The Purely Progressive Pulitzer Prize Parade

7th May 2025

Tim Graham.

The latest announcement of the Pulitzer Prizes brought great anticipation – not about who would win awards, but about what topics would be honored. Once again, the awards were dominated by the leftist brands – The New York Times and The New Yorker. Pulitzer Prize juries tend to hand out awards based on which causes they want to honor, and who they feel needs to be exposed.

In Donald Trump’s first term, four Pulitzer Prizes for reporting were handed out for investigating Trump, most notably for the phantom menace of Russian collusion in the 2016 campaign. As that conspiracy theory collapsed, Trump caused the Pulitzer bureaucrats to revisit this misinformation, but they resolved that since the awarded newspapers were merely channeling the anti-Trump lawyers and their findings, it was somehow not misinformation. It was publicity. The Pulitzer Publicity Prize.

In the previous eight years, there was not a single reporting prize for exposing anything about President Obama or his administration’s actions.

The 2025 Pulitzer announcement underlined that there was not a single reporting prize over the last four years for exposing anything about President Biden or his administration’s actions.

Fani Willis Said Her Whistleblower Posed a Violent Threat to Her Office. Audio Recordings Tell a Different Story.

7th May 2025

Read it.

A big problem arrived in Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis’s email inbox on the afternoon of Nov. 16, 2021.

It was a legal notice from an attorney representing Amanda Timpson, a former member of Willis’s executive staff who had been blowing the whistle on the district attorney’s office for allegedly trying to mishandle federal grant funds. Willis, the eight-page letter stated, had violated a slew of whistleblower protection laws when she reassigned Timpson to serve as a glorified file clerk following a brief meeting in July 2021 in which the district attorney refused to hear Timpson’s allegations. Timpson believed she had grounds for a lawsuit against Willis, but was willing to drop the matter in return for a modest severance package and a positive letter of recommendation from the district attorney.

Willis had other ideas.

Israeli Hostages’ Lawsuit Against News Outlet That Paid Hamas Terrorist Will Head to Trial, Judge Rules

7th May 2025

Read it.

Three former hostages sued the Washington-based Palestine Chronicle last year, alleging that the media organization knowingly paid their Hamas-operative captor, Abdallah Aljamal, who simultaneously worked as a Gaza correspondent for the nonprofit news site.

Hamas kidnapped Almog Meir Jan, Shlomi Ziv, and Andrey Kozlov during its attack on the Nova Music Festival on October 7, 2023. The Israel Defense Forces ultimately rescued them from Aljamal’s home eight months later.

Palestine Chronicle leadership has claimed there is no evidence its staff was aware of Aljamal’s involvement in the kidnapping and argued that its payments to the Hamas operative had no impact on the hostages.

But Judge Tiffany M. Cartwright said the news outlet’s arguments were “unpersuasive,” and ruled that the plaintiffs’ case is strong enough to move to the trial and discovery process.

6 Genetic Myths Still Taught in Schools (That Science Says Are Wrong)

7th May 2025

Read it.

In biology classrooms across the world, students learn to roll their tongues. It’s almost a rite of passage, often folded into a lesson about Mendelian genetics. It’s supposed to be a simple demonstration: if you can curl your tongue into a tube, you probably have the “tongue-rolling gene.” If you can’t, you don’t. Blame your parents.

But what if that lesson is wrong? What if many other genetic myths are simply wrong as well (or at least misleading)? Simon Fisher, a geneticist at the Max Planck Institute, Nijmegen, recently pointed out just how persistent (and pervasive) some of these myths are. Let’s go through some of them.

Of course, ‘science’ can be just as wrong about these ‘myths’ as it often does about everything else. Whenever somebody says ‘science says’, feel free to not believe it without a lot of further proof.

Pakistan Says 26 Killed in Indian Strikes as Tensions Rise After Kashmir Massacre

7th May 2025

Associated Press, a Voice of the Crust.

India fired missiles into Pakistani-controlled territory in several locations early Wednesday, killing at least 26 people including a child, in what Pakistan’s leader called an act of war.

