The Michigan Law Review selects student editors based on race and gender. It discriminates against white authors in favor of women and minorities. And it tells editors to avoid citing white men whenever possible—instructing them to “use your best efforts to locate a source that gives voice to historically marginalized identities.”

Those are some of the allegations in a lawsuit filed this week against the University of Michigan and its flagship law review. Represented by former Texas solicitor general Jonathan Mitchell, the plaintiffs include three scholars who have submitted manuscripts to the law review as well as a student who applied to be an editor.

The complaint alleges that the journal uses “race and sex preferences to select its members and articles” in violation of federal law. It also includes internal documents that shed light on the journal’s diversity policies, such as a production manual from the journal’s most recent volume.

This Thursday on CBS Mornings, the show highlighted a segment about the celebration of Juneteenth, a recently recognized federal holiday that observed the final emancipation of slaves in the United States was enforced in Texas, two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. While it has been celebrated in black culture for decades, it recently picked up attention in mainstream culture and media due to the day being memorialized in legislation signed by former President Joe Biden in 2021.

While undoubtedly the ending of slavery in the United States was a victory for freedom, the segment on CBS quickly unraveled from logical conversation into the argument that white people should celebrate the holiday by pushing for reparations.

The panel consisted of hosts Gayle King, Nate Burleson, Tony Dokoupil, and Professor and writer Kellie Carter Jackson to discuss celebrating the holiday. The conversation started normal enough, with Jackson recounting different historical traditions of the holiday and explaining how she involved her children in understanding slavery in an age-appropriate way.

The journal claimed the Free Beacon had quoted “selectively” from “five internal memos going back more than three years,” adding that the Harvard Law Review “considers several thousand submissions annually.”

“The Review does not consider race, ethnicity, gender, or any other protected characteristic as a basis for recommending or selecting a piece for publication,” the journal wrote in a fact sheet published on May 27.

But according to new documents obtained by the Free Beacon, the law review eliminates more than 85 percent of submissions using a rubric that asks about “author diversity.” And 40 percent of journal editors have cited protected characteristics when lobbying for or against articles—at one point killing a piece by an Asian-American scholar, Alex Zhang, after an editor complained in a meeting that “we have too many Yale JDs and not enough Black and Latino/Latina authors.”

The NAACP and an environmental group said Tuesday that they intend to sue Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI over concerns about air pollution generated by a supercomputer facility located near predominantly Black communities in Memphis.

The xAI data center began operating last year, powered in part by pollution-emitting gas turbines, without first applying for a permit. Officials have said an exemption allowed them to operate for up to 364 days without a permit. But Southern Environmental Law Center attorney Patrick Anderson said at a news conference that there is no such exemption for turbines — and that regardless, it has now been more than 364 days.

A 60-day notice of an intent to sue, a prerequisite to filing a lawsuit under the Clean Air Act, was sent to xAI in a letter. The Southern Environmental Law Center is representing the NAACP in its possible legal challenge against xAI and its permit application, now being considered by the Shelby County Health Department.

The fact that the NAACP is involved suggests that it’s less about the environment and more about putting the arm on Musk. A civil rights lawsuit filed on June 11 in federal court for the Eastern District of Tennessee claims that a program providing federal money to colleges and universities if Hispanic students make up at least 25 percent of the student body is unconstitutional.

In what The Sun newspaper called a ‘day of shame,’ the known number making ‘small boat’ crossing into Britain on a single day exceeded all previous records. Despite repeated promises to ‘smash the gangs,’ the official last day before the British summer begins saw 19 confirmed small boat arrivals bring 1,194 illegal migrants ashore.

This record day of migrant crossings puts the total 42% higher than where it stood in 2024, meaning crossings are at the highest rate with the largest total number of arrivals, predominantly young men, at any point since the crisis began in 2019. At one point the number of migrant vessels in the English Channel overwhelmed marine rescue services, who in turn called on local fishing boats for help.

Tulsa, Oklahoma’s first Black mayor, Monroe Nichols, unveiled a $105 million reparations package on Sunday, The New York Times reported.

The package, Road to Repair, was formed to address economic disparities among the city’s Black residents stemming from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

“On this first Tulsa Race Massacre Day of Observance, I am pleased to announce that my office has been collaborating with our legal department on the establishment of the Greenwood Trust,” Nichols said in a speech Sunday. “This private, charitable Trust will raise and facilitate the investment of $105 million in private funds along our Road to Repair for restoration and righteousness.”

