ACLU Makes It Official: The Only Thing Wrong With Trump’s Travel Order Is Trump

9th May 2017

Read it.

The Democrats who attacked President Trump’s travel order in front of carefully-selected Democratic judges made the extraordinary claim that the President’s statements on the stump, as a candidate, were somehow relevant to whether the order was constitutional. This claim implies that an order may be unconstitutional if issued by one president, while the exact same order would be perfectly fine if issued by another. This is an absurd result.

It may be absurd, but it is what the Democrats believe. ACLU lawyer Omar Jadwat, arguing today before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, told the court that President Trump’s travel order “could be constitutional” if it had been written by Hillary Clinton.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Democrats Bring the H8: Newsweek Writer Wishes for ‘Torture’ and ‘Death’ On GOP Families After AHCA Passes

8th May 2017

Read it.

Newsweek writer Kurt Eichenwald has no problem using his platform as a member of the media to hurl death threats against those whom he disagrees with. After House Republicans passed the AHCA last Thursday, the liberal writer took to Twitter to air his grievances against the bill by wishing that their family members would be tortured and die. (Yes, really.)

Funny, I missed the part of the Constitution that guarantees this berk that taxpayers will cover his health care. Well, you learn something new every day.

Mizzou’s Enrollment Has Plummeted Since It Got Woke

8th May 2017

Read it.

It’s been a year and a half since the students and faculty of the University of Missouri showed us their unique approach to journalism and free speech. How’s that working out for them?

New data shows freshman enrollment at the behemoth University of Missouri is just 4,009—down 35 percent since Fall 2015…

Weird. It’s almost as if people don’t want to pay tens of thousands of dollars a year to be screamed at and scolded for the color of their skin. They can get that anywhere.

Look on the bright side, Mizzou: You’re becoming an increasingly safe space. You can’t have students disagreeing with each other if you don’t have any students!

Democrats: Bringing the H8

8th May 2017

Read it.

An Art Institute of Washington professor recently declared that House Republicans “should be lined up and shot” for their passage of an Obamacare-replacement bill.

“They should be lined up and shot,” Professor John Griffin posted to his Facebook, according to a screenshot of the post obtained by Campus Reform, even clarifying that he wasn’t being hyperbolic, saying “that’s not hyperbole; blood is on their hands.”

Funny how you never hear anybody say that Democrats ought to be lined up and shot.

Students Left a Pineapple in the Middle of an Exhibition and People Mistook It for Art

8th May 2017

Read it.

Ruairi Gray, a business information technology student at Robert Gordon University in Scotland, and his friend Lloyd Jack, reportedly left the fruit at the Look Again exhibition at RGU’s Sir Ian Wood building, hoping that it might be mistaken for art.

When they returned four days later he found that the pineapple had been put inside its own glass display case at the event.

NHS Staff ‘Quitting to Work in Supermarkets Due to Low Pay’

8th May 2017

Read it.

An organisation representing NHS trusts in England said a “significant” number of hospitals had reported lower-paid staff leaving to work outside the health service.

NHS Providers said a pay cap for NHS staff, that limits pay rises to one per cent a year until 2019, should be lifted as patient safety is being put at risk.

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money. The problem with government-provided health care is that eventually the government realizes that it can’t pay for everybody’s health care without raising taxes sky-high, which it can’t do because then people won’t vote for them any more, so they reduce the amount they’re willing to pay, which leads to shortages and — wait for it — low pay for health-care ‘providers’. Reality can be a real bitch at times.

How about that government-provided health care? Don’t you wish we had a system like that in America? Hold on to your wallet; it’s coming.

By Standards of a Century Ago, We’re Better Off Than John D. Rockefeller

7th May 2017

Read it.

Having bestowed the presidency on a candidate who described their country as a “hellhole” besieged by multitudes trying to get into it, Americans need an antidote for social hypochondria. Fortunately, one has arrived from Don Boudreaux, an economist at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center and proprietor of the indispensable blog Cafe Hayek.

He has good news: You are as rich as John D. Rockefeller. Richer, actually.

The Twilight of the Age of Aquarius

7th May 2017

Freeberg discusses how the Children of the Sixties are showing their age.

