A Georgia appeals court on Monday canceled oral arguments that were scheduled for next month on the appeal of a lower court ruling allowing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to continue to prosecute the election interference case she brought against President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump and other defendants had asked the Georgia Court of Appeals to hold oral arguments in the case, and the court had set those arguments for Dec. 5. But in a one-line order with no further explanation, the appeals court said that hearing “is hereby canceled until further order of this Court.”

A Fulton County grand jury in August 2023 indicted Trump and 18 others, accusing them of participating in a sprawling scheme to illegally try to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Four defendants have pleaded guilty after reaching deals with prosecutors, but Trump and the others have pleaded not guilty.

Thousands of American kids are being sent to camps run by a Chinese influence and intelligence agency that promote Chinese Communist Party propaganda and even train some children to act like “Little Overseas Chinese Police,” a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation discovered.

The Chinese government advertises the “Root-Seeking Summer Camp In China” as an opportunity for ethnically Chinese children living in the U.S. and other countries to immerse themselves in the Chinese language and culture. However, a Daily Caller News Foundation review of Chinese government announcements and the program’s website discovered the camps are overseen by a Chinese influence and intelligence service.

The program not only exposes participants as young as 10 years old to CCP propaganda, but some even operate like boot camps run by officers from the People’s Liberation Army and the Ministry of Public Security, Chinese government social media posts reveal.

Two parents in Lacey, Washington, were arrested for allegedly attempting to kill their 17-year-old daughter after she refused to marry an older man in an arranged match, police said.

According to police, Ihsan Ali and his wife, Zahraa Ali, were charged with attempted murder for the attack, which took place outside Timberline High School, where the daughter, who was not identified, is enrolled.

In charging documents obtained by the New York Post, the daughter said that “her father had recently been threatening her with honor killing for refusing an arranged marriage with an older man in another county.”

Today the cultural gap in America is not a function of geography but of education. A certain level of education — basically a bachelor’s degree — is now required to advance significantly in society. We may forget in our little university and urban cocoons but only a little more than a third of adult Americans have such a degree. When I looked up the percent of Manhattanites with a university degree, which I assumed to be a little less than 50%, I discovered that it has risen to nearly 70%. It is only 23% in the Bronx. I had no idea.

I’m surprised it’s that high in the Bronx. I’d have guessed 10%, maybe.

And the consequences of this gap are not just economic. University does not only provide training for entering lucrative professions, it also socialises students into new styles of living, as Tocqueville called it, that are vastly different from those of the less educated. Graduates come out of the university with different ideas about how to comport themselves in public and at work, what to eat, how to entertain themselves, how many children to have and how to raise them, how to manage money, and how to take care of their health. Even the typical bodies of our cultural classes are notably different today.

A California health department poured millions of taxpayer dollars into anti-police groups over the last year for projects ranging from COVID-19 treatment to coaching teens on social justice activism, a Washington Free Beacon review of state grant spending found.

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), which runs the Golden State’s Medicaid program for some 15 million residents, or a third of the population, doled out nearly $2.4 million to the anti-police groups. Recipients include the Anti Police-Terror Project, an Oakland-based police abolition group, and several organizations that joined its defund the police coalition, such as Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice.

DHCS, which has a $164 billion budget and a staff of nearly 4,700, promises “to use our state’s tax dollars as effectively as possible.” The grants, meanwhile, were awarded during the 2023-24 budget year, as California faced a $22.5 billion shortfall. A DHCS spokeswoman said the department wouldn’t be able to provide a response before “the middle of next week.”

On November 16, 2023, just before 8:00 a.m., hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters formed a human chain across the San Francisco Bay Bridge, blocking all westbound traffic and trapping tens of thousands of vehicles in a five-mile backup.

Among those vehicles were three trucks associated with the University of California, San Francisco, health system. Each was transporting organs that were set to be transplanted later that day, and the couriers, who had budgeted just 30 minutes of travel time, had their arrival delayed by nearly four hours.

The holdup forced UCSF to postpone pressing operations and put organ recipients at greater risk. “Every minute of time on ice is hard for the organs,” Garrett Roll, a UCSF transplant surgeon, told the San Francisco Chronicle at the time, adding that organs function less well for patients the longer they remain in transit. Twenty-six demonstrators were ultimately charged, eight of them with felonies.

A head election judge serving in a Minnesota township has been charged with two felony counts for allegedly letting 11 people vote without being registered.

Timothy Michael Scouton, 64, faces with one count of neglect of duty by an election official and one count of accepting the vote of an unregistered voter, KSTP reported.

According to a criminal complaint filed Friday, officials started to investigate after Hubbard County Auditor Kay Rave wasn’t able to find any completed voter registration forms among the ballots and other materials that were returned by Scouton, who had acted as head election judge in the Badoura Township precinct on election night.

Donald Trump’s transition team is making a list of senior military officers who oversaw the disastrous 2021 withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, and considering the possibility of court-martialing them for their failings, according to two sources cited by NBC News.