The agency responsible for promoting scientific progress in the US and nurturing national STEM talent has proposed a budget of $3.9 billion, 61.7 percent less than the $10.183 billion sought in FY 2025. Actual budget appropriations tend to differ from the sum requested.

Established in 1950 to advance science and national health, prosperity, welfare, and defense, the NSF carries out its mission mainly by making grants to American colleges and universities and by supporting academic researchers.

“This is a budget of destruction of US science,” an NSF staffer told The Register. “Cuts of 65 percent to 75 in science, engineering and education will remove the United States from the world’s map of impact, will lead to irreversible damage to American creativity, and destroy our country’s GDP.” This person asked for anonymity for fear of getting fired for talking to the press.

Because, as we all know, NO SCIENCE WILL HAPPEN unless it is paid for by the Federal government – and the Federal taxpayer.

The U.S. Department of Education is investigating Wisconsin’s Green Bay Public School District for allegedly discriminating against a white student and blocking access to special needs services.

The DOE said in a release that it was responding to a complaint filed by the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty. WILL reported that a white elementary student was prevented from access to special needs services for dyslexia. The complaint alleges that a district employee told a WILL representative that the district used a color-coded spreadsheet to track whether “racial priority” groups were receiving services in front others.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act (1964) prohibits discrimination in federally funded education programs on the basis of race, color, or national origin. Additionally, the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits recipients of federal financial assistance from discriminating on the basis of disability.

A jury would later convict former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who is white, of Floyd’s murder. But the convict with the long rap sheet became a patron saint for a leftist movement preaching chaos in an election-year power grab.

President Donald Trump raised the issue of the killings of white South Africans in that country during an Oval Office visit by its president this week.

It came as the Trump administration expedited the refugee claims of some white South Africans who feel they are no longer safe in their black-majority home country.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the Trump administration’s actions when he appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday.

The Department of Health and Human Services launched a civil rights investigation in March into the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles. This claim is debunked by the fact that most of the rest of the world wants to come to the US and very few people want to leave. Those that do leave are usually among the wealthiest, or, they are gullible and think they can find something better overseas. It usually doesn’t go well for them.

The two Harvard University students who faced criminal charges for assaulting an Israeli classmate during an anti-Israel “die-in” protest will take an in-person anger management class and perform 80 hours of community service as part of a pretrial diversion program, court filings reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show.

The two students, Elom Tettey-Tamaklo and Ibrahim Bharmal, sought the program, and a Suffolk County judge approved it during a Monday hearing. Their attorneys requested only 40 hours of community service, but the judge sided with the prosecutor Ursula Knight’s call for 80 hours. Knight also called for the anger management class as well as a statement from Tettey-Tamaklo and Bharmal admitting fault. The judge did not include the latter request in his order.

Prosecutors in Minnesota’s largest county are now required to take a criminal defendant’s race into account when negotiating plea deals, following a new directive from Hennepin county attorney Mary Moriarty (D.).

“While racial identity and age are not appropriate grounds for departures [from the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines], proposed resolutions should consider the person charged as a whole person, including their racial identity and age,” Moriarty’s directive reads, according to Minneapolis outlet KARE11. “While these factors should not be controlling, they should be part of the overall analysis.”

“Prosecutors should be identifying and addressing racial disparities at decision points, as appropriate,” Moriarty added, arguing that such disparities cause “distrust” and harm “community safety.”

The home of slain Texas track athlete Austin Metcalf was swatted on Thursday night, the same day his father appeared at a press conference for suspect Karmelo Anthony, WFAA reported.

On Thursday, the slain teen’s father, Jeff Metcalf, attended a press conference in Dallas at the Next Generation Action Network, a nonprofit organization working with Anthony’s family in his criminal defense.

Hours later, the Metcalf home was targeted in a swatting call when police were notified of a gunshot reported at the address. “Swatting” is a term used when fake threats are called in to police with the implicit intention of creating an escalating situation with first responders.

PBS receives roughly 15 percent of its $373 million operating budget from the federal government. In addition to its member stations and on-demand streaming shows, some of the money goes to Independent Lens, the weekly series through which PBS airs documentary films. They often have to do with racism.

