But what if we were to tell you that the CPB funded one of America’s “fact-checking” giants backed by George Soros responsible for censoring conservatives on social media platforms for years? Because that’s exactly what we’re about to tell you.

MRC Business discovered that the CPB, which is fully funded by tax dollars through federal appropriations, gave $599,330 to the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in 2023.

Poynter, which runs the left-tilting International Fact-Checking Network, was heavily invested in helping Big Tech platforms like Facebook widely censor supposedly “troublesome” opinions on the COVID-19 virus, amongst other topics, like elections and abortion.

What’s worse is that liberal billionaires like George Soros, eBay co-founder Pierre Omidyar and others are also some of IFCN’s most infamous financiers, further compounding the First Amendment concerns that government funds could have potentially been used to silence Americans.

Multiple leftist media outlets attacked Swedish pastor Håkan Persson, the parish priest of Markaryd, after a recent social media post in which he criticized the new rainbow-colored, LGBT-friendly vestments designed to be the symbol of the progressivism of the Church of Sweden.

In his Facebook post, Persson stated that the rainbow-colored chasuble and stole, designed at the initiative of the Västerås diocese, “will not enter Markaryd’s church as long as I am vicar.”

While the media paints him as acting from “a hidden minority-intolerant agenda” and accuses him of discriminating against the LGBT community in his parish, the priest insists he merely follows the liturgical rules of the church, and his doors remain open to anyone, but not to momentary political trends and sexual advertising.

“In the Church of Sweden, we have liturgical vestments that follow the church year. We actually have rules for that,” Persson explained. Anything other than white, red, green, and purple, depending on the liturgical season, is inconsistent with the Church’s official guidelines, he said.

On the breast pocket of that trenchcoat is a name tag that reads “The Cloud.” Under that name tag is an older name tag that reads “The Internet.” And under that name tag is a frayed embroidery that reads, “ARPANET (non-commercial use only, motherfuckers),” in a lovely script typeface and craftsmanship you just don’t see nowadays.
Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta (GAMM) now own most of the steel and glass that makes the internet go vroom. Google, Amazon, and Microsoft control seventy-five percent of the cloud computing market[1]. Meta and Google own half of the fiber optic cables supplying internet services across continents[2]. Most of our favorite productivity apps, retail websites, and social media platforms are beholden to proprietary infrastructure controlled by these four corporations. They own the most heavily trafficked server networks, all the GPUs, and gigawatts, and whatever.
They call it the cloud, but really, that’s just the internet.
So, what we know as the cloud doesn’t actually exist. It’s a euphemism that obfuscates the consolidation of critical infrastructure. The cloud is metaphysical porn for wild-eyed technocrats in Allbirds who say things like, “I’m making a dent in the universe” without a whisper of irony. It’s bullshit. It’s fugazi. There is no spoon, Neo.
The cloud is a lie.

Airline deregulation in the United States didn’t mean that airlines were no longer regulated. In fact airlines are one of the most heavily regulated businesses in the country. Instead what it meant was that the government would no longer be the one to decide which routes airlines could fly, and what prices they had to charge.

The Civil Aeronautics Board focused on eliminating ‘ruinous’ competition and ensuring prices were high enough, and competition limited enough, that airlines could earn a consistent profit.

However when you set prices high, airlines compete for customer business in other ways. Each ticket was lucrative, so they’d spend money on customers – for instance on service and food and beverage – to attract more ticket sales.

Airlines also colluded to limit inflight drink service. U.S. airlines entered into an agreement not to serve customers more than two drinks back in 1956, but the agreement fell apart in 1971 as carriers competed for business.

The CAB actually discussed whether they needed to regulate the thickness of sandwiches on board, because airlines were getting too competitive on food. They were charging high prices for tickets, but spending that money right back on the customer – and the government meant to stop it.

Somehow I had forgotten that there were, once, actual regulations on inflight sandwiches – at least for international flights.

That’s not all he forgot. He is totally oblivious to the fact that all of this is caused by government interference in the industry; he just ignores it on his proglodyte way to bashing the airlines. (Proglodytes live in fear that somebody somewhere is making a profit.)

