Demystifying Critical Race Theory

20th February 2025

Quillette.

Critical Race Theory (CRT) originated in higher education, but its political relevance has become more than academic, especially in the United States. Although CRT sprung from legal scholarship, proponents have pushed for its wholescale integration into education, medical training, psychology, and the social sciences as a whole.

CRT has also been the subject of intense political controversy. Many US states have introduced bills to restrict its teaching, sometimes on the grounds that it is not “factual and objective” or that it can “distort historical events.” As a result, both proponents and opponents have a vested interest in defining CRT in whatever way supports their agendas.

Indeed, several media outlets and organisations have published simplified explainers framing CRT either positively or negatively. These conflicting accounts make it hard to tell what critical race theory is—let alone formulate coherent opinions about CRT-related policy.

I’ve always thought that Critical Race Theory was ‘proglodytes criticizing white people as racists no matter what they do’, which seemed to fit all the relevant behaviors. Occam’s Razor and all that….

‘Serious Conflicts of Interest’: Biden EPA Official Oversaw $5B Grant to His Former Employer

20th February 2025

Read it.

The senior Biden administration official tasked with directing former President Joe Biden’s $27 billion climate grant program oversaw a $5 billion grant from the program to his former employer, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Jahi Wise joined the Environmental Protection Agency in December 2022 as the founding director of the newly created Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, or GGRF, according to his LinkedIn profile. In April 2024, while Wise served in that role, the EPA announced that it would award GGRF grants totaling $20 billion to just eight nonprofits, including the Coalition for Green Capital, a Washington, D.C.-based group that received $5 billion as part of the announcement and where Wise previously worked as the director of policy. There is no indication that Wise recused himself from that process.

To which he will no doubt be returning now that the political climate in D.C. doesn’t align with what appear to be his career goals.

Is anybody surprised by this? Anybody at all?

Conspiracy Theorists Were Right About Everything – Now What?

20th February 2025

Read it.

For many years alternative economists and “conspiracy theorists” have argued that, according to the evidence, there has been an organized criminal cabal operating a long running agenda to exploit and eventually destroy western culture. We have suggested that much of this agenda was being funded with our own tax dollar while using government institutions and NGOs as vehicles for social engineering.

In the 20 years since I started work in the liberty movement (or patriot movement), I have seen corruption beyond imagining and it all culminated in 2020-2023 when many of us battled against the imposition of total medical tyranny and mass woke indoctrination. Even after that startling Orwellian period we were still called conspiracy theorists, but public awareness is changing rapidly.

I’ve see enough to know that what is happening today is truly unprecedented. We have entered a crossroads; a time when reality is no longer discarded for the sake of collective comfort and “conspiracy” becomes historic fact. It’s an exciting time to be alive, but also potentially hazardous.

D.C. U.S. Attorney Probing Democrats Over Alleged Threats, Documents Show

20th February 2025

Washington Poop, a Voice of the Crust.

‘Alleged threats’? We all see them daily on TV.

The top federal prosecutor in D.C. escalated his scrutiny of what he characterized as potential threats directed at billionaire Elon Musk and government workers, demanding information from a Democratic congressman who criticized Musk and telling his office he planned to prosecute anyone targeting public officials, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post.

Just like a Democrat!

In an all-staff email to prosecutors, interim D.C. U.S. attorney Ed Martin on Wednesday announced “Operation Whirlwind,” a new initiative to prosecute threats against public officials at all levels — a problem that has escalated in recent years.

Mostly by Democrats.

The email was obtained by The Post, as well as additional “letters of inquiry” sent by Martin to Rep. Robert Garcia (D-California) and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-New York). Martin requested Garcia “clarify” statements regarding Musk on CNN last week and stepped up a previously reported demand that Schumer explain statements about two conservative Supreme Court justices in 2020.

‘We’re coming for you!’ doesn’t appear to need much explanation.

“Free speech has limits and threatening government workers crosses the line,” Martin wrote in the email, which he said came after he spoke the previous night with a senior Musk aide about threats against U.S. DOGE Service workers. “We will stop the storm of threats against officials at all levels.”

Sauce for the goose….

Trump Team Finds Loophole to Defy Spirit of Court Orders Blocking Spending Freezes

20th February 2025

The New York Times, a Voice of the Crust.

The Trump administration is systematically exploiting loopholes to effectively keep much of the president’s blanket spending freezes in place, accounts by officials and court filings show, despite restraining orders from judges who have told agencies to disregard the directives.

