The Rockefeller Brothers Fund touts its commitment to advancing “social change that contributes to a more just, sustainable, and peaceful world.” It also bankrolls an Israeli-designated Palestinian terror group and has given millions more to groups that fund Hamas or have justified the terrorist group’s attacks against Israel.

Established by the heirs of John D. Rockefeller Jr., the Rockefeller Brothers Fund has since 2018 funneled more than $3.4 million to Hamas-friendly groups including Defense for Children International-Palestine, which serves as a critical cog in the terror group’s propaganda machinery.

In fact, the Israeli government declared Defense for Children International-Palestine a terror organization in October 2021, arguing that it effectively operates as an extension of the terror group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and employs senior PFLP members.

Home ownership was supposed to be the American dream, the thing to which the entire middle class could not only aspire but also achieve. The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta began maintaining a Home Ownership Affordability Monitor Index in 2006 because homes were so unaffordable at that time. The latest reading from that index, which has plunged 36% since President Joe Biden took office, is the lowest in its history and indicates record unaffordability. It now takes 44% of median income—before taxes—to afford a median-price home.

It’s even worse in several major metropolitan areas across the country. The cost of a median-price home is 50% of median income in Boston, 55% in Miami, 63% in New York, 84% in San Francisco, and 85% in Los Angeles. But these are percentages of before-tax income, which means the cost of home ownership in some of those places exceeds 100% of net income. “No joke,” as Biden would say.

A few years ago, David Brooks wrote a column in which he took a friend without a high school degree to a sandwich shop. “Suddenly,” he recounted, “I saw her face freeze up as she was confronted with sandwiches named ‘Padrino’ and ‘Pomodoro’ and ingredients like soppressata, capicollo and a striata baguette. I quickly asked her if she wanted to go somewhere else and she anxiously nodded yes and we ate Mexican.”

Brooks concluded that “American upper-middle-class culture (where the opportunities are) is now laced with cultural signifiers that are completely illegible unless you happen to have grown up in this class. They play on the normal human fear of humiliation and exclusion. Their chief message is, ‘You are not welcome here.'” Well, this is hardly a new phenomenon in America or otherwise, but it’s also only a superficial explanation of what separates the upper-middle class from everyone else. There are also real habits and real pieces of knowledge that enable some kids to get ahead. And they matter a lot more than whether you know different words for Italian meat.

Children “require a lot of work and a lot of resources,” writes the economist Melissa S. Kearney. And “having two parents in the household generally means having more resources to devote to the task of raising a family.” This includes working for pay, supervising kids, and much else.

That is the simplest argument for, as the title of Kearney’s book phrases it, a “two-parent privilege”: an advantage to growing up in an intact family. The privilege is denied to a large number of American children, disproportionately those who already face other disadvantages. As of 2019, 84 percent of kids whose moms had four years of college, but only 60 percent of kids whose moms had a high school degree or some college, lived with married parents. The racial gaps are even starker: Even among kids whose moms have a high-school education or less, about two-thirds of white kids, but only about one-third of black kids, have married parents.

The No Labels party on Thursday filed a lawsuit in Arizona seeking to block its ballot line from being used by Democrats who oppose the group’s efforts to launch a third-party ticket for president next year.

The lawsuit asks a federal judge in Phoenix to block Democratic Secretary of State Adrian Fontes from allowing people to run for offices other than president or vice president under the No Labels banner.

Police in the French city of Nantes have arrested a man in relation to the Brussels terrorist attack earlier this week which saw two Swedes shot and killed by Tunisian illegal immigrant and radical Islamist Abdesalem Lassoued, who was shot dead hours later by Brussels police.

The arrest of the man, who has yet to be identified by police, occurred on Thursday after investigators found that Lassoued had sent him messages and a video online shortly before he had killed his two Swedish victims, broadcaster BFMTV reports.

French newspaper Le Parisien, meanwhile, has claimed that the video sent by Lassoued was also sent to three other individuals, while newspaper Ouest France has stated the suspect is also a Tunisian national.
