Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, said Tuesday a tough “decision” is close amid ratcheting daily attacks on northern Israel. “We are approaching the point where a decision will have to be made, and the IDF is prepared and very ready for this decision,” Halevi said while on a visit to an army base in Kiryat Shmona, a northern region which has witnessed massive fires this week resulting from Hezbollah drone and rocket attacks.

Anti-terrorism prosecutors have taken over the investigation into the knife attack committed by an Islamist asylum seeker from Afghanistan. German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann said there are clear indications of an Islamist motive for the attack. The federal prosecutor’s office said the attack may have been religiously motivated: the perpetrator is suspected to have wanted to prevent critics of Islam from exercising their right to freedom of expression.

Four more male hostages held in Gaza since Oct. 7 are believed to be dead, according to an announcement Monday by the Israeli army that drew an immediate plea by a group representing the family members of the dozens of remaining hostages to make a deal for their release.

The army on Monday named the hostages as Chaim Peri, Yoram Metzger, Amiram Cooper and Nadav Popplewell and said that Hamas was holding their bodies. The army also announced on Monday that a man who had been thought to be a hostage, Dolev Yehud, had in fact been killed on Oct. 7.

The revelations mean that more than a third of the 120 hostages thought to remain in Gaza are known to be dead.

Sweden’s Security Service Säpo confirmed on Thursday that the Iranian regime is recruiting criminals to conduct attacks on Jewish targets in the Scandinavian country. This corroborates earlier intelligence reports from Israel’s spy agency Mossad.

At a joint press conference with the Foreign Ministry in Stockholm, Swedish counter-intelligence chief Daniel Stenling described Iran as wanting to use “criminal networks” as “proxies.” He indicated Iran’s chargé d’affaires would be summoned to a meeting on Friday to answer the claims.

Stenling was short on exact details but confirmed that security measures were being increased on potential Jewish targets. Mossad has already indicated that underworld networks in Europe could be weaponised against the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris.

The court has marshalled evidence in the form of documents and testimony, it has established narratives of the atrocities themselves, and it has provided some measure of justice. The proceedings from the ICC—and the earlier ad hoc tribunals that adjudicated the bloody breakup of Yugoslavia and the genocide of the Tutsis in Rwanda—have also made great efforts to leave politics at the door. Judges and prosecutors have been respected jurists from states untouched by the atrocities themselves. No one could realistically dismiss the ICC as a purveyor of “victor’s justice,” or even politicised justice.

This record abruptly ended on 20 May when ICC Prosecutor Kamil Khan submitted an application to the ICC pre-trial chamber requesting arrest warrants for three senior members of Hamas, including Yahya Sinwar, and two Israeli leaders, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. The warrant request is based on the Rome Statute of 1998, which established the court’s procedures and clarified the definitions of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. But Khan’s application is also a highly politicised document. It professes to take no sides in Israel’s latest war with Hamas by creating false equivalencies between the belligerents, and it panders to commentators who have long argued that Western leaders—particularly the Israelis—have enjoyed immunity from the court’s strictures.

A bulk carrier in the southern Red Sea was struck by missiles for the second time this week, according to an X post by the UK Maritime Trade Operations. These highly contested waters near the Bab al-Mandab Strait are controlled by Iran-backed Houthis, who have been targeting commercial and Western warships since late 2023.

UKMTO reports that the vessel’s “Master” indicated missiles struck the ship for the second time approximately 33 nautical miles northwest of Al Mukha in Yemen.

“The Master of an MV reports a further missile attack. The vessel has sustained further damage. The crew are safe, and the vessel is proceeding to their next port of call,” UKMTO wrote on X.

Rashida Tlaib, a Congresswoman from Detroit and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, spoke over the weekend at the “People’s Conference for Palestine,” linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

This group, an Arab nationalist movement with Marxist-Leninist ideology, is designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the US. It has public-facing arms, such as Samidoun, working on behalf of the group, and active cells in many countries in Europe and North America.

