In the aftermath of DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin announcing her resignation, MS NOW reporter Jacob Soboroff accused her of spreading misinformation when, in fact, he was the one misinforming his viewers.

Antonia Hylton filled in for Chris Hayes on Monday’s All In show. She began by asking Soboroff what it has been like having to interact with McLaughlin to get information about immigration issues. He began by taking a shot at ex-DHS secretary Kirstjen Nielsen from the first Donald Trump administration: “It’s been a bit of deja vu quite frankly, and I think that Tricia McLaughlin comes from a long line, I think it’s fair to say, of Trump administration officials dealing with immigration policy that have been less than forthright with the truth.”

It has been previously documented by NewsBusters that in June 2018 Nielsen forthrightly announced that those who crossed the border illegally would be detained and separated from their children, but Soboroff prefers to harp on one of her answers to a question to portray her as dishonest.

The MS NOW reporter then repeated more previously debunked information when he claimed that illegal alien Narciso Barranco did not swing his weed whacker at Border Patrol agents in Los Angeles even though there is video of him doing just that.

More than two weeks after NewsBusters broke the story and two days after initially trying to explain away why ABC News moderator Whoopi Goldberg requested to borrow Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet, The View offered up some new excuses for why their co-hosts were in the files. On Thursday’s show, Goldberg’s story completely changed and co-host Joy Behar claimed she only learned that she was at a party with Ghislaine Maxwell from our reporting.

The View kicked off the show by talking about the Epstein files, particularly the arrest of Prince Andrew for allegedly sharing confidential files with Epstein. But it was Behar who wanted to get back to clearing their names.

In NewsBusters’ original reporting about The View co-hosts being in the files, we noted that Behar was included on a guest list for a “William Astor’s dinner” that was also attended by Epstein’s partner in crime, Ghislaine Maxwell.

Stephen Colbert is getting the Jimmy Kimmel Free Speech Hero award this week on the leftist cable networks for his stunt putting an interview with Texas state Rep. James Talarico on YouTube instead of CBS. He claimed CBS banned him from putting Talarico on air. Then CBS put out a statement implying Colbert was lying, that they only offered “guidance” about how to fulfill equal-time requirements that might be enforced.

On Tuesday’s The Lead with Jake Tapper, former New York Times reporter Bill Carter and former National Review writer Jonah Goldberg both lined up like good liberals for the Colbert Publicity Train. Tapper tried to glide past Colbert’s claims on “how aggressively they gave that guidance,” but Carter lectured it just had to be Fear of Trump driving everything.

With the passing of The Rev. Jesse Jackson comes the media coverage that would be expected for a man of his stature, complete with documentation of his history, analysis of achievements, and tributes from those who knew him. On Tuesday CNN’s Inside Politics provided all of the above, but they failed to mention a major controversy from 1984 when Jackson was running for President, and they managed to attack President Trump for good measure.

During his 1984 campaign Jackson, speaking to a reporter, referred to New York as “Hymietown,” and to Jews as “hymies.” He first denied making the derogatory remarks, but later fessed up at a New York synagogue. At the time this was quite a significant story, but it wasn’t mentioned in host Dana Bash’s review of Jackson’s life and legacy, Nor was it mentioned by Atlanta Journal Constitution writer Tia Mitchell, who alluded to Jackson’s runs for President, and how he was hailed by her family.

I doubt that they mentioned his multi-decade race-hustle shakedown operation against American businesses.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr said at a press event Wednesday that he got a big laugh when he looked back at the way CBS “Late Show” Host Stephen Colbert used a hoax to manipulate the media this week.

Rebuking the legacy media’s blind regurgitation of Colbert’s claim that CBS prohibited him from airing an interview with Democrat Texas Senate primary candidate James Talarico because the FCC banned the interview, Chairman Carr pointed out that even CBS says that neither the network nor the FCC prevented Colbert from airing the interview.

