The Classic Learning Test, an alternative to standardized tests like the SAT and ACT, has scored recent legislative victories in Texas and Oklahoma, with another win expected in Louisiana. These changes allow students to use their CLT score when applying for college.
Jeremy Tate, a former schoolteacher who created the CLT in 2015, spoke with The Daily Signal about the legislative victories and future goals of the Classic Learning Test. As its CEO, he is passionate about offering students an alternative college entrance exam.

ZMan rips back the curtain.
The streaming story is a good example of how culture is too complicated to model with a green visor and excel spreadsheet. The bean counters just assumed streaming would follow the model of the rental market, which followed the pattern they saw in the secondary theater market. Low budget films, mediocre films and even terrible films made additional money in the secondary theater market. When take-home rentals came along, these films often got a second life in this market.
It has not worked that way with streaming. A film like the live action Snow White, which was torn apart by internet critics, was a massive flop at the theaters, but then had no life in the streaming market. In the old days, it would get rentals from people curious about it or for get-togethers with friends to have a good time laughing at a bad film. That is not the dynamic with streaming. People will watch nothing rather than sit down to watch a bad movie or something unknown to them.
What streaming failed to account for is the social aspect of films. In the old days, going to the theater for many people was like going to church. It was a thing you did every weekend, not because of the content but because of the social aspect. The theater was where men took their dates and the choice of film or how they selected the film to see was part of the courtship. Friends went to the theater, even if the films on offer were unknown or not good, because it was part of the social event.

Nicolle Wallace is one of the original “MSNBC Republicans,” a former adviser to George W. Bush and John McCain who quickly swapped sides to become one of the more popular Democratic Party-line tap dancers on her show “Deadline White House.”
Her reflexive leftist take on the Los Angeles riots was a “uniquely alarming moment”—not the riots, but President Donald Trump‘s response to the riots. It wasn’t a response so much as it was “theater.” She claimed former President Barack Obama was more effective at deporting illegal immigrants—like Democrats do.
Naturally, former CNN media reporters Oliver Darcy and Jon Passantino define her as a “defining voice of the resistance” with “clear eyes and keen political insight.” Translation: She’s reliably, bitterly anti-Trump.

The UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s 35-nation Board of Governors declared Iran in breach of its non-proliferation obligations on Thursday, June 12th, for the first time in almost 20 years, raising the prospect of reporting it to the UN Security Council.
Israel on Thursday urged the international community to “respond decisively” to the IAEA report and prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons..
“Iran has consistently obstructed IAEA’s verification and monitoring, it removed inspectors, and it sanitised and concealed suspected undeclared locations in Iran,” Israel’s foreign ministry said on X.

The EU is silently preparing to roll out major new treaty reforms before the end of the decade for the first time since the Lisbon Treaty of 2009, and most Europeans have no idea.
That’s deliberate, of course, since the current proposals—drafted primarily by the hardline eurofederalist Guy Verhofstadt—would give unprecedented control to the EU Commission in nearly all national matters, irreversibly damaging national sovereignty, and therefore, democratic representation, in the process.
Luckily, there is now also an alternative vision, even if it’s a long shot to expect the mainstream EU elites ever to agree with it. EU experts and Patriot MEPs presented a comprehensive reform proposal in the European Parliament on Wednesday, June 11th, with decentralization, sovereignty, and local decision-making at its core, titled “The Great Reset.”

A sham Palestinian charity added to the U.S. terrorist sanctions list this week has worked closely with elite American universities—including Harvard, Yale, and Columbia—to promote anti-Israel propaganda.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury said the West Bank-based Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, which describes itself as a “civil institution that works to support Palestinian political prisoners,” has “long supported and is affiliated” with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a terrorist group that took part in the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks.
The designation came as part of the Trump administration’s broader crackdown against “fraudulent” charities linked to Hamas and the PFLP, which includes sanctions against five other organizations.
Addameer has a long history of partnering with prominent colleges and student groups to push unverified allegations against Israel, a Washington Free Beacon review found.

California jails failed to honor more than 13,000 ICE detainers over 2½ years, significantly affecting enforcement of federal immigration law and public safety, according to newly released Immigration and Customs Enforcement records, Breitbart reported.
New records show that Golden State jails did not comply with over 13,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer requests between October 2022 and February 2025. The documents, reviewed by the Center for Immigration Studies, highlight California as the state most frequently refusing to cooperate with federal immigration officials.
An ICE detainer asks local or state law enforcement to hold those under arrest for up to 48 hours after their scheduled release, allowing ICE to take custody for potential deportation. CIS said, “More than half of the declined detainers (52%) were refused by jails and prisons in California.”

