A columnist for The Guardian burnishes his proglodyte credentials by rooting out victims.
A report last year by my Guardian colleague Sarah Butler focused on a dark kitchen site near Canary Wharf in London, and vividly evoked what went on there: “The boxes have no windows and many of the chefs work with the doors open … Working in the metal boxes is either hot or cold, depending on the weather and whether they are cooking or prepping. In one kitchen, there is only a small fan heater for cold days. Another houses a pizza oven that takes up more than a third of the space and makes it extremely hot.” Online ads for jobs in such places offer hourly wages of between £8.50 and £9, and roles best suited to people who are “reliable”, “hard working”, and have “two years’ experience in [a] fast paced kitchen”.
What’s up with these people, working for a living when they’re supposed to be drawing the dole like the rest of the proletarian underclass? We have to get out there and get them woke!
For progs, it’s always 1844, and they’re always lining up to see who gets to play Dickens this week.

Entirely appropriate — if Columbus (or some other European) hadn’t ‘discovered’ the Americas, ‘native Americans’ would have remained stone-age barbarians raiding and massacring each other for centuries.
Any ‘native American’ who can read, write, do arithmetic, or live past age 40 should thank the nearest person of European descent.

These days, nobody is anybody unless she was assaulted in high school.
And, of course, nobody will know you’re the victim (and get the appropriate Victim Pokemon Points) unless you ‘share your story’.
I have to confess that I was never sexually assaulted in high school, no doubt due to the fact that I didn’t got to parties full of drunks. Boy, if only I knew what an opportunity I was passing up….

State and federal programs aim to ensure minority-owned businesses can compete for government contracts after generations of institutional discrimination. A Lynnwood man long identified as white is using DNA ethnicity estimates to claim minority status.
Whenever there is a government program or benefit, people will crawl out of the woodwork and try to game the system.
Yet some who qualified for the program acknowledged they had never been disenfranchised. A Yakima man who qualified for both the state and federal programs said he is about 6 percent African American, looks Caucasian and has never encountered discrimination. Since 2014, the program has helped him win millions of dollars in contracts.

One rule of identity politics is that you get to choose your identity: ‘I identify as trans Latinx’. Another rule is that your identity is fated: ‘I was born trans Latinx’. The assumption of choice applies the logic of the market in a society of cheap credit and easy bankruptcy. The invoking of biological destiny is the crude mechanics of Victorian race theory.
This is a pastiche of the ‘nature versus nurture’ debate. The purpose, though, isn’t the ‘identity’ part, solving the mystery of how we are made and become ourselves, but the ‘politics’ part. As in evolution, choice and heredity are complementary strategies, deployed for competitive advantage.

I’m familiar with the names of more social science professors than most people, but I’d never heard of “male feminist” sociologist Michael Kimmel. But apparently he’s a tireless self-promoter and big deal in Gender Studies, about as big a deal as a straight white man can get. But now he’s been Me Tooed by a former grad student of indeterminate gender (pronoun: “they”) named Bethany M. Coston. They says, at vast length, that Kimmel is just awful….

The New York Times is going to keep running opeds on how the wave of shootings in Chicago since the triumph over the cops of BLM in November 2015 are the fault of the Usual Suspects (cops, white supremacy, white men, Trump, systemic racism, etc etc) until somebody comes up with a semi-persuasive sounding one. Today … “food deserts” are to blame:

It is difficult to exaggerate how radical Natasha Chart’s feminism is. She is chairwoman of the board of Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF), an organization that originated in Deep Green Resistance, which is just about as far left as you can go (without moving to Pyongyang).
It is therefore highly significant that Chart has joined the Hands Across the Aisle coalition, an effort to unite women across ideological boundaries in opposition to The Transgender Cult.
In a must-read article at The Federalist, Chart describes the harassment feminists have endured — including violence and bomb threats — for daring to dissent from transgender ideology….

One of the more entertaining aspects of the proglodyte Coalition of Perverts is that, like Marxists, they are prone to internal squabbles and (attempted) purges. Usually it boils down to one group thinking that it deserves more Pokemon Victim Points than they are actually being granted, so they throw a tantrum and hold their breath until they turn into People of Color. It’s hard to keep track.

