A Democratic operative linked to the Clintons claims he was the catalyst for the Manhattan district attorney’s hush money probe into former president Donald Trump.
Lanny Davis, a lawyer for former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, told Politico that he sparked the investigation thanks in part to his political connections to Cyrus Vance Jr., the predecessor to Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg (D.). Davis said he was able to arrange interviews between Manhattan prosecutors and Cohen after Cohen was sent to prison on federal tax evasion charges. Davis, who said he knew Vance’s father from the Carter administration, also said that prosecutors visited Cohen three times at the federal penitentiary.
A reminder that the Biden Crime Family is a mere pale shadow of the Clinton Crime Family. “Goodness! Rose Law Firm billing records! How did they magically appear in the White House?”

‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ Review: Bloody, Beautiful, Bulletproof
Every character in Wick’s world thinks they’re a poet and they’re all mistaken, and yet their clumsy fortune cookie platitudes are a welcome break from the constant self-conscious, faux-witty banter of Marvel movies and Ryan Reynolds vehicles.
REVIEW: ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’
Wow. Just… wow.
If you haven’t seen the first John Wick movie, the ‘noise complaint’ scene is worth whatever you have to pay to get ahold of it. Assassin Perkins is also very easy on the eyes.

In November, Los Angeles voters backed Measure ULA, a transfer tax on big-ticket property sales that the city says will generate a new revenue stream for affordable housing projects and homelessness prevention. Known colloquially as the “mansion tax,” Measure ULA will impose a 4 percent tax on property sales above $5 million, and a 5.5 percent tax on properties above the $10 million mark.
The tax must be paid by the seller.
L.A. seems determined to drive away all of the people who pay the taxes they use for their proglodyte dreams.

There are certain peoples that one has long thought of as solid and common-sensical. Like the Australians and the Scots. But those images have been tarnished badly in recent years. In Australia’s case, it was one of the world’s most maniacal (and futile) covid shutdowns. In Scotland, it is the weird gender virus.
Well, you know, they’ve got that whole kilt thing going for them.

You seldom look to The New Yorker for support for a conservative cause, but today the storied magazine published a devastating article by Harvard Law professor Jeannie Suk Gersen on the Harvard affirmative action case now pending at the Supreme Court. The article, “The Secret Joke at the Heart of the Harvard Affirmative-Action Case,” is devastating not only on the merits, but also for the conduct and rulings of District Court Judge Allison Burroughs (an Obama appointee) who ruled in favor of Harvard at the trial phase of this momentous case.
Everyone should read the entire article—The New Yorker gives everyone a couple free articles a month—because it is impossible to summarize the richness of telling detail Prof. Gersen includes in this admirably compact piece.

The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project is suing the Justice Department for communications related to the department’s failure to apply federal law against far-left protests at the Supreme Court Justices’ homes.
The suit follows Attorney General Merrick Garland’s admission that it is a federal crime (under 18 U.S.C. § 1507) to protest outside a judge’s home with the intent of influencing that judge. Garland has not enforced that law, though both Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan requested that he do so, and in March, Garland claimed that the U.S. Marshals “on scene” make the decision “whether to make an arrest.”

If you look up “courtly southern gentleman” in a dictionary, you just might find a picture of Louisiana Senator John Kennedy (a former Democrat, by the way). He’s rapidly becoming my favorite senator in committee hearings, for his polite questions and unrancorous demeanor with Biden nominees that expose their ignorance or ideological bias. He’s bit like detective Columbo; he lets the nominees hang themselves with their own words.
This week he exposed the fact that a Biden judicial nominee for a federal district court judgeship, Kato Crews, doesn’t have the first clue about “Brady motions,” a key doctrine in criminal law. The nominee thinks it has something to do with gun control, confusing it with the Brady handgun law.

ZMan jerks back the curtain.
The German philosopher Carl Schmitt observed that politics is about the friend – enemy distinction, played out in public. Everyone has people they call friends and people they think of as adversaries or enemies. This only becomes political when others outside these relations are called upon to pick sides. Politics is about groups of people opposing one another in public and forcing others to pick sides. The winner is the one whose group dominates the others.
The thing is, it is never easy to know your friends in politics, but the only way to survive is to know your enemies. Those would be the groups whose very existence depends upon your demise. Friendships are transactional as they are situational. When your interests align with those of another faction, you are friends while you have some common interest. When conditions change, the friendship ends. Enemies are always enemies because who they are the negation of you.
This is why conservatism has never amounted to much in America. They insist that politics do not exist and instead public policy is decided by factual accuracy and the best ideas to solve problems. While the people we insist on calling the Left run around playing politics, the conservatives spend their days making impressive charts and graphs explaining why they are right. Occasionally they win an election, only to be outclassed by their opponents once in office.