I’ve noticed that, ever since Trump’s 2024 election and especially since he took office in January, some of my Trump-hating friends and acquaintances have gotten even angrier at Trump and angrier at those who support him, as compared to Trump’s first term. Here are my ideas about why that’s happened.

(1) Trump’s first term victory was considered a fluke and this one was not. Therefore they believe the electorate has become more evil and/or stupid.

(2) In Trump’s first term, they could claim that he didn’t “really” win because he didn’t win the popular vote. In the second term, he won the popular vote.

(3) Efforts to sabotage Trump’s first term – such as Russiagate – were immediately successful in that they convinced a lot of people and also had a restrictive effect on Trump in terms of what he could accomplish and how much energy he could devote to his policy aims versus fighting the lies.

(4) There were many people in Trump’s first administration who either weren’t onboard with his goals or were actively against them. This is far less true in his second term.

(5) He hit the ground running in his second term.

(6) During the Biden administration, Democrats watched Biden undo a great deal of what Trump had done in his first term. And now they’re having the nightmarish experience of watching Trump II undo what Biden did, or re-do what Biden had undone.

(7) One of the most awful things about the 2024 election, as far as the Democrats are concerned, was their loss of support in several of the groups on which their power depends: black and Hispanic voters. They’re not sure what to do about that.

(8) The Trump assassination attempt in Butler galls them, because it was such a close call and many really really wish Trump had been killed. His seemingly miraculous survival is especially frustrating.

(9) They thought that their lawfare against Trump would work either to put him in prison or at the very least to turn more voters against them. Instead it had the opposite effect, another dramatically and deeply frustrating result. It’s something like the classic scene in a horror movie in which the hero or heroine thinks the monster is gone and is finally able to relax and then bam! The monster pounces.

More than 200 students at Cheltenham High School in suburban Philadelphia have petitioned for the school’s alumni hall of fame to eject Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who graduated from the school in 1967.

Officers of the school’s alumni association are meeting with school district officials on Friday to consider the petition, according to a report in The New York Times, which said the association’s secretary privately said the group was inclined “to keep Netanyahu up, but maybe with an update in his biography.” Netanyahu was added to the hall of fame in 1999, during his first stint as prime minister.

The petition, submitted last month by roughly 15% of students, cited Netanyahu’s criminal indictment and arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court accusing him of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, the newspaper reported. Netanyahu denies the criminal charges against him and Israel rejects the allegation that it has committed war crimes in Gaza, where it has been battling Hamas since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

Netanyahu is an American citizen, as was his elder brother Yonatan, hero of the Entebbe Raid and a Harvard man.

“ICE is trash,” announced the handwritten note, placed atop a pile of garbage, dumped on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer’s front lawn. Another vulgar note threatened the officer by name.

Such personal intimidation of law enforcement officers is part of an escalating trend of violence, as the left-wing agitators that pitched Black Lives Matter riots five summers ago now direct their inappropriate ire against Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the agency tasked with enforcing federal immigration law.

After failing to deter ICE law enforcement efforts through mass rioting in Los Angeles, lawless radicals have adopted tactics that might be called more “sophisticated,” although they remain just as sinister.

“Criminals have posted fliers in officers’ neighborhoods, that includes their name, address, pictures of them and their families,” warned the Department of Homeland Security. “These fliers threaten officers with text that says, ‘NO PEACE FOR ICE’ and ‘CHINGA LA MIGRA’ (translation: F— immigration services).”

In addition, “multiple organizations” have published the personal information of ICE officers on “anarchist and Antifa-affiliated” websites, DHS added.

As a result of these doxing campaigns, as well as street agitation, violence against ICE officers has increased 830% between Jan. 21 and July 14 of this year, compared to the same period in 2024, DHS announced in a Tuesday statement obtained by The Washington Stand.

Yet here we are. Far-left NGO networks, some aligned with Marxist ideology, attempted coordinated acts of civil unrest in Los Angeles last month, including arson and insurrectionist behavior.

Simultaneously, operatives tied to far-left color revolution operations, including the Indivisible movement, have targeted Elon Musk and President Trump. In fact, Indivisible has maintained a continuous, nationwide protest pressure campaign against Trump.

