In “Remember the Population Bomb? It’s Still Ticking,” an op-ed in the Sunday New York Times, Linden repeats a 40-year-old refrain: “Lesotho’s biggest problem probably was, and is, the obvious: too many people.”

Oh noes! The sky is falling! Women and minorities hardest hit! The planet will be destroyed!

How does Linden know that Lesotho is inhabited by “too many people”? The country’s population density is 176 people per square mile. But compare that to Malthusian hellholes like the United Kingdom (694 people per square mile); Germany (601 people); or the deities forfend, the Netherlands (2,852 people). In fact, the population density of the entire European Union is more than 300 people per square mile.

So I guess what he means is that Lesotho has too many black African people. But of course he can’t say that.

In the wake of the shooting of Congressman Steve Scalise on Wednesday, many liberal journalists and celebrities on Twitter and other social media sites began exploiting the tragedy, lobbying for gun control or bashing Republicans. But, New York Daily News commentator Shaun King chose specifically to blame white people for the incident. Embarking on a Twitter tirade he tweeted out the following,“Instead of white people, in general, taking the heat for James Hodgkinson, he is almost instantly being called a liberal radical.”

Maybe because he was. Bernie Sanders supporter, hates Trump, shoots Republicans — yeah, that says ‘liberal radical’ to me.

King gained worldwide notoriety back in 2015 when, as a Black Lives Matter activist, he was revealed to be white despite having previously identified himself as black.

There isn’t a shred of proof that Loughner ever even saw that map, let alone that it drove him to shoot those people. Fortunately for the left, no shred of proof is necessary. Once the narrative of the Magic Palin Map was set, within hours after the shooting, that was it. That’s their story and they’re sticking to it.

I don’t believe that the New York Times editorial board believes this. They know it’s not true. They’re lying, because they think the lie is necessary. In order to maintain the fiction that they’re the good guys, they need to twist this around and blame the people who are being physically attacked for their beliefs. As Ben Shapiro puts it: “The facts don’t match the narrative, so the facts must die a gruesome, slow death.”

In the span of a few weeks, two crazed Bernie Sanders supporters have committed acts of violence against innocent Americans.

In May, Jeremy Christian stabbed and killed two men after berating two Muslim women on a Portland, Oregon, train.

On Wednesday, James Hodgkinson opened fire on a congressional Republican baseball practice and wounded House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and others.

The big difference between the two events is that only one was seized upon as a disturbing example of the rising political violence in the nation. That was the incident the media was able to pin on the Right.

Author George Saunders last year dove headfirst into Republican heartland for a piece in the New Yorker entitled ‘Who are all these Trump supporters?’

Note that the approach is the same as he would use visiting some backwater in South America, Africa, or Asia.

To the Coastal Crust, ‘Trump supporters’ are some sort of alien species, with which no Normal Person would ever come in contact unless a special effort were made.

“I felt personally comfortable  doing it,” he told host Isaac Chotiner, “I felt like I could hang in for a long time with [Trump supporters] trying to understand it from their point of view, trying to put myself in their shoes without losing clarity.

The natives are very nice if you make an attempt to speak their language.

Of course, he could find a Trump supporter merely by talking to his apartment building’s doorman or the cabbie that drives him to work every day. But that would be a bit too close to home. Much better to pretend that they live in Flyover Country, and that one can come home at the end of the day and shake the dust of their towns off of one’s feet.

The “incident” is the mass shooting by a Muslim fanatic at an Orlando homosexual club that resulted in hundreds wounded and 49 dead. Reading the Progressive media, you would not know that. The Washington Post wrote that “49 people died” as if they just fell over from some strange illness. The Orlando Sentinel has the decency to tell us how they died, but then insults everyone’s intelligence by claiming the motive is a mystery. The motive is clear to everyone, including the lunatics working at the Sentinel.

It’s a good reminder that the Progs relentlessly rewrite the past, even the very recent past, in order to fit the current narrative. Right now, they hilariously hold onto the idea of building an anti-white coalition that somehow includes homicidal Muslims and homosexuals, who Muslims hate almost as much as they hate Jews. To that end, they have set about writing out the Muslim antagonists from the stories about Muslim terrorism. Here we are a year after the event and they are blaming guns. In another year, the killer will be a white guy.

In remarks so bizarre and out of touch that satirists at outlets like The Onion would have rejected them if someone had suggested their inclusion in a made-up story, London’s police chief has described the diversity of the city’s London Bridge terror attack victims and witnesses interviewed as positive things.

Gregory Katz at the Associated Press did his part to play along with the charade by failing to identify the lack of diversity among those who carried out the attack.