Call it irony or call it hypocrisy, CNN’s The Situation Room was awash with it during their Wednesday newscast when the pro-choice outlet’s Pamela Brown clutched her pearls over Christian women choosing to put being a mother and a wife above their careers. Brown parachuted into a “patriarchal Christian communit[y]” she fishing for stories about domestic abuse. She looked on in confusion, horror, and disgust as a woman explained why she wanted to be a stay at home mom and be “submissive” to her husband.

In a continuation of her smear campaign against Christians from the previous day where she framed them as radicals and a threat to the country, Brown said she “embedded with a tight knit conservative church community in southeast Texas” to gawk at how they lived.

She opened the segment by warning that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was follower of a pastor who taught his followers to adhere to “specific gender roles, where wives submit to their husbands and make being a mother and homemaker their primary role, while the husband acts as the head of the household and makes the executive decisions for the family.”

Before the Department of Homeland Security shutdown at midnight on Saturday as a result of Democrats demanding certain ICE reforms, ABC’s World News Tonight host David Muir and chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce declined to inform their viewers that ICE will be largely immune from the shutdown.

A textbook example is from CBS. In particular, the headline is misleading. There’s no question in my mind that this is purposely so, and perhaps the most important part of the game. The headline is often either the only thing people read, or the headline and the first paragraph or two, and articles are shaped by people who are well aware of that. Even if a person does read the whole thing, the headline tends to shape that person’s perceptions.

The headline of this particular article is, “Less than 14% of those arrested by ICE in Trump’s 1st year back in office had violent criminal records, document shows.” Wow, the reader is meant to think, I guess the right is lying when it says the focus right now is on criminals. How many people read articles with such a jaundiced eye that they’re aware of the trap there, the words “violent criminal records” and especially the definition of the word “violent”? Most of those who do read the headline with skepticism are probably not going to be Democrat voters and/or Trump haters, because of the phenomenon of confirmation bias.

I read all articles with skepticism, but that’s only because I have to write about them and need to try my best to get it right, and have learned over and over and over again how much of what we read is propaganda. It happens on both left and right, but more often on the left, and of course most of the MSM is on the left.

That’s why I immediately realized the key word there was “violent.”

I would rather focus on the key words ‘criminal record’. The constant drumming on ‘criminal record’ puts a false notion in people’s mind (especially the minds of those on the left side of the IQ bell curve) that somehow illegal aliens can’t be deported unless they have some kind of ‘criminal record’ (i.e. have been charged with, and convicted of, an actual crime). This ignores, of course, (and that is deliberate) that being in the country illegally is ipso facto a crime; these people are in actual fact criminals, whether they have a ‘criminal record’ or not.

But she certainly has a point.

It is a journalist’s duty to report the truth, yet so many news outlets covered themselves in shame by bowing and scraping to honor the “transgender identity” of the man who carried out one of the deadliest mass shootings in Canadian history.

Jesse Van Rootselaar, 18, was born a man and he died a man. He spent his last day on Earth killing his 39-year-old mother, his 11-year-old stepbrother, a 39-year-old teacher, three 12-year-old girls, and two boys, 12 and 13, before taking the coward’s way out and turning the gun on himself. He reportedly wounded about 25 others at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and critically injured two more.

Initial reports on the shooting described Van Rootselaar as appearing female, but the Royal Canadian Mounted Police erased all doubt Wednesday at a press conference.

“I can say that Jesse was born as a biological male who approximately six years ago began to transition to female and identified as female, both socially and publicly,” Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald said.

The unrest in Minneapolis has died down, and the Trump administration is pulling 700 immigration enforcement officers out of the area. But all of the national media scrutiny has obsessed over Team Trump. It has rarely acted to “hold government accountable” when the governing comes from Democrats, like Gov. Tim Walz or Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

NPR was eagerly touting its new NPR/PBS Marist Poll to underline the effectiveness of their advocacy: 65% of Americans, up from 54% in June of 2025, think the actions of [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] have “gone too far” in enforcing immigration laws, and 62% say the actions of ICE are making Americans “somewhat less safe, or much less safe.”