India said it struck infrastructure used by militants linked to last month’s massacre of tourists in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir.

Pakistan claimed it shot down several Indian fighter jets in retaliation as two planes fell onto villages in India-controlled Kashmir. At least seven civilians were also killed in the region by Pakistani shelling, Indian police and medics said.

Tensions have soared between the nuclear-armed neighbors since the attack, which India has blamed Pakistan for backing. Islamabad has denied the accusation.

Notice that if you swapped ‘India’ and ‘Pakistan’ in the story, it makes no sense. That’s because there are no ‘Hindu militants’ staging terrorist attacks in Pakistan. And that, in turn, says something about the difference between India and Pakistan. What might that difference be? Well, think about it; I’m sure you can figure it out.

Sex Differences in the Brain and the Mind

6th May 2025

Quillette.

Sex differences in many aspects of behavior and cognition are now well-established. These include women’s more communal (formation of intimate relationships) and men’s more agentic (goal achievement) approach to life, as well as men’s advantage in spatial abilities and women’s advantage in memory for personal experiences (episodic memory). Current debates focus on their origin and range from evolved biases to adherence to socially imposed gender roles.

Sex differences in brain organization and functions are the last frontier in this line of research, and their study is shaping up to be a ruckus. The results will eventually resolve the issue of the relative contributions of biological and cultural influences on sex differences. The associated scientific and social policy stakes are high and far-reaching. Minimal sex differences in brain organization and functions would help to affirm the importance of socially imposed gender roles and support the use of policy interventions to reduce sex differences in important social outcomes. Substantive biological contributions, on the other hand, would raise consequential questions about the wisdom of such interventions.

School Board Can’t Remove Sexually Explicit Books From Libraries Because the Board Is Conservative, Lesbian Judge Rules

6th May 2025

Read it.

A school board in Colorado cannot remove sexually explicit, profane, and “transgender” books from school libraries because the school board is conservative, according to a federal judge touted as the first openly lesbian judge west of the Mississippi.

The ACLU’s Colorado chapter filed a suit on behalf of two minors, the NAACP Wyoming State Area Conference, and the Authors Guild, claiming that the school district engaged in viewpoint discrimination when removing the books. The judge granted a preliminary injunction in March, forcing the Elizabeth School District (in Elizabeth, a suburb southeast of Denver) to restore the books.

Judge Charlotte Sweeney second-guessed the school district’s objections to the books’ contents, calling the objections “pretexual” and condemning the removals as partisan because school board members had discussed following their conservative convictions when debating the removal of the books.

IDF Destroys Airport Used for Weapons Shipments in Devastating Strike on Houthis

6th May 2025

Read it.

Israel “completely destroyed” Yemen’s Sanaa International Airport on Tuesday, delivering a crippling blow to the Iran-backed Houthis who had used the facility to transport weapons and terrorist fighters across the Middle East.

Shortly after the strike, President Donald Trump announced that U.S. military operations against the Houthis will cease after the terror group purportedly agreed to stop their attacks on international shipping lanes and American assets.

Israel’s surprise operation—the largest to date against the Houthis—came in response to a series of missile and drone strikes on the Jewish state, including a Sunday salvo that struck the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, wounding several people. In response, Israel “completely disabled” the Sanaa airport and destroyed a slew of nearby power stations the Houthis were using to build out their military infrastructure. Photos posted earlier on Tuesday showed plumes of thick smoke rising from the airport and nearby areas.

Activist Who Called Germans “Trash” Given German Citizenship

6th May 2025

Read it.

Pakistan-born Ayesha Khan, known for her far-left militancy and openly hostile statements towards Germany and its people, has been naturalized as a German citizen in an official ceremony held at St. Paul’s Church in Frankfurt. Khan, 27, obtained citizenship alongside around 800 other people in a process that has sparked intense public debate.

Khan, who arrived in Germany in 2016, has used the social media platform X under the pseudonym Migrantifa, from which she spreads provocative messages and co-hosts the podcast “[un]deutsch” with Dîlan Karacadag. The show addresses social and political issues from a migrant perspective, often challenging the foundations of traditional German identity.

