A late-night illegal street takeover in Queens, New York, over the weekend turned extremely violent when a private security guard attempting to intervene was assaulted, and his vehicle was set on fire. The incident highlights the growing public-safety crisis in Democrat-run cities and may only suggest what’s to come under Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

We are far more likely to use our hands to type or swipe than pick up a pen. But in the process we are in danger of losing cognitive skills, sensory experience – and a connection to history.
Multiple studies have shown that if you write something by hand you remember it better than if you just type it.
Clarity in handwriting isn’t merely an aid to communication. In some significant way, writing by hand, unlike tracing a letter or typing it, primes the brain for learning to read. Psychologists Pam Mueller and Daniel Oppenheimer compared students taking class notes by hand or on a laptop computer to test whether the medium mattered for student performance. Earlier studies of laptop use in the classroom had focused on how distracting computer use was for students. Not surprisingly, the answer was very distracting, and not just for the notetaker but for nearby peers as well.
Mueller and Oppenheimer instead studied how laptop use affected the learning process for students who used them. They found that “even when laptops are used solely to take notes, they may still be impairing learning because their use results in shallower processing”. In three different experiments, their research concluded that students who used laptop computers performed worse on conceptual questions in comparison with students who took notes by hand. “Laptop note takers’ tendency to transcribe lectures verbatim rather than processing information and reframing it in their own words is detrimental to learning,” they wrote. In other words, we retain information better when we write by hand because the slower pace of writing forces us to summarise as we write, as opposed to the greater speed of transcribing on a keyboard.

Now, a study of IRS data by the National Taxpayers Union Foundation found that California is losing a taxpayer roughly every minute, as states like Florida, Texas, and North Carolina attract new residents due to lower taxes and higher standards of living.
The states losing taxpayers at the fastest rate are California, New York, and Illinois. Here is the rate of loss:
California: every 1 minute and 44 seconds
New York: every 2 minutes and 23 seconds
Illinois: every 6 minutes and 4 seconds.
Massachusetts: every 11 minutes and 38 seconds
New Jersey: every 14 minutes and 14 seconds.

Last week, I was able to generate from artificial intelligence a fake study that proved that eating waffles increases baldness. It was filled with footnotes, citations, and complicated math and models. It was kind of scary to see how credible the results felt. You had to look carefully to see the problems. I shared it with others who immediately said something like, “I can believe it.”
Think of this. We’ve never before been in the position to generate such seemingly scientific content on any subject under the sun within a matter of seconds. This power has only existed for two years. Many people do not even know it exists, much less how easy it is. Bad actors are in a position to use this power anytime they want. They can count on legacy levels of trust in “science” to pass off such fakery as real.
No hair looks as good as waffles taste.

Newly unsealed court documents describe federal allegations that a Chicago man connected to the Latin Kings placed a $10,000 bounty on U.S. Customs and Border Protection Cmdr. Gregory Bovino.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the affidavit was released at the direction of U.S. District Judge Joan Lefkow ahead of a hearing next week, when attorneys for Juan Espinoza Martinez plan to seek his release from custody.
Federal investigators say Espinoza Martinez was a ranking member of the Latin Kings when he offered payments for information on Bovino and a larger reward for killing him.

New, disturbing revelations show just how far Joe Biden was willing to go to target his political enemies. In 2022, his Justice Department secretly seized more than two years of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan’s personal phone records. Fox News Digital obtained a subpoena that exposes the depth of Biden’s weaponization of the government against his enemies.
The subpoena shows a federal prosecutor — who later joined Jack Smith’s January 6 team — ordered Verizon to cough up Jordan’s records dating back to Jan. 1, 2020.
“The request appears to be the most expansive yet of the publicly known subpoenas targeting senators and current and former House members during Arctic Frost, the investigation that led to Smith bringing election-related charges against President Donald Trump,” Fox News Digital reports.