Just yesterday, Indivisible foot soldiers were spotted outside Carnegie Mellon’s facilities in Pittsburgh, where the President Trump attended an Energy and Innovation Summit.

Abramson’s column reads like a Free Beacon greatest hits collection. It has a lot of them. The hits keep on coming and the column is entertaining. Abramson apparently spoke with Free Beacon reporter Aaron Sibarium, who has written several of the greatest hits, and quotes him in the column.

Abramson is a classic media lefty with self-awareness asymptotically approaching negative territory. The Free Beacon seeks to report on the left and on Democrats like the mainstream press does on Republicans, but, in my opinion, with a higher standard of accuracy and fairness. Searching for analogues, however, the best Abramson can do is David Brock’s reporting on the Clintons in days of old at the American Spectator.

Macdonald was, as Patrice Dutil noted in his essential rebuttal to this iconoclasm, remarkably progressive for his period, but activists have scavenged the historical record to cherry-pick quotes that sound racist to modern ears. References to Indigenous peoples as savages, for example, are touted as the measure of the man rather than a summation of the era.

The iconoclasts, however, do not explain why American Indians frequently fled across the border to the safety of Macdonald’s Canada to escape the U.S. Army, and do not mention that the government sent them supplies to ensure their survival on the winter prairies. When rations ran out—Dutil emphasizes Macdonald’s genuine anguish over this—the history is slanderously rewritten as a deliberate attempt to starve Indigenous people to prop up the “genocide” narrative. That, Dutil notes, is simply “not the case.”

Indeed, most Canadians are unaware of the fact that Macdonald made statements in defense of Indigenous rights against genuinely racist opposition and his own political interests, and even advocated for their political enfranchisement.

Police have launched a hate incident investigation after a bonfire topped with an effigy depicting channel migrants was set alight in Northern Ireland.

A boat carrying mannequins wearing lifejackets topped the towering bonfire in Moygashel, County Tyrone. Banners which read “stop the boats”, “veterans before refugees” and “stop illegal immigration” were fixed to the pallets. An Irish tricolour flag was also placed on the tower.

The bonfire was lit on Thursday night as part of a Unionist tradition ahead of the Protestant loyal orders July 12 parades, despite police saying they were investigating the “hate incident”.

Politicians and religious leaders have condemned the bonfire as “racist, threatening and offensive”.

Democracy is worth defending unless the Ruling Class doesn’t like it.

The New York Times wants you to know something very important about Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor: When he was 17 years old applying to college, he checked multiple boxes on a race question.

That’s it. That’s the story.

On Thursday, the Times published what it apparently considered a major scoop about how Mamdani — who is of Indian descent, was born in Uganda, and lived in South Africa before moving to America at age 7 — identified himself as both “Asian” and “Black or African American” on his 2009 Columbia University application. He also wrote in “Ugandan” to clarify his background, tried to represent his complex identity within the limited options available, and was rejected from the school anyway.

This might strike you as a complete non-story. A teenager filling out college forms tried to accurately capture that he was, quite literally, an Asian person from Africa? Stop the presses! But the Times didn’t just report this as some minor curiosity. They splashed it across their website and ran a print headline suggesting scandal — “Mamdani Faces Scrutiny Over College Application” — and gave his opponent, Eric Adams, prime real estate to declare this was “an insult to every student who got into college the right way.”

Here’s what makes this journalistic malpractice even worse: The Times got this “scoop” from a white supremacist who had access to a hacked Columbia’s admissions database. They knew this. They gave him anonymity anyway. And according to Semafor’s reporting, they rushed to publish because they were terrified of being beaten to the story by Christopher Rufo, the right-wing activist who manufactured the “critical race theory” panic.

Just a reminder that however Woke the Narrative Media might be, there are always packs of jackals on the Left waiting for them to commit sins of ideological impurity against Holy Identity Politics.

Look at the people who are always obsessed about race. You won’t find them on the right.

After a proposal of ‘forced integration’ was approved at the party congress in May, the Swedish Social Democrats are now outlining what their plan is, should they return to power after next year’s parliamentary elections.