Khan has drawn attention for a series of posts considered openly anti-German. Among them are messages such as: “You know those people who say ‘if God exists, why is there war?’ I ask: if God exists, why do Germans exist?”, “Fortunately, Frankfurt will soon be completely de-Germanized,” and “Almans [Turkish slang for Germans] are trash.”

Understanding the Blob

6th May 2025

ZMan does a deep dive.

The term “deep state” remains a popular way for newly awakened normies to think of how their government operates. It is not the people on the ballot at election time who are running things, but a shadowy cabal of people who operate outside the bounds of the political system. Whenever something goes wrong, they naturally assume it is the work of the deep state. The problem is that the deep state, as most people imagine it, does not exist. It is a useful fiction.

The dismantling of USAID is a good example. The reporting on it in the unofficial media made it seem as if this entity was controlling large swaths of the government, when in fact it was just a money laundering scheme. Instead of cleaning cash acquired through illegal means, it put government cash in the hands of media activists, lobbyists, not-for-profits, and policy shops tied to permanent Washington. It was a clearing house and networking hub for permanent Washington.

In a way, the economy of permanent Washington is something like the economies of ancient city states. Those city states operated what is called palace economies where agricultural products flowed into the palace of the ruler and were then distributed back to the populace as needed. Farmers, craftsmen, and traders maintained their own economy, but a substantial portion of their economic output flowed into the palace to be redistributed as the ruler saw fit.

Court Documents Claim Student Who Led Pro-Palestine Protests Admitted to Building Guns to ‘Kill Jews’

6th May 2025

Read it.

Court documents claim that a leader of pro-Palestine protests at Columbia University once told a gun shop owner he had built guns to “kill Jews.”

Immigration officials arrested Mohsen Mahdawi in April as the Trump administration continues to crackdown on antisemitism and terrorist sympathizers who can be seen as a threat to U.S. national security.

On Tuesday, Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, shared a photo of court filings that claim in 2015, Mahdawi spoke with a gun shop owner in Vermont and offered to work at the shop without monetary compensation.

“According to the report,” the court filing reads, “petitioner ‘supposedly told’ the gun shop owner ‘that he had considerable firearm experience and used to build modified 9mm submachine guns to kill Jews while he was in Palestine.’”

(None Dare Call It) Treason of the Judiciary

6th May 2025

The Foundry.

Thursday, April 24, was a day like any other day—the sun came up, the sun went down, and President Donald Trump was hit with at least three nationwide injunctions by federal district court judges.

That’s just the way it goes if you are a president who wants to take back America from the entrenched left-wing bureaucracy and restore common sense to government before it is too late.

The danger of the bureaucracy was predicted by Julien Benda in his 1927 book “The Treason of the Clerks,” which warned of the danger of the intellectual class adopting political passions that had previously been the sole domain of the masses. We see this most distinctly today in the federal bureaucracy, which I dare say has the greatest concentration of degree-holders from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia (and the like) of any sector in the nation, other than the incestuous universities themselves.

The treason that Benda described was the loss of independence of thought and dispassionate reason by intellectuals, and the accompanying subservience of intellect to political passions.

Gamergate Wins: Leftist Video Game Journalists Face Buyouts and Mass Layoffs

6th May 2025

Read it,

Get Woke, go broke.

Beyond those conservatives and libertarians in the alternative media that were warning about the invasion of woke ideology for many years, the very first group of “normies” to recognize the progressive threat to their subculture was gamers. And, to their credit, they brought attention to the issue in a more effective way than the alternative media ever did.

The conservative sphere has always dismissed video games, movies, and the hobby game world as “stuff for kids” and this was a fatal error. Instead of standing guard and keeping leftists away from the kids, the cultural Marxists were allowed to run rampant throughout the media industry. They effectively blitzed the space and within a five year period they took over almost everything the west sees and hears from movies to games to comics and commercials.

