An Afghan refugee charged in the slayings of two Muslim men is facing new charges in connection with the shooting death of another man in the parking lot of a refugee resettlement agency earlier this month.

A grand jury indicted Muhammad Syed in the three killings Monday. He’s also a suspect in the shooting death of a Muslim shop owner in November 2021, but he has yet to be charged in that case.

“[T]he Islamic Jihad Movement … is able to crush the enemy,” Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei tweeted, praising Palestinian terrorists in his latest violent Twitter screed, which has stayed posted on the platform uncensored for 11 days. Last week, a man stormed the stage at the Chautauqua Institution and stabbed British author Salman Rushdie in the neck as he was being introduced. The topic under discussion was “the United States as asylum for writers and other artists in exile and as a home for freedom of creative expression.” Chances are exceptionally high that this was the work of a jihadi.

The story attracted shamefully fleeting attention. For those too young to remember, “The Satanic Verses” was published back in September 1988. And because of the book’s purportedly impertinent treatment of the prophet Muhammad, it was banned in Rushdie’s native India and dozens of other nations—including virtually every Muslim-majority country in the world. Though Rushdie would later become a powerful advocate of free expression, he initially turned on his own book, apologizing numerous times for its contents. “I profoundly regret the distress that publication has occasioned to sincere followers of Islam,” he said in one statement, asking his publisher to hold back release of the paperback edition of the book. As a matter of self-preservation, his position was understandable.

And, still, it was all to no avail. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa against Rushdie, contending that even if the author “became the most pious man of all time” it was the duty of every Muslim to “employ everything he has got” to murder the writer.

The recent indictment of a member of the IRGC regime terror network for soliciting the assassination of former National Security Advisor John Bolton provided a window into how Iran has targeted former Trump administration members.

The IRGC operative struck up a relationship with an Iranian-American on social media by initially offering $10,000 for photos of Bolton. This is a familiar form of espionage tradecraft in which a foreign spy solicits an American to perform a seemingly harmless and legal act, often involving photography, such as taking photos of individuals or cars, that is then revealed to be espionage committed at the behest of a foreign power. The patsy is then told that he has a choice between committing more serious crimes or being turned in to the FBI as a spy.

Next month will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the kidnapping and massacre of eleven Israeli athletes at the Olympics in Munich. The Israelis were taken hostage and murdered by Palestinian terrorists of “Black September”, most of whom were also eventually killed.

Official recognition of the anniversary has been clouded by two recent issues in Germany. First, remarks by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas have caused consternation. Hamas and Fatah both spend a lot of the foreign aid they spend on encouraging terrorism. These payments go to imprisoned terrorists or the families of dead ones. Hamas and Fatah spend over $200 million a year on this and payments on this scale would not be possible without using foreign aid funds. Since 2019, many donor countries have been cutting their aid in a show of opposition to this “Pay For Slay” policy. The donors, embarrassed by published details of how this works. In the United States Palestinian charities are being sued for illegally soliciting money for needy Palestinians and using a lot of the contributions for supporting terrorism, either for Pay for Slay or to finance current and future attacks. The “Pay for Slay” program is very popular among Palestinians because it makes the losses they suffer for carrying out these attacks easier to tolerate. Hamas and Fatah have another problem, growing criticism from Gaza and West Bank Palestinians as well as in Arab countries against the terrorism in Gaza and the West Bank. Another complication is that Iran is providing economic support to Islamic Jihad and the Palestinian governments in Gaza and West Bank. Another criticism is that the Palestinian leaders justify their relationship because of the common goal to destroy Israel. The problem here is that Israel is a key ally in a Middle Eastern coalition that opposes Iranian aggression. Iran also attacks Saudi Arabia and the UAE while threatening Egypt.

A member of the notorious Islamic State kidnap-and-murder cell known as the “Beatles,” is to be sentenced in a U.S. court Friday for the deaths of four American hostages in Syria.

El Shafee Elsheikh, 34, faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison after being convicted in Alexandria, Virginia, in April of hostage-taking, conspiracy to murder US citizens and supporting a terrorist organization.

The grueling two-week trial of the former British national, which featured emotional testimony from former hostages and parents of the victims, was the most significant prosecution of an IS militant in the United States.

On Wednesday a large blast ripped through a centrally located mosque during evening prayers in the Afghan capital of Kabul, with a huge casualty count feared. One or more suicide bombers were reportedly behind the attack.

It appears that Oberlin has another major controversy on its hand. For the last couple years, Oberlin has been embroiled in a fight with a small family-owned grocery that it defamed over a shoplifting case involving black students. Oberlin lost $25 million in a record verdict but Oberlin President Carmen Twillie Ambar continued to refuse to apologize. In the meantime, the school seems intent on running the 137-year-old grocery into insolvency as it delays paying on the judgment. Now the school is under fire over a faculty member, Mohammad Jafar Mahallati, who supported the fatwa against Salman Rushdie. The author of Satanic Verses is recovering from a savage knife attack. Hadi Matar, 24, is accused of carrying out the stabbing attack and has expressed support for Iran in the past. The campaign to have Mahallati fired could present some difficult free speech and academic freedom questions.