The old joke goes: A-list actor is having lunch with studio chief. Studio chief says, Didya hear so-and-so (well-known Hollywood agent) dropped dead this morning. His heart. A-list actor says, Gee, I didn’t know he had one.
Kind of brings to mind the late Veep Dick Cheney, who actually did have a heart, but one so grotesquely diseased that he had his first near-fatal infarction at age thirty-seven, followed by surgeries galore, and finally, at age 71, a heart transplant that, quite remarkably, kept him going another thirteen years — long enough to function behind-the-scenes as a senior Deep State cheerleader and strategist through the Trump years. Daughter Liz Cheney, of course, did the political dirty-work, most notably on Nancy Pelosi’s sketchy J-6 Committee, prior to being voted out of office in the 2022 Republican primary for Wyoming’s at-large U.S. House seat with 28.9 percent of the vote to Harriet Hageman’s 66.3 percent.
And so, yesterday, Dick Cheney’s funeral took place at Washington’s National Cathedral, the greatest assemblage of bloodsuckers since the Hammer Film Studio went out of business in 1979.
Joe Biden was there, perky as all get-out for somebody with stage-four prostate cancer, shaking hands with Mike Pence, who pulled him over the finish line in 2021. John Brennan, coupster superbus was there. Ditto John Bolton (awaiting trial). Most cheekily of all, Dr. Fauci, the father of Covid-19 and its little helper, the Covid vaxx, was seated next to MSNBC’s loss-leader, Rachel Maddow, who famously declared in 2021, “The virus stops with every vaccinated person!” (Not.)

Staša Košarac disputes Schmidt’s mandate in Bosnia and Herzegovina—which his party claims is not approved by the United Nations Security Council, meaning Schmidt is operating in the country illegally.

Across the free world, people are exhausted, institutions appear unresponsive, and leaders feel distant. Politics remains an endless quarrel. In this climate, a new idea is taking hold, that perhaps the machines can do better.
Billionaire technologist and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has publicly cautioned against this temptation while acknowledging why it is on the rise. When democracies fail to deliver, he notes, people naturally look for something—anything—that promises competence.
Surveys from 2025 even show that many citizens now trust artificial intelligence (AI) systems to make decisions on their behalf more than their elected representatives. It’s a striking shift, but it reveals something more troubling than the technology itself.
I’d trust an A.I. before I’d trust a Democrat, for sure.

The Transportation Security Administration has introduced an $18 fee for airline passengers who reach airport checkpoints without acceptable identification, a policy that strengthens REAL ID enforcement as holiday travel picks up.
The agency’s notice says the fee applies to travelers who lack documents such as a passport or a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license. The program creates an alternative identity-verification process that may allow passengers to enter the sterile area of an airport if TSA can confirm their identity.
The fee is nonrefundable and covers the government’s verification expenses.
Yet another reason not to fly … at least on a commercial airling.
If I were President, my first action would be to abolish the TSA.

We saw this happen with racism. As long as I’ve been alive, it’s been bad to be racist in America. But over the decades, the minimum definition of racism went from something like “hating people on account of their race” to “having a private preference for one’s own group over others” to “supporting policies that have a disparate impact on a protected minority” to “not actively struggling to make yourself antiracist.”
Nobody ever wanted to be the guy to stand up and say we’re overrating the problem of racism, or that given its power we should define this word very narrowly. As a result, we got the madness of the Great Awokening throughout the 2010s, culminating in the Summer of Floyd and the events of the next year or two before things subsided and the backlash kicked in.
We see something similar happening with the concept of pedophilia. In recent days, I’ve been arguing that it is of course ridiculous to call Jeffrey Epstein a pedophile, and a lot of responses are along the lines of “you may be technically right but why die on this hill.” I’m convinced, however, that these distinctions are quite important.
He is absolutely correct. Pedophiles are interested in pre-pubescenty children. Ephebophiles, on the other hand, are interested in post-pubescent adolescents below the (sometimes arbitrary) legal age of consent. That’s why the age of consent was as low as 16 i some states and even 14 in others. (You can look it up)
But nobody cares about such distinctions any more, ore even any distinctions at all. What matters is having a rhetorical stick with which to beat the people you don’t like.
Feh.

The chief of staff of the French armed forces addressed the mayors of France with some highly controversial remarks this week. Acknowledging the threats currently facing the European continent and the weakness of French forces, he asked French families to “prepare to lose your children.” Given Macron’s weakness on the international stage and his loss of political credibility, this warmongering tone has not gone down well and has been unanimously condemned by both the Left and the Right.
During his visit to the congress of mayors on Tuesday, November 18th, the chief of staff of the French armed forces, General Fabien Mandon, spoke of the imminence of a military confrontation with Vladimir Putin’s Russia. The language used in his speech caused his audience to jump when he called on the country to “accept the loss of its children.”
The general sought to rouse the mayors of France by pointing out the lack of fighting spirit in today’s France, which is mired in endless stagnation: “We have all the knowledge, all the economic and demographic strength to deter the Moscow regime. What we lack, and this is where you have a major role to play, is the strength of character to accept that we must suffer in order to protect who we are,” he explained. Addressing local elected officials and calling on them to bear witness, given their proximity to the French people, he concluded, “You must talk about this in your cities.”