During the Saturday speech, Tlaib referred to members of the audience as the “squad” and demanded President Biden establish a “red line” on Israel’s counteroffensive in Gaza. She criticized the president for “attacking the authority” of the International Criminal Court, which issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week over war crimes and crimes against humanity in Israel’s mission to eliminate Hamas in Gaza.

Among the speakers was Wisam Rafeedie, an activist linked to PFLP. The US State Department has designated the PFLP as a terrorist organization.

It is true that the vast majority of Muslims are not terrorists.

It is also true that the vast majority of terrorists are Muslim.

Weeks ago, two individuals in a box truck attempted to breach the gates at Quantico Marine Corps Base in Triangle, Virginia. Armed guards immediately stopped them, and the base’s top brass quickly covered up the incident.

The reason for burying this incident? It’s an election year for President Biden – and this type of news is politically explosive. The suspects were two Jordanian nationals, one reportedly on the FBI’s terrorist watch list, raising suspicions that they entered illegally through the Biden administration’s open southern border, as one report says, adding this could’ve been a dry run for a potential vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack.

The Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza has been closed indefinitely since the Israeli military seized the crossing on 7 May, a closure which has left thousands of Palestinians in limbo. Since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza in October, and the subsequent closure of all other crossings, the Rafah crossing with Egypt has been the only passageway for civilians fleeing the conflict.

An Egyptian company with exclusive control on exits and transfers via the terminal had been charging Palestinians at least $5,000 per adult and $2,500 per child to cross to the Egyptian side. In April, Hala Consulting and Tourism Services, a firm owned by Sinai tribal leader and business tycoon Ibrahim al-Organi, made at least $2m per day from Palestinians, Middle East Eye has revealed.

The first 10 truckloads of food aid were landed on the floating pier last Friday and were subsequently delivered to a warehouse for the U.N. World Food Programme 8 miles away. On Saturday, 16 more trucks landed with aid.

However, “11 of those trucks never made it to the warehouse,” said Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the U.N. secretary-general. “Crowds had stopped the trucks at various points along the way. The Associated Press reported gunfire erupting at the scene, leaving at least one man dead.

Northwestern appears to have broken a U.S. law called the Clery Act by failing to take and publish police reports from students who say they were assaulted, battered, stolen from, or witnessed crimes committed by anti-Israel protesters on campus. Failure to do so would allow the university to report lower crime numbers and portray a false picture of campus safety.

Northwestern, a private school that receives hundreds of millions of dollars annually in federal subsidies, contracts, and grants, is already in hot water after capitulating to anti-Israel rioters who illegally occupied both its campuses, in Chicago and in Evanston, Illinois.

Whitfield recently met with the UNLV chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine. That alone was a major error. Earlier this month, this group helped sponsor a “Walkout for Palestine” at UNLV. At that event, protesters chanted, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and “Long life the intifada.” The first is a call to wipe out Israel, which would result in the murder of millions of Jews. The second is praise for terror campaigns, including bombings, directed at Israelis.

Chances are, when the new curriculum has been put together and the teachers assigned, everything will be under Turkish control, but everyone involved will pretend that’s not the case.

For more than two decades, through two wars and domestic upheaval, the idea that al-Qaeda acted alone on 9/11 has been the basis of U.S. policy. A blue-ribbon commission concluded that Osama bin Laden had pioneered a new kind of terrorist group—combining superior technological know-how, extensive resources, and a worldwide network so well coordinated that it could carry out operations of unprecedented magnitude. This vanguard of jihad, it seemed, was the first nonstate actor that rivaled nation-states in the damage it could wreak.
That assessment now appears wrong. And if our understanding of what transpired on 9/11 turns out to have been flawed, then the costly policies that the United States has pursued for the past quarter century have been rooted in a false premise.

An expert on Islamism has highlighted the dangers to Europe of the Muslim Brotherhood through its emphasis on legal rather than ‘terrorist’ methods. Dr. Lorenzo Vidino told a recent European conference how the Brotherhood is a “social network,” united by ideological and economic ties, and heavily financed by Qatar.