“Diversity” has apparently become so obsessively important that the need to comment on it in a positive fashion at every turn has clearly overwhelmed basic common sense.

One of the most common phrases to be heard from “the left” is the assertion that someone or some public policy is or is not on “the right side of history.” It has almost become a mantra by those who disagree with, hate, or are fearful of ideas and policies proposed by those generally characterized as being politically on “the right.”

The notion behind it is that “history” moves in a particular direction, toward some set of specific goals and societal forms, with each step in the historical process representing a “higher” and “better” stage or level than the preceding ones at which “society” has been operating.

This echoes what I’ve many times written here about ‘progressive’ ideology, that it assumes as an article of religion that progress is inevitable if only you change things around enough, a notion that was stolen from Marx and had the serial numbers filed off (not too competently).

Mark Antro observed CNN staging a protest by Muslims against ISIS and terrorism, and filmed it. As you watch the video, you can see that this is not a bona fide demonstration that CNN observed and reported on. Rather, the entire event–one could say, the pitifully small event–is being stage-directed by CNN for its cameras, to advance CNN’s narrative. In this case, the story CNN wants to promote is that most Muslims reject extremism. That might be true, but if so, it would be nice to see more than 15 or 20 people participating in a faked event.

Beef Products Inc. is going to court Monday, suing ABC News for report that claimed the company put waste meat products referred to as “pink slime” in processed beef.

“Pink slime” is one of those smear-terms like ‘price gouging’ and ‘black market’ invented by ‘activists’ to look down their nose at stuff of which they disapprove — typically stuff not in accord with The Narrative.

Beef Products says ABC caused $1.9 billion in damages with a 2012 report claiming that a filler product found in most ground beef is actually waste beef trimmings known as lean finely textured beef or LFTB, “once used only in dog food and cooking oil.”

Hold the media accountable for fake news? You should live so long.

The lawsuit claims ABC’s report unnecessarily targeted the food company for safe and legal food. Beef Products makes LFTB from the trimmings of other beef cuts. The bits of meat are heated slightly to separate the fat from the muscle tissue, then sprayed with ammonium hydroxide, which the Food and Drug Administration says is “generally recognized as safe,” to kill bacteria like E. coli. The product is frozen into pink bricks and shipped to other food companies and stores as a filler to combine with higher-quality ground beef.

So it’s basically just lean ground beef, with ammonium hydroxide to make sure people don’t get salmonella.

“This was the opposite of fake news,” ABC lawyer Kevin Baine said. “It was real news of interest to consumers who didn’t know this product was in their ground beef.”

Since it’s also ground beef, any concern on the part of ‘consumers’ would be just scare-mongering on the part of headline-hungry — wait for it — ‘fake news’ journalists.

While ABC’s reporting did not say the product was unsafe to eat, Beef Products claims that the news organization hyped the claim in order to make LFTB sound disgusting.

“There is not a more offensive way of describing a food product than to call it ‘slime,’” a lawyer for Beef Products told the Wall Street Journal.  The company claims ABC used the phrase “pink slime” 137 times in TV broadcasts, online reports and on social media.

Of course they did. They were looking for a ’cause’ in order to ‘make a difference’, like most such cultMarxist bullshit.

This over-the-top reaction is indicative of how the Democrats and their media allies have become heavily invested in “climate change” as a crisis requiring government action. Having lived long enough to remember many previous examples of this liberal crisis-mongering behavior — e.g., Paul Ehrlich and The Population Bomb — I have good reason to be skeptical of alarmist “climate change” rhetoric. One reason young people are so easily convinced to vote Democrat is that young people haven’t had enough experience to acquire this kind of skepticism. Only after you have spent decades watching liberals gin up fears of a “crisis” (which they then exploit as an excuse to elect Democrats) do you recognize the familiar pattern Thomas Sowell describes in his book The Vision of the Anointed.

So has anything changed since then? Nope. The first development mentioned in the recent story by Times reporter Joe Gose is Assembly Row, in the Boston suburb of Somerville. Is it subsidized? Yes, with at least $25 million in TIF along with other state funds.

Last week, President Trump proposed massive spending increases for Medicaid.

Of course, most of the media didn’t report it that way. They reported that the president’s proposal “slashes spending.” That he wants to cut “at least $610 billion” from Medicaid. That “Trump’s Budget Cuts Deeply Into Medicaid.” And so on.

That might be vaguely true in the Washington sense. It’s not at all true in the real-world sense.

An international journal was forced to apologize Thursday after it featured no black writers in its volume on the Black Lives Matter movement.