Tech Turns Faultless Two-Dollar Item into $250 Nightmare
I have good news for people who are justly upset with Ford for making keys ridiculously expensive, fragile, easy for hackers to copy, and hard for owners to copy.
Electronic keys are stupid. The electronic key boom is just one more example of engineers doing things they can, but should not, do. It demonstrates a total lack of common sense.
I have two fobs covered with buttons I don’t really need. They lock and unlock the doors. Don’t need. They open and shut the hatch. Don’t need. I think one of them will start the engine, but I don’t know, because…don’t need. There is also a button to set off the alarm, and that’s nice when I forget where I parked at Walmart, but truthfully…don’t need.
These keys are easy to duplicate. Easy for you and me? No. Easy for punk car thieves. They see you walking to your car. They watch you raise your fob. Then they use a machine to capture the signal. Later, they use it to get into your car. A 15-year-old moron who can’t read and write can do this, but you aren’t allowed to go to a hardware store and have your key copied electronically, like you could copy, oh, EVERY key made before engineers lost their minds.

The number of violent crimes at Berlin central station in 2024 has tripled compared to 2019, which was the last year before the coronavirus crisis. In Cologne, violent crime has grown 70 percent in the same timeframe, according to Welt newspaper.

A feud inside the federal judiciary burst into public view this week after a U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit judge accused his colleague of blatant misconduct in the ruling that blocked Texas’ newly drawn, Republican-leaning congressional map.
In a blistering 104-page dissent released Wednesday, U.S. Circuit Judge Jerry Smith — a former President Ronald Reagan appointee with nearly four decades on the bench — charged District Judge Jeffrey Brown, a 2019 Trump appointee, with what he called “pernicious judicial misbehavior” and the most “outrageous conduct” he has ever witnessed in his career.
The majority opinion, authored by Brown and joined by another judge, an Obama appointee, in a 2-1 vote, halted Texas’ 2025 House redistricting plan on the grounds that challengers were “likely to prove at trial” that the state engineered a racially gerrymandered map.

There have been over 500,000 layoffs in the tech industry since 2022 and recent computer science graduates face a greater unemployment rate in their field than America’s average unemployment rate, Kevin Lynn, the executive director of the Institute for Sound Public Policy, explained during a Heritage Foundation event Wednesday. The H-1B visa program is largely to blame, according to Lynn.
“The H-1B visa program is by far the largest computer sciences guest worker program in existence,” according to Lynn.
In 2023, 134,000 American citizens graduated from computer science programs. That same year, 121,000 foreign workers entered the U.S. to work computer jobs, and among those, 75,000 were in the H-1B visa program, Lynn said.
Since the creation of the H-1B visa program in 1990, the “quantity and the quality of the jobs for computer and engineering professions have suffered greatly for Americans,” Lynn said.

