campaigners warn that they have returned in all but name after a man who set fire to a copy of the Quran outside the Turkish consulate in London was convicted on Monday of a racially aggravated public order offence.
Hamit Coskun—a Turkish political refugee—shouted “f**k Islam” and “Islam is religion of terrorism” as he held the burning book aloft in February and, after being found guilty at Westminster Magistrates Court of the offence, was fined £240 (€285) with a statutory surcharge of £96 (€114).
Free speech campaigners have been especially critical of the Crown Prosecution Service’s initial charge, accusing Coskun of acting with “intent to cause against the religious institution of Islam harassment, alarm or distress”—as though Islam itself were a person.

Language tests conducted among elementary school children in the German state of Bavaria have produced shocking results, with one in three children unable to speak German well enough to attend classes.
The situation is especially dire in the city of Augsburg, where two-thirds of first-graders lack the necessary German language skills to understand what is being taught.
The problem also exists in the second and third grade, where many children are unable to read properly.
The tests are part of a new programme launched by the state, which makes it compulsory for all kindergarten children to be tested before they enroll in school.
Children found to lack the necessary language skills have to take part in German language lessons.
The results are part of a wider problem in Germany: the massive scale of immigration combined with a lack of integration has resulted in a growing number of children unable to follow classes.

With immigration laws once again being enforced, ICE agents have become prime targets of the left—harassed, doxed, and threatened simply for upholding the law.
At a recent press conference, Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons laid bare the growing danger his agents face—not from violent criminals, but from radical activists hell-bent on exposing and intimidating them into silence.
The tense exchange began when reporters questioned why some agents had been wearing masks during recent operations.

Give her credit: Chief executive Katherine Maher is not afraid to look ridiculous on her quest to save National Public Radio from the federal chopping block. On Thursday’s edition of the Wall Street Journal’s podcast, hosted by Ryan Knutson and Jessica Mendoza, Maher claimed “we are consistently found to be centrist in reporting….we are a nonpartisan news organization.”
Maher was on to talk about NPR filing a lawsuit, alongside three Colorado-based stations, challenging the Trump administration’s executive order to cut funding for NPR out of the federal budget.
First, Maher falsely labeled Trump’s executive order a violation of the First Amendment.
Katherine Maher: ….And what I mean by that is the executive order very clearly engages in what is called viewpoint discrimination, which is to say that the president has stated that NPR and PBS should not receive federal funding because he disagrees with our programming and our editorial choices, in terms of the story selection that we cover or the way that we cover the news….
But no outlet has a First Amendment right to the public treasury, and Mendoza quoted a Trump spokesperson saying such.

In a plot that reads like a Tom Clancy novel crossed with a dystopian agribusiness nightmare, two Chinese nationals, Yunqing Jian, 33, and Zunyong Liu, 34, have been slapped with federal charges for allegedly smuggling a biological ticking time bomb into the U.S.
The weapon? Fusarium graminearum, a fungus dubbed a “potential agroterrorism weapon” by scientific literature, capable of wreaking havoc on America’s wheat, barley, maize, and rice crops while poisoning humans and livestock with its toxic byproducts.
The stage? Detroit Metropolitan Airport, where Liu’s clumsy attempt to sneak the pathogen past Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers unraveled faster than a cheap yuan store sweater.

The world’s a screaming match—doctors, economists, influencers, all clawing for their slice of truth. Nobody’s listening, and nobody’s seeing the whole damn picture. We have more information than ever, but we’re dumber where it counts, stuck in a loop of shouting past each other. This isn’t just politics or algorithm nonsense; it’s the cult of specialization—our worship of experts who know everything about nothing. Doctors pushing Covid shots didn’t see the fraud. Economists missed the heist. Engineers built surveillance without blinking. Each turned their screw, blind to the machine they were feeding—a Moral Assembly Line where systemic evil thrives. The system’s not broken; it’s built to break us, and we’re all complicit until we start connecting the dots. As I explored in The Illusion of Expertise, we’ve confused credentials with wisdom, compliance with intelligence. Now we see the deadly consequences: we’re not failing because of bad experts—we’re failing because specialization itself has become the operating system of institutional evil.

