Trevor Bickford, a 19-year-old man from Maine, had recently become radicalized and traveled to New York to attack the police, according to a law enforcement official.

During the interview, due to be broadcast on Sunday, Crosbie said: “I have been in difficult situations. I have surgeries, I do face-to-face surgeries where I wear a stab jacket, obviously following the murder of (fellow Conservative lawmaker) David Amess. And I have security protection as well. I think it’s important I have direct contact with my constituents. Unfortunately, this is one of the things I have to do to ensure that I can actually do the job that I was elected to do.”

Equium has developed a new thermo-acoustic heat pump core that reportedly produces 3 kW to 4 kW of heat for every kilowatt of power it consumes. It says the refrigerant-free device could generate domestic hot water at temperatures of up to 80 C.

If you would rather spend your vacation hunting for charging stations, calling customer support to try to get them to reset the charging stations, hunting for places to spend the night when your Ford Lightning runs of out charge and has to be towed, or trying to figure out why a fast charger is only giving you a trickle charge, than attending a car show in Colorado, an electric vehicle is for you!

The scam is this: ‘migrants’ row out beyond the territorial limit of the originating country (which is typically quite happy to see them go) and wait. A bleeding-heart NGO ‘rescue vessel’ will then ‘rescue’ them and carry them the rest of the way to Europe, in the sura and certain knowledge that the lily-livered Eurocrat bureaucracy will take them in and offer them ‘asylum’.
The citizens (as opposed to the ruling class) of Italy, Greece, Spain, and France are getting pretty fed up with this system-gaming scheme, as you might imagine.
Meloni’s government will soon force NGO ships flying flags from countries like France, Germany and Norway to accept the migrants they pick up in the Mediterranean Sea.

A Congress seat, and they have not.
Seriously: He’s got a guaranteed six-figure job for the next two years, and either he gets re-elected (and stranger things have happened) or he doesn’t; if he doesn’t, he’s got a possible book deal and who knows whatever offers coming through the transom–he’s already demonstrated that he’s as crooked as a dog’s hind leg. If he’s got a thick enough skin, I just don’t see any downside for him.

Peggy “High” Noonan devotes her weekly Wall Street Journal column to the case of Rep.-elect George Santos. Noonan might have gone into a trance and produced it via automatic writing. On second thought, she probably didn’t need to go into a trance to produce it, but I’ll stick with the automatic writing part. She gives us the predictable screed in “Why George Santos’s lies matter.” She advises the GOP: “They can’t afford to keep him. He is a bridge too far. He is an embarrassment.” The Journal turns over a lot of editorial page real estate to Noonan on a weekly basis for this kind of wisdom.
Francis Menton takes a slightly different angle at his aptly named Manhattan Contrarian site. Beginning where Noonan begins, Menton moves on to consider “a bunch [of political liars] I think are worse. The funny thing about these, though, is that not a single Democrat seems to care about them. All involve current officeholders, who are not subject to any widespread demands that they resign. Let’s consider.”
Peggy Noonan has been an apparatchik of the Uniparty since Bush left office.

The day after the 2022 Midterms, I heard almost every possible interpretation of the surprising results. The Democrats had done much better than expected and feared, and youth voter turnout was unusually high. On cable news and twitter, data analysts and pundits picked apart dozens of explanations and contributing factors, from the ultimately-flat Crime Wave narrative to the nationwide gratitude for student debt forgiveness. There was, however, one word I didn’t hear on CNN or twitter: COVID-19.
COVID has killed 1.1 million Americans in roughly 1,000 days, or an average of 1,100 Americans dying daily for 2 years and 10 months. Of those 1,100 daily average deaths, 93.2% were among people over the age of 50. Older Americans are well known for the high voter turnout, as well as their conservative bent.
It’s glaringly obvious that an extra 1,000 deaths of individuals over 50 every single day for nearly 3 years would have an effect on the electorate- but not a single analysis even mentioned pandemic deaths. This is frankly, very odd. I’ve worked in campaign data, and political statisticians tend to want to take every possible variable into account; from voters’ shopping preferences, to their racial background, to their likelihood to listen to K-pop, to their hair color and first car model. Yet here we have a very, very large variable, receiving no attention or weight whatsoever.

Europeans commonly believe that America does not have a welfare state. Many American conservatives share that belief, and those who do recognize that we have one, firmly believe that it is not socialist.
They are all wrong: America has a big welfare state, and it is distinctly socialist in nature. It is based on the very same ideology that underpins the Swedish welfare state.
Its foundation was laid by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964 with his so-called ‘war on poverty.’ Since then, almost every president has helped the welfare state grow.
Today, there are more similarities than differences between America’s and Europe’s welfare states. We in the U.S. do not yet have single-payer health care, and our income-security systems are not as sprawling as they are in Europe. However, the long list of social benefits that we do have operates on a socialist ideological basis: they elevate the standard of living of the gainfully employed with lower incomes, and have better-off citizens pay for it.
The modern welfare state was pioneered by Otto von Bismarck in the 19th century.

Leprosy, a chronic infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae, is one of the oldest and most persistent diseases in the world. However, new surprising research suggests that the bacteria that cause leprosy may also have the ability to stimulate the growth and regeneration of the liver in adult animals without causing damage or scarring. Scientists have discovered that parasites associated with leprosy can reprogram cells to increase the size of the liver.

Guessing the color of the coat of a gray wolf seems like a no-brainer. But the canines, whose habitats are spread across North America and Eurasia, aren’t always actually gray.
On the North American continent, specifically, the farther south you go, the more wolves there are with dark, black-hued coats. The phenomenon was unexplained for a long time, but now scientists have determined that the culprit is one of the biggest drivers of natural selection: disease.

Wood wide webs – incredible networks of fungi and plant roots that span entire forests – act as highways for nutrient deliveries as well as wires for transferring information between plants via electrical and chemical signals. These connections help strengthen a forest as a whole, by distributing resources from nutrient poor to nutrient rich areas of the network. They also allow plants to warn each other of predators and even help protect them from drought.
In exchange for these services, plants pay their fungi allies with some of the hydrocarbons they produce using photosynthesis.
But Monotropastrum betrays this mutualistic relationship by stealing all its nutrients from the fungi, offering no photosynthetic products to the network in return – making them part of a very selective mycoheterotrophic club.

Of the 100,000 “refugees” who have applied for asylum in Austria, the vast majority are young men. The report below doesn’t mention it, but that means that the newcomers are mostly men of military age. In other words, the Austrian government has been assiduously importing the Soldiers of Allah.