The year was 2010, and Neymar, then 18, had shot to fame in Brazil after a sensational breakout season. During an interview for the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, in between a conversation about Disneyland and sports cars, he was asked if he had ever experienced racism. “Never. Not in the field, nor outside of it,” he replied.
“It’s not like I’m black, you know?”
His answer was heard like a record-scratch across the country. Was this young man in denial about his racial identity? Particularly when in the same interview he outlined his meticulous hair care regime, which involved getting his locks chemically straightened every few weeks, then bleached blonde.
To those who obsess on race, the world is full of thorny conundrums. He would certainly qualify as ‘black’ for affirmative-action purposes in the U.S., but apparently Brazil is more ‘nuanced’ about that sort of thing.
That same year, in Spain, a spectator threw a banana at Daniel Alves, Neymar’s fellow Brazilian and then-teammate at F.C. Barcelona. Alves jauntily ate the banana in defiance.
Now that’s comedy. That guy is a Republican in his heart.
“This is the difference between Brazil and America,” Paulo César Lima, the 1970 World Cup champion and black rights activist, said during the 2010 episode. “Over there, if you’re black, you stand up and say you’re black.”
And sometimes, even when you aren’t black, you stand up and say you’re black.
America’s politics of racial purity, which culminated in the notion that even one-drop of African blood made a person legally black, fostered solidarity among those targeted by discriminatory laws.
Reinforced over the last half-century by those pushing Identity Politics, to the point where black people have no concept of who they are except in relation to white people. If all of the white people disappeared from America, black people wouldn’t know what to do.
Brazil, however, the often admirable blurring of racial boundaries is a modern reality that — rather than stemming from colorblindness — is tainted with the sinister origins of state-sanctioned attempts to dilute, even dissolve, blackness.
In other words, they’re trying to build a race-blind society, as Martin Luther King dreamed. But that doesn’t set well with the steeped-in-Identity-Politics propagandists at the New York Times.
Steve Sailer cuts through the crap with his take here:
Basically, wokeness is a form of cognitive shorthand for determining who are the Good Guys and who are the Bad Guys. Instead of having to laboriously work out via objective principles who in a situation is behaving better, you can just tell who is Good and who is Bad by looking at them or listening to them assert their identity claims.
Now, of course, there are endless unresolved complications and disagreements in terms of Intersectional Diversity Pokemon Points. But the holders of Pokemon Points can at least agree that Cishet White Males are Bad, which does a lot to paper over the cracks in the Coalition of the Fringes.

In 2011, a group of University of Wyoming students created a Facebook group called “UW Crushes,” where they shared anonymous declarations of attraction to one another. The police were called to investigate when one anonymous poster wrote: “I want to hatef–k Meg Lanker Simons so hard That chick runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn’t care who knows it. I think its [sic] hot and it makes me angry. One night with me and shes [sic] gonna be a good Republican bitch.” Students who were members of the group asked the group’s administrators to remove the post. But Lanker Simons objected: “Actually, I want this to stay up. This is disgusting, misogynistic, and apparently something the admins of this page think is a perfectly acceptable sentiment.” She continued: “Even if it is taken down, I’m left to wonder if there’s someone out there with a violent fantasy about me—and likely other women.” Police later determined that the post was a hoax and that the threat had been written by Meg Lanker Simons herself. Before the police arrived at this conclusion, a rally against “rape culture” had been held at the university.

John Derbyshire reviews the Privilege That Dare Not Speak It’s Name.
White privilege, black privilege, you can argue those terms back and forth all day long. I’ll give you my take on those precise terms some other time. What, it seems plain to me, exists in plain sight beyond any trace of doubt, is mulatto privilege.
If you’re just a little bit black — I think one-eighth is about the sweet spot — and your family is upper-middle-class or better, you’ve got it made. You get a good start in good schools (which is to say, schools with lots of upper-middle-class white, Jewish, and Asian students), then you get to float effortlessly upwards on the warm drafts of liberal guilt and affirmative action.
Hence the phenomenon of the Mulatto Mafia that was so prominent in the Obama administration. There was Obama himself, of course, and Eric Holder, Susan Rice,Valerie Jarrett, … you know the cast list. The Mulatto Mafia.

Seattle’s city council is considering a 26-cent tax on every hour of employee work at companies grossing more than $20 million a year. The proposal, which is scheduled for a vote on Monday, prompted one of the city’s largest private employers, Amazon, to pause construction on a new office tower. The move was in character for a corporate giant known to play hardball with municipalities, for good and ill. But according to the union-backed group Working Washington, Amazon’s reaction is not just irritating; it’s felonious.
The construction pause is “the sort of thing you might expect from a subprime mob boss lording it over a company town—and that’s not just a metaphor,” says an open letter from the group to Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson. Working Washington claims “there is abundant evidence” that Amazon has broken a state law criminalizing threats against public officials aimed at affecting their votes or decisions. “We urge you to investigate and prosecute Amazon for this serious crime,” the group says.
This is the problem with all those low-IQ people going to law school. A lot of them don’t listen in class.