“They’re taking it very seriously,” said a source who claims to have knowledge of the initiative. The most notorious incident of the chaotic withdrawal was the Aug. 26, 2021 suicide bombing at Abbey Gate, just outside Hamid Karzai International Airport in the Afghan capital, Kabul. Thirteen US service members and more than 170 Afghan civilians were killed. In the following days, a US airstrike intended to kill the leader of the Islamic State instead killed 10 innocents. The rapid collapse of the US-sponsored Afghanistan government allowed enormous quantities of US weapons to fall into the hands of the Taliban.

Officials in Bucks County, Pennsylvania are openly disregarding a state Supreme Court ruling prohibiting them from counting provisional ballots missing a signature, as Democrats and Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) challenge Republican Senator-elect Dave McCormick’s election victory.

Bucks County Board of Commissioners Chair Robert J. Harvie Jr. (D) and Vice Chair Dianne Ellis-Marseglia (D) are plowing ahead with their count of the illegal ballots that are missing signatures in one of two places, which officials have referred to as “block two” and “block four.” The third commissioner, Republican Gene DiGirolamo was the lone dissenting voice.

“I think we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country,” said Ellis-Marseglia in response to the illegal count, adding “People violate laws anytime they want. So, for me, if I violate this law, it’s because I want a court to pay attention. There’s nothing more important than counting votes.”

Google has decided the European Union’s Regulation on Transparency and Targeting of Political Advertising will be so hard to comply with it’s better off not trying.

The search and ads giant on Thursday announced that it will stop serving political advertising in the EU sometime before October 2025 – when the Regulation (TTPA) comes into force.

Annette Kroeber-Riel, the big G’s veep for government affairs and public policy in Europe, wrote that the TTPA “unfortunately introduces significant new operational challenges and legal uncertainties for political advertisers and platforms.”

“For example, the TTPA defines political advertising so broadly that it could cover ads related to an extremely wide range of issues that would be difficult to reliably identify at scale,” she wrote. Another concern is the “lack of reliable local election data permitting consistent and accurate identification of all ads related to any local, regional or national election across any of 27 EU Member States.”

The cinematic Avengers assembled for Team Harris late in the election cycle. Stars Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Don Cheadle, Robert Downey, Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Danai Gurira and Paul Bettany starred in a cheeky video supporting Harris’ campaign.

Many of the stars did the same in 2016 to prevent Donald Trump from defeating Hillary Clinton. This time, the messaging proved more comic, less angry.

Neither worked. Did the stars get a payday from their collective endorsements? It’s a fair question to ask given Harris’ donation to Winfrey’s Harpo Productions.

Some writers are unjustly known for one book, no matter how many excellent works they may have written. Such has been the case—in the Anglosphere at least—for the prolific French novelist, travel writer, and explorer Jean Raspail (1925-2020) who had a fifty-year literary career, producing about forty books. That said, five of Raspail’s books have been translated into English over the past sixty years, which is probably a better average than most contemporary French writers.

The one book for which Raspail is known is, of course, his 1973 dystopian novel The Camp of the Saints, which first appeared in English in 1975 and which has become a kind of ideological sounding board (an appreciation by Robin Harris of Camp of the Saints and Raspail appeared in the Winter 2024 print edition of The European Conservative). There is talk of a new edition of this novel, featuring a fresh English translation, appearing in the near future. Usually falsely derided as a racist work, Saints great fault today seems to be that it was eerily prescient, not only that mass, uncontrolled migration would come to the West from the Global South—not much of a prediction there—but that the powers that be in the West would either welcome this invasion or that they would prove to be morally, technically, and politically incapable of stopping this from happening. Nevertheless, Raspail’s most notorious book is but a small part of his legacy.

Black women have long had to navigate being twice as good to get half the amount of credit. Kamala Harris’s presidential run was evidence of this.

Despite the stark difference in the tenor of each candidate’s campaign and the the quality of their policy proposals, many still questioned whether they could trust Harris’s leadership and opted for her opponent. Ultimately, an overwhelming majority of white voters voted Republican.

National exit polls showed that for white voters, their choice was largely a product educational attainment. Fifty-seven percent of college-educated white women voted for Harris, while 63 percent of non-college white women voted for Donald Trump. For white men, regardless of educational level, a majority voted for Trump. Contrast that with the 77 percent of Black men and 91 percent of Black women who voted for Kamala Harris.

The majority of the Black electorate, regardless of educational level, voted for Harris. But it wasn’t enough. The outcome reminded me of the Glass Cliff and the double standards for Black leaders that come along with it.

It wasn’t that she was totally unqualified, oh no. It wasn’t that she dropped the ball every time it was given to her, oh no. It wasn’t that she had never had a Real Job in her life, oh no. IT WAS WAYCISM, PURE AND SIMPLE.

Last year, the FBI official who oversaw the initial investigation into who planted the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill pipe bombs told Congress that cell phone data from that probe was “corrupted.”

“We have complete data. Not complete, because there’s some data that was corrupted by one of the providers—not purposely by them, right,” former FBI official Steven D’Antuono told the House Judiciary Committee in a transcribed interview.