The administration’s strategy is to have political appointees embedded in various agencies invoke other legal authorities to pause spending, while posturing as if those officials had undertaken the efforts independent of President Trump’s original directives.

In short, critics say, administration officials are paying lip service to complying with the letter of the court orders while violating their spirit. The tactic shows how aggressively and nimbly the Trump administration is working to keep funds jammed up, and the complexity judges face if they want to compel the administration to unblock the money.

It would appear that Trump has learned a great deal about politics as-it-is-played by the Deep State, and has assembled a team of cunning operators to do unto others as it was done unto them. The apparatchiks, of course, think this is terribly unfair. “MOMMMEEE! Donald hit me back!”

Paging DOGE: Study Finds 28% Spike in Corruption When Feds Shower Local Governments in Cash

20th February 2025

Read it.

Federal grants are a crucial funding source for local governments, growing from $135 billion in 1990 to an astounding $1.2 trillion in 2022. However, a new study reveals that sudden surges of federal money – so-called “windfalls” – increase local corruption by up to 28%. This research underscores the urgent need for stringent oversight mechanisms, particularly at the federal level, to ensure these funds serve their intended purpose rather than lining the pockets of corrupt officials.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Charity Guts DEI After Assuring Staff It Would Continue

20th February 2025

The Guardian, a Voice of the Crust.

The for-profit charity organization founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, has done an about-face on its commitment to corporate diversity.

Executives at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) informed employees on Tuesday evening that the organization would in effect do away with both internal and external diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts, according to an internal email and other correspondence viewed by the Guardian. On 10 January, leaders at CZI reassured staff that its longstanding support for DEI was not changing. Zuckerberg’s company Meta had announced earlier that day it would terminate its DEI programs, in the days before Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

Marc Malandro, CZI’s chief operating officer, wrote in the email to all employees: “Given the shifting regulatory and legal landscape, we will no longer have a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility team at CZI.”

The organization also rolled back its Diverse Slate Practice, an effort to ensure that qualified candidates from a diverse set of backgrounds be interviewed for all open roles at the charity. Meta nixed a similar rule last month. The changes “align with our focus as a science philanthropy”, Malandro wrote.

Many organizations indulged in DEI virtue-signaling because the pervasive power of a Woke administration in D.C., I suspect, made them apprehensive of what sort of political persecution that administration might subject them to, considering the egregious and pervasive lawfare aimed at Trump.  Now that Biden is out and Trump is in, I suspect that a significant number of them are tossing DEI into the trash can with a sigh of relief and a willingness to get back to their real business without the distractions of a lot of political posturing.

PBS Celebrates FBI Killer Peltier, ‘Political Prisoner…Global Symbol for Human Rights’

20th February 2025

Read it.

The PBS News Hour, along with the rest of the liberal press, have certainly warmed up in recent years to the FBI, America’s chief domestic surveillance organization. Since Donald Trump came on the scene, a press eager to find criminal behavior within a loathed administration has behaved more like a present-day “Friends of the FBI” than the bulwark against government spying and surveillance it once fancied itself as being.

PBS has even run pro-FBI stories with a McCarthyite tinge, like one applauding the online liberal “sedition hunters” of January 6 scofflaws.

But the release from prison of an American Indian activist convicted of murdering two FBI agents in 1975 put the PBS News Hour in liberal reset mode on Tuesday evening. Co-anchor Amna Nawaz marked the occasion with a tone similar to hard-left groups like Amnesty International in celebrating the release of the infamous convicted killer Leonard Peltier. The now-80-year-old Peltier’s life sentence was commuted to home confinement by President Biden just hours before leaving office January 20.

Historic Plummet in Illegal Border Crossings Reveals the Root Cause of the Biden Border Crisis

20th February 2025

Read it.

The massive flood of illegal aliens across the southern border has become a trickle, disappearing almost as swiftly as it first emerged four years ago.

Isn’t it interesting how quickly the issue at the border has begun to solve itself now that we have a president who is willing to uphold the law? It seems even before he returned to office, potential border crossers got the message they wouldn’t be here to stay.

If you recall, the Biden administration insisted for years that there was no crisis at the border and that it was “secure.”

Not only was there a very real crisis, but given the timing of the surge at the southern border and now its sudden halt, it seems clear that this whole thing was intentionally fabricated. The Biden border problem wasn’t merely a result of incompetence, it was the product of an intentional subversion of U.S. immigration laws.