The fact that native Swedes—as well as immigrants—tend to gravitate toward living in communities with people of similar background is a problem, according to the Social Democrats. To solve the problem, their proposal includes ending asylum seekers’ right to choose their own housing, banning the placement of newcomers in so-called vulnerable areas, and restricting moves there by threatening to cut social benefits.

In an interview with Svenska Dagbladet, Sara Kukka-Salam, a member of the party leadership, says native Swedes who want to live among other native Swedes are racist.

“We have a housing market where you can live wherever you want. But choosing not to live next to someone based on their last name is racism,” she said.

The essence of totalitarianism, of which socialism is an ancient flavor, is “You have to live the way I want you to live, not the way you want to live.” Totalitarianism entered the United States officially with the Civil Rights Acts, which eliminated the formerly undoubted right of Freedom of Association. When the government tells you with whom you may and may not associate, you are not free.

When reality does not mesh with the “narrative,” the left’s standard tactic is to turn to censorship, and the French left is no different. The French Greens and other left-wing parties now want to make sure that news stories are not used for ideological purposes by the “far right,” claiming that certain media outlets are causing a “moral panic” around immigration due to migrant murders.

According to a parliamentary amendment tabled on June 25, 2025, by a group of Green and left-wing MPs in the National Assembly, news stories of actual events that have happened, and actual lives lost, are being improperly used by the right.

Another post from the French Observatory for Journalism ,wrote: “BREAKING NEWS | Green and left-wing deputies submit an amendment to REDUCE the coverage of crime stories in PUBLIC media. The authors believe these stories are used for ‘political exploitation;’ the text cites the murders of Lola and Thomas.”

Last week, on June 26th, the European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (EPF) launched The Next Wave, a “report” that purports to expose the rise of so-called “anti-gender” and “anti-feminist” religious actors in Europe, whose goal is to “dismantle decades of hard-won sexual and reproductive rights across Europe.”

Cloaked in the language of human rights, the document is, in truth, a politically charged dossier; reading more like a counter-terrorist threat assessment, and explicitly paints religious advocacy groups as part of an organized extremist threat that needs to be stopped at all costs.

“A new alliance of religious extremists, far-right populists, and oligarchic funders” is trying to “launder religious extremism into mainstream governance through media, NGOs, political parties, and public institutions,” the authors claim, blind to the irony that EPF itself is bankrolled by powerful lobby groups and is embedded in EU institutions that turn its activism into legislation.

The Trump-led DOJ has charged four individuals in connection with the violent anti-ICE riots that broke out in June in Oregon.

Only four? ONLY FOUR? Sorry, but ‘four’ doesn’t make a riot.

The defendants, some allegedly caught on video, spent several weeks targeting an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and assaulting federal officers, prosecutors said in a press statement on Tuesday.

One of the individuals, 31?year?old August Dean Gordon, pulled a proximity card reader from its stanchion on the facility’s driveway. He kicked, grabbed and injured five officers during his arrest, the DOJ said.

That same evening, 33?year?old Nadya?Malinowska refused orders to leave the site. Meanwhile, 35?year?old David?Pearl attempted to interfere with officers’ arrest of another rioter.

Just one year after his landslide election win, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been forced into a humiliating U-turn on welfare reform—exposing not only the weakness of his leadership, but the rise of radical left-wing forces within his own party.

Faced with the threat of mass rebellion from Labour backbenchers, Starmer abruptly dropped the core of his disability benefit reform plan just 90 minutes before a key vote in Parliament. Despite his overwhelming majority in the House of Commons, Starmer was held hostage by his own MPs. Forty-nine Labour members defied the whip and voted against the Bill, while 19 abstained. The result was not just a policy retreat—it was a clear signal that Starmer is no longer in control of his government.

The heatwave sweeping across Europe is expected to reach France on Tuesday, July 1st, with temperatures in some regions expected to exceed 40°C (104°F). In Paris, the thermometer has already reached 38°C (100°F), which is particularly high for this time of year. How can we combat the heatwave? Air conditioning, which is struggling to gain ground in France, is becoming a political issue: the Right is calling for it, while leftist greens condemn it.