When Samir Azzuz was convicted of financing terrorism last month in the Netherlands, it was not the Dutch-Moroccan’s first terrorism rodeo: in 2006, as a member of the Dutch terror cell the Hofstadgroep, his detailed plans for terror attacks on the Dutch security agency AIVD and on various politicians landed him a 13-year sentence in a maximum security prison.

The Hofstadgroep is best known for a terror attack by another member, Mohammed Bouyeri, who in 2004 shot and stabbed controversial filmmaker and writer Theo van Gogh in broad daylight on a busy street in Amsterdam, killing him.

After his early release in September 2013, Azzuz wasted little time resuming jihadist activities – this time raising funds to help smuggle so-called ISIS brides and their children out of the detainee camps where they are currently being held in Syria. In all, Azzuz, who was arrested again in 2019 on charges of financing terrorism, is believed to have raised more than $107,000 from various sources. More than 15 ISIS brides have found their way back to the Netherlands. And though another Hofstadgroep member told Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad in 2020 that the cost to smuggle a woman out of the camps at that time was about $5000, it is not known how many of those Azzuz helped finance.

The Satanic Verses are words of “satanic suggestion” which the Islamic prophet Muhammad is alleged to have mistaken for divine revelation. The verses praise the three pagan Meccan goddesses: al-L?t, al-‘Uzzá, and Man?t and can be read in early prophetic biographies of Muhammad by al-W?qid?, Ibn Sa’d and the tafsir of al-Tabar?. The first use of the expression in English is attributed to Sir William Muir in 1858.

The incident is accepted as true by modern scholars of Islamic studies, under the criterion of embarrassment, citing the implausibility of early Muslim biographers fabricating a story so unflattering about their prophet.[3][4] It was accepted by religious authorities for the first two centuries of the Islamic era, but was later rejected by some religious scholars (Ulama) as incompatible with Muhammad’s perfection (‘isma), implying that Muhammad is infallible and therefore cannot be fooled by Satan.

A family dispute in the French city of Lyon took an unfortunate turn today when a young man decapitated his father in a parking lot. It was an “Allahu Akhbar” moment for the youngster, but French citizens were reassured by the police that the youth was not thought to have been radicalized.

They use the term ‘radicalized’ as if it were a disease you could catch, like COVID, or a process that was applied to you, like ‘simonized’. No–it’s a choice to do evil.

A virulently anti-Israel group with an active U.S. presence on Tuesday glorified a top Palestinian terrorist reported to be a commander of the U.S.-designated Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades.

“The Lion of Nablus, Ibrahim Nabulsi was beloved by all in the city, emerging from an early age as one of its foremost defenders and resistance fighters,” said a post on the Palestinian Youth Movement’s (PYM) Facebook page. “Nabulsi gave his life to protect and guard Nablus from zionist [sic] incursion,” the post added, describing him as “a prime example of the sacrifice routinely given by the youth of the city to ensure its continued freedom from the occupation.”

Just a little reminder that there are still Muslim terrorists out there and they are still eager to kill people.

Rushdie’s book “The Satanic Verses” has been banned in Iran since 1988, as many Muslims consider it to be blasphemous. A year later, Iran’s late leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa, or edict, calling for Rushdie’s death.

A bounty of over $3 million has also been offered for anyone who kills Rushdie.

Iran’s government has long since distanced itself from Khomeini’s decree, but anti-Rushdie sentiment lingered. In 2012, a semi-official Iranian religious foundation raised the bounty for Rushdie from $2.8 million to $3.3 million.

A Scottsdale Community College professor did not violate his Muslim student’s rights when he taught about religious justification in Islamic terrorism, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district judge’s 2020 ruling dismissing the lawsuit filed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on behalf of student Mohamed Sabra. In her 2020 order, District Judge Susan M. Brnovich found that Nicholas Damask’s World Politics coursework and quizzes did not violate Sabra’s First Amendment rights or require him to abandon his faith as a Muslim.

The United States helped bring about the 9/11 attacks because it sees “itself as one above equals in international relations,” a history book assigned to high school seniors in Turkey says. It is among a series of disturbing lessons in Turkish school textbooks.

According to research by exiled Turkish journalist Abdullah Bozkurt published by the Middle East Forum, at least two books issued by Turkey’s education ministry contain disturbing references about jihad and other elements of Islamism.

A man armed with a loaded AK-47 was arrested on Thursday outside of the Brooklyn home of Iranian dissident journalist Masih Alinejad, according to sources and charging documents.

Khalid Mehdiyev, 23, was found with the assault rifle, a high-capacity magazine and more than $1,000 worth of cash when he was arrested after lurking for two days, according to a federal complaint.