Ha-Joon Chang recently wrote an article in the Financial Times criticising the state of economic education, which drew considerable attention. What went almost unnoticed, however, was a letter published in response. Surprisingly, one of the most prominent Austrian economists, Mario Rizzo, agreed with Chang. He wrote:
“Recently, I had a chance to look at some exams in undergraduate economics courses, including the first course, generally called ‘Principles.’ What I saw was disturbing. The students were given, mainly or only, problem sets of a completely mathematical nature. The emphasis was on mechanical problem-solving. There were no questions involving critical reflection on the ideas or frameworks taught.”
What explains this unlikely agreement between two economists from opposite schools of thought? The simple answer is that there is something wrong with economic education. But the deeper problem lies not in what is taught, but how it is taught.
No, the problem is the entire concept of the ‘field’. Like psychology, economics pretends to be a science whereas it’s actually a new form of astrology.
The foundation of Real Science is mensurability and predictability. Complex systems like the human personality and a large economy are only partially measurable and only statistically predictable. If you drop a rock, you can measure how fast it falls and how far it falls; you can predict how far and how fast it will fall and be right every single time. If you try to measure an ‘economy’, or predict what it will do, you can only quantify a very limited portion and you can only make predictions in terms of probabilities.
Ask an economist what his field is all about and he will say, “Production, distribution, and trade.” WRONG. “Economics” deals with production and distribution only to the extent that what is produced or distributed is traded. If I cut down a tree, cut it into boards, and make myself a workbench, economics has nothing to say about it: it cannot be measured, nor can it be predicted, because no part of it was traded. If I give that workbench to my brother-in-law, economics has nothing to say about it: it cannot be measured, nor can it be predicted, because no part of it was traded. ECONOMICS DEALS ONLY WITH TRADE, and production/distribution only as things produced/distributed are traded.
Consider the classic tool of ‘economics, the famous supply and demand curves. Those deal only with trade, as made plain by the fact that one of the dimensions of the graph is price, a thing that only has importance in trade. If the price of widgets rises from A to B, the number of widgets people are willing to buy will drop from X to Y. Who is offering those widgets? Economics can’t say. Who is buying those widgets? Economics can’t say. It can only say that in general when the price goes up the amount sold (TRADED) goes down. When the price goes up but the number sold (TRADED) stays the same, economics can’t tell you WHY; all it can do is some hand-waving about “inelastic demand”, which is another way of saying “We don’t know.”

A new report from the University of California, San Diego has ignited a viral conversation on social media, because it demonstrates the alarming lack of preparation among incoming freshmen for college-level math courses.
Produced by UCSD’s Senate-Administration Working Group on Admissions, the report found the university “has experienced a steep decline in the academic preparation of its entering first-year students—particularly in mathematics.”
The UCSD employs a testing and placement system to assign incoming freshmen to the appropriate mathematics course based on their backgrounds. This process ensures that students meet the requirements for their chosen majors. In 2016, the placement test identified fewer than 100 students—approximately 1% of the incoming cohort—who needed to take a remedial math class to address gaps in their high school math knowledge.

A key reason Democrats make so many Republicans grind our molars is that they will not take responsibility for their own gargantuan failures. Instead, Democrats blame the GOP for the damage that they inflict on America.
It’s bad enough when someone takes a skillet and repeatedly wallops you across the back of your head. What really irks is when that person then screams at you: “Stop smacking your skull with a skillet!”
This is a big part of why Democrats have become utterly insufferable.

More people are falling behind on paying their bills to keep on the lights and heat their homes, according to a new analysis of consumer data — a warning sign for the U.S. economy and another political headache for President Donald Trump.
Past due balances to utility companies jumped 9.7% annually to $789 between the April-June periods of 2024 and 2025, said The Century Foundation, a liberal think tank. The increase has overlapped with a 12% jump in monthly energy bills during the same period.
Consumers usually prioritize their utility bills along with their mortgages and auto debt, said Julie Margetta Morgan, the foundation’s president. The increase in both energy costs and delinquencies may suggest that consumers are falling behind on other bills, too.

Europe is facing a growing wave of anti-Christian violence, with Germany recording the highest number of arson attacks in 2024. According to the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC Europe), a total of 2,211 anti-Christian offenses were documented across the continent, including 274 personal attacks involving physical violence and threats.
Analysts warn that these figures reflect a climate of growing intolerance that affects local communities in concrete ways.
While Europe saw a slight decrease from 2,444 offenses in 2023, OIDAC Europe attributes this to incomplete data collection. Serious incidents included the fatal November 2024 attack on a 76-year-old monk in a Spanish monastery and an ISIS-related killing of a worshipper during Sunday Mass in Istanbul in January 2024. In France, a historic church in Saint-Omer was almost completely destroyed in an arson attack, while in Dijon, tear gas was sprayed during a Seventh-Day Adventist service, injuring nine people.

In Oxfordshire, England, along the River Cherwell, a massive illegal landfill has been discovered. Over a stretch of 150 meters, tons of waste have accumulated, posing a serious environmental threat. This is not an isolated incident in England, which now faces the mafia-like structures of its waste and water industry.
Oxfordshire, located northwest of London, is usually a tranquil natural paradise. The county is home not only to the world-famous University of Oxford – it has now also become the scene of a striking environmental scandal.
Over a length of 150 meters in the river’s floodplain, hundreds of tons of plastic waste have piled up. A massive ecological disaster is looming: toxic substances could seep into the groundwater if the river overflows during heavy rains.
Calum Miller, the Liberal Democrat MP for the constituency, demanded immediate government cleanup efforts to prevent an environmental and groundwater catastrophe.

