When I was watching the following video, my first reaction was: “This is the future of British policing.”

That is, when civil authority collapses, fit young men who are not averse to violence will assume the job of enforcing community standards, whatever they may be. If the fit young men are Muslims, they will enforce Islamic community standards, i.e. Sharia. If they are native white Britons, they will enforce whatever remains of traditional British community standards. The latter is what you see in the video below.

The window of opportunity for such enforcement is closing rapidly, however. In five years or so there will no longer be a quorum of fit young white men to enforce traditional British community standards. From then on it will be the Pakistanis or the Jamaicans doing the enforcement, but mostly the Pakistanis, because they have the numbers.

In other words, what you see in the video won’t be possible for much longer.

Nathaniel Wetter Taylor, the protester who allegedly pepper-sprayed two special police officers outside of the Heritage Foundation last year, delivered his own opening statement before a jury Thursday, attacking Heritage as “fascist” and claiming that the officers violated his rights.

Appearing in the D.C. Superior Court, Taylor told the jury that his actions were a “simple case of freedom of speech and protecting yourself.”

Taylor held a solo protest at the Heritage Foundation on June 11, 2025. He walked up to the Heritage Foundation’s front doors holding a sign and a recording smartphone.

When two special police officers, who are licensed to protect and make arrests on Heritage property, attempted to remove Taylor from the property, he pepper-sprayed one of them in the eyes and the other in the mouth, according to security video footage of the incident.

He was later arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of assaulting a police officer.

To hear the legacy media tell it, the sensible “middle-of-the-road” and “centrist” Xavier Becerra is likely to proceed to the runoff in the California governor race, and while he may have been the establishment pick, he’s far from moderate on abortion or transgender ideology.

In fact, Becerra has an ugly record of weaponizing the law against conservatives.

Becerra spent 24 years in the House of Representatives before California Gov. Jerry Brown, also a Democrat, appointed him attorney general to replace the outgoing Kamala Harris. After four years as attorney general, Becerra led the Department of Health and Human Services under President Joe Biden.

If a major Senate candidate abused a past girlfriend, isn’t that newsworthy?

If a major Senate candidate knowingly sported a Nazi tattoo, isn’t that newsworthy?

If a major Senate candidate, already under fire for his past remarks about rape, talked about raping intruders, isn’t that newsworthy?

You’d think so.

Yet in an extensive new article about Maine Democrat Graham Platner, The New York Times reporters penned over 1,000 words before revealing the detailed allegation of physical abuse. (There is a very brief mention of Platner being “physically threatening” in paragraph six.)

There are over 500 words before reporting that an ex-girlfriend says Platner knew his tattoo was a Nazi symbol.

And there are about 1,300 words before the revelation that Platner “said … a lot: If anybody ever broke in here, I would rape them” and “He was like, I would rape them to show them that I’m dominant,” according to that same ex.

As anyone with experience in journalism knows, most readers generally won’t read a full article—or even most of an article, depending on how long it is. Most people are busy. That’s why journalists are taught to put the most important facts in the first few paragraphs of an article.

So it’s telling that The New York Times, a major outlet with employees most definitely familiar with journalism norms, decided that the opening paragraphs of its article should include sentences like “several women … [described] Mr. Platner as a fun and caring partner, and saying they felt safe with him,” but not the most explosive allegations of his former girlfriend, Lyndsey Fifield.

If you’ve ever tried chatting with a public figure, you probably know what I mean by “hitting the cache”. They produce slick soundbites that sound smart-ish, and could plausibly be connected to the question you asked, or what you said. But the responses aren’t bespoke. It’s like they have a lookup table, and compare the vague topic and sentiment of what you said to their roster of prepared responses, and return the best match.

This is not unique to public figures. I do it. I think almost everyone does it to some degree. And the degree tends to correlate with how often they get asked the question. (The same way a webserver serves cached versions of the most frequently-requested, slow-to-load pages.) Since public figures get asked the same questions a lot, it makes sense that they serve most traffic from the cache.

The cache can have good stuff in it, but it’s never as interesting as interacting directly with the origin. The cache is stale. The cache is optimized. The cache is safe.

How do we bust the cache?

Bizarrely, in many states, if you want to start a business, you first must convince bureaucrats that your business is “needed.”

Four years ago, Louisiana blocked social worker Ursula Newell-Davis from helping kids with special needs. Bureaucrats said she hadn’t proved her business was needed.

“Why does the state of Louisiana have the right to stop me from doing what I love?” she asks in this update video.

Good question. Ursula has a master’s degree and a social work license. For two decades, she’s helped kids with special needs.

One, Kamal, told us he struggled to make friends, until Ursula “helped teach me how to talk to people.”

Kamal’s mother is grateful: “She explained to me things that I didn’t understand about my kids. It allowed me to go back into the community and work.”

Ursula helped many families. But four years ago, she tried to help more kids by doing short-term respite work.

Amnesty International’s reaction to the murder of Henry Nowak has prompted outrage, with the organization having nothing to say about the atrocious and inhumane actions of the police during the incident, but sharply condemning the “political commentary” in the wake of Nowak’s death.

“At a time when hate crimes are rising, and violence and fear are becoming a daily reality for people of colour and migrants, calls for ‘cold, hard rage’ are completely reckless. Henry Nowak’s murder is an awful tragedy and his family have said “we do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred or tension”. The very least politicians can do is respect that,” wrote Amnesty International.