They did have extensive help, though. Through ESG programs, government agencies,NGOs and international conglomerates used vast amounts of cash to manipulate every aspect of media and incentivize the spread of woke ideology. The meaning of ESG (Economic, Social, Governance) is meaningless and doesn’t explain at all what it actually does. At bottom, ESG was about progressive dominance of the cultural conversation.

Their strategy was to saturate media with leftist talking point to create the perception of false consensus. To make the majority of people believe that most people are in support of far-left politics, and that there’s something wrong with you if you’re not also onboard. Even some feminists called out the campaign as malicious.

Backlash Grows After UK Minister Dismisses Grooming Gangs as ‘Dog Whistle’

6th May 2025

Read it.

Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell looks set to keep her job after dismissing Britain’s overwhelmingly Pakistani-heritage rape gangs as a ‘dog whistle’ issue being used to create division in British society.

Powell’s place in the cabinet looks safe, for now, and rising Labour star, health secretary Wes Streeting, took to the news studios on Sunday, May 4th, saying the right honourable member’s apology is sincere and, basically, ‘we’ve all made mistakes.’

To err is human, but the actions of these gangs are inhuman. One notorious case can be seen in a court transcript from 2013, in which the judge presiding read out the specific harms inflicted on the same girl by her controlling ‘groomer’ (so-called when an adult male initially approaches a 12-year-old with a view to becoming her ‘boyfriend’).

Remember: If you hear the ‘dog whistle’, then you’re the dog.

Pro-Palestine Activists Disrupt Dutch Liberation Day Observance

5th May 2025

Read it.

Pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted the National Liberation Day ceremony in the Dutch city of Wageningen on Sunday, May 4th, interrupting a speech by Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans. According to police, five people were arrested after breaching security barriers during the incident.

The protesters disrupted the annual event—held to commemorate the end of Nazi occupation in the Netherlands in 1945—by chanting “Free Palestine” and other pro-Palestinian slogans as the minister addressed the crowd.

The Liberation Day event in Wageningen is a significant moment in the Dutch national calendar, marking the restoration of freedom in 1945 and honoring those who fought for it.

Their lives are shit, so they have to turn everyone else’s life to shit as well.  Just dogs looking for a manger.

Silenced for Your Safety: Wokeism Study Shakes French Academia

Despite attempts by the progressive Left to prevent its publication, a research book on the influence of wokeism on French universities has finally been published by Presses Universitaires de France. It has been enthusiastically received by critics while embarrassing the progressive intelligentsia.

The book, commissioned by the prestigious publishing house Presses Universitaires de France, was due to be released in early April but was met with a smear campaign orchestrated by a handful of left-wing intellectuals who attempted to prevent its publication on the grounds that it promoted “Trumpist” and “pro-Putin” clichés.

The manoeuvre delayed its release, but did not prevent it: the collective work by professors Pierre Vermeren, Emmanuelle Hénin, and Xavier-Laurent Salvador finally hit bookshops on Wednesday, April 30th. On the day of its official release, the premises of the Presses Universitaires de France were vandalised in protest—proof that the danger denounced by the authors, namely the presence of a woke ideology in the university that does not tolerate dissent, is not a figment of the imagination but a reality.

5th May 2025

Power Line.

Democrats have sought to block the Trump administration from carrying out its policies by bringing lawsuits before Democratic Party judges, in which the administration’s actions are challenged on various grounds. The Democratic Party’s District Court judges then issue sweeping orders enjoining the government’s actions, sometimes without even hearing from the administration’s lawyers. We have never seen anything like this in our history.

Yesterday the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals issued an order in several related cases involving the United States Agency for Global Media, which, among other things, oversees Voice of America. The cases were brought by employees who are being laid off, and entities that had contracts with agencies controlled by USAGM:

On March 14, 2025, the President issued Executive Order 14238, which directed USAGM leadership to reduce the agency to the minimum level of operations required by statute. 90 Fed. Reg. 13043. In response, USAGM placed over 1,000 employees on administrative leave, terminated nearly 600 personal-service contractors, and terminated [Radio Free Asia’s and Middle East Broadcasting Networks’] grant agreements for the 2025 fiscal year.