Stolsig, who identified as a transgender woman by the name “Eucytus,” belonged to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a group that actively encouraged the 2020 BLM-Antifa riots.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Xavier Chango Llerena, chief of criminal investigations for the National Police of Ecuador, said authorities had found envelopes containing presumed explosive devices at four media outlets, two in Guayaquil and two in Quito, and at a parcel delivery company.

The White House press corps is a microcosm of the national media. It is overwhelmingly liberal, stuffed with Biden voters. So it was downright weird when former press secretary Jen Psaki told the Los Angeles Times she sometimes thought “I am an orderly in an insane asylum.”
The briefing room is usually a tank of hungry sharks for a Republican press secretary, and a classroom full of teacher’s pets for a Democrat press secretary. The news cycle has to be pretty negative for reporters to sound hostile to Biden’s press aides.
On March 20, black reporter Simon Ateba from an obscure website called “Today News Africa” began screaming at the very top of the briefing that current press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was not calling on him so he could ask his questions. Other reporters joined the fight, insisting Ateba press his complaints off camera.
Ateba has obviously internalized the obvious fact that black people are entitled to act in ways that would get non-black people sat on.

The European Parliament had barely voted on the idea of a global wealth tax before its attention turned to another staple of ‘democratic’ socialism: a universal basic income for everyone.
A carefully crafted proposal for a pan-European basic income was put forward by the European Commission in September last year. Formally known as the Council Recommendation on Adequate Minimum Income Ensuring Active Inclusion, the idea was the subject of a parliamentary debate on March 14th.
To be honest, it was not much of a debate. Of the two dozen speakers, Ádám Kósa of Hungary was the only unconditional opponent of the idea. Most of the rest of the speakers offered various iterations of the same argument: there are poor people in Europe, and therefore EU member states must guarantee them an adequate minimum income, AMI. Every adult in Europe would be guaranteed the AMI in lieu of other means for supporting themselves.

Elite law schools have become training academies not so much for effective and competent lawyers, but instead for militant transformational radicals with a law degree.
Mainstream consumers of legal services, otherwise known as paying clients, would be shocked by the evolution that has taken place in the nation’s elite law schools. Instead of producing lawyers capable of helping clients, these schools now turn out leftist activists who are most competent at using transformational designs to upend centuries of legal traditions and institutions, including, ultimately, the U.S. Constitution itself.
This problem isn’t new. But the shocking behavior at Stanford by rude, belligerent proto-totalitarian students shouting down a federal judge laid bare this rancid evolution for everyone to see.
The next generation of lawyers at these schools isn’t focused on learning contracts, torts, civil procedure, and evidence as much as they are learning how to destroy treasured American institutions such as tolerance, liberty, and free speech.
This is important. Too many Americans still think a law degree from Harvard means that the graduating lawyer is competent to practice law. The opposite is becoming more true.
The example of Alvin “Cocky Chipmunk” Bragg, Harvard & Harvard Law, is a good case in point. Rather than prosecuting regular criminals for what they do every day, he’s reaching back into the past to try to railroad the Left’s favorite whipping boy.

California attorney general Rob Bonta (D.) is blaming car manufacturers for the spike in car thefts that has occurred on his watch.
In a letter to Hyundai and Kia, Bonta and 22 other attorneys general on Monday claimed the carmakers helped fuel a national car theft epidemic by not installing engine immobilizers to certain vehicle models. The letter notes that over the past two years, carjacking teens launched viral TikTok tutorials on how to override certain Kia and Hyundai security devices.
But Bonta has done little to offset his state’s rise in car thefts. The attorney general boasted in 2022 that while homicides, property crime, and violent crime went up during his first year on the job, arrest rates and probation levels declined. Since taking office in 2021, Bonta has focused his efforts on investigating police and suing cities over their zoning policies as car thefts and violent crime mount. As a state legislator, Bonta helped secure softer sentencing laws and reduced jail time for felons.

For the last 50 years or so, public policy in the U.S. has trended toward the view that everyone, more or less, should go to college. This was a sharp departure from the historical norm, when higher education really was higher, and only a small minority obtained four-year degrees.
It has become increasingly evident that the payoff for sending most kids to college is minimal, both for them and for our society and economy. Hence the current trend away from four-year colleges and toward, among other things, apprenticeships. The Wall Street Journal has a long article headlined “More Students Are Turning Away From College and Toward Apprenticeships,” with the subhead “Some white-collar training programs have become as selective as Ivy League universities.” That can only be a good thing.