Massive WWII B-29 Bomber Base Fully Reclaimed for Future Pacific Fight

20th February 2025

Read it

Satellite imagery shows the extent of the massive amount of work that has been done in the past year to restore more than 20 million square feet of runways and other World War II-era infrastructure at historic North Field on the U.S. island of Tinian in the Western Pacific. The airfield was originally established as a launchpad for B-29 bomber raids on Imperial Japan, including the ones that saw atomic bombs dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The facility has been refurbished to again offer a critical power projection node with its original grid-like layout presenting targeting challenges for a modern opponent, all of which could be especially valuable in a future high-end fight in the region against China.

A series of satellite images of North Field taken between Dec. 3, 2023, and Jan. 29, 2025, by Planet Labs starkly illustrates just how extensive the reconstitution of the derelict airfield has become. The images, as can seen below, show the progressive clearing of the previously overgrown runways, taxiways, and other infrastructure.

Hypergamy for the Win: Physical Attractiveness Outweighs Intelligence in Daughters’ and Parents’ Mate Choices

19th February 2025

Read it.

The findings revealed a stark contrast between stated preferences and actual choices. While both daughters and parents initially rated intelligence as more important than attractiveness in an ideal partner, their selections told a different story. The majority of daughters (72.6%) and parents (59.6%) chose the more attractive man, regardless of his intelligence level, suggesting that physical appearance exerts a stronger influence in constrained decisions than individuals consciously recognize.

The reference to ‘parents’ in the headline is misleading: “The researchers recruited 201 daughters (ages 18-33) and 187 parents, primarily mothers, from a university community and social media.” [emphasis added]. So the finding relates to women, mothers and daughters, rather than parents equally.

“We’re Winning Across the Board”: Raskin Takes Premature Victory Lap Just Before Slew of Court Losses

19th February 2025

Read it.

On CBS’s Face the Nation, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D., Md.) repeated the talking point of Democratic politicians and pundits that the courts are stopping President Donald Trump’s lawless actions taken after his inauguration. Raskin declared “we’re winning in court…we’re winning across the board.”

The boast was dubious at best on Sunday given earlier losses, but became embarrassing on Monday and Tuesday as additional courts ruled in favor of the Trump Administration in major cases.

For weeks, some of us have expressed confusion over the basis for some of the Democratic challenges and initial injunctions in court. President Trump clearly has the authority to designate federal officials to look at the books and track expenditures in the executive branch. After losing both houses and the majority vote, Democratic groups sought to use the courts to block such executive actions.

There was obvious forum shopping as these groups went to many of the same courts and judges for relief.

However, even judges viewed as decidedly hostile to Trump like Judge Tanya Chutkan in Washington ultimately balked at the demand for an injunction and allowed the access and actions to continue.

Two More Staffers Quit John Fetterman’s Office as the Senator Carves His Own Lane With Trump

19th February 2025

NBC News, a Voice of the Crust.

Two of Sen. John Fetterman’s longest-serving staff members are leaving his team as the senator takes a more open approach to President Donald Trump than many of his Democratic colleagues are.
Charlie Hills, Fetterman’s communications director, and Tré Easton, his legislative director, are set to soon depart the Pennsylvania Democrat’s office.
Both men worked on Fetterman’s 2022 campaign and have been with him during his two-year Senate career.
“Working for John afforded me the opportunity to build a diligent policy team from scratch,” Easton said in a statement to NBC News. “Together we created a legislative body of work that I think is a blueprint for how Democrats should be governing when they have power. I’ll forever be grateful.”
The departures come one month after Carrie Adams left as Fetterman’s communications director. She had garnered attention when she was quoted in a Free Press article disagreeing with the senator on Israel and the war in Gaza. That followed Fetterman losing three of his top communications staffers last March, before his chief-of-staff, Adam Jentleson, stepped down.
The senator’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

‘Settlers go back home’: ‘Pro-Hamas Mob’ Stages Violent Protest in Brooklyn Jewish Neighborhood

19th February 2025

Read it.

Anti-Israel activists violently targeted one of the most Jewish neighborhoods in New York Tuesday night, drawing comparison to Germany in the 1930s. Islamists attempted to stab Jews in the street, ram them with a car, assault them with sticks, and pepper spray pro-Israel counter-protesters. The harassment, protests and arrests happened in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn.

The targeted protest against Jews in Brooklyn was organized by the anti-Israel radical group Pal-Awda. On Monday afternoon, the group announced on X that it was targeting the orthodox Jewish community to protest “settlements” in Israel, and called for a “complete end” to the Jewish state of Israel. It should be noted that they were targeting New Yorkers who live in New York in order to make their point.