Faced with the heat, mayors across the country have taken the inevitable decision to close classrooms and sometimes entire schools. In some poorly constructed school buildings, which are not maintained due to a lack of funds, the temperature had already exceeded 30°C (86°F) in the early morning; it is impossible to teach properly in these conditions, especially with young children.

But not everyone is happy with these closures. Élisabeth Borne, former prime minister and now minister of national education, has strongly criticised the mayor of the Tours metropolitan area for closing schools, which she considers excessive and politically motivated. The mayor of Tours, outraged by the attitude of politicians who work in air-conditioned offices in Paris, cordially invited Borne to hold the cabinet meeting in a classroom so she could see the situation for herself.

Despite the U.S. Supreme Court passing on hearing their case last year, the Trump administration’s Department of Justice has opened an investigation into the allegations.

Belgian conservative-nationalist Dries Van Langenhove has again been sentenced on appeal to one year in prison as a suspended sentence for what the judge said were violations of the Racism and Negationism Act.

We’ll give you a ‘suspended sentence’ so that if you open your mouth wrong we can sling you in jail without any bother.

The sentence stems from racist memes that were not even posted by him, but by members of a group chat he administrated seven years ago.

The sentence was delivered today by the Court of Appeal in Ghent, although Van Langenhove does not accept the sentence, and the case now goes into cassation.

Last week, the Trump White House hosted PragerU CEO Marissa Streit to launch a patriotic exhibit called “The Founders Museum,” a joint effort involving the White House, PragerU, and the Department of Education.

That seems a rather odd thing for an “antigovernment extremist group” to do, yet that’s exactly the label the Southern Poverty Law Center applies to PragerU. According to the SPLC, this nonprofit, best known for its five-minute educational videos, secretly works to “protect white supremacy” and belongs on a “hate map” with chapters of America’s most notorious hate group, the Ku Klux Klan.

I did a scan of the news coverage, and our Daily Signal column reporting on the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association petitioning the president for the pardon was the only one I could find that delved into Jenkins’ court proceedings and the judge’s restrictions on the sheriff’s defense. The judge limited Jenkins’ ability to present contradicting testimony and the timeline of events that preceded the Department of Justice’s “sting operation” against him.

To many, that sting operation seemed intended to ensnare the sheriff for joining other Virginia sheriffs in declaring their counties would be “sanctuaries” for gun owners after the Democrat-controlled Virginia General Assembly proposed several anti-Second Amendment bills. Jenkins was also gaining significant national media attention for this as well as for being part of the team investigating the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

But to the public that only saw the TV or local newspaper coverage, Jenkins had been found guilty of the kind of corruption that in most circumstances would be abhorrent to a conservative. He was accused of selling auxiliary deputy positions in his department for campaign contributions.

A volunteer has been banned from a railway charity scheme in the UK after he asked a basic question regarding a train that had been wrapped in ‘Pride’ colours.

The Telegraph reports, “Matthew Toomer, 48, was thrown out of West Midlands Railway’s ‘Adopt a Station’ scheme after he privately contacted company bosses to express concern about its ‘Progress Pride’ train.”

There are troubling reports that the Ontario Food Terminal—the largest wholesale fruit and produce hub in Canada, moving 2 billion pounds annually—has been disrupted by far-left activists chanting “Free Palestine.”

“Masked protesters stage a blockade at the Ontario Food Terminal, preventing freight trucks from accessing Canada’s largest wholesale fruit and vegetable distribution center,” citizen journalist “CarymaRules” wrote on X early Sunday morning, adding, “The demonstration began shortly before 2:00AM, ahead of the day’s scheduled deliveries.”

Seattle police said they arrested 23 people Saturday after left-wing protesters confronted Christian activists at a prayer rally held in a popular LGBTQ neighborhood.

Protesters waving transgender flags gathered on the outside of a “Mayday USA” Christian rally when police said multiple people in one demonstration started throwing items at the other group around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

“Officers immediately moved to arrest the people responsible, and while taking the individuals into custody, were assaulted by more protesters, resulting in even more arrests,” police said in a news release.

