Krugman’s new op-ed was headlined, “How Not to Panic About Inflation.” The article was published just a few days before Axios released a story headlined, “77% of Americans are worried about inflation.” Krugman’s tactic was to get Americans to remember the “great inflation scare of 2010-2011.” He argued that conservative worries about inflation failed to materialize after former President Barack Obama injected the economy with his own asinine stimulus. His only criticism of Obama’s stimulus was that it was “inadequate,” but he also falsely argued that there was “consensus among economists that [Obama’s] efforts were helpful.” Now, Krugman has said worries about inflation in Biden’s stimulus were resurfacing the same right-wing worries: “[H]ere we go again.”

Like most ‘media’, the New York Times loves to take ‘estimates’ as fact and then push for policies based on that assumption. (Much like the Climate Change Panic industry.)

“The result is that most wage earners pay their fair share while many business owners engage in blatant fraud at public expense,” the op-ed said.

And, of course, there’s no way they can know that — it’s just assumed, because The Narrative (keeping your own money is ‘fraud at public expense’).

Determined to not let any tragedy go to waste, each of the broadcast networks touted President Biden’s call for gun control on Tuesday following the mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado. But NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt went a step further, trying to browbeat viewers with a claim that America had experienced “more than 100” such shooting in “the last 20 years.” But back on November 8, 2018, the network claimed there were 307 mass shootings in the first 10 months of the year alone.

Corporations don’t pay taxes, they merely collect the amount of the tax from their customers in the form of increased prices. Basically, this is a double-tax on the customers of successful business companies in a Clever Plastic Disguise. It is attractive to politicians, since it apparently ‘soaks the rich’, and Low-Information Voters, who are too stupid to realize what is going on.

A New York Supreme Court Judge last week excoriated the New York Times, ruling that they used “reckless disregard” and “acted with actual malice” when two of their reporters deceptively presented opinions as fact in several articles denigrating whistleblower organization Project Veritas.

The message we’re getting here from the Gods of the Market Place is, that because the sinister, evil Donald Trump told us that Covid-19 was a Chinese virus, his followers—who are, of course, all gap-toothed white supremacist persecutors of nonwhites—have been attacking anyone who looks Asian: sucker-punching them, shoving them under subway train s, and so on.

The problem with that narrative is, as even the normally race-shy Tucker Carlson noted in his March 18th show (at 6m22s here), quoting figures from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, that blacks are far more likely than any other race to attack Asian Americans.

Washington, D.C., Circuit Senior Judge Laurence Silberman, who was appointed by former President Reagan, argued in his opinion that the news industry at large is dominated with a “bias against the Republican Party” that he wrote was “rather shocking.”

While the case did not specifically relate to either paper, the judge used his opinion to argue that the Times and Post served largely as mouthpieces for the Democratic Party, adding “the news section of The Wall Street Journal leans in the same direction.”

On Wednesday’s New Day show, CNN analyst John Avlon delivered a misleading “Reality Check” that promised to explain “what is really going on” at the border with Mexico, suggesting that “right-wing media” like Fox News are spreading misinformation.

In actual “reality,” regular Fox News viewers would be better informed about why the large number of illegal border crossings is happening than those of CNN. In fact, just recently, Fox News ran a report informing viewers that the overwhelming majority of asylum requests by illegal immigrants are frivolous and are rejected — the kind of critical information you’d never hear on CNN or other liberal media outlets.

A 20-year-old woman named Cara sent out a tweet showing a map of a high-speed rail plan that someone with no sense made eight years ago with the comment, “I want her so fucking much.” She got 185,000 likes and 50,000 retweets, so Vox concluded that Generation Z (also known as zoomers) is sold on high-speed rail.

We want therefore it is.

The Washington Post issued a mammoth correction this week on a story about Donald Trump’s search for election fraud. The paper had admitted that they misquoted the former president twice. WaPo’s botched story is a cautionary tale of what happens when political biases cloud reportage and a reminder of why public trust in the media is so low.

The original story, which was reported in January and written by Amy Gardner, broke the news that Trump had a December phone call with Georgia’s top election investigator about the 2020 presidential election results. The scoop was sourced to an ‘individual briefed on the call’, who claimed Trump urged the official to ‘find the fraud’ and promised she’d be a ‘national hero’ if she did so. Both of these quotes were fabrications, according to a recording of the call published by the Wall Street Journal.