Donie O’Sullivan is a senior correspondent for CNN who purports to be an expert on political “extremism” in America. The esteemed journalist earned an Emmy nomination for his three-part series, MisinfoNation: Extreme America, in which he traveled “around the country meeting far-right extremists with a long history of hate.” For some reason, O’Sullivan has been remarkably uninterested in covering the ongoing outburst of left-wing violence in this country.
My, what a surprise.
Over the past three weeks, two Israeli embassy officials were gunned down by a radical leftist shouting “Free Palestine,” more than a dozen peaceful protesters (including a Holocaust survivor) were injured in a makeshift flamethrower attack carried out by an illegal immigrant who said he wanted to “kill all Zionist people,” and violent hooligans in Los Angeles have rioted in support of illegal immigration by looting stores, setting fire to cars, and hurling bricks at police officers. In New York City on Wednesday, illegal immigration supporters chanted, “From Mexico to Gaza, globalize the intifada.”
During that time, O’Sullivan produced just one lousy segment for CNN. Three days after the firebomb attack in Boulder, Colo., he traveled to Denver (less than an hour away) to cover the defamation trial of MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. He appeared on the failing network several times last week to discuss the public feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Yet observers have taken note of O’Sullivan’s glaring absence as left-wing extremists wreaked havoc in Los Angeles. Perhaps in an effort to provide proof of life, the journalist logged onto his X account and reposted his colleague Brian Stelter’s absurd comments about how the “unrest” in Los Angeles was being blown out of proportion by “fake content” from “unvetted social media accounts.”

Federal authorities in Southern California filed a complaint charging three foreign nationals with conspiring to distribute nearly four tons of methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a June 5 statement.
Erick Arriola, 27, from El Salvador, and Mexican nationals Baltazar Rodriguez Reyes, 49, and Eugenio Lizama, 35, were charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. They face a minimum of 10 years in prison.
According to federal prosecutors, Arriola is a felon convicted of DUI, battery of a spouse, and false imprisonment.
Sure, send them to prison, where they will be welcomed by their fellow Mexican gang members, with which our prisons are currently overcrowded.

New numbers from the California Department of Education show a continued drop in public school enrollment in the 2024–2025 school year. Despite fewer students, TK-12 education spending continues to increase, begging the question of whether taxpayers are getting value for money.
The 5.8 million students counted for the just-concluded school year represents a reduction of 31,000 from 2023–2024 and 380,000 (or 6 percent) from before the pandemic. But the drop in traditional public school enrollment is even worse than these headline numbers suggest. The totals include charter schools which added 75,000 students since the 2018–19 school year.
Netting out charters yields an enrollment drop of 8 percent, and this is despite the fact that a new grade, Transitional Kindergarten, was added during the period.
People are pulling their kids out of California public schools because they realize that their kids are getting indoctrinated in Woke ideology rather than actually educated. California would be a great place if it weren’t for the Californians.

Hamas has killed five staff belonging to a new US aid delivery company in Gaza and may also have taken hostages, the organisation said.
In a statement early on Thursday, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) team said the terror group attacked a bus carrying more than two-dozen of its team at around 10pm on Wednesday.
GHF said Palestinians working “side-by-side with the US” to deliver critical aid were “brutally attacked by Hamas”.
A statement said: “At the time of the attack, our team was en route to one of our distribution centres in the area west of Khan Younis.
“We are still gathering facts, but what we know is devastating: there are at least five fatalities, multiple injuries, and fear that some of our team members may have been taken hostage.”

The U.S. Navy’s future Constellation class frigates are set to be at least 759 metric tons (close to 867 U.S. tons) heavier than expected, a 13 percent increase over earlier estimates. Concerns have previously been raised about how weight growth with the Constellation class design, which was still being finalized as of April, could negatively impact the ships’ top speed and other capabilities. Overall, the frigate program, the entire point of which was to leverage an existing in-production design to help reduce risk and speed up delivery, remains years behind schedule and at risk of ballooning costs.
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), a Congressional watchdog, included the new details about the Constellation class design’s weight growth and other updates about the program in an annual assessment of major procurement efforts across the U.S. military released today. The U.S. Navy chose Marinette Marine in Wisconsin, a wholly owned subsidiary of Italy’s Fincantieri, to build the new frigates in 2020. The ship’s core design is derived from the Franco-Italian Fregata Europea Multi-Missione (FREMM).
The Navy currently expects to take delivery of the first-in-class USS Constellation in 2029, three years behind schedule. The service has, to date, awarded Marinette Marine contracts to build six Constellation class frigates.
The Navy procurement system is so screwed up that they would be better off just getting rid of it and starting fresh. Steve Jobs would have fired all of these people by now.

