Some observers consider the New York Times’ belated admission that Hunter Biden’s laptop was genuine to be a big deal. I don’t. For one thing, the Times hasn’t acknowledged, and won’t report on, the specific information on the laptop that told the story of Joe Biden’s corruption.
Moreover, there was never any doubt about the genuineness of the laptop and the data it contained. The owner of the repair shop had a receipt with Hunter Biden’s signature on it, the laptop contained a large number of self-validating videos and photos of Hunter in various compromising situations, and the authenticity of emails on the laptop was confirmed by the presence of the same emails in other accounts. The idea that the laptop was “Russian disinformation” was a desperate and absurd invention intended to fool those who paid no attention, and those who wanted to be fooled.

NewYork Post.
They are the supposed nonpartisan group of top spies looking out for the best interest of the nation.
But the 51 former “intelligence” officials who cast doubt on The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop stories in a public letter really were just desperate to get Joe Biden elected president. And more than a year later, even after their Deep State sabotage has been shown again and again to be a lie, they refuse to own up to how they undermined an election.
The officials, including CNN pundit and professional fabricator James Clapper — a man who was nearly charged for perjury for lying to Congress — signed a letter saying that the laptop “has the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
What proof did they have? By their own admission, none. “We do not know if the emails .?.?. are genuine or not,” the letter said. They’re just “suspicious.” Why? Because they hurt Biden’s campaign, that’s evidence enough.

Project Veritas has captured New York Times reporter Matthew Rosenberg delivering news that has somehow been deemed unfit to print in the paper (video below). PV’s post on the video comes under the heading “Pulitzer Prize Winning New York Times Reporter: January 6 Media Coverage ‘Overreaction,’ FBI Involved, Event Was Not Organized Despite Ongoing Narrative.”. PV’s post leads with a set of bullet points highlighting quotable quotes.
PV invites readers to contrast Rosenberg’s comments in the video with his own Times story (with Jim Rutenberg and Michael Grynbaum) “The Next Big Lies: Jan. 6 Was No Big Deal, or a Left-Wing Plot.” Subhead: “How revisionist histories of Jan. 6 picked up where the “stop the steal” campaign left off, warping beliefs about what transpired at the Capitol.” The contrast strikes me as newsworthy.

Freeberg nails it.
I have seen lots of lists of “logical fallacies,” both formal and informal. But I have not seen an entry for what I would call, for lack of a better name, a fallacy of “the alternative is too frightening to contemplate.” There should be one. Someone should write one if no one has written one already.
The China Bioweapon must not be a bioweapon…must not have been a lab leak…must have escaped from a “wet market” or a Canadian postage stamp. Lots of people think that even though there’s no hard evidence to substantiate it. Because the alternative is too frightening to contemplate.
All these people bossing us around telling us to wear masks and take vaccines and stay home etc….they must have our best interests and our collective health at heart. They must. Not because we have reason to think they do, but because the alternative is too frightening to contemplate.

Two anti-capitalist diatribes in the guise of news articles made the same edition of the New York Times.
Steve Lohr, who covers business and economics, praised a new left-wing consortium of foundations and academics out to replace the free-market system that has brought so much prosperity to so many in America: “Wary of Economic Neoliberalism, Groups Fund Research on Alternatives.” The online headline of Thursday’s story was spicier: “What Can Replace Free Markets? Groups Pledge $41 Million to Find Out.”

Taylor Lorenz is leaving the New York Times. The adult reporter best known for attending an internet celeb’s 16th birthday party for “work” announced Tuesday she was joining the Washington Post as a columnist covering “technology, online life, influencers, memes, business, culture, & more!”
Lorenz, who is probably 37 years old (her true age remains a source of controversy), rose to prominence in 2018 by posting about the $22 avocado toast she ordered online. Since then, she has been the subject of more media profiles than any journalist in American history. Her latest career announcement, for example, was accompanied by an interview with Vanity Fair in which Lorenz threw shade at the Times for not taking her work “seriously” and struggling to “deal with talent” such as herself.
“I think that people do not understand my beat. They don’t take it seriously,” Lorenz told the magazine. “I think the Times is an incredible institution but mainstream media organizations have kind of struggled to figure out how they deal with talent.” The celebrity journalist went on to suggest the Times was not comfortable with the way she uses “the internet as a modern internet person.” (Whatever that means.)