‘Democracy dies in darkness’, is the Post‘s pompous slogan. Well, the media dies in lies.

My mind has recently been perplexing over the fact that a lot of my old muckers on the Left are stuck in a narrow ideological time-warp. Melanie Phillips outlined her journey and her escape from the Left and from woke Feminism in an interview recently where she describes it as a passage from a fantasy world to reality and the real world. Leftist utopian idealism has no truck any longer with the real world of science, biology, human nature – common sense as any sensible person would recognise it. Everywhere you look on the Left the thinking is full of social constructionist theories paraded as fact and the whole agenda is now riven with ludicrous contradictions.

In October, the Committee, after a sixteen-month investigation, produced one of those most comprehensive and informative reports by any government body anywhere in the world about the multi-pronged threats to democracy posed by four Silicon Valley monopolies: Facebook, Google, Amazon and Apple. The 450-page report also proposed sweeping solutions, including ways to break up these companies and/or constrain them from controlling our political discourse and political life. That report merits much greater attention and consideration than it has thus far received.

On Friday’s CBS This Morning, co-host Anthony Mason brought on chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett to swoon over Joe Biden’s COVID speech. Mason highlighted that Biden introduced the topic of violence against Asian Americans and Garrett honored Biden for inserting that topic himself, wildly asserting that there is an “epidemic.”

The media constructed this narrative due to their loathing of Trump’s use of the term “China virus” so they could claim that he is racist and blame him for attacks on Asian Americans. Beware any time a reporter calls anything an “epidemic” that isn’t an outbreak of disease. Do we really need bad “epidemic” metaphors during a pandemic?

After playing footage of some of the attacks, Carlson accused Biden and Democrats of making them “into political ammunition.”

“Is it really Republican racists doing this, as Joe Biden suggested last night and so many other Democrats have told us?” he asked before bringing on his guest, the author of “Chinese Girl In The Ghetto.”

While Ying Ma acknowledged that some whites doubtless harbor “hostility or resentment” against Asians because of the virus, she also said that “time and time again” the recent “attackers are not white.”

At a March 8 White House event to announce the nomination of two female generals to lead U.S. military combatant commands, President Joe Biden seemed to forget the name of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and where Austin works. Since the theme of the president’s mental acuity is still associated with memes of former President Donald Trump, the media desperately wanted to forget this happened.

Reality in Soviet news was 100% binary, with all people either heroes or villains, and the villains all in league with one another (an SR was no better than a fascist or a “Right-Trotskyite Bandit,” a kind of proto-horseshoe theory). Other ideas were not represented, except to be attacked and deconstructed. Also, since anything good was all good, politicians were not described as people at all but paragons of limitless virtue — 95% of most issues of Pravda or Izvestia were just names of party leaders surrounded by lists of applause-words, like “glittering,” “full-hearted,” “wise,” “mighty,” “courageous,” “in complete moral-political union with the people,” etc.

After years of alleging that former-President Trump and, by extension, the Republican Party where doing the bidding of tyrannical Vladimir Putin, Thursday’s edition of CNN Newsroom rolled out the red carpet for propaganda from Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, the leader the group currently fomenting civil war in Yemen commonly known as the Houthis, to express why he and his group, like their Iranian patrons, believe in “death to America.”

Senators and a witness at a Senate hearing Wednesday afternoon called out three left-leaning dark money groups for decrying the existence of conservative dark money groups.

The term “dark money” generally applies to a political organization that doesn’t disclose its donors.

Leaders of the liberal groups People for the American Way, the Center for Media and Democracy, and Take Back the Court told senators that corporate and dark money is corrupting the Supreme Court, but were vague about how.

None of the three liberal nonprofits discloses all donors, The Washington Free Beacon reported, a stance that makes them dark money organizations.

These critical questions are being settled right now in the clash over Times technology reporter and factually-challenged busybody Taylor Lorenz.

Lorenz spent the bulk of lockdown season stalking the nascent Silicon Valley chat app Clubhouse. In July, she vowed to quit the app forever for not caring enough about ‘user safety’, i.e. protecting Lorenz from all criticism. But of course, like most addicts who pledge to quit, Lorenz’s promise was a farce, and she was soon back on the app.