Since Trump arrived for a second turn at the wheel, everyone has been wondering when the Blob would make its move against him. The one thing we know about these people is they never take no for an answer. Every setback is met with a new round of schemes against their enemies. The relatively muted response to this point has had many people scratching their heads. The invader riots in Los Angeles that are spreading to other cities appear to be the long-awaited response.
At this point, it is clear that the Los Angeles riot is synthetic. The internet is full of images and videos showing professionally trained rioters. For example, whenever you see college aged white girls with whistles at one of these things, you know the army of not-for-profits has their people on the ground training protestors. The whistle is a common, low-tech item for professional protestors. It is often used to alert the lawyers stationed at the protest to come to the area.
There is also the fact that the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, was on the board of the National Endowment for Democracy. This is one of the main hubs of the Blob, primarily used to stage color revolutions around the world. When Bass was in Congress she was on a committee that had the job of overseeing NED, while she was also their most senior board member. Of course, the color revolution queen, Victoria Nuland, is currently a senior Blob person at NED.
It appears that the plan is to replay the Summer of Floyd, but this time with little brown guys as the fig leaf for the project. The George Floyd riots were also a manufactured crisis, organized by white activists. They caught fire and became a series of race riots, where blacks burned down their own neighborhoods, but the general operation was run out of Washington. This time they are trying get the migrants and brown activists worked up into a ghetto riot.

Wednesday, June 11th, saw approximately 120 individuals brought ashore in the early morning, with more predicted to follow. These arrivals are the first since a record 1,195 migrants in 19 small boats made ‘successful’ crossings on a single day, June 3rd. This followed another record total for 2025, making the last day of spring awkward for Keir Starmer’s Labour Party.

Google may be NPR and PBS’s partners in crime, but even the tech giant’s AI chatbot Gemini can’t run cover for the leftist outlets’ taxpayer-funded shell game.
On Friday, Gemini gave inconsistent information in response to MRC Free Speech America’s questions about how much taxpayer dollars, both federal and state, NPR receives. Is it one, four or 10 percent of NPR’s total budget? Gemini claimed it is all of the above. Apparently, NPR’s funding is a multiple-choice mystery.
“The amount NPR and PBS receive in taxpayer dollars is as closely guarded a secret as Google’s algorithm,” said MRC Free Speech America VP Dan Schneider. “That’s precisely why Google AI Gemini can’t say exactly how much the two leftist outlets receive in taxpayer dollars—because NPR and PBS won’t say.”
Gemini’s conflicting answer was unsurprising, since it nearly exclusively relied on none other than NPR as a source. NPR has never clearly broken down its total taxpayer funding, including money from federal and state governments and member stations, which receive taxpayer dollars through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

A former director of a Massachusetts migrant shelter is blowing the whistle on the disastrous situation wrought by the state’s sanctuary policies for illegal immigrants under Democrat Gov. Maura Healey, combined with the Biden administration’s open-border policies.
Jon Fetherston, who managed a hotel-turned-migrant shelter in Marlborough, Massachusetts, from November 2023 to July 2024, urged Attorney General Pam Bondi in a letter Monday to investigate Healey’s migrant shelter program, calling it “dangerous and corrupt,” Blaze News reported Tuesday. Fetherston added there is “a disturbing pattern of criminal activity, sexual assaults, financial abuse, and the widespread use of no-bid contracts.”
Fetherston shared the letter he wrote to Bondi on his X account. Among the most concerning failures he observed was rampant criminal activity within the shelters, which posed threats to residents and the nearby community.

Topline: An annex to California’s Capitol Building was supposed to cost $543 million, but the price has doubled to $1.1 billion and now includes hallways designed to hide lawmakers from journalists.
Tell the truth: Who could blame them?
Key facts: KCRA 3 reported that the annex will include a new parking garage and visitor’s center and office space for 120 state lawmakers. The news station pointed out it is almost as expensive as the $1.3 billion spent on Levi’s Stadium, the San Francisco 49ers’ football stadium that seats 68,500 people.
KCRA 3’s sources revealed the annex will include private hallways. The building’s current layout means lawmakers must walk through a public “swing space” to get from hearing rooms to the elevators, where journalists can ask them questions about the day’s proceedings. The new layout will allow lawmakers to avoid the swing space.

A Democratic state lawmaker in New York has proposed a cap on the number of cows that farms in the state are allowed to maintain.
Legislation sponsored by Brooklyn Democratic State Senator Jabari Brisport proposed the cap to be set at 699. The bill would require the state to block the expansion or creation of a farm reaching or exceeding 700 cows.
The New York Post reported that Brisport and several other Democratic lawmakers who have signed the legislation in support believe that large farming operations pose threats ranging from greenhouse gases to manure runoff getting into streams, lakes, and rivers.
The Democrat compulsion to regulate businesses to death will eventually destroy New York.