The 2022 Independent Lens flick Racist Trees, for example, chronicles a black neighborhood in the overwhelmingly liberal “LGBTQ haven” of Palm Springs, Calif. The neighborhood’s residents feel that a “wall of trees” that lines a nearby golf course was “intentionally planted to exclude and segregate” the neighborhood, and want the trees removed.

“They say that these trees are not racially motivated, that they were not racially planted there,” one interviewee says in the film. “They can prove that by one simple act. Remove the trees.”

One of Britain’s largest police forces is mandating “equity training” for officers, focusing on “white privilege”, “micro-aggressions” and the distinction between “non-racist versus anti-racist.”

The Telegraph reports that Thames Valley Police is putting officers through the training despite a tribunal last year finding that the force positively discriminated against white officers.

As we highlighted, the force appointed an Asian detective inspector without considering white officers for promotions.

The three officers who won the case, had all been working for the force for between 19-26 years and were actively blocked from applying for the position.

Now the rest of the force is being put through the “equity training,” which according to an independent review of the case “can often be seen as demonising white people and therefore building barriers to the learning.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture continues to discriminate in many of its programs, according to a new letter from the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty.

Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty wrote the letter telling the USDA that it will file a lawsuit if the issue is not corrected within 60 days.

Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty represents Chilton farmer Adam Faust, stating that Faust is not eligible to benefit from a dozen USDA race-based programs because he is a white farmer.

“USDA offers important resources for dairy farmers, including margin coverage, loan guarantees and grants,” Faust said. “But it is outrageous that some farmers get a better deal based on race. I am hopeful the Trump Administration will change course and fix these discriminatory programs.”

Faust previously successfully challenged USDA rules for programs under President Joe Biden’s administration through Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty.

A 16-year-old runner at a California high school is suing Attorney General Rob Bonta over failure to enforce Title IX standards to protect female athletes.

In November, Taylor Starling, a track athlete at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, California, along with her teammate, Kaitlyn Slavin, filed suit against the district, alleging she lost a spot on the team to a biological male student. Now Stirling has added Bonta to the lawsuit in light of President Donald Trump’s executive order that banned males from competing in female sports.

“I felt angry when I was removed from my varsity team because I knew the requirements were changed for him because he is transgender. I felt like my sacrifice, hard work, and dedication didn’t matter to my school administrators because I am a girl. It was easy for them to push me aside and that hurt,” Starling said.

Apparently it’s not enough to be a girl to be on a girls’ team, you have to be the right kind of ‘girl’.

Recently, a young Black male killed another young White male. This is hardly news, seeing as how every day, young Black males kill. It’s a ‘hood workout. The apparent motive in this case, was that the young Black male felt “disrespected.” In ghetto culture, you don’t accept “disrespect.” You have to respond, too often in a deadly way.

Now why this story has become national news is puzzling. The young victim, an honor roll high school student named Austin Metcalf, who was a Division 1 college football prospect, is no different than countless other White victims of Black pathology who remain anonymous because the crimes were ignored by mainstream media. The murderer is named Karmelo Anthony. We were assured that he came from a good home, unlike the vast majority of young Black killers. In this case, Anthony appears to have wandered into the tent provided for members of Metcalf’s high school track team. Maybe Karmelo forgot what school he went to. Metcalf asked him to leave, because the tent was reserved for track players at his particular high school. Now, no one asks a young Black man to leave any place. If he’s there, he must have a reason. So, Karmelo felt “disrespected.” And he responded in an appropriate ghetto style.

According to Austin’s twin brother, who will be haunted for the rest of his life by reliving the indescribable agony of his twin dying in his arms, Austin represented no threat to Karmelo. Austin didn’t bring a knife, or any other weapon, to a track meet. Karmelo Anthony did. The mainstream media normally suppresses stories like this, because they are so common that even the comatose “normies” might eventually start wondering. But they did report this one. Why? And the reaction has been predictable; uniform and irrational Black solidarity online. I’m sure Joy Reid and the shrews from The View will be chiming in soon. There is no other racial group that would attempt to justify cold blooded murder. You couldn’t find a single White person on earth defending this killer, if the races were reversed. This case is as cut and dry as can be. A knife to the heart for being asked to move from a restricted area?