“It’s just unusual circumstances that we have corrupt data from one of the providers. I can’t remember right now which one. But for that day, which is awful because we don’t have that information to search.”

It turns out, D’Antuono—who oversaw the FBI’s 2020 Gov. Whitmer kidnap case before being transferred to Washington DC just in time for Jan. 6—may have perjured himself.

The House Oversight Subcommittee said Thursday that it has found no evidence to support the claims from D’Antuono, who is now retired.

Research led by scientists at Emory University in Atlanta found that while tetanus and influenza vaccines prompt the body to produce long-lived plasma cells that generate antibodies, COVID-19 vaccines do not.

The mRNA vaccines cause the body to produce short-lived plasma cells that can only generate antibodies for a period of time before dying off.

Vaccines like tetanus give long-lasting immunity, with antibodies persisting in the body for up to 10 years. COVID-19 antibodies rapidly wane three to six months after vaccination, often resulting in breakthrough infections.

The Pentagon on Friday failed its seventh audit in a row, with the nation’s largest government agency still unable to fully account for its more than $824 billion budget, though officials stress they are making good progress toward a clean audit in 2028.

The Department of Defense technically earned a disclaimer of opinion, meaning it failed to provide sufficient information to auditors to form an accurate opinion.

The goal is to earn an unmodified audit opinion, or a clean audit that says the financial statements are accurate. A qualified opinion says there are omissions and concerns but the finances are generally reliable.

hen we walked into school on the morning of 6 November, we exchanged quick glances with the other girls in our social circle – looks filled with uncertainty and dread about the future. Because we are applying to colleges all around the country and about to leave our homes in the Hudson Valley, political issues suddenly have begun to feel a lot more personal.

Access to abortion and contraception, protection of the environment, and the growing hate and violence toward marginalized groups all have the potential to greatly impact our lives. We had only brief conversations about why Trump’s victory felt so defeating, but our shared disappointment stuck with us as we walked to our first period classes.

But as we sat down at our desks, we noticed a very different attitude among our male peers. Subtle high-fives were exchanged and remarks about the impending success of the next four years were whispered around. It didn’t make much sense. We live in a mostly liberal town in the Hudson Valley where Harris-Walz signs were posted outside of most of our friends’ houses. This is not to say that families with dissenting opinions don’t live in our town. But the boys that were the most vocal in their enthusiasm about the election results have progressive parents just like ours.

House Democrats are frustrated with former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) for her public comments on her party’s campaign failures, saying she’s undermining the leadership of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.), Axios reported.

“She needs to take a seat,” a senior Democratic lawmaker told Axios.

A member of the Congressional Black Caucus said Pelosi is not being “respectful” of Jeffries even though the minority leader “has been tremendously graceful and respectful of her.”

“I understand that this is a difficult transition for her, not being the leader, but she is not,” the lawmaker continued. “She needs to understand what her new role is.”

The Department of Homeland Security is rolling back progressive internal policies in anticipation of a second Trump presidency, according to internal agency documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

One example, described as “superfluous signaling” by one senior career staff member, is a memo entitled “Commitment to Nondiscrimination in Department of Homeland Security Activities.” That memo, which will no longer be released, largely focused on behavior that is already outlawed in the federal government, such as forbidding any “reliance on generalized stereotypes involving any individual characteristic.”

“It’s not clear why this memo was ever even written,” said one senior DHS official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “We can’t discriminate against anyone, but I guess this is what they prefer we do instead of deportations. But now I guess they don’t want to piss anyone off.”

en. Bob Casey (D., Pa.) urged voters to “reject extremism at the ballot box” last year by electing fellow Democrat Diane Ellis-Marseglia for Bucks County commissioner. Now, Ellis-Marseglia is openly defying Pennsylvania law to count illegal votes, part of an eyebrow-raising maneuver to help Casey in his longshot recount against Republican Dave McCormick.

On Thursday, Ellis-Marseglia voted to count mail-in ballots that lacked signatures in defiance of a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling that such votes are invalid. Ellis-Marseglia acknowledged that the votes were invalid but said she wanted to count them anyway to force a court challenge.

“I think we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country,” Ellis-Marseglia said at a commission meeting. “People violate laws any time they want,” she said. “So, for me, if I violate this law, it’s because I want a court to pay attention.”

From the dense jungle connecting Panama and Colombia to the banks of the Rio Grande, human smugglers are spreading a message to U.S.-bound migrants: Hurry up and sneak in before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

Trump’s second term is creating an incentive for migrants to try to reach U.S. soil before the Jan. 20 inauguration, because many anticipate the president-elect will dismantle legal pathways to entry. Those paths include a U.S. government app that allows people to apply for U.S. asylum while in Mexico and then cross legally when they have an appointment—a system created last year that some migrants think will be upended by Trump.

Beatriz Fuentes, who manages the Casa Fuente shelter for women and children in Mexico City, said her shelter began emptying out even before the election. “They were told to hurry up in case of a possible change,” she said.
