Another attempt in the ongoing proglodyte effort to convince people First World Bad Turd World Good.
Look at the ‘categories’ of stuff this web site deals with. They’re obviously ‘artists’ aimed at other ‘artists’, and (as Scott Adams never tires of pointing out), they’re idea of ‘science’ is ‘stuff that sounds good and agrees with our preconceived notions’. (As a general rule, if an ‘artist’ – someone whose job is working with words, art, music, or film – tells you something arguably scientific, don’t believe it. They work in a world of feelings, and feelings aren’t science.)
Note that I do not say that the information presented is false; I think the information is probably true. But it is presented in a tendentious way that attempts to canonize a viewpoint a being Objective Science. And this disease affects all such fora, even ones that use to be trustworthy, such as ‘Scientific’ American, Popular ‘Science’, and Wired ‘Science’, and it’s even infecting purportedly rigorous scientific journals like Nature

Investigators are struggling to build a federal murder case regarding fallen US Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, vexed by a lack of evidence that could prove someone caused his death as he defended the Capitol during last month’s insurrection.
Authorities have reviewed video and photographs that show Sicknick engaging with rioters amid the siege but have yet to identify a moment in which he suffered his fatal injuries, law enforcement officials familiar with the matter said.
Emphasis added. Notice the entire attitude: We have to find somebody to pin this murder on, and REALITY IS JUST NOT COOPERATING WITH THE NARRATIVE. They obviously think this is a bug, not a feature.
This is what passes for journalism these days. And nobody seems to care.

New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof recently penned a column titled “A Letter to My Conservative Friends,” with the subheading “Hold us accountable, but please do the same for the charlatans who deceive you, use you, and cheat you.”
Kristof doesn’t name any conservative friends, so we can’t be sure he has any. It’s fascinating to insist he holds the cheating, manipulative “charlatans” on the conservative side accountable; this sounds like a fine idea. But Kristof isn’t writing from a position of strength.
A Nexis database search reveals Kristof has never written anything critical in his two decades of columns about Rev. Al Sharpton, a perennial charlatan in Kristof’s newspaper’s hometown. The Times has routinely celebrated Sharpton over the years, despite his long record of deception, racial hatred, and inciting violence.
Kristof is a notorious self-righteous one-way proglodyte mouthpiece; I’m surprised he thought he could get away with this.

Suddenly, the concept of “Equity” is ubiquitous. Where did this idea come from and why has it emerged now as a central metric of the Progressives? It emerges concurrently with Big Tech stepping into the forefront as arbiters of what ideas are allowed to be expressed in the public square and their apparent bias toward Progressive ideology. I submit that the two things are related.

On Tuesday the Washington Post covered the brainy lady who points to the future of the Democratic Party showing how to go full victim: “Ocasio-Cortez reveals she’s a sexual assault survivor, recounts ‘trauma’ of Capitol riot: ‘I thought everything was over.’” Sam Dorman now follows up in the FOX News story “AOC faces backlash as critics point out she wasn’t in Capitol building during riots.”
The backlash derives from AOC’s claim that she suffered a “near-death” experience hiding in the bathroom of her office in the Cannon Building across the street from the Capitol during the riot. She further characterized the Capitol Police officer who sought to evacuate her from the office as threatening — as terrifying. We have yet to hear the other side of the story from the officer, but I’m guessing there is another side. The Post story leaves it as AOC posits it.

Chris “Fredo” Cuomo’s seething hatred for Republicans was boiling during the Tuesday edition of CNN’s PrimeTime. Between telling his viewers that they all “have to worry about the GOP” going forward because they could become the party of presidential assassins and suggesting they didn’t care about murdered Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, Cuomo was out to stoke division and animus (so the very thing he accused the GOP of doing)

Earlier today, I took note of how the “extremist” label is being used by the media to smear all opposition to the Biden administration, as a pretext for silencing all criticism of the Biden administration. And as I noted, this accusation of “extremism” is a Kafkatrap — a sort of circular argument, whereby denying guilt is taken as proof of guilt.
Liberals argue this way habitually, and never get called out for it. They will claim that a certain policy proposal is intended to help a certain category of (allegedly) oppressed people and, if you dare criticize or oppose their policy for any reason, you will be accused of Thoughtcrime, i.e., some sort of hate toward the oppressed victim group. Anyone who objects that such accusations are unfair — “I’ve known Tom for years, there’s not a prejudiced bone in his body” — will be accused of sympathizing with the haters. You are just like a “good German,” complicit in the Nazi murder six million Jews. No protest of innocence can save you, once you are so accused.
In cancel culture, allegation is as good as proof.