The district judge entered an order blocking the administration’s actions; yesterday the Court of Appeals stayed that order.

Shelley v. Kramer v. Brown v. You

5th May 2025

ZMan gets out the shovel.

The story of Shiloh Hendrix has brought to the surface things that have been bubbling under the surface for some time. The most obvious is the general fatigue with regards to race among white people. The media is doing the usual point and shriek, expecting the lynch mob to chase after this woman, but instead money is flowing into her fundraising account with messages of support. The white population is using this event to make a point about race in America.

For most white people, this is not a moral issue. It is a practical issue. They wonder why we have Somalis in Minnesota. No one campaigned on bringing tribes of Somalis into the country and dumping them into white communities. No one was organizing pressure groups demanding the importation of Somalis. The people who made this decision never mentioned it to the public and the public was never consulted. Suddenly, we have this new problem, and we are expected to adjust to it.

Even putting aside the immigration issue, why are white people expected to adjust to black behavior at all? The core assumption of our racialized society is that it is the duty of whites to adjust to the other races. No one ever demands that the other races try to act white, as saying such a thing has been declared immoral. On the one hand whites are expected to venerate nonwhites, while on the other hand nonwhite are encouraged to harass and assault whites.

Michigan AG Dana Nessel Drops All Charges Against U-M Pro-Palestinian Diag Protesters

5th May 2025

Read it.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has dropped all charges against seven pro-Palestinian protesters arrested last year on the University of Michigan Diag.

The seven were facing misdemeanor charges of trespassing as well as felony charges of resisting and obstructing police. The defendants in the cases were: Oliver Kozler, Samantha Lewis, Henry MacKeen-Shapiro, Michael Mueller, Asad Siddiqui, Avi Tachna-Fram and Rhiannon Willow. All seven had pleaded not guilty.

The group hugged each other, smiled and posed for a group photo with their attorneys in the courtroom after learning the news.

“I told you, it’s a great day,” Lewis said to the others, when their lawyers entered the courtroom from a meeting in the judge’s chambers.

Study: Asylum Seekers Primarily Responsible for Large Spike in Homelessness

5th May 2025

Read it.

My, what a surprise.

Between 2022 and 2024, the U.S. saw a record 43% rise in “sheltered homelessness”—staying in some sort of emergency shelter, as opposed to living on the street. That is shocking enough on its own, but according to a new study, a contemporaneous spike in asylum seekers accounted for a stunning 60% of that increase.

“Asylum seekers”—as referenced in the study—are all recent immigrants seeking residence in the U.S., regardless of their legal status.

Unsheltered homelessness has been on the rise since 2015, but sheltered homelessness had declined by 12% from 2007 to 2022 before its sudden 43% spike between 2022 and 2024.

An Exhibit Honoring Victims of Gun Violence Is Taken Down at ATF Headquarters

5th May 2025

NPR, the Voice of the Deep State.

Note, not ‘the victims of criminals who used guns’ but ‘the victims of gun violence’, as if ‘gun violence’ were like the weather, something that just happens, like floods or tornadoes or locusts or something. ‘Dang, that gun just jumped up out of the chair and shot that guy!’

This is done in order to keep the focus away from the Bad Guys who are responsible for said victims and to keep the focus firmly on the tools used, firearms.

And this is done so that they can drum up support for controlling (or, preferably banning) firearms, rather than trying to do something about the criminals, who are the actual problem. ATF is, and has always been, at the bleeding edge of this attitude.

From One Fake Left-wing Hysteria to the Next

5th May 2025

Victor Davis Hanson.

The decade-old age of fables like Russian collusion, laptop disinformation, or the pangolin/bat cause of COVID is not over; it is just hitting midstream.

For much of April, amid stock downturns, in the classical paranoid style, we were assured by the Wall Street Journal news reporters and the liberal press that Trump had either a) guaranteed an inevitable recession, b) engineered a losing trade war he likely regretted, c) crashed the stock market, d) lost his once majority favorability ratings, e) mostly had a failed first 100 days, or f) all of the above.