After the passage of the pork-laden atrocity known as the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill passed the Senate on a party-line vote on Saturday, ABC spent part of Sunday’s Good Morning America sneering at Republicans for not going along with the package President Biden refused to negotiate with them on. They also warned that Democratic Senator Joe Manchin (WV) would also be a problem since he came from a state that voted for former President Trump.

If you’re a White person who thinks racism only hurts people of color, the story behind an empty, abandoned swimming pool in Missouri might just change your mind.

Only if you have the IQ of a carrot.

These public pools, of course, were for Whites only. But when civil rights leaders successfully pushed for them to be integrated, many cities either sold the pools to private entities or, in the case of Fairground Park, eventually drained them and closed them down for good.

These closures didn’t just hurt Black people, though — they also denied the pleasures of the pool to White people.

Uh, no, it was the efforts of those who tried to force people whom they consitered heretics and sinners to associate with others (that they didn’t want to associate with) that ‘harmed white people’. So it was proglodyte ‘anti-racism’ that harmed white people, not racism — under ‘racism’, white people were just fine.

Ignoring how numerous states across the country had their elections laws unconstitutionally changed in 2020 and certain changes led to mass confusion, Monday’s CBS Evening News was on a mission to smear the Republican Party with lies about them being against the right to vote. With the false claim of “rolling back voter rights,” anchor Norah O’Donnell gaslighted her audience in the opening tease about a supposed “Republican push in more than 40 states to limit voting access.”

When she finally got around to the story 10 minutes later, O’Donnell painted the GOP as radicals targeting minorities.

Back in February 2020, the Establishment Press was mostly worrying about the pandemic in terms of how it could lead to racism against Asians by Trump supporters. An open letter signed by major Irish NGOs — including Amnesty International (AI) and the National Women’s Council (NWC) has called for the removal of media and political representation for women who won’t capitulate to the demands of extreme trans activists.

‘We call on media, and politicians to no longer provide legitimate representation for those that share bigoted beliefs, that are aligned with far right ideologies and seek nothing but harm and division,’ reads the letter. ‘These fringe internet accounts stand against affirmative medical care of transgender people, and they stand against the right to self-identification of transgender people in this country… they stand against trans, women’s and gay rights by aligning themselves with far-right tropes and stances.’

An axiom from the drug game that applies equally well to the political game is “Never get high from your own supply.” Drug dealers who start using their product usually end up dead, in jail or just another client for a smarter drug dealer. In the case of politics, the product they move is propaganda and rhetoric. In office, they peddle propaganda to convince or confuse the people into going along with policy. Out of office, politicians use rhetoric to trick people into supporting them in their efforts.

The product of politics is the lie. Maybe the lie is just an exaggeration, like the old line about two cars in every garage and chicken in every pot. Sometimes the lie is a fabrication to distract from something else. The Russian collusion hoax is an example of a lie to distract from the FBI corruption. Then, of course, you have the Big Lie, the lie so colossal that no one thinks it possible to tell such a lie. The usual suspects used this against Trump, declaring him a white nationalist.

• Saying that people should be judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin is racist.
• White people who perform African-American spirituals or sing the “Black National Anthem” are engaging in cultural appropriation, and are racists.
• When a black man who commits a crime is arrested by a white cop, that cop is a racist. The white prosecutor who prosecutes him is a racist. White members of the jury who vote to convict him are racists.
• The fact that the number of black nuclear physicists in America is lower than the proportion of blacks in the general population is proof that STEM teachers are racists, university administrators are racists, and companies in the nuclear tech industry are systemically racist.

Appearing at a friendly CNN town hall event this week, President Joe Biden dropped a string of untruths on issues both large and small.

One of the president’s most egregious falsehoods was the claim that “we didn’t have [the vaccine] when we came into office.” The first shot was administered back on Dec. 14, 2020.

Glenn Kessler, lead fact-checker for The Washington Post, quickly jumped into action on Twitter, explaining that this was merely a “verbal stumble, a typical Biden gaffe, as he had already mentioned 50 million doses being available when he took office. Former Trump officials should especially cool the outrage meter, as it just looks silly.”

Castigating those who pointed out the lie is a weird thing for someone charged with verifying factual information to do.

Trump  Derangement Syndrome can have such a powerful effect on people that it can cause them to inadvertently praise their targets while simultaneously slamming their TDS allies without them even being aware of it. This can produce quite a comical effect as was the case of the Friday article in Washingtonian magazine in which Jessica Sidman attempts to slam President Donald Trump and his friends but, due to the TDS boomerang effect, does just the opposite.

