The New York Times published a rather shocking article for Saturday’s newspaper. Online, the headline was an attention-grabber:
Black Workers’ Wages Are Finally Rising
Their pay is increasing after a decade of stagnation. One man’s story shows the hope — and limitations — with that shift.
Wait. So black workers’ wages stagnated….all through the Obama presidency. This is a rather stunning headline. This is NOT the headline that made the Saturday paper, published on page B-1. Instead, it was “He’s Gained A Foothold, But Worries About Falling.”

Sen. Mitt Romney was the sole Republican to vote to impeach Donald Trump, and the New York Times front page on Thursday demonstrated its strange new respect for the Utah Republican — the same candidate it spent 2012 vilifying for standing between Barack Obama and a second term — in Mark Leibovich’s “An Act of Defiance Against a Party He’d Personified.” A text box on the jump page cast Romney as making a brave stand: “Recognizing that breaking ranks may bring ‘unimaginable’ consequences.”

Steve Sailer keeps you up with the latest fashions.
It’s almost as if it’s fashionable to racistly insult whites for being white these days.
From ‘robber barons’ to ‘black market’ to ‘price gouging’, the first step in a hate campaign is to think up a catchy smear-name for the target. If academics pick it up and embed it in the culture, so much the better.

Scott Johnson at Power Line connects the dots.
The New York Times is nothing if not predictable. In the age of Trump, it has become even more so. Having pioneered the “strange new respect” profile genre — i.e., the laudatory profiles of Republicans or conservatives who “get above their raisin’” to join the sanctified line of the Democratic Party — the Times owed Romney, and the Times has now delivered.

The nonstop campaign by bought politicians, owned news outlets, and manipulated social media platforms to control the dominant narratives about what’s going on in the world contribute vastly more to the sickness of our society than government secrecy does. We know this from experience: any time a whistleblower exposes secret information about the malfeasance of powerful governments like NSA surveillance or Collateral Murder, we see not public accountability, nor demands for sweeping systemic changes to prevent such malfeasance from reoccurring, but a bunch of narrative management from the political/media class.

It’s come to this: Tom Steyer, one of the flailing Democratic presidential candidates who remains in the race only because he is rich and has plenty of money to spend on a vanity candidacy, tells an Iowa audience: “I know that people describe me as being a rich person, but that isn’t how I think of myself. My mom was from Minneapolis, Minnesota….”
And, as we all know, most poor people come from Minneapolis. Oh, wait….
I ‘identify’ as poor, too, but if I had Steyer’s money it wouldn’t prevent me from putting out a contract on Steyer. Doing well by doing good, as they say in Minneapolis. Or somewhere.

There was a mass shooting Sunday night in Kansas City in which one woman was killed and 15 other people were injured. Three of the injured victims were listed in critical condition Monday. Mass shootings have become part of propaganda campaign by Democrats and the media, who seek to blame President Trump for these crimes — a “climate of hate” supposedly inspired by the White House. However, not every mass shooting lends itself to this political narrative, and so CNN viewers will not be getting 24/7 coverage of the Kansas City shooting….
…
If more than a dozen people had been shot by an “alt-right” Trump supporter, CNN would be airing hourly updates, with politicians and pundits being asked to weigh in on the “climate of hate” that allegedly caused the mass shooting. However, when an angry dope dealer opens fire because people are cutting in front of him in the line to get into the club after the Chiefs won a trip to the Super Bowl? That’s just local news.

It’s difficult to discern just what these ‘protesters’ think they’re going to accomplish. These aren’t the poor people of the world; it takes significant cash to even get to Davos. Presumably indulging in such theatrics, yet another case of ‘Look at me! Look at me!’, gives them a warm and fuzzy feeling — but the whole ‘I guess we told them!’ attitude is very much disconnected from the obvious reaction of the people being protested, which is more on the order of ‘don’t get any of this stuff on your shoes’.

Since there was no violence what so ever at the gun rights rally in Richmond, Virginia on Monday, CBS Evening News apparently decided to make-up some fake news and claim there was.