An Islamic State-linked graphic is circulating on social media, calling on Jihadists in major European cities to drive into large crowds, as if to emulate the recent actions of an Afghan asylum seeker in Germany. The campaign asks:

What are you waiting for? The streets are full of targets. Run them over!!

It comes from the unofficial IS associate outfit ‘Al Saif Media,’ and calls in particular for high-impact attacks in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Vienna, Brussels, Antwerp, and Salzburg. europeanconservative.com’s rundown on recent terror attacks in these and other areas across the continent can be found here.

The New Deal Bookend

19th February 2025

ZMan scopes it out.

The assault on the Blob has taken up most of the attention in Washington, along with the reproachment with Russia, but the biggest item on the Trump agenda is the restructuring of the American economy. If you listen to what Trump says when asked about what has been happening thus far, it often circles back to the economy and how he imagines it to be after his changes. The thing is no one in the media follows up on it so Trump is never asked about that end goal.

There were some hints in the Russia coverage. One of the participants from the Russian side was the head of their sovereign wealth fund. This is something Trump has said he wants to create for the American government. A sovereign investment fund is a state-owned investment fund that does the same things a private investment fund, except it also has an eye on policy. A sovereign wealth fund acts as an additional level in both foreign and domestic policy.

This is not a thing you typically see in the West, as the Western economic model is built on the assumption that the government should not meddle in markets. This is a big lie, of course, as Western governments regulate everything. The thing is the regulations are dictated by the market makers through the miracle of regulatory capture, so the political class has limited control of the regulations. A sovereign wealth fund would put the political class on an even footing with the market makers.

Company Involved In Pearson Airport Plane Crash Was Obsessed With DEI

19th February 2025

The Delta Airlines flight that flipped over and crashed at Pearson Airport was operated by Endeavor Air, a company that has relentlessly pushed DEI initiatives and bragged about having “unmanned” all-female flights that contained no male staff.

Respondents to the shocking incident noted how Endeavor Air, the Delta subsidiary that operated the flight, was obsessed with DEI initiatives, and produced a feminist girlboss video promoting its all-female flights with a rap song featuring the lyrics “bad girls do it well.”

Other videos linked to the company show other female Endeavor Air flight crew and stewardesses performing choreographed dance routines celebrating the total absence of men.

Correlation doesn’t imply causation, but it’s a good place to start.

Flashback: Federal Reserve Refuses to Provide Records of Foreign Gold Holdings

19th February 2025

Read it.

Weeks after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell evaded a sitting congressman’s questions about the central bank’s foreign gold holdings, the Fed has also declined to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request for records about such holdings.

The Federal Reserve’s lack of transparency comes amidst reports that countries are removing their gold and other assets from the U.S. in the wake of the unprecedented Western sanctions imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. According to a 2023 Invesco survey, a “substantial percentage” of central banks expressed concern about how the U.S. and its allies froze nearly half of Russia’s $650 billion gold and forex reserves.

Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.Va., asked Powell about the matter in a December letter, only to have the Fed chair respond last month with evasive non-answers, telling him that the Federal Reserve does not own gold but holds it as a custodian for other entities—a fact that the congressman presumably already knew.

Following Powell’s evasive response, Headline USA filed a FOIA request with the Fed for records reflecting how much gold the Federal Reserve Bank of New York currently holds in its vault, as well as records reflecting the ownership stake that each of FRBNY’s central bank/government clients have in that gold. The FOIA request also sought records about the Fed’s gold holdings prior to Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

In the weeks since President Trump took office, federal judges have arrogated to themselves the authority to control how the government spends money, whether the government can issue orders to government personnel and even the content displayed on government websites.

Federal judges have claimed that the White House can’t offer buyouts to federal employees, can’t fire political appointees from the previous administrations, can’t pause funding, can’t cut funds to government programs, can’t change formulas allocating government grants and also can’t remove transgender ideology from government websites put there by its predecessors.

Biden’s Transformer Blunder: How Ideological Policy Choices Deepened the Grid Crisis

The transformer crisis is a direct result of the previous administration’s decision to prioritize ideological policies over practical energy infrastructure needs. While certain technologies were favored politically, they did not address the essential requirements of grid stability. Without immediate action to rectify the transformer shortage, the U.S. risks hindering economic growth and compromising energy security.

GOP Senators Put Red Cross on Notice After ‘Neutral’ Aid Organization Participates in Hamas Propaganda Ceremony

19th February 2025

Read it.