The Trump administration sent its rescission package to Capitol Hill today, asking Congress to claw back $9.4 billion in approved spending, including $1.1 billion for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. A rescission occurs when a president proposes to cancel previously appropriated funds, but only with the approval of Congress. Essentially, it’s a way to undo a spending decision already made through the appropriations process.
Russ Vought, head of Trump’s Office of Management and Budget, told Will Cain on Fox this afternoon that “We have chosen what we think are the easiest [cuts]…some of the worst examples you can come up with.” In an official statement, Vought said “These funds would be used to subsidize a public media system that is politically biased and an unnecessary expense to the taxpayer.” House Republicans are promising to take it up next week.
While the evidence of “public” broadcasting tilt is overwhelming, the liberal broadcasters will rely on the vaguely positive sound of their mission to win over enough moderate Republicans to keep their money (as usual). Kate Riley, CEO of the lobbying group America’s Public Television Stations, stated: “We urge Congress to reject the destructive recissions of public broadcasting funding, respect the clear will of the American people and the long history of bipartisan support for our work, and continue the federal government’s investment in local public television stations’ essential missions of public safety, education and community connections.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the Navy to review the names of vessels honoring prominent civil rights leaders, including Harvey Milk, who was one of the country’s first openly gay elected officials and a Navy veteran.
News of Mr. Hegseth’s decision, reported earlier by Military.com, comes just days into Pride Month, which celebrates the contributions of luminaries in the L.G.B.T.Q. community.
Instead, Mr. Hegseth’s order was intended as a rebuke of Pride Month, keeping with the Trump administration’s drive to expunge diversity, equity and inclusion efforts across the federal government, according to a senior defense official familiar with the decision.
In principle I don’t have a problem with it. Harvy Milk’s only claim to fame is that he was the first homosexual politician in a significant office to own up to it; he never had any connection with the Navy or national defense, and the ship was named after him only to pander to the LBGTQRSTUVWXYZ+ crowd.
From a practical standpoint, I don’t like it. It sets a bad precedent when the government starts renaming ships after a change of administration. Where would it stop? It smacks of Stalin’s trick of erasing people from photographs. If a Republican administration starts doing this sort of thing, what’s to prevent a future Democrat administration from renaming the destroyer USS John McCain the USS Greta Thunberg? I don’t think that’s a road we want to start down.

In what The Sun newspaper called a ‘day of shame,’ the known number making ‘small boat’ crossing into Britain on a single day exceeded all previous records. Despite repeated promises to ‘smash the gangs,’ the official last day before the British summer begins saw 19 confirmed small boat arrivals bring 1,194 illegal migrants ashore.
This record day of migrant crossings puts the total 42% higher than where it stood in 2024, meaning crossings are at the highest rate with the largest total number of arrivals, predominantly young men, at any point since the crisis began in 2019. At one point the number of migrant vessels in the English Channel overwhelmed marine rescue services, who in turn called on local fishing boats for help.
While French police were again criticised for allowing the small boats to enter French shallow coastal waters and commence their dangerous voyages, the Labour government of Keir Starmer is under increasing pressure to find a solution.

The demand for O–negative blood — the universal donor type — often exceeds supply and donations have a limited shelf life. Looking to address the issue are a group of Japanese scientists led by Hiromi Sakai at Nara Medical University. They’ve developed a new type of artificial blood that can be used in patients of any blood type.
The artificial blood is created by extracting hemoglobin — a protein containing iron that facilitates the transportation of oxygen in red blood cells — from expired donor blood. It is then encased in a protective shell to create stable, virus-free artificial red blood cells. As these artificial cells have no blood type, there is no need for compatibility testing. The synthetic blood can reportedly be stored for up to two years at room temperature and five years under refrigeration. That is a significant improvement over donated red blood cells, which can only be stored under refrigeration for a maximum of 42 days.

In February, President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning transgender athletes (men pretending to be women) from participation in publicly funded women’s sporting events. “We will not allow men to beat up, injure and cheat our women and our girls. From now on, women’s sports will be only for women,” Trump said at the signing ceremony, standing at a podium flanked by female athletes. “With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over.”
The shift in public sentiment by the end of 2024 was palpable. The western world was being force fed a steady diet of trans propaganda that bordered on worship. The public could not go anywhere without being inundated with LGBT flags and imagery. For a minority that represents less than 1% of the global population, the level of funding and political power behind them has been astonishing.
The proclamation that trans people were a special and privileged class and their feelings had to be protected at all costs was simply too much. The campaigns to control American speech, indoctrinate American children in public schools and insert men into women’s spaces inspired widespread anger.

A month after the Trump administration began investigating the Harvard Law Review over allegations of race discrimination, the journal published a “factsheet” purporting to set the record straight.
Referencing “recent news reports” that led to the investigation, the factsheet, published May 27, claimed that the Washington Free Beacon had “mischaracterized” the admissions process for student editors, half of whom are selected by a “holistic review committee” that in 2021 made the inclusion of “underrepresented groups” its “first priority.”
That language came from a so-called transition resolution passed by journal editors. The factsheet claimed that such resolutions are “not binding” and proceeded to quote from what it claimed were the current guidelines for editor selection, noting that they “closely follow” the guidance set forth in the Supreme Court’s decision banning affirmative action.

China is cranking out high end warships at an impressive rate … at least compared to our anemic shipbuilding effort. That means they’re cranking out serious, high level firepower in various forms. We, on the other hand, seem hell bent on ditching our high end firepower in favor of ever less lethal unmanned toys. The latest idea I came across is Naval News website speculating about cancelling the Constellation program and replacing it with small, unmanned vessels
With a price tag approaching $1.1 billion to $1.2 billion dollars each for the USS Constellation (FFG-62) frigate, Naval News asked RAND and CSIS if the Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV) and the DARPA No Manning Required Ship (NOMARS) can replace the troubled FFG-62 frigate program.
… can MUSVs and NOMARS substitute for the FFG-62 frigates in terms of missions, roles, weapons coverage, and functionalities?[1]
As repeatedly documented on this blog, the Constellation is a poor excuse for a WARship but it is still worlds better than any unmanned asset.