Researchers at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering have used machine learning to design nano-architected materials that have the strength of carbon steel but the lightness of Styrofoam.
In a new paper published in Advanced Materials, a team led by Professor Tobin Filleter (MIE) describes how they made nanomaterials with properties that offer a conflicting combination of exceptional strength, light weight and customizability. The approach could benefit a wide range of industries, from automotive to aerospace.
“Nano-architected materials combine high performance shapes, like making a bridge out of triangles, at nanoscale sizes, which takes advantage of the ‘smaller is stronger’ effect, to achieve some of the highest strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios, of any material,” says Peter Serles (MIE MASc 1T9, MIE PhD?2T4), the first author of the new paper.
“However, the standard lattice shapes and geometries used tend to have sharp intersections and corners, which leads to the problem of stress concentrations. This results in early local failure and breakage of the materials, limiting their overall potential.
“As I thought about this challenge, I realized that it is a perfect problem for machine learning to tackle.”

The recent wealth tax increase in Norway was expected to bring in an additional $146M in yearly tax revenue.
Instead, individuals worth $54B left the country, leading to a lost $594M in yearly wealth tax revenue.
That’s a net decrease of $448M+.
The mass departure of Norway’s billionaires has transformed into an unprecedented exodus, as the nation’s tax administration grapples with one of Europe’s most demanding wealth tax and income tax rates. Last year marked a watershed moment in this capital flight, with more than NOK 600 billion in assets leaving the country as high-net-worth individuals increasingly opted for tax havens over their homeland.
The phenomenon has caught the attention of global media, with The Guardian and other outlets documenting the steady stream of super-rich Norwegians seeking refuge in more financially hospitable jurisdictions.

As Germans do….
In its latest annual report, Germany’s Council of Economic Experts — once regarded as a market-oriented corrective to government excess — has presented what can only be described as a courtesy opinion. Rather than challenging the political status quo, the five “wise men” largely echo Berlin’s own agenda: more state intervention, higher taxes, and tighter regulation.
On Wednesday, the council presented its annual report at the federal press conference. For the first time, Chancellor Friedrich Merz received the economists’ assessment in person. What they handed him, however, reads less like independent advice and more like a compilation of familiar political slogans.
At the top of the list stands — yet again — the call for “cutting bureaucracy,” a mantra repeated endlessly but never realized. Meanwhile, the council ignores the core problem: the German economy is suffocating under its own regulatory machinery. In the past three years alone, businesses have had to hire roughly 325,000 additional staff just to deal with the avalanche of new rules — a massive diversion of resources that adds nothing to productivity.
My, what a surprise.

Former University of Virginia President James Ryan has released a letter describing why he resigned over the summer, saying the Department of Justice threatened to cut off federal funding unless he stepped down.
The Hill reported that he said the pressure came during the larger Trump administration push targeting colleges and universities.
The DOJ has denied calling for his removal.
Imagine an institution that is so dependent on ‘federal funding’ that it’s more important to that institution than who the President is.
Imagine an institution where the President is so dedicated to doing DEI shit that he would quit his job rather than drop it.

Tuesday’s PBS News Hour committed some serious bias by omission in Stephane Sy’s report from the campus of UCLA, home to actual Jew exclusion zones during the 2024 wave of pro-Hamas protests that plagued progressive college campuses. This August, UCLA settled with three Jewish students and a Jewish professor over the university failing to protect their civil rights against anti-Semitic campus mobs, which installed a so-called “Jew exclusion zone” erected and patrolled by campus protesters — with the aid of UCLA’s administration.
But those devastating details didn’t make the cut of Sy’s story, which instead accused President Trump of squelching academic freedom (for leftists, anyway) at UCLA, which was in the news for not having settled with the administration over, among other issues, anti-semitism on campus.

1913 was a terrible year for America and human freedom.
It was the year Congress passed the Federal Reserve Act and ratified the 16th Amendment to the US Constitution, which authorized a federal income tax.
At first glance, these two unfortunate developments may seem unrelated. Yet what are the odds that the US would adopt both a central bank and an income tax in the very same year?
It seems implausible that this was the result of mere chance.
In fact, upon closer examination, the Federal Reserve system depends on an income tax to function as it does.
If anyone ever asks “Who hurt you?” tell them “Woodrow Wilson”.