When Hamas gunmen paraded emaciated Israeli hostages across a stage in Gaza earlier this month, they were flanked by two representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an aid group that boasts of its neutrality. The agency’s participation in the choreographed propaganda display—as well as its failure to visit the hostages as they struggled in captivity—is now drawing scrutiny on Capitol Hill, with GOP lawmakers questioning the Red Cross’s objectivity and care for those still held in captivity.

The most shocking scene to date unfolded two weekends ago, when Hamas militants forced three severely malnourished Israeli captives—Ohad Ben Ami, 56; Eli Sharabi, 52; and Or Levy, 34—to make a speech to a crowd of Gazans before their release. Standing beside the masked gunmen were two Red Cross officials identified by the Washington Free Beacon as Nour Khadam and Stephanie Eller, both of whom have been featured in the ICRC’s online materials.

Footage from the hostage release shows Khadam shaking hands with a Hamas militant as Eller stands behind him, and a masked Hamas soldier snaps photographs. Like other Red Cross officials present at these stage-managed events—reportedly produced by an Al Jazeera journalist—Eller and Khadam signed documents and stood on hand while the terror group forced the hostages to thank their captors. Photos taken on the day show the Israelis holding certificates provided by Hamas as they are interviewed next to gun-touting militants.

I don’t know if lying about this is actionable, but it’s certainly abominable. She freely admits to hiding the fact that she had a long-term lockdown in mind right from the start, and that the “two weeks” thing was just a ploy to get the administration to fall into her trap.

What may be just as bad is this part: “I didn’t have the numbers in front of me yet to make the case for extending it longer, but I had two weeks to get them.” Let’s just start with a conclusion, and cherry-pick the data to fit that conclusion. The consequence – long-term lockdowns – were absolutely devastating and we are still feeling their pernicious effects on society, the economy, child development, mental health, and social interaction.

Democracy Thrives on Wokeness: WaPo Doubles Down on DEI

19th February 2025

Read it.

Days before Donald Trump was sworn in as president last month, the Washington Post ostensibly abandoned its catchy #Resistance-era slogan—”Democracy Dies in Darkness”—in favor of something less combative: “Riveting Storytelling for All of America.” Alas, the paper’s recently unveiled “Next 50” list of individuals “shaping our society in 2025” suggests the Post’s journalists are still struggling to dislodge themselves from the woke liberal bubble that has long impeded their ability to make content suitable for normal Americans.

The list is real, but it could easily be mistaken for a caricature of the niche worldview of Acela-corridor journalists and other DEI-obsessed liberal activists. There are a few token Republicans, such as White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, the first woman in history to hold that position. But they weren’t featured in the promotional video the Post produced. It would appear that the paper, which serves a digital audience composed primarily of 55-64-year-olds, is not quite ready to abandon its woke tendencies in order to thrive in the post-#Resistance age. Here are some of the most noteworthy examples of the “fascinating” individuals who made the cut:

Chase Strangio: High-voiced trans activist and deputy director for transgender justice at the ACLU. Made history as the first “openly transgender” lawyer to argue a case before the Supreme Court.

CIA Reportedly Flying MQ-9 Spy Drones Over Mexico as Cartel Fight Nears

19th February 2025

Read it.

US Air Force spy planes have recently conducted signals intelligence (SIGINT) operations along the US-Mexico border, while Green Berets from the US Army’s 7th Special Forces Group have been deployed to a naval facility in Campeche—a Mexican port city on the Gulf of Mexico—for what’s described as a “training mission.” These developments offer a clearer picture of President Trump’s emerging strategy to combat Mexican cartels, which have fueled a drug death catastrophe of 100,000 Americans per year. This approach aligns with Trump’s designation of these cartels as “foreign terrorist organizations.”

The CIA, operating under the Trump administration, has been secretly deploying unarmed (at the moment) General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper drones over regions of Mexico dominated by heavily armed drug cartels, according to a CNN report. The report comes from current and former officials with knowledge of ongoing national security operations, shedding light on what is happening under the cloak of darkness – in preparation to disrupt and dismantle drug cartels.

‘Trump Effect’: Illegal Border Crossings Could Be on Track to Hit Near 50-Year Low

19th February 2025

Read it.

The White House has touted January’s 36% decline in border apprehensions—the lowest number of illegal aliens apprehended along the border in almost five years—as the “Trump effect.”

That total includes 29,116 apprehended at the border outside of official ports of entry, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. That’s the lowest since May 2020. And that compares to 47,316 apprehensions outside of official ports in December.