Wine and spirits distributor Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is leaving the California market.
RNDC cited increasing costs and changes among suppliers as one of the reasons it has decided to stop operating in the state.
“This decision follows years of increasing costs, industry headwinds, and supplier shifts that have made it difficult to operate sustainably in the state,” its leadership said in an emailed statement to its customers on June 4. “We are incredibly proud of our California team and all of their hard work over the years. Please know that our commitment to you during this transition remains unwavering.”

Members of Britain’s largest teaching union hosted an event where teachers were told that there is no legal definition for biological sex.
The claims were made at an online seminar held last month by the trans and non-binary network of National Education Union (NEU) members to advise non-trans “allies” how to support transgender rights.
The event, entitled “Solidarity in Practice: Building Sustainable and Effective Cisgender Allyship”, attracted more than 150 people including teachers and other trade union members.
British unions have embraced insanity.

How did Hamas do it on October 7? This time, I don’t mean to ask how they had so little humanity as to butcher over 1,200 innocents in Israel in a single day of horrors, the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Nor do I refer to the level of brainwashing or innate evil necessary to kill 370 young people at a dance party, to rape and genitally mutilate screaming women and girls, or to drag 250 hostages – including 12 Americans – back to Gaza. No, at present, I am speaking of practical and, ultimately, financial capability: how was Hamas able to afford the trucks, the motorcycles, the assault weapons and grenades, the paragliders and massive tunnel networks that enabled their terroristic invasion on that black day? To a large extent, the answer can be found at a single address: Qatar, the absolute monarchy on the Arabian peninsula that is the beating heart of modern terrorism financing.

Former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen to sign official presidential documents has been revealed to be far more widespread than originally suspected, according to new revelations by the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project.
Oversight Project lead investigator Kyle Brosnan said his team pulled official proclamations from the National Archives for the first two years of the Biden administration.
“There’s around several hundred of them — and through that analysis, we were able to determine that there was a third autopen signature that was used to sign those proclamations” as early as his first year in office in 2021, he said.
Brosnan’s team uncovered that there are now three unique signatures that the Biden administration used via the autopen to sign documents during the former president’s four years in the White House. The uniform and flawless nature of the signatures across hundreds of documents suggests a mechanical output leading the team to uncover a third, previously undiscovered, use of the device.
My, what a surprise. Aren’t you surprised? I’m sure surprised.

On Sunday during live coverage of the Los Angeles riots, local ABC affiliate KABC ran footage that did not match what the anchors were describing. Jory Rand went as far as to say the protestors were “having fun watching cars burn,” but would he feel that way if that was his car? Would this have been just another example of the liberal media distracting from the obvious facts?
Los Angeles took a beating earlier this year with the historic wildfires in January but has taken another pounding with the city’s breakout over ICE arrests and deportations. Again, the city and nation turn heads due to the lack of leadership and command to simply protect the people of Los Angeles, ranging from California Governor Gavin Newsom, down to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

ZMan reviews The Accountant 2:
In the first film, Affleck plays an autistic guy who was raised and trained by a military father to be a warrior, but his autism lets him be an accounting savant due to his extraordinary math skills. We first met him when he was hired to audit the books of a biotech company. We learn his backstory as the plot leads him from the audit to the action thriller portion of the story.
The sequel feels like it was made by first putting plot ideas into a hat and then drawing out a bunch of them. These were then given to separate teams of writers to create those sections of the plot. Then it was filmed separately and stitched together by whoever is tasked with editing. It also has far too many people, so it wastes a lot of time trying to explain why they are in the film.
It starts with the J. K. Simmons character from the first film in retirement, working on a mysterious case. He is meeting a female assassin at a bar when a group of assassins turn up to kill him. There is a big shootout with all the John Wick style fighting scenes, but it is unclear if the assassins are there for the female or for Simmons. They kill Simmons, which is the hook to bring in the rest of the cast.
The strong black female who was trained by Simmons in the first film is now being strong and black in his old job. Simmons had written the words “FIND THE ACCOUNTANT” on his arm during the shootout. She sees this at the morgue and then sets out to locate the accountant, Ben Affleck. The death of Simmons is the McGuffin to get the band together to solve the mystery of his death.
At this point the film starts taking detours to explore the characters. We learn that Affleck has been learning how to date. His brother is learning how to buy a pet, which makes no sense at the time. We learn that Affleck works with a secret army of autistic children who help him break into computer systems, identify people, and help him solve mysteries in real time. I did not make that up.
I would encourage you to join ZMan’s Substack, where he pulls no punches.