The year of 2020 was an unmitigated disaster for the US for numerous reasons. With so many chaotic events happening simultaneously, one can be forgiven if they have completely forgotten about the bizarre CHAZ/CHOP takeover of a section of Seattle by woke activists for around a month. The protest led to extensive violence and some deaths, but was widely supported by city officials. It was also a wellspring of hilarious memes as ignorant protesters tried in vain to establish a self sustaining progressive community complete with socialist garden spaces.

Seattle is one of the few leftist enclaves in the US still clinging to the old days of BLM and covid mandates, and they are back in the news again. This time because of an organized and violent mob attack on a peaceful Christian rally this week at Cal Anderson Park. The rally, held by a group called Mayday USA, spoke on pro-life issues and against transgender hormones and surgeries for children.

A rabbi whom pro-Hamas activists assaulted last year urged the Department of Justice on Thursday to investigate Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), alleging that officers have been ordered “not to enforce D.C. law against anti-Israel protesters.”

Anti-Israel activists assaulted Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld—leader of Washington’s Yeshivas Elimelech Jewish studies center—while he prayed outside the Israeli embassy. The protesters, who had demonstrated near the embassy since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack, attempted to disrupt Herzfeld’s prayer by blasting sirens in his ear, ultimately damaging his hearing.

Herzfeld approached the MPD officers after the assault, asking why they did not intervene. The officers “told Rabbi Herzfeld that they had been instructed not to enforce the noise ordinances against Palestinian protesters who protested outside the Israel Embassy,” his letter to the Justice Department reads.

A Florida woman has been charged with battery for allegedly assaulting a 72-year-old man who was wearing a Make America Great Again hat, reports Fox News.

Florida police say Laura Garrett, 33, assaulted Garry Gama in the community of Largo on Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. She was also charged with battery on a police office and obstructing or resisting arrest.

“The defendant and the 72-year-old victim were at the park when a verbal argument broke out between them regarding the victim wearing a ‘MAGA’ hat,” an affidavit read.

Major defense contractor Lockheed Martin announced Thursday that it will phase out employee resource groups, which divide workers along racial, LGBTQ, and activism lines, after President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders and after shareholders expressed concern about an anti-Christian double standard.

“As we shared in January, Lockheed Martin took immediate action to ensure compliance with President Trump’s Executive Order 14173, encouraging merit-based talent management practices within U.S. companies,” Lockheed Martin Chairman, President, and CEO Jim Taiclet said in an email to staff shared with The Daily Signal.

The executive order, issued Jan. 21, declared that “diversity, equity, and inclusion” efforts in the federal government, companies, the medical industry, higher education, and other places can violate federal civil rights laws, which bar discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. The order directs federal agencies to encourage the private sector “to end illegal DEI discrimination and preferences.”

In the order’s wake, Lockeed Martin “conducted a thorough review of our efforts to recruit, retain, and promote the best aerospace and defense talent in the world to ensure full alignment with the executive order and our core values—Do What’s Right, Respect Others, and Perform with Excellence,” Taiclet shared.

Tom Wolfe’s much-quoted adage is that “the dark night of fascism is always descending on America but always lands in Europe.” In a similar vein, one can say that the authorities and the press are always looking for “domestic terrorism” on the right, but in fact, it consistently comes from the left.

The latest left-wing terrorist is Elias Rodriguez. Rodriguez was obsessed with Israel and chanted “Free, free Palestine” after murdering Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, just as if he were participating in a demonstration at Columbia. He left behind a self-justification on Twitter in which he called Israel a “genocidal apartheid state,” a sentiment that could have come from a number of members of Congress. Israel is so evil, according to Rodriguez, that “to many Americans,” murdering Israelis is “in some funny way, the only sane thing to do.”

As is generally the case these days, Rodriguez’s hatred of Israel (and, I assume, Jews in general) was squarely located in a left-wing context. He was a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, which is now distancing itself from his murders. He participated in at least one Chicago demonstration sponsored by the Communist organization International ANSWER. In his Twitter self-glorification, Rodriguez praised just one other anti-Zionist, Aaron Bushnell. Bushnell was the Air Force member who set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington. Bushnell, too, was a leftist. The New York Times says that Bushnell threw “himself into leftist and anarchist activism, talking often about alleviating poverty and opposing capitalism.”