More than a year later Judge Irving responded. He did not order a new trial, but given how expensive and time-consuming that would be, arguably did something more useful. He ordered the punitive damages against Steyn, which he called “grossly excessive,” reduced to a mere five thousand dollars, the “maximum” sum Steyn’s attorney had suggested was reasonable.

But there was more good news to come. A week later, Judge Irving responded to Steyn’s motion that Mann pay legal fees. While only partially granting the motion, Judge Irving’s rhetoric was scathing.

What especially infuriated him was the Mann team’s false claims of a huge loss in grant money– which Judge Irving called “an affront to the Court’s authority.” The team had offered “plainly false evidence” and were guilty of “bad faith misconduct “… “extraordinary in its scope, extent, and intent.” Judge Irving said he would issue sanctions to cover the costs the defendants had in countering these “outright misrepresentations.” Steyn and Simberg have been told to submit their costs by the end of March and it is highly probable they will exceed the $5,000 Steyn owes in punitive damages. Simberg is already ahead when it comes to his punitive damages, since the court in January affirmed a sanctions award to him and CEI of $9,000 for other Mann team misbehavior during discovery.

The massive changes in US research brought about by the new administration of President Donald Trump are causing many scientists in the country to rethink their lives and careers. More than 1,200 scientists who responded to a Nature poll — three-quarters of the total respondents — are considering leaving the United States following the disruptions prompted by Trump. Europe and Canada were among the top choices for relocation.

Yeah,  well, they’re going to find out that there aren’t very many such jobs in Canada and Europe, which is why scientists from Canada and Europe come to the U.S., both for school and for after-school employment.

This student lost her research support and her stipend when the Trump administration shut down funding for the US Agency for International Development. Her adviser found emergency funds to support her in the short term, but she is scrambling to apply for teaching-assistant positions — now extremely competitive — to carry her through the rest of her programme.

The gravy train is entering the station and getting ready to stop. Time to get off and find a real job.

I’ll bet that, like the Democrats who swear up and down that they’re going to leave, this is all hot air and noise.

Hundreds of advocacy organizations have called on Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) to reject a budget blueprint from House Republicans.

A letter sent to Thune, led by the liberal health care advocacy group Families USA, features more than 300 organizations, such as Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the NAACP and the American Civil Liberties Union.

“We write to share our deep concerns about the House-passed budget reconciliation resolution—specifically the catastrophic health care cuts it would require and the resulting harm it would impose on families and communities across the country,” according to the letter, sent Wednesday.

As aways, proglodytes assume that if the government doesn’t do something, It Won’t Ever Get Done.

When they say ‘cuts’, they always refer to a reduction in spending increases, not actual cuts at all.

This country survived for centuries without the Federal government paying for people’s health care, and ‘families and communities across the country’ got along just fine. The actual problem they have is that they are afraid that the gravy train of Federal money is going to decrease–it’s too much to hope that it will stop completely–and this threatens their status and paychecks. The government’s job is to keep people safe and keep people honest, not to pay for their stuff.

On Monday, Donald Trump’s Department of Justice made two arguments in two different courts that, taken together, amount to a legal claim of near-dictatorial power by Trump. First, it informed a federal appeals court that the president has authority to declare any noncitizens to be “alien enemies” and to deport them to foreign prison, where they will be forced to perform hard labor indefinitely—without notice, a hearing, or any meaningful opportunity to prove their innocence. Second, it refused to provide U.S. District Judge James Boasberg with details of these mass deportation operations, even in a closed courtroom, even under seal, insisting that Boasberg’s authority must yield to the “mandate of the electorate.” In other words, Trump’s electoral victory grants him an absolute right to conduct these deportations, rendering them unreviewable by the judiciary.

Well, no. What renders them ‘unreviewable by the judiciary’ is the President’s plenary power, under the Constitution, to conduct American foreign policy. This is basic Separation of Powers stuff, and has nothing to do with any ‘mandate of the electorate’. This whole ‘mandate of the electorate’ business refers to the fundamental value of democracy, which sock-puppets for the Democrat party purport to value higher than any other value. Either we live in a democratic system in which people get to determine policy by electing certain people to do that stuff for them, or we do not.

What terrifies Slate and other constituents of the Narrative Media is the prospect that democracy doesn’t mean that they win all the time. And that prospect upsets their entire world-view.