Some of us thought these diagnoses and prognoses were absurd. How in mediis rebus, during a radical counterrevolution never quite seen before, could anyone issue such bleak predictions? Would these same observers have said the U.S. was doomed to lose World War II after the bleak first five months of mostly failure in the Pacific, or North Africa, after the utter U.S. army disaster at the Kasserine Pass?

De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum

5th May 2025

Nothing is more predictable in ‘journalistic’ coverage of a person who has died, deservedly or not, than encomia from all of his or her Friends and Relations about what a really wonderful person the dead one was and how much he or she will be missed; in cases where the person was younger than Senior Citizen, this flattery will be chock full of descriptions of how the dead one was ‘immensely talented’ and ‘beloved by all’ and ‘had so much potential that is now sadly wasted. This is especially true of Aspiring Rappers who by some odd quirk of fate fall afoul of police (however could that happen?) and receive a lead exit ticket.

Once–just once–I’d like to read about such a situation where people said ‘Well, nobody really liked him’ or ‘Actually, he was pretty much a dick.’

Just once. That’s all I ask.

Black Leftist Moves To Africa And Discovers America Isn’t So Bad After All

5th May 2025

Read it.

Millions of Americans, including those among the lowest income brackets, truly have no idea how good life is for them. The grass is always greener somewhere else in the world until people actually take the plunge and move to the neighbor’s house only to discover it’s crack den.

The self hatred that progressives feel over being American and living in the US is a first-world luxury that few others can afford. Most of humanity doesn’t have time to dwell obsessively on their nation’s global image; they are too busy barely surviving. The argument often regurgitated by over-privileged activists on Reddit forums and in college classrooms is that American “exceptionalism” is problematic because there’s nothing exceptional about America.

This claim is debunked by the fact that most of the rest of the world wants to come to the US and very few people want to leave. Those that do leave are usually among the wealthiest, or, they are gullible and think they can find something better overseas. It usually doesn’t go well for them.

One black leftist recently figured this out after moving to Africa. She assumed she would fit right in, but now says she actually prefers dealing with American “racism” over the scammers, grifters and of course, the lack of snacks. Her complaints have gone viral because they expose the common leftist delusion that the US is somehow one of the worst places on Earth. They simply don’t understand how lucky they are until they step outside of their echo chamber.

Columbia Med Students Condemn University After Classmate Who Stormed Library Returns to Campus

5th May 2025

Read it.

Columbia University medical students accused the Ivy League school of pushing a double standard after a classmate who was suspended following her arrest for storming a Barnard College building returned to campus. The student, Gabrielle Wimer, appears to be on course to graduate later this month.

Wimer was one of the four anti-Israel Columbia students arrested for storming Barnard’s Milstein Library in March. The Ivy League university promptly suspended the quartet and restricted them from campus, though officials didn’t say how long the punishments would last. “Any violations of our rules, policies, and of the law must have consequences,” a Columbia spokeswoman told the Washington Free Beacon at the time.

But several sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity told the Free Beacon they’ve seen Wimer attending “Ready 4 Residency Course,” a month-long required class Columbia medical students must pass in March or April of their final year in order to graduate. Others confirmed that they’ve seen her on campus or entering the room where the class is held.

Those witnesses offered sharp criticism of Columbia. One accused the university of “a troubling double standard.”

How Many Biden Appointees ‘Burrowed in’ to the Permanent Bureaucracy?

5th May 2025

Jerking back the curtain.

One favorite Democrat trick is to start with someone who is a political appointee and then figure out some way to convert him to a civil service position, thus entrenching proglodyte views in the permanent bureaucracy. Thus is the Deep State born and strengthened.

Left-leaning federal bureaucrats aim to oppose President Donald Trump from within the administrative state, and some Biden administration appointees have attempted to “burrow in” to the federal bureaucracy by switching from “political” to more permanent “career” positions.

While presidents appoint more than 3,000 people for political positions, the federal government directly employs roughly 2.3 million people, most of whom serve in ostensibly nonpolitical, career positions.