When it comes to “news” which might discredit Donald Trump or a member of his family, the modus operandi for too many in the press is, “Tweet and report first, ask questions later (if at all).”

On Sunday, several media members couldn’t resist falsely tweeting that Ivanka Trump will somehow control $100 million pledged by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to a World Bank fund for women entrepreneurs, thus dishonestly opening the door to utterly false parallels to the Clinton family-controlled Clinton Foundation.

For 20 years these news organizations, along with CBS, NBC and ABC, were the only game in town. They served as gatekeepers of information, and as their newsrooms became more and more detached from the center of the country, consumers began to become detached from them.

And then along came the Internet. Not only were different sources now available, but news aggregators such as Drudge made it easy to find things giving everyone access to “alternative facts.”

The universe of information expanded, and it became clear that what Peter Jennings, Dan Rather or the New York Times told consumers was not the whole story, and if you were a conservative (and a plurality of Americans self-identify as center right) you lost all trust in the mainstream media.

During the 2016 presidential election, Bernie Sanders refused to answer questions about Venezuela during an interview with Univision. He claimed to not want to talk about it because he’s “focused on my campaign.” Many suggested a more plausible reason: Venezuela’s present economy is an example of what happens when a state implements Bernie Sanders-style social democracy.

Similarly, Pope Francis — who has taken the time to denounce pro-market ideologies for allegedly driving millions into poverty — seems uninterested in talking about the untrammeled impoverishment of Venezuela in recent years.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said the new law unfairly targets undocumented Mexican immigrants in the state.

‘Undocumented’ is the Newspeak euphemism for ‘illegal’. How is ‘targeting’ illegal migrants unfair? Not explained. It Just Is.

Lorella Praeli, ACLU director of immigration policy and campaigns, said the concern for Hawaiians was that many of them “fit the racial profile that the police in Texas will use to enforce Trump’s draconian deportation force”.

What ‘racial profile’? The one the ACLU assumes that will be applied. What evidence do they have that a ‘racial profile’ will be applied? None. It Just Is. (Remind me, when did ‘Mexican’ become a race? I must have missed it.)

“Hawai?i residents traveling to Texas need to be prepared for illegal harassment,” said Mateo Caballero, legal director of ACLU Hawaii, in a statement.

Don’t they mean ‘undocumented’ harassment? And if it’s according to a law, how is it ‘illegal’? Not explained. It Just Is.

And where are they getting this ‘racial profile’?

What ‘racial profile’ do Hawai’i residents like Mark Zuckerberg or Larry Ellison that doesn’t fit Greg Abbott, the Governor?

Are they talking about the many people of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean descent who reside in Hawi’i? Got news for you — THEY DON’T LOOK LIKE MEXICANS.

Are they talking about Native Hawai’ians? Well, (a) there are very few Native Hawai’ians left, and (b) such people have no reason to come to Texas. (Tell the truth – if you could afford to live in Hawai’i, would you come to Texas? The question answers itself.)

And what happens when these ‘non-white’ people from Hawai’i get asked for documentation? Are they afraid of being deported back to Hawai’i?

I had an interesting conversation last night with a fellow critic of President Trump’s. He was irritated that I had insisted that those watching the Comey situation remain “skeptical but not hysterical.” Now, he said, is “the time to be hysterical.” I’ve been trying to understand why he was so vexed, and I think I’ve worked it out: He has assumed — and built into his thinking — that there is a huge Russia scandal in the background of all this. And I haven’t. I certainly think it’s possible that this goes deeper, and I remain as mistrustful toward this administration as I ever was. But I’m not going to credit theories about Watergate-level conspiracies without evidence, and my friend is. That’s the line that divides us.

The problem is that the anti-Trumpers have their entire souls invested in the notion that Trump Is So Bad There Must Be A Skeleton Somewhere, so even though there is no evidence of anything that just means that they have to look harder. Because it’s got to be there, and what do you mean there’s no evidence? Are you incompetent or something? We know there’s something there, because it’s got to be there, it’s just got to, so get off your lazy white ass and find it!

The major difference between ‘progressives’ and Real People is that Real People believe it when they see it, and ‘progressives see it when they believe it. It’s ‘another Watergate’ because it has to be. Trump is the New Nixon because he has to be (just as he has to be the New Hitler). This is a Constitutional Crisis because it has to be. Trump is on his way to a dictatorship because he has to be. I keep waiting for some MSNBC report on how there are secret concentration camps going up inside Mar a Lago, you just can’t see them because Trump Is That Sneaky.