I very often use the term “this stuff we today call ‘liberalism’,” along with “liberalism as we know it today.” These are simply embellishments to phrasing, to make the meaning more precise when it seems like I have the luxury of doing so; the rest of the time I just call it “liberalism,” which is a betrayal against proper definition. After all, the luxury of precision may be gone for awhile, but one’s obligations as a writer remain. Now & then, to avoid flouting the far weightier obligation of not-boring-the-reader, one must use shorthand; one must hope the reader will “get it.” Liberalism is supposed to mean power to the people. It has classically meant free market capitalism, and civil liberties under rule of law. Hopefully, where I’ve failed some writing duties, I’ve succeeded in others, for here in the first paragraph even the casual reader can spot the problem. Liberalism, as we know it today, is most certainly not about these things.

Scientists Reverse Ageing in Mammals and Predict Human Trials Within 10 Years

7th May 2017

Read it.

Using a new technique which takes adult cells back to their embryonic form, US researchers at the Salk Institute in California, showed it was possible to reverse ageing in mice, allowing the animals to not only look younger, but live for 30 per cent longer.

The technique involves stimulating four genes which are particularly active during development in the womb. It was also found to work to turn the clock back on human skin cells in the lab, making them look and behave younger.

Scientists hope to eventually create a drug which can mimic the effect of the found genes which could be taken to slow down, and even reverse the ageing process. They say it will take around 10 years to get to human trials.

Supreme Court Rejects Guilty Until Proven Innocent, Says States Cannot Keep Money From The Innocent

5th May 2017

Read it.

With so many constitutional rights under siege, it’s welcome news when one of them is defended. Reaffirming the presumption of innocence, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Colorado law last month that forced criminal defendants to prove their innocence when the defendants’ convictions were already overturned. As the court explained, “Absent those convictions, Colorado would have no legal right to exact and retain petitioners’ funds.” Not only is this decision a win for due process, the court’s ruling in Nelson v. Colorado could have major ramifications for government shakedown schemes nationwide.

This is a huge step forward in the fight against Civil Asset Forfeiture.

List of Obamacare Taxes Repealed

4th May 2017

Indiana Man Fakes Hate Crime To Raise Awareness Of Mean People

4th May 2017

A staged hate crime, that’s what investigators believe happened at a church in Brown County. Investigators say a church organist, fearful after the outcome of the 2016 election, vandalized the church he worked at to “mobilize a movement.”

More fake hate from the Usual Suspects.

According to court documents, Stang admitted to committing the crime out of fear of the election results. Stang, identified as being homosexual in court documents, said his parents are not very supportive of him because he is gay. He said he wanted to “mobilize a movement” but didn’t want the media attention that had resulted.

But his intentions were good, so that’s all right then.

Virtue Signalling

4th May 2017

Read it.

A house on the next block, half of a duplex, has two signs on its front porch, both identical. They read: “Hate Has No Home Here.” Not that I suspect his neighbors on either side of harboring sinister sentiments; but I also suspect that the resident may actually hate such things as racism, sexism, or even Donald Trump. The message is repeated in Arabic, just in case anyone misses the signal, and also in Hindi and perhaps Urdu, as well as a script I did not recognize, in Hebrew, and in Spanish. Perhaps, by omission the resident is signalling a dislike for Germans or Russians or French or of speakers of Tamil. The irony is that people using one of the scripts displayed have oft-time exhibited murderous hatred for users of another of the scripts. Oh, well. The purpose of the sign is to signal the resident’s moral smugness to members of his own tribe.

When Liberalism Collides with Reality

3rd May 2017

Read it.

Poor Connecticut. The nutmeg state didn’t have an income tax for a long time, but finally adopted one in 1991 because of course the state couldn’t possibly balance its budget without one. And naturally the rate has been slowly rising. The state went from three tax brackets to seven two years ago. But guess what?

It means the current budget year, which ends in just two months, is now seriously in the red and next year’s deficit has ballooned to $2.2 billion.

It’s happening because the state of Connecticut depends too much on its wealthy residents, and wealthy residents are leaving, and the ones that are staying are making less, or are not taking their profits from the stock market until they see what happens in Washington.