In 2021 Loudon County Schools in Virginia were implementing DEI policies that allowed for trans students to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of their preferred gender. The institutional decision to let trans students essentially do whatever they please regardless of safety concerns led to an incident in May of that year in which a trans girl (boy pretending to be a girl) sexually assaulted a female student in a school bathroom.

The Loudon case sparked a national firestorm, not just because of the rape (which the boy was eventually convicted of), but because of the reported attempts by school officials to cover up the attack.

The teen perpetrator was found criminally responsible for two counts of sodomy in the May 28 incident at Stone Bridge High School and a separate incident on Oct. 6 at Broad Run High School after he was transferred to that school. He was placed on supervised probation in a locked juvenile treatment facility until his 18th birthday.

The narrative suggests that lifting weights, building discipline, and taking responsibility for your body are somehow dangerous acts. The Guardian claims that getting in shape could turn you into a “right-wing jerk,” while TIME runs pieces on “the white supremacist origins of exercise.” MSNBC warns that during the pandemic, workout trends ended up leading to “extreme” ideologies.

Seriously? Can we just stop with the nonsense?

I’ll tell you the real reason fitness is under attack. It breeds autonomy. And autonomous men are a threat to systems built on dependence and compliance.

The two-day ‘Reactionary politics, women, and feminist critique’ conference at Loughborough University in Leicestershire, England, starting on Wednesday, May 21st, promises a keynote on ‘Feminism After Neoliberalism and the New Far Right’—economic and political perspectives that are typically difficult to reconcile.

“This event focuses on women and feminised popular culture in the context of resurgent reactionary politics,” the organisers advertise, effortlessly linking ‘reactionary’ and ‘far right.’ One of the major smears thrown from Brussels at the growing populist revolt is effortlessly integrated into higher education’s vocabulary, almost as if it has been captured by the Left (spoiler: it has).

Sponsored by the European Journal of Cultural Studies, speakers at the conference promise to tackle “Popular feminism, the gig economy, and the discursive potency of women’s safety;” “Self-Care and ‘Disappointing’ Politics in the Trump-Era Novel,” and “‘Gender Debate’ Discourse: Polarising, bigoted and validating’”—no debate there then. Casting such preoccupations further afield, other speakers will condemn “Female-fronted anti-feminism in Sweden, Germany and Russia” and the “Rise of Trans Exclusion in Self-identifying Radical Feminists in South Korea.”

Other targets include ‘tradwives,’ ‘momfluencers,’ and ‘victimcould,’ with no one there to make the counterargument. Digitally themed sessions typically imply an online threat from some types of men, while others seem to downplay physical threats to women’s safety from others, hinting at a ‘far-right’ agenda—unless the danger comes from the U.S.-European ‘manosphere.’

Not since academics gathered in Sheffield to discuss “How Do You Solve a Problem Like GB News”—answer: more regulation—has there been such confirmation bias on display at a supposedly scholarly gathering. To be honest, such get-togethers happen week in, week out at a campus near you—typically at your expense.

It has long been accepted that there is a line beneath which people have too little to thrive or survive. In a period defined by rapidly growing wealth inequities, there is increasing discussion about whether we should also be asking how much is too much. At what point does wealth accumulation become excessive, unjust, or harmful?

Excessive – in whose opinion? Unjust – in whose opinion? Harmful – in whose opinion? The envious levelers who permeate proglodyte space?

The concepts of a poverty line and an extreme wealth line (EWL) are not the same. One focuses on the minimum income, or the level of resources, required to access life’s essentials such as food, shelter, and clothing. The other considers whether there is a point beyond which the concentration of global wealth, such as income-generating land, properties, and financial assets, in the hands of relatively few people, is harmful – to individuals, to society, and to the environment. Drawing a line in either case has the potential to be highly contested, but also hugely impactful: it enables us as a society to discuss and reassess our tolerance for inequities and ultimately design better policies to tackle them.

While the Colorado Legislature passed a new transgender bill, sponsors compared parental rights groups to the Ku Klux Klan. Now, those groups are suing to block the legislation, mere days after Gov. Jared Polis signed it.