Blaming Trump – Is there anything it can’t do?

News in the Trump years became a narrative drama, with each day advancing a tale of worsening political emergency, driven by subplots involving familiar casts of characters, in the manner of episodic television. It worked, but news directors and editors hit a stumbling block. If you cover everything like there’s no tomorrow, what happens when there is, in fact, a tomorrow?

The innovation was to use banner headlines to saturate news cycles, often to the exclusion of nearly any other news, before moving to the next controversy so quickly that mistakes, errors, or rhetorical letdowns were memory-holed.

The American Napoleon generated controversies at such a fantastic rate that stations like CNN and MSNBC (and Fox too) were able to keep ratings high by moving from mania to mania, hyping stories on the way up but not always following them down. The moment the narrative premise of any bombshell started to fray, the next story in line was bumped to the front.

Scott Alexander responds to the NYT’s hit piece about him:

I believe they misrepresented me as retaliation for my publicly objecting to their policy of doxxing bloggers in a way that threatens their livelihood and safety.

Beyond that, the NYT’s bigger goal is to advance the current crackdown on independent thought. Scott Alexander and Mencius Moldbug have little in common, but neither is Woke, which is, increasingly, the only worldview that The Establishment will tolerate. So, they are both therefore crimethinkers and must be dealt with, along with anybody who likes one or the other, or who likes anybody who likes one of them. Guilt by Association is very much back in fashion in 2021.

That said, I’d also imagine that NYT reporter Cade Metz is a fan of Scott’s, so he probably wrote his hit piece in part to shore up his career at the NYT. As an intelligent white man, Metz is in danger of being canceled like Donald McNeil, a 45-year veteran of the NYT newsroom who was in recent years their expert on epidemics. McNeil’s career was canceled recently for his lack of worship of woke dogmas. So Metz throwing Scott off the back of the sleigh to distract the pursuing racist wolves (such as Nikole Hannah-Jones and John Eligon) from gaining on him would be a rational career move.

As the impeachment week unfolded, Maryland Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin, the impeachment manager, has made a point of showing videos illustrating in graphic detail the attack on the Capitol.

And no one has been more emphatic in support of Trump’s impeachment for the events of January 6th than Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York. Schumer, of course, sat front and center in the Senate chamber and watched the video clips Raskin showcased.

But there’s something curious going on with the media coverage of Raskin and Schumer. Let’s dip into a few recent headlines.

After stating last week it would “not tolerate racist language regardless of intent,” the New York Times reversed course Thursday and said “intent matters” in speech and writing.

“In our zeal to make a powerful statement about our workplace culture, we hamhandedly said something that some of you saw as threatening to our journalism,” executive editor Dean Baquet said in a meeting. “Of course intent matters when we are talking about language in journalism.” NBC News’s Dylan Byers originally reported the remarks.

The mandarins of Qing China claimed the Mandate of Heaven. The French noblesse d’épée tied their privileges to a thousand years of military service to the kings of France. The nobles of Spain touted their cleanliness of blood, untainted by Jewish or Moorish ancestry.

In America, no such backwards justifications are needed. Our elites claim their supremacy on intellectual merit, the power of their brains and the breadth of their knowledge. And to everyone’s misfortune, they really believe it.

But how do you prove intellectual superiority past the age of 22, when it can no longer be measured with letter grades and test scores? Warren Buffett and Bill Gates can at least point to their enormous piles of wealth as evidence of intellectual horsepower. But what can journalists do? In the past, they might write brilliant critiques of those in power. But NBC’s Andrea Mitchell has no criticisms to offer for America’s rulers, so instead her best option is making ‘ackshually’ posts on Twitter.

We are rarely given a glimpse inside the struggle sessions at the New York Times. Last week New York Times science reporter Donald McNeil exited the newspaper as a result of an incident that occurred outside the Times two years ago. The Times made up a rule after the fact to justify McNeil’s exit. The “resignation” of star New York Times science writer Donald McNeil Jr. has sparked a furious back-and-forth among Times staffers, many of whom are outraged over the Gray Lady’s handling of his departure.

The Washington Free Beacon reviewed a series of postings to a Facebook group for current and former Times staffers, where a tense debate is unfolding over McNeil’s exit. One camp argues that his dismissal was justified and another asserts it set a troubling precedent, which the New York Times union should have done more to prevent.