The New Republic underlined what NPR and PBS were cooking: “Brutal New Poll Wrecks Trump’s Main Claim on ICE.”

Now ask yourself this question: Did PBS and NPR ever ask the public for their evaluation of ICE under President Joe Biden, when there was a mass importation of illegal aliens? Pollsters may have asked about their approval of Biden on the immigration issue. But this polling is specific and suggestive, intended to punish ICE deportation efforts.

The debate over immigration rages on in this country, with a disproportionate media focus on the enforcement side. But there continue to be horrific crimes committed by illegal aliens that garner no coverage from the network evening news.

The networks routinely report on lethal traffic accidents. In fact, all three today reported on the woman that plowed into a Los Angeles supermarket. Three people died as a result of that accident. But this one’s different. Or, perhaps- (D)ifferent. In any case, not a peep on the network nightly news.

In 2023, we published Grave Error, a book of essays that candidly discusses the “unmarked-graves” social panic that swept Canada four and a half years ago. In May 2021, it was announced that ground-penetrating radar (GPR) had identified the formerly unknown resting places of 215 Indigenous children who’d attended the Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia. The announcement sent shock waves through Canadian society, and led to months of self-lacerating commentary about our country’s colonial sins. Journalists and politicians alike acted as though these 215 victims—children who’d presumably been dispatched by murderous Residential School staff—had been identified and unearthed. It was only once this initial period of national hysteria ended that observers noted that, outside of the GPR reports, there existed no proof of graves, bodies, or human remains. And since GPR technology cannot detect bodies, but only soil dislocations that may equally indicate tree roots, drainage ditches, rocks, or other artefacts that have nothing to do with graves, the claim that these GPR-identified soil anomalies corresponded to graves remained unproven.

To this day, not a single grave has been discovered at any of the GPR-identified locations in Kamloops; nor at any of the other Residential-School sites where similar GPR surveys were conducted. Seen in retrospect, this whole strange episode in Canadian history now seems like a morbid farce.

All of this has been a particular embarrassment for Canadian journalists, who took a leading role in convincing readers and viewers that those 215 “unmarked graves” were real. This explains why many journalists have simply stopped talking about the issue, perhaps in the hope that the whole mortifying episode (and their role in it) will simply be forgotten.

Journalists used to say ‘Let’s wait and see.’ Nowadays they say ‘Let’s panic and jump to conclusions.’ I don’t see that as an improvement.

Indicted ex-CNN anchor Don Lemon’s actions belie his claim he was acting as a Constitutionally-protected “journalist” when he disrupted a church service last month – but, even if he was, he still doesn’t have the right to violate the religious freedom rights of others – legal experts say.

On January 29, federal authorities arrested Lemon for his role in the January 18 storming of a St. Paul, Minnesota-area church by an organized mob of far-left rioters under the guise of protesting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) efforts to detail illegal aliens. He has been charged with violating laws protecting the right to freedom of religious worship.

Despite his claim to be a journalist covering, instead of a participant in, the church invasion, actions speak louder than words, legal analysts note.

“Don Lemon was part of an organized mob that stormed into a church service and prevented the parishioners from practicing their faith,” Constitutional lawyer, commentator and Author Mark Levin wrote in a X.com post explaining that Lemon was acting as a participant, not a journalist, in the church invasion.

“He can claim he was merely reporting, but he was not. Even if he was, he still intentionally joined in the disruption of the church service,” Levin notes. “And he obviously knew beforehand what was going to take place.”

An interesting story from the United Kingdom is filling left-wing journalists with horror: Amelia. She’s an Artificial Intelligence creation that has escaped its left-wing government master and been rebadged as a heroine to the anti-mass migrant movement online.

The U.K. is suffering societal backlash and financial pressure due to mass immigration from cultures with little respect for women, yet the Labour Party government is obsessed with patrolling social media to inhibit “far-right” discussion of the migrant problem.