The January total also includes 32,349 apprehensions at ports of entry, compared to 48,719 in December.

Further, the Trump administration has dropped the catch-and-release policies of the Biden administration, where those caught crossing the border illegally would be released into the United States instead of immediately deported.

“Illegal immigration at the southern border plummeted in January amid President Donald J. Trump’s return to office and immediate crackdown,” the White House announced in a Tuesday statement. “Call it the Trump effect.”

I’ll be happy to do so.

Legacy Media Goes All in on Europe’s Censorship Regimes

It says a lot about America’s fast fading legacy media establishment leaders that they’ve decided to use up the last shreds of their credibility to glorify censorship.

This dynamic is exactly what’s been playing out following Vice President JD Vance’s speech in Munich, Germany, on Friday. In that speech, he excoriated European governments for, among other things, retreating from the principle of free speech.

Vance pointed to specific examples where Western European governments trampled on free speech rights, like how the Germans have raided the homes of people who expressed “anti-feminist” commentary on the internet or how British authorities arrested a man for praying at an abortion clinic.

Republican House Speaker Todd Huston’s proposal would create an Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission tasked with exploring the secession and transfer of counties that have already voted to leave the state of Illinois.

Huston said House Bill 1008, part of the majority caucus’ priority agenda, seeks to show disgruntled Illinois residents that Indiana “welcomes” those counties “to consider joining our state.”

Odd how you never find ‘secession movements’ seeking to leave a Red State for a Blue State.

Actually, it’s not odd at all.

Quotation of the Day

19th February 2025

ZMan:

Back in the 1980’s when Reagan was riding high, public officials would often talk about the need to avoid bad precedents. Today’s exception to the rules for a good purpose could become tomorrow’s exception to the rules for bad purpose. Then you had Republicans who were developing their act where they say, “If we use our new power to serve our voters, we will be as bad as the Democrats!”

From a civic nationalist perspective, these sorts of things were correct. If one side abuses the rules to their advantage, then other sides will do the same and before long you have a man on a horse crossing a river he is never supposed to cross. On the other hand, if only one side gets to make exceptions, then the only precedent being set is that the side breaking the rules keeps winning.

That has been the shape of things since Watergate. The people we call the left run everything and they get to make exceptions. When they need a break and the other side gets to take a turn at the wheel, they make a fetish of the rules. This is the source of those vaunted principles the conservative love so much. The first principle is they follow the rules and everyone else cheats like hell.

Educating the Stupid on How Audits Work In Real Life

18th February 2025

Larry Correia.

Watching everybody I know on the left pontificating about the proper way to conduct audits, after getting their accounting degrees from the University of Internet this week, is absolute cringe for me.

Guys, listen, I say this with love… You don’t know dick about shit and it’s fucking embarrassing. Just stop. You sound like idiots.

So now, as a guy who used to be an auditor, who has defended companies from dozens of audits from different government agencies, I’ll try to correct some of your incredibly stupid NPC talking points you keep endlessly barfing up.

As somebody who worked in accounting for a number of years (my concentration in my MBA program was Audit), Larry is spot on.

Sure, this government program is an obvious scam to funnel tax dollars to bureaucrats and their NGO friends, so cat ladies in Arlington can collect $700k salaries at the “charity” run out of her multimillion dollar town home, but if we cut that a single puppy will die!

I feel bad for the Hostage Puppy. I really do. But don’t blame the auditors who are finding this shit, and don’t blame the tax payers who are tired of getting butt fucked. If you were honest you’d blame the bureaucrats and grifters who got us to this place.

What HE said….

Conflicts of Interest in Climate Science: A Systemic Blind Spot

18th February 2025

Read it.

The field of climate science has long been presented as an objective, data-driven discipline, immune to the biases and financial conflicts that plague other scientific domains. However, a recent preprint study by Jessica Weinkle et al, Conflicts of Interest, Funding Support, and Author Affiliation in Peer-Reviewed Research on the Relationship between Climate Change and Geophysical Characteristics of Hurricanes, challenges this assumption, shedding light on an alarming lack of conflict of interest (COI) disclosures in climate research, particularly in studies linking hurricanes to climate change?. She also has an excellent write up of the study on her Substack, Conflicted.

The study’s findings reveal a disturbing trend: not a single one of the 331 authors analyzed disclosed any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest?. Moreover, the research found that funding from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) was a significant predictor of studies reporting a positive association between climate change and hurricane behavior?.

CONNECTING THE DOTS: Mapping Alex Soros’s Growing Dominance in Washington

18th February 2025

Newsbusters.