“The State of Colorado cannot stifle viewpoints it doesn’t like simply because it finds those views offensive or disagreeable,” Sarah Parshall Perry, vice president and legal fellow at the parental rights group Defending Education, told The Daily Signal in a statement Tuesday.

The parental rights groups Defending Education, the Colorado Parent Advocacy Network, and Protect Kids Colorado teamed up with the medical watchdog group Do No Harm and a medical doctor, Dr. Travis Morrell, to file the lawsuit Monday, challenging HB 25-1312, which Polis, a Democrat, signed Friday. The law amends the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act, which bars discrimination on the basis of “gender expression,” specifically stating that refusing to use a person’s “chosen name” will constitute discrimination.

Maine State Rep. Laurel Libby, a Republican, filed a federal lawsuit against Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau for censuring her after she sounded the alarm on a biological male student beating his female competitors at the Maine State Class B Championship in pole vault for girls.

Fecteau asked her to apologize for the post, and after she refused, censured her.

“This is a victory not just for my constituents, but for the Constitution itself,” Libby said on X. “The Supreme Court has affirmed what should NEVER have been in question — that no state legislature has the power to silence an elected official simply for speaking truthfully about issues that matter.”

An Arizona judge has ordered state prosecutors to send back to a grand jury a case in which Republicans were charged last year for their alleged roles in trying to overturn the 2020 election, potentially jeopardizing the high-profile indictments.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sam J. Myers sided with the Republicans and found that prosecutors failed to provide the grand jury with the text of an 1887 federal law that is central to the Republicans’ defense. The law, known as the Electoral Count Act, spells out how presidential electoral votes are to be cast and counted.

“We are extremely pleased with the court’s ruling, and we think the judge got it exactly right,” said Stephen Binhak, the attorney who spearheaded the effort to get the case back to a grand jury.

The decision is a major setback for Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D), who promised to appeal the ruling so she could keep the prosecution going.

Spend a few minutes browsing political commentary or scrolling social media and you will discover a seemingly settled truth: inequality in the West is soaring, the middle class is being hollowed out, and democracies stand on the brink of oligarchy. The idea is seductive because it fits everyday anxieties in many Western countries—housing has grown increasingly unaffordable, billionaire wealth mushrooms unfathomably, and the pandemic exposed yawning gaps in social safety nets. Yet the most influential claims about inequality rest on selective readings of history and partial measurements of living standards. When the full balance sheet of modern economies is tallied—including taxes, transfers, pension entitlements, homeownership, and the fact that people move through income brackets across their lives—the story looks markedly different. Western societies are not nearly as unequal as many believe them to be.

This is not a call for complacency. Concentrated economic power can distort markets and politics; pockets of deep poverty persist in rich countries; and in the United States, the top of the distribution has indeed sprinted ahead of the rest. But focusing only on the eye-catching fortunes of tech founders or hedge-fund managers obscures a quieter, broader transformation: households across the income spectrum now own capital on a scale unimaginable to earlier generations, and basic measures of well-being in Western societies—including life expectancy, educational attainment, and consumption possibilities—have improved for nearly everyone.

Getting the facts right matters because bad diagnosis breeds bad prescriptions. If governments assume that capitalism is inexorably recreating the disparities of the Gilded Age, they will reach for wealth confiscations, price controls, or ever-larger public sectors funded by fragile tax bases. If, instead, the evidence shows that free-market economies have enriched middle classes by expanding asset ownership, that entrepreneurs’ fortunes are associated with advances shared with the broader public, and that much of the post-1980 rise in recorded inequality reflects methodological quirks, then a different agenda follows: states should encourage ambition, protect competition, widen access to wealth-building, and ensure that public services complement—not smother—private prosperity. In short, before treating inequality as an existential crisis, it is worth double-checking the thermometer.

The car bombing outside a California fertility clinic that killed one person and injured four others appears to have been driven by anti-natalist ideology, according to two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the incident.

Anti-natalism refers to the belief that no one should have children. Investigators are focusing on social media posts made by the suspect, including a 30-minute audio recording, which they say support anti-natalist views. While the posts and the recording are still being verified, officials believe they reflect the ideology behind the bombing.