U.K. conservatives have turned the tables, taking an animated character, “Amelia,” the purported purple-haired antagonist of a government-issued left-wing game aimed at U.K. teens, and coding her favorably, not as a font of hate and disinformation, but as a pro-British patriotic meme.

The intent of the “game” — to warn British teenagers that taking anti-migrant stands may lead to police intervention — has backfired, with UK residents opposed to mass immigration adopting Amelia as their own mascot.

Free Beacon writer and 2023 MRC Bulldog Award winner Andrew Kerr unleashed a massive investigation on Monday morning, telling readers that a 2021 hate crime trumpeted by a who’s who of the liberal media — where a black teen in Plano, Texas named SeMarion Humphrey was pelted with BB gun bullets and forced to drink urine at a sleepover by white kids — was fake.

Not only did Kerr report the story was deemed fake, a Texas jury found it so in a court of law on January 22 and ordered the boy’s mother Summer Smith and attorney Kim Cole “to pay $3.2 million in damages to” the boy Humphrey claimed to have been the ringleader.

MRC President David Bozell highlighted the issue in an interview with Laura Trump, host of the Right View Podcast, on Thursday, describing how it feels like Americans are “watching two different movies,” resulting in completely opposing realities.

The dichotomy between the left’s perception of America and the right’s perception of America is wider than ever. So what’s causing this divide? It’s no shock—from the Media Research Center’s perspective—that the elitist media plays an outsized role in shaping how Americans view the world.

When a grand jury on January 29 indicted former CNN host Don Lemon for allegedly participating in the disruption of a Minneapolis-area church service, the corporate media responded with unanimous outrage. But for all of their handwringing, not a single journalist has acknowledged even once on any of the big three broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) that Lemon’s arrest was, in fact, the result of a grand jury indictment.

MRC analysts examined all coverage of Lemon’s arrest on the big three broadcast networks’ flagship morning (Good Morning America, CBS Mornings, and Today) and evening shows (ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News), from the morning of January 30 through the morning of February 3, 2026. Across the seven different reports about the incident, totaling just over 14 minutes, not once was it mentioned that Lemon’s arrest was not a reckless act by an out of control Justice Department, but rather the result of a grand jury indictment.

All three networks covered the event once on their evening newscasts on January 30, and a second time the following morning — for a total of 163 (ABC), 351 (CBS), and 334 seconds of coverage, respectively. CBS Mornings also ran a report just hours after the arrest on January 30.

One way “public” broadcasters demonstrate their dramatic leftist bias is by which books and authors they promote. On January 27, they featured an interview by co-anchor Geoff Bennett of Howard Bryant — former ESPN The Magazine columnist, and perpetual racial grievance machine — lionizing the famous black Stalinist puppet and actor Paul Robeson.

Bennett talked to Bryant about his new book, Kings and Pawns: Jackie Robinson and Paul Robeson in America. That’s a heroic athlete and a villainous communist. But not in the minds of the PBS elite.

The Iranian revolt of 2026 has exposed a profound flaw in Western progressive thinking. While people in Tehran and Mashhad and dozens of other Iranian cities risk their lives in the name of secular nationalism and constitutional law, progressive activists in the West seem to have nothing to say. If a movement isn’t checking the usual boxes of Western identity politics, they tend to view it as confusing, suspicious, or even reactionary.

Consequently, the Iranian people are showing us, mostly by accident, just how narrow the Western moral imagination has become. Many observers have attempted to interpret the uprising through familiar human-rights and liberationist frameworks, recasting it as another episode of identity-based politics. Others, finding no comfortable place for themselves within it, have chosen silence instead. The result has been a striking absence of sustained global attention.

This is the most pernicious effect of the Narrative Media. Sure, there are other sources of ‘news’, but the Narrative Media, by what they cover, tend heavily to influence what people think they know and especially what they think and talk about.