Finding links to the Soros family in the Joe Biden White House should come as no surprise. In addition to George’s decades-long meddling in our politics, he spent tens of millions backing Biden and other Democrats in 2020, and Alex got in on the action too, throwing $700,000 at the would-be worst president of the 21st century.

As documented in the book The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network for George Soros (2022), George planted his seeds of influence in the Biden White House even before Biden took office.

During the transition, the incoming Biden administration assembled “Transition Review Teams” that included people tasked with understanding the operations of specific government agencies to help the administration “hit the ground running on day one.” Seventeen picks for those teams either worked directly for his Open Society Foundations (OSF) or other Soros-funded organizations.

Through that, Soros was able to exert influence on the transition teams ranging from the State Department to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, United States Mission to the United Nations, Department of Defense, Department of Labor, Department of the Interior, Department of the Treasury, Federal Reserve, Banking and Securities Regulators, National Security Council, Office of the US Trade Representative and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Six Psychological Tricks Companies Use to Keep You From Canceling Your Subscriptions

18th February 2025

Lifehacker, a Crust-adjacent source of advice.

Canceling memberships has become an everyday thing for a lot of people. We cycle through streaming services, we sign up for trial memberships, we find cheaper, better options for everything from television to gyms and jump whenever it makes financial, emotional, or psychological sense for us to do so. We’re pretty much at a point where the moment you sign up for a service or subscription, the countdown to your inevitable cancellation begins.

And everyone knows that canceling those subscriptions and services can be a challenge, even with new rules in place that are supposed to make it easier. If you’ve ever tried to cancel something and found it very difficult, or even outright failed to get it done, you were probably a victim of “dark patterns” and psychological tricks that companies use to stymie your efforts to dump them. In other words, you got sucked into their “cancellation funnel.”

If, of course, that’s what you want to do.

Because life isn’t school. there isn’t “complete this study, then study this thing, then receive this degree, then–“

It’s a chaotic interaction of abilities and needs. In many ways unpredictable.

More unpredictable when idiots are playing with the over-structure of government and distorting the economy for their own agenda.

Fair is a market where they sell cattle.

There is no fair in life. There is doing what you can and fighting for survival.

Do that.

A Timeline of Evil: Terror Attacks in Europe in 2024-25

18th February 2025

Read it.

Over the past years, not a week has gone by without a jihadist terror attack in some European city being reported in the news. Most of the perpetrators turn out to be failed asylum seekers, highlighting the fact that Western European governments have failed to protect their own citizens by mismanaging the migration crisis that started a decade ago—failing to stop illegal migrants from entering, and failing to deport those who have no right to stay.

While the terrorist acts of late may not resemble the more coordinated attacks of previous years, characterized by shootings and suicide bombings like the ones Parisians had to endure in 2015, the lone wolf-style attacks are just as daunting and terrifying, prompting European voters everywhere to turn to anti-establishment, right-wing parties that vow to get a grip on the situation.

In order to remind that Europe is under constant attack by Islamists who loathe Western values and have vowed to destroy Western civilization, europeanconservative.com has compiled a list of the most vicious attacks that have occurred in 2024 and 2025, as well as a list of thwarted terror attacks that could have caused havoc had they not been prevented.

Imagine how peaceful the world would be if the Religion of Peace didn’t exist.

Ending Illegal Discrimination at Notre Dame

18th February 2025

The American Mind.

The Fighting Irish may soon be fighting in court rather than on the gridiron. Few universities have practiced affirmative action in hiring longer than Notre Dame, as I document in a new report. Notre Dame’s provost even recently announced that increasing “the number of women and underrepresented minorities” on the faculty is a goal “equally important” to hiring Catholic faculty.

Fifty years of efforts to increase diversity, however, are now clearly in conflict with President Trump’s Executive Order 14173, a bold plan for “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity.” Section 4 of that order directs relevant government agencies, in a process overseen by the attorney general in coordination with the Office of Management and Budget, to identify the most egregious examples of “illegal DEI discrimination” happening at, among other places, “institutions of higher education with endowments over 1 billion dollars.” The Department of Education could conduct up to nine investigations of around 80 institutions, a target rich environment. Notre Dame, whose endowment exceeds $20 billion, is one such institution that needs to be investigated.

Notre Dame has been practicing affirmative action since the late 1970s, when it established its Academic Affirmative Action Committee (AAAC). The school had long favored hiring faithful Catholics, relying on informal networks in earlier days, when more than 80% of the faculty were Catholic. But according to the AAAC, using informal networks made it more difficult to hire women and underrepresented minorities. Thus Notre Dame revolutionized its hiring process, shifting away from its historic religious affiliation to a new focus on diversity.