“The biggest challenge that every single new Cabinet secretary and their subordinates will face is the entrenched bureaucrat,” Stewart Whitson, senior director of federal affairs at the Foundation for Government Accountability, told The Daily Signal in an interview Wednesday.

“Some of it is overt, and we saw an example of that with the FBI employee trying to coerce his subordinates to ‘dig in’ against the administration,” he noted, referencing an email FBI agent James Dennehy wrote in January shortly before his retirement.

“What’s worse is the quiet insubordination,” Whitson warned. He said many bureaucrats will “slow policy,” simply ignoring the president’s orders.

The World Is Finally Seeing How Dangerous Bukele Really Is

5th May 2025

The New York Times, a Voice of the Crust.

This is just a straight up ideological partisan hit-piece. First three paragraphs:

In May 2020, during the height of Covid, El Salvador was under a military-enforced lockdown. At a news conference, I asked President Nayib Bukele a straightforward question about meeting with the business community about reopening the economy. Mr. Bukele bristled and criticized the founder of El Faro, the news outlet where I work.

Afterward, I received death threats from Mr. Bukele’s supporters. One that still stands out was written on Twitter by someone outside the country: “I want to go back to El Salvador so badly and shoot you 3 times in the head so you stop being a fool.”

The reaction was typical of a certain strain of Mr. Bukele’s followers, who treat criticism of the president as an unforgivable sin. After six years, he is still wildly popular, with a national approval rating of over 80 percent. Much of the diaspora is devoted to him as well. While the idealized version of him — an efficient, eloquent leader who has reduced crime in the country and is committed to fighting corruption — sounds great, the reality is that he is a mercurial and unrestrained politician who controls every institution at the expense of the country’s democracy.

‘A military-enforced lockdown’. That’s what every proglodyte statist was pushing for, even in the U.S. But, of course, Bukele was a Heretic and a Sinner, so down with him!

“Mr. Bukele bristled and criticized the founder of El Faro, the news outlet where I work.” How does this differ from the behavior of, oh, way, the New York Times? Or any Democrat politician anywhere?

“Afterward I received death threats from Mr. Bukele’s supporters.” Welcome to our world. What Republican hasn’t received death threats from Biden and Obama supporters?

“The reaction was typical of a certain strain of Mr. Bukele’s followers, who treat criticism of the president as an unforgivable sin.” Sounds like every Narrative Media outlet in support of every Democrat politician ever.

“After six years, he is still wildly popular, with national approval rating of over 80 percent.” Sounds like democracy to me. But I guess it has to be the right kind of democracy to suit the author.

The last sentence is just a smear job–sure, he’s eloquent and efficient and has reduced crime and wants to fight corruption, but really he’s a swine (an assertion for which neither evidence nor argument is presented). This isn’t journalism. The NYT ought to be ashamed to have published it.

Trump’s 100 Days and the Legal War in Washington

4th May 2025

The Foundry.

During his first 100 days in office, President Donald Trump acted with unprecedented speed to make major changes in government policies and root out the pervasive waste, fraud, and diversity, equity, and inclusion poisoning our government and its programs. Still, he was hampered by a handful of biased judges who abused their authority to keep him from implementing the policies the American people voted for.

Jurisdiction is limited to the federal districts where the hundreds of district court judges reside. However, some of these judges arrogantly assert that they can override the president in areas of core executive branch competency and issue sweeping injunctions that affect the entire nation. They even claim they can act on behalf of people who aren’t parties in the cases before them.

These judicial tyrants seem to believe that the Constitution gives them more power than the president to make decisions on the size of the federal government, how it spends its money, and whom it can hire and fire. They say they have a right to overrule the president’s national security judgment on issues that affect our relations with foreign governments, our military readiness, and the safety of the public from unchecked illegal immigration.

British police have arrested eight men as part of two separate counterterrorism investigations.

Five men, four of whom are Iranian nationals, were arrested in London, Swindon and Greater Manchester on Saturday as part of an investigation into a plot to “target specific premises,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement early Sunday.

The site targeted by the plot, which was not named for “operational reasons,” has been made aware and is being supported by police, the Met added.