It facilitates Islamist radicalisation while impacting the discussion of human rights and democracy—which it wishes to abolish in favour of establishing a global caliphate: i.e. theocratic rule by a caliph, the recognised successor to the prophet Muhammad.

A prominent Belgian artist and his partner were found stabbed to death on Tuesday. The primary suspect is reportedly a 34-year-old homeless migrant they were sheltering at their home in the northern Brussels district of Molenbeek, understood to have been residing in the country illegally for an unknown amount of time.

Paul Buyse, a 63-year-old artist, and his partner and local teacher Muriel Borré died at an address in Avenue Henri Hollevoet in the north of the Belgian capital on Tuesday in what police are describing as a “domestic incident”.

Documents collected and interviews conducted by Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that senior Hamas leaders had a plan for what they would do if they somehow invaded and conquered Israel. First, Palestinian occupied Israel would be divided up into several cantons, each ruled by a Hamas leader. The plan included details on which Israelis would be killed, expelled, or forced to remain because they were educated Jews and experts in the areas of medicine, engineering, technology, and civilian and military industry.

Fatah, another Palestinian organization founded in 1959 with the help of exiled Palestinian professionals working in the Persian Gulf oil states and elsewhere, eventually became the dominant political force in the West Bank after the Six Day War. In the 1990s Fatah was a major component of the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) when a peace deal was negotiated with Israel. Fatah was supposed to hold elections to select leaders but corruption eventually made the elections meaningless. That was trouble for Fatah, but the Hamas faction in Gaza won the election there and took control as an area no longer ruled by Fatah in the West Bank. Hamas was founded with the help of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood. In 2007 Hamas ejected Fatah from Gaza and Israel blockaded Fatah in Gaza, not allowing Palestinians in Gaza to enter Israel without permission.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah urged Lebanese authorities to ‘open the sea’ in order to flood Europe with a new wave of migrants.

Nasrallah made the remarks during a televised address at a rally marking the eighth anniversary of the assassination of late Hezbollah Resistance military commander Mustafa Badreddine.

The militant leader called for “a national decision that says: we have opened the sea… whoever wants to leave for Europe, for Cyprus, the sea is in front of you. Take a boat and board it.”

Two prison guards were killed and three others injured after a group of armed attackers cornered a prison transport van at a toll booth near Rouen in northwestern France on Tuesday, breaking a notorious convict out of custody. A manhunt is now underway for the prisoner.

Mohamed Amra, the convict freed by gunmen in the deadly attack, has a long history of convictions for violent crimes that started when he was only 15, according to judicial sources.

The 30-year-old inmate, reportedly known as “La Mouche” (The Fly), was still on the run Wednesday, a day after heavily armed accomplices killed two prison officers at a toll station and fled the scene with him.

Violent clashes have broken out between demonstrators and riot police three times in the past week. Reports say these took place after a group of “masked outsiders” joined the original peaceful group of activists calling for the university to cut its ties with Israeli institutions. Some of the mob caused “serious damage” to the building. The cost of this disruption has not been unveiled, but will be great.

On November 5, 2009 at Fort Hood, Maj. Hasan yelled “Allahu akbar” and blasted away with two handguns. He shot dead Capt. John P. Gaffney, Spc. Frederick Greene, civilian physician assistant Michael Cahill, Maj. Eduardo Caraveo, Staff Sgt. Justin Michael DeCrow and Spc. Jason Dean Hunt, who took a fatal bullet in the back. Hasan killed Pfc. Aaron Thomas Nemelka, Pfc Michael S. Pearson, Capt. Gilbert Russell Seager, and Pfc. Kham See Xiong, 23, of St. Paul, Minnesota. The terrorist’s victims included three women.

Pfc. Francheska Velez, 21, was pregnant and yelled “My baby! My baby!” Hasan shot her in the chest, and her pre-born child was never counted among the murder victims.