Not everyone is happy about Amnesty International’s remarks on the case, which has up until now, said nothing about the manner in which the police handcuffed a dying Nowak as he bled out from eight stab wounds.

Three months ago, just as the Iran war was getting started, we said it was surprising that UAE’s oil export terminal of Fujairah – already the Middle East’s largest bunkering terminal for tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz and major loading point for Murban crude – was not a far bigger in terms of capacity and throughput as it bypasses the Straits completely, and predicted a “major infrastructure push here after the war.”

That, coupled with the fact that Saudi East-West pipeline was running at peak capacity of roughly 7mmb/d (including non-oil products), and one could see – we said – the urgency gripping the Gulf in finding alternatives to the Strait of Hormuz which has emerged as Iran’s biggest source of leverage in the war.

Fast forward to today when we get the latest confirmation that plans for Hormuz alternatives are indeed front and center, after the FT reported that gulf countries that export oil via the Strait of Hormuz are in talks about planning pipelines that would allow them to bypass the waterway should it remain largely closed.

Kuwait was among the countries talking to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates about potential pipelines across their countries that could connect Gulf oil production to global buyers, said Sheikh Khaled Ahmad Al-Sabah, managing director of international marketing at Kuwait Petroleum Corp.

Ebola has spread to a health zone more than 100 miles from the mining town where the Democratic Republic of Congo’s latest outbreak is believed to have originated, Bloomberg reported.

Health officials confirmed the virus has been detected in a distant health zone from Bunia, the capital of Ituri Province in northeastern Congo.

The development underscores the challenges facing response teams working to contain the disease in a region marked by armed conflict, population movement, and mistrust of authorities.

The outbreak has been declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization, and the death toll has risen to more than 100.

Two cases, including one death, have also been reported in neighboring Uganda.

Contact tracing is considered one of the most critical tools for containing Ebola.

If you own property in California, you’re not safe. A new ballot measure will empower the state to confiscate a percentage of the assets of any resident, even though its initial provisions don’t communicate that intent. California’s “One-Time Wealth Tax for State-Funded Healthcare, Education, and Food Assistance Programs Initiative,” which has already qualified for the November ballot, is even worse than it appears.

It’s not as if appearances aren’t bad enough. The explicit intent of the initiative already chased at least six billionaires out of the state in 2025. Moved to Florida are Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, along with PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel. Nevada is now home to billionaire Don Hankey, and Texas has welcomed former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick. Famed director Steven Spielberg has moved to New York, apparently concluding even that deep blue state is a safer bet than California. Just the departure of these six men has lowered the potential take from the wealth tax by an estimated $27 billion.

A Hoover Institution study claims that another 20 California billionaires have already made departure plans and will leave immediately if the initiative is approved by voters. One of the initiative’s many diabolical provisions is that it will apply retroactively to anyone living in the state after January 1, 2026, but unlike the six who got out in 2025, this next tranche of would-be exiles have been advised by their attorneys that the initiative’s retroactivity will not survive a constitutional challenge.

Well, it appears that Douglas Murray has finally come around. He’s always been on the same team as us hard-core Islamophobes, but it used to be that he pulled his punches. He tended to use the word “Islamist”. He didn’t want to talk like a racist or “extremist”, the way Tommy Robinson did.

But something has shifted in British political culture. The trial of Henry Nowak’s murderer was just the last straw — a big change has been brewing for some time. Nigel Farage, ever the opportunist, has trimmed his sails to take advantage of the new prevailing winds: he said, “White lives matter.” There’s no going back for him now. He’ll never be admitted to the Big Club where he might have rubbed elbows with the leaders of Labour, the Tories, and the Lib-Labs. His die is cast.

The Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act was brought to the Senate as an amendment by Lindsey Graham as part of the $70 billion budget reconciliation package funding Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol.

The usual senate suspects, Thom Tillis, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Mitch McConnell voted with Democrats to kill the SAVE America Act amendment. 75% of Americans support the requirement for voter ID, the Senate doesn’t want that.

First, consider the trail of unintended consequences that follows environmental policy like a shadow. The case of Wild Justice, the activist group co-founded by Chris Packham, provides a perfect, if gruesome, example. Their (fortunately, mostly failed) legal campaigns have not only tightened corvid shooting licenses across the countryside—making it nearly impossible for land managers to control burgeoning populations of crows and magpies—but have directly led to a spike in horrific animal welfare incidents. In 2019, following Wild Justice’s legal challenge that forced Natural England to revoke general licences for shooting carrion crows, farmers across the country reported lambs having their eyes pecked out by emboldened corvids. The policy, born of a simplistic urban notion that all wild birds are equally sacred, ignored the real-world consequence: a slow, agonising death for livestock that no court in London will ever have to witness. This is the hallmark of ideology untethered from practical land management.

Which brings us to the uncomfortable truth about these environmental pressure groups: they are not scientific bodies nor serious land managers, but a religious cult dressed in waterproofs made from oil—the very fossil fuel they claim to despise yet don without a flicker of hypocrisy. They operate on faith, not data. Their central dogma is that nature left entirely alone is a pure, static Eden—a belief that would collapse instantly if any of them had to spend a winter feeding stock on a marginal moor. They have outlier high priests who survive by conjuring audiences through triggering (Packham, George Monbiot), holy texts (rewilding manifestos and ‘peer review’ nonsense heralding from redbrick universities), and a concept of original sin (human intervention).