On Wednesday hundreds of followers of the hardline Iraqi Shia cleric, militia leader, and politician Muqtada al-Sadr overwhelmed security in Baghdad’s Green Zone, where they were able to breach and storm the country’s parliament building.

The protests came amid political friction which pits al-Sadr’s bloc, which won a majority as the largest faction in the 329-seat parliament during prior October elections, against the pro-Iran Coordination Framework faction. The latter group’s nomination for prime minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, is being fiercely opposed by al-Sadr’s followers.

Senior Shia cleric and political leader Muqtada al Sadr is demanding that former prime minister Nouri al-Maliki be prosecuted because of audio recordings of his political views that demonstrate him making deals with anyone, including Iran, to defeat Sadr and his many supporters. If convicted, Maliki faces life in prison or even execution. Sadr has been unrelenting in his anti-corruption campaign, Evidence of corrupt Maliki decisions since he became the first prime minister of post-Saddam Iraq in 2003 led to his being banned from running for prime minister again. Sadr wanted Maliki banned from politics altogether, but court rulings allowed Maliki to remain active and his party alliance was key in blocking the selection of a new prime minister after anti-corruption parties obtained a majority in the 2021 elections. Iraqi courts are less corrupt than many other institutions but can still be influenced by cash or convincing death threats.

What distinguishes this group from previous waves is that it seems to be notably well-armed — or maybe the soldiers of Allah just happened to get caught this time.

Violence from Islamic terrorism, tribal conflicts and banditry hit record levels in 2021. The five states with the highest number deaths were; Zamfara (in the northwest near the Niger border) saw 848 deaths while Kaduna (in the north) had 550 and Borno (in the northeast) 481, Benue (central Nigeria) 381 and Niger (in the west) 332. So far in 2022 Benue States has dropped out of the top five, replaced by Plateau state in Central Nigeria.

Until the last few years Borno State was the most violent. Since 2011 over 35,000 have died from Boko Haram and Islamic terrorist violence. This was the majority of the 60,000 deaths suffered nationwide because of Islamic terrorist activity since 2011.

Early in the morning on New Year’s Day in 2014 I was looking through the online news, as was my habit. I came across an article about an explosion and fire in the Cedar-Riverside district of Minneapolis, which was suspected to have been caused by a gas leak. As I skimmed through the text, I noticed that the damaged building was said to be “next door to a mosque”. That got my attention — the blast must have been in “Little Mogadishu” — so I read the article more closely and looked at some of the news videos.

My suspicions were aroused by the appearance of the building after the explosion, before firemen brought the blaze under control. It didn’t look like a gas explosion, which typically blows out all the walls and collapses the roof onto the rubble. When that happens, most of the ambient oxygen is consumed by the initial blast, and there’s usually very little fire afterwards in the remaining rubble.

That’s not what happened on Cedar Avenue that bitterly cold New Year’s morning. An intense explosion blew out the windows of the second floor and propelled debris across the street (as well as the legless body of one of the victims, according to early reports that were later scrubbed from the web), but the walls remained intact. A fire burned fiercely afterwards, consuming all the flammable material in the building, including the roof. It took firemen a couple of days to extinguish the blaze completely.

In the end the building was razed and the rubble carted away, destroying any possibility of a real investigation. The official cover story was a “gas leak”, never mind the gas utility’s vehement insistence that their monitoring equipment showed definitively that their system experienced no leaks whatsoever that morning.

Molenbeek, Belgium, you may recall, was the Brussels neighborhood that was home to almost half of the jihadists responsible for the 2015 Paris attacks and several subsequent terror attacks in Belgium. The bomber of a train at Brussels Central Station in 2017, for instance, lived in Molenbeek. Mehdi Nemmouche, who shot and killed four people at Brussels’ Jewish Museum in 2014, had previously lived in Molenbeek. The mastermind of the Paris killings, Abdelhamid Abboud, grew up and still lived in Molenbeek.

Most of Molenbeek’s population is Moroccan, though immigrants from elsewhere in North Africa and from Eastern Europe have also settled there. It is an area of Brussels where, according to the Oasis Center, an Italian foundation that studies relations between Muslims and Christians, “a type of Islam has been propagated over the decades that, if not radical, has nevertheless prepared the ground in which the radicalism would then take root.”

Today the Daily Mail’s US homepage features the story we reported yesterday morning: “‘Get the f*** out of here’: Squad member Ilhan Omar is booed by 10,000-strong Somali music festival crowd in her OWN district – days after she suggested Minnesota is worse than a refugee camp.” For some reason or other, the Star Tribune hasn’t gotten around to it yet.

One of my Somali friends happened to be in a good position to update the story. My friend has forwarded the photo below snapped at MSP airport last night. It captures Omar leaving town with husband Tim Mynett for London. My friend comments: “She’s out of the USA for the 4th! She didn’t miss Pride or Somali week but for the 4th she’s gone.”