A study released by the NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights decided that the argument that conservatives are being censored by Big Tech is “not legitimate.”
“False Accusation: The Unfounded Claim that Social Media Companies Censor Conservatives,” levied the accusation that conservative censorship is a myth. Deputy Director Paul M. Barrett and Law + Research Fellow J. Grant Sims wrote that “the claim of anti-conservative animus is itself a form of disinformation: a falsehood with no reliable evidence to support it.” The study referred to the overall bans of former President Donald Trump on Facebook and Twitter as “reasonable responses to Trump’s repeated violation of platform rules.”
…
The study relied on NewsGuard’s classification of “manipulators.” It noted, “All of the top five manipulators, in terms of their engagement levels on Facebook, were right-leaning: Fox News, The Daily Wire, Breitbart, The Blaze, and Western Journal.”
Furthermore, Barrett and Sims relied on the leftist Oxford Internet Institute’s report on “junk news.” That report had classified several conservative websites as “junk news,” including Drudge Report, NewsBusters, CNSNews.com, MRCTV, Breitbart, The Daily Caller, The Washington Free Beacon, LifeNews, National Review, the Red State, and The Federalist. These sites were smeared as “unprofessional,” “counterfeit,” “biased” and “emotionally driven.”
The study, coming from the center currently run by former Obama administration Assistant Secretary Mike Posner, had several recommendations for the new President Joe Biden administration.
I’m sure they did. I’m sure they did.

The execrable Susan Rice has returned to public life to lead the White House Domestic Policy Council. It’s an anodyne title, but she has taken up residence in the Executive Office of the President to execute, to crack the whip, to impose discipline, to play the role of Krupskaya to Joe Biden’s glassy-eyed Weekend at Bernie’s routine.
Rice emerged on Tuesday to preview the strong dose of “equity” that Biden was to promote later that day. What does “equity” mean? Rice used the word over and over again without explanation (video below).
“Equity” is not equality (i.e., equal rights). It is a substitute for equal rights. “Equity” requires the authorities to determine who gets what according to the race, the ethnicity, or other status of the beneficiaries. It is updated Marxist claptrap in which race replace class.

The Lincoln Project is a Democratic-aligned super PAC founded by schlubby white dudes with inflated egos and an unhealthy internet addiction. Despite raking in millions of dollars from wealthy libs in 2020, the group’s efforts to unseat incumbent GOP senators were not successful.
Lincoln Project cofounders such as Steve Schmidt, the former Republican strategist whose most notable achievement was persuading John McCain to choose Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008, believe they are on the front lines of a noble crusade to defend American democracy.
Schmidt, a multimillionaire, regularly appears on MSNBC to attack Republicans from the comfort of his gaudy mansion. During one such appearance on the left-wing network, Schmidt went so far as to compare the Lincoln Project’s efforts to annoy Donald Trump and elect Democrat politicians to those of the actual heroes who risked their lives during the American Revolution, the Civil War, World War II, and the civil-rights movement.

In 1998, University of Wisconsin historian David Henige published Numbers from Nowhere: The American Indian Contact Population Debate, in which he examined how, during the late 20th century, academics began arguing that the indigenous population of the Western hemisphere before the arrival of Europeans was much larger than previously estimated. This origins of this argument can be located rather precisely, with the 1966 publication of an article by Henry F. Dobyns in the journal Current Anthropology. Dobyns cited evidence that the native population had been devastated by pandemic diseases — particularly smallpox but also influenza, diphtheria and other contagions — brought to the Americas by European explorers and colonists.