China and other foreign adversaries are abusing American birthright citizenship to have American children through surrogacy. But one Republican Senator has a plan to criminalize the growing surrogacy industry for foreigners.
Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., recently introduced a bill called the Stopping Adversarial Foreign Exploitation of Kids in Domestic Surrogacy (SAFE KIDS) Act that would prevent adversarial nations, specifically China, from using and taking advantage of American women to obtain U.S. citizenship for their child.
I wonder how long it took to make up a name for the bill that worked out to a catchy acronym.
“[Surrogacy] should never be the avenue to allow abuse, neglect, or deceit of innocent women and babies,” Sen. Rick Scott said in a press release. “And it’s terrifying that this might be at the hands of foreign adversaries with the sole intent of having a child that is a U.S. citizen.”
End birthright citizenship and it wouldn’t be a problem. The distinguished gentleman is treating the symptom, not the disease.

Gregory Svirnovskiy of Politico has a very special gift of being able to ignore the more than obvious elephants in the room. This was on full display on Wednesday when he wrote about Jack Kennedy Schlossberg announcing his candidacy for the New York congressional seat now held by by retiring Congressman Jerry Nadler in “Schlossberg officially launches New York House campaign.”
One of the elephants in the room is Schlossberg’s almost non-existent work history at the age of 32 which Svirnovskiy seems either unaware of or just ignores.
He’s the son of a Kennedy. Why would he have a work history?

For the second straight year, about one in five Americans say they would like to leave the U.S. and move permanently to another country if they could. This heightened desire to migrate is driven primarily by younger women.
In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups.
They’ve discovered that, feminist propaganda to the contrary, they really can’t ‘have it all’. Very few men want to marry a ‘boss babe’, and those that do don’t fit the preferences of Modern Women. There aren’t enough hunky billionaires to go around.

Every month, around 300 to 500 public school teachers are arrested or charged for incidents involving a minor, including sexual assault on minors. The majority of these cases do not receive much attention in the media and often school districts will “pass the trash”; quietly removing an offending teacher and using confidentiality agreements to cover up incidents, allowing that employee to simply move on to another school district and repeat the pattern all over again.
These cases tend to start with lewd conduct – Teachers acting inappropriately or making sexualized comments with multiple students. They are punished by school officials, but the action is kept under wraps. The teacher then moves to another county and does something even worse.
For example, a teacher in NJ became the subject of a media firestorm last year when he was caught in multiple instances over the course of several years engaging in sexual discussions and behavior with students. These incidents including dropping items in front of female students, telling them to pick up the objects so that he could look at them from behind as they bent over. There were also several reports of the teacher discussing his personal sex life with children and making bizarre comments about how the girls in his class looked “cute”.
Despite New Jersey making laws against “pass the trash” practices, schools flouted the restrictions and hid groomer teachers anyway. Lewd conduct often ends up leading to physical abuse if teachers are not outed right away.
Moral: Don’t send your kid to a government school.

Greece’s new age verification system found that the majority of asylum seekers are lying about their age, claiming to be minors, Migration and Asylum Minister Thanos Plevris said on Tuesday, November 12th.
Plevris stated that out of 104 cases reviewed since late August, 59 individuals were determined to be over 18. “The repercussions for those who filed a false statement are self-evident,” he said.
The new, stricter verification process requires age determination to be completed “once and on the same day” using three methods: a medical evaluation of physical development, a psychosocial assessment, and an X-ray of the applicant’s left wrist to assess skeletal maturity. Officials say the system is designed to prevent adults from posing as minors to gain preferential legal protections.

Kyiv is keen to speed up EU accession talks and is preparing to bring top European leaders together to show force against those blocking the move. But the case of these opponents is growing stronger as more and more reports emerge about possible corruption within Volodymyr Zelensky’s administration.
Justice Minister German Galushchenko was suspended from his post on Wednesday morning amid a corruption investigation into the country’s energy sector. This was just two days after anti-corruption agencies announced their probe into a “large-scale” corruption scheme in the country’s energy sector, which is said to have taken place while Galushchenko was energy minister. The investigation is linked to money laundering of as much as $100 million (€86.4 million) through an office in Kyiv.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said the suspension followed an “extraordinary session of the government.” Galushchenko welcomed the decision on social media, saying “suspension during the investigation is a civilised and correct scenario” and that “I will defend myself in the legal sphere and prove my position.”