Amaru’s group was holding its weekly walk for the hostages in Boulder just after 1 p.m., when a man started hurling Molotov cocktails into the crowd — injuring eight victims between 52 and 88 years old. At least one was left in critical condition with serious burn wounds.

In October, Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, announced that from April 2026 inherited agricultural assets worth more than £1 million would be liable to inheritance tax at 20 per cent — half the usual rate.
The changes, according to FBUK, could result in the loss of 208,000 jobs. Parts of Cornwall and Aberdeenshire are expected to be the worst affected, alongside Yorkshire, northern and eastern England, the Midlands and Northern Ireland. The industries expected to bear the brunt of the changes are construction, manufacturing, accommodation, hospitality and the motor industry, as well as agriculture and horticulture.

The mothers — like hundreds of others at the beach — did not board but said that they would try again next week. The French maritime prefecture said it had rescued another 184 migrants at sea on the same day and returned them to France.
Feminist ‘journalism’ – start with a tear-jerking anecdote and then try to make it serve as data to support the partisan point you intended to push all along.
On Saturday 1,200 migrants crossed from France in small boats — the most recorded making the trip in a single day this year.
This is what uncontrolled immigration looks like. This is what Democrats want to inflict on the U.S.

Russia is using a new Chinese laser system to shoot down Ukrainian drones, according to pro-Russian Telegram channels. The system seen in a video posted to Telegram on Thursday appears to be at least extremely similar to a system Beijing has apparently already provided to Iran, which you can read more about here.
The video, posted on the Military Information Telegram channel, opens with scenes of troops inside a vehicle, flicking switches and looking at heavily pixelated screens. The next scene shows the system rising out of the vehicle and then being rotated by a soldier in the vehicle using a joystick. It then cuts to small fiery holes being burned into a metal plate. A subsequent view shows the plate with four holes burned through it, apparently created by the laser.

The FBI is investigating an attack in Boulder, Colorado, Sunday after a suspect reportedly threw at least one incendiary device at a crowd of people who expressed solidarity with the Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
“We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado,” FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X Sunday. “Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.”
Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn confirmed that an assailant appeared to set people on fire at around 1:26 p.m. mountain time. He declined to identify it as a terror attack, however.

Victor Davis Hanson.
More recently, when Cyril Ramaphosa came to the White House, the president of South Africa, did you see the word “ambush”? It was in every mainstream paper, every left-wing website, every radio—NPR, PBS, CBS, MSNBC. It’s like the Democratic operatives issue a Pravda-like order and then these mindless people just say, “Okay, today’s talking points are…”

In a rare but resounding act of judicial sanity, the Supreme Court of the United States has delivered an 8-0 ruling that reins in one of the most abused weapons in the bureaucratic arsenal: environmental obstructionism. The case, Seven County Infrastructure Coalition v. Eagle County, stemmed from a challenge to a planned railway in Utah, a project that environmentalists attempted to kneecap through endless litigation under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). In a time when green tape has been weaponized to stall or cancel everything from pipelines to housing, this decision marks a turning point—and it’s worth celebrating.

Five years after the death of George Floyd, the political Left is increasingly embracing violence as legitimate action, aided and abetted by soft-on-crime forces funded by billionaire George Soros.
Floyd’s death sparked numerous deaths and other violence, including massive property damage to predominantly black neighborhoods and businesses. The Minneapolis–Saint Paul riots alone saw two people killed, 604 people arrested, and up to $2 billion in property damage.
Five years later, and we’re already seeing signs of another “Summer of Love.”
Well, after all, it’s Trump’s fault for being Hitler.

International Man.
France just announced new tax hikes. Italy is raising capital gain taxes from 26% to 42%. The UK got rid of their “non-dom” rules essentially destroying tax incentives, and across the rest of Europe it’s plain wealth taxes.
Norway showed us how this will transpire. The muppets in power there raised wealth taxes to bring an additional $146 million in yearly tax revenue. Instead, individuals worth $54 billion left the country, leading to a loss of $594 million in yearly wealth tax revenue. A net decrease of $448 million.
Spain just recorded 1,000 fewer high-net-worth taxpayers. It was the first negative millionaire migration for the country since they imposed a wealth tax.
Thousands of millionaires are leaving while (coincidentally) tax pressure is at all-time highs.
Democracy is a joke. Who for example voted for higher taxes? Nobody of course, but the peasants will get them anyway.
In the UK, it’s the same story. Millionaires and billionaires are escaping as fast as they can.

Harvard might be a mere pipe dream for most American college-hunting brainiacs, but for “so many Chinese communist officials” it rates as their top “party school,” The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.
Not only has Chinese President Xi Jinping’s own daughter been a student at Harvard, but a former vice president and Xi’s top negotiator with the first Trump administration studied there as leaders in China see Harvard education as a path to Chinese Communist Party positions.
And it is not a new thing.
The Crust takes care of its own … and their children.