I was born in South Bend, and inherited my love of Notre Dame from my parents. My mother’s mother’s father was allegedly a bricklayer brought over from Ireland during the Famine, and family legend has it that his name is inscribed on the Golden Dome along with those of all the other workmen who helped build the campus. Fortunately I left the area before the rot set in.

The Post of Judgement

18th February 2025

Zman examines the Narrative Media.

For a long time now, there have been people on this side of the great divide arguing that the real source of power in American society is the media. The media has power because they control the moral framework and the discourse within it. If the media declares a set of facts unacceptable, then no one talks about them, unless they have a desire to be hurled into the void. The media controls what is allowed to be said, so they control how things are done and by whom.

On the surface, this was true, and it was always true to some degree. A popular political quip from the analog days was that “You should never pick fights with people who buy ink by the barrel.” If the New York Times decided to declare a fatwah on you, there was a very good chance you were going to lose. This was why so-called conservatives and Republicans would crawl on their bellies to talk with the press, even though the media treated them as the official punching bag.

The model for this was Watergate. If not for media pressure, the political class would not have done anything about Nixon. The reason for that is they had no reason to hate Nixon, even if they disagreed with him. It was the media that made Nixon into a villain and then demanded the political class do something. Congress did not force Nixon out of office because they hated him or they believed he violated the rules of politics, but because they feared the media.

How COVID Pushed a Generation of Young People to the Right

18th February 2025

The Atlantic, a Voice of the Crust.

Research suggests that pandemics are more likely to reduce rather than build trust in scientific and political authorities.

Perhaps because they bring home the fact that No One Is Coming To Save You. The establishment is eager to take your money and spend it on things they like, and eager to lie to you and pretend that they are acting for your benefit, but the ‘stress test’ of a pandemic or other natural disaster reveals pretty quickly what a scam and a grift it all is.

DOGE Finds $4.7 Trillion in Virtually Untraceable Treasury Payments

18th February 2025

Read it.

The Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Monday revealed its finding that $4.7 trillion in disbursements by the US Treasury are “almost impossible” to trace, thanks to a rampant disregard for the basic accounting practice of using of tracking codes when dishing out money.

Mind you, it’s not as if such a federal tracking system wasn’t already in place — it simply went casually unused for all sorts of payouts adding up to an almost unfathomable $4.7 trillion. Without Treasury Access Symbol (TAS) identification codes associated with those payouts, there’s little hope in figuring out where all that money went.

Northwestern Law School Clinic Funds Legal Defense of Anti-Israel Activists Who Shut Down Chicago Airport

18th February 2025

Read it.

A Northwestern Law School clinic is providing free legal defense to a group of anti-Israel radicals who organized a blockade of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport that shut down travel last spring. One of the organizers is benefiting from that defense after repeatedly accusing Northwestern of “anti-Palestinian discrimination.”

Sheila Bedi, a Northwestern law professor who leads the school’s Community Justice and Civil Rights Clinic, is representing four of the blockade organizers, according to legal filings reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon. Her clinic and others like it at Northwestern use funding from the law school and its donors to offer legal services pro bono, according to attorneys familiar with the school.

The Washington, D.C.-based Hamilton Lincoln Law Institute filed a class action suit against the “anti-American” organizers in September, arguing that they should pay civil damages to travelers who missed their flights and were forced to walk miles with their luggage to access the airport.

The European Welfare State Is Collapsing

18th February 2025

Read it.

Politicians in Europe are using the JD Vance and Trump external enemy excuse to disguise the existential problem of a system that is crumbling. The statist nightmare built around what politicians call “welfare state” has proven to be a subterfuge to multiply bureaucracy and create a dependent subclass.

The welfare state was never sustainable but was created as an affordable luxury that rich economies could finance with strong economic growth and a solid productive sector. However, European governments overlooked the necessity of fostering economic growth and productivity to finance the welfare state.

Furthermore, as left-wing populism permeated all segments of the European political landscape, politicians started to include more and more so-called “rights,” which became entitlement costs and subsidies, in a trend that led Europe to forget to create wealth and focus entirely on extractive and confiscatory policies.

If you allow poor people to vote, they will always vote to take money from non-poor people (‘Tax the rich!’ inevitably winds up being ‘Tax the middle and working class!’) to ‘redistribute’ to them.
