Yet if the past two years have taught us anything, it’s that monocausal explanations are almost always misguided and, as a consequence, almost always ending up harming the vulnerable. As the Black Lives Matter movement mobilised following the murder of George Floyd, America descended into anarchy, fuelled by riots and slogans about systemic racism. When activists demanded that police departments be defunded, local stations were not exactly closed down, but they were intimidated to the point that many stopped serving in black neighbourhoods. The consequences of this swiftly became evident: in the same year that BLM fever seized the country, at least 8,600 black lives were lost to homicide, an increase of more than 1,000 on the year before. Thrown into a frenzy by their overzealous conviction that white racism is the root cause of all evil, BLM turned a blind eye to the large number of black Americans who were being killed, or who found themselves forced to live in neighbourhoods terrorised by gangs.

To breastfeed, or not to breastfeed? it is one of those parenting decisions that, at first pass, seems to carry little to no political import. For most people most of the time, it’s the sort of thing that you can safely ignore as someone else’s personal preference, having nothing to do with anything or anyone else—none of your business especially. And for all intents and purposes, that’s right. To challenge a new mom on how she feeds her child would be utterly presumptuous, let alone extremely rude.
But as mothers across the country scramble to find ways to feed their infants in the face of a formula shortage, people have begun to wonder—why don’t more American mothers breastfeed? It’s a good question, even if for some, it carries an air of malice and blame. Unbeknownst to the critic, the economic, political, and social environment makes things infinitely more complicated than “you’re just not trying hard enough.”

ZMan peers behind the curtain.
In America, what is called the political Left operates within a few modes of thought tied to seminal events on the Left. One if the civil right era, another is the Watergate era and the other is interwar Europe. All events are framed by this period. If they do not fit these models then they are usually ignored. Of course, their framing of these periods is cartoonish and absurd. It is all easy to understand heroes and villains, who are stripped of moral ambiguity and nuance.
What passes for the Right has always been an echo of the Left, so they have evolved similar framings. It took a while but the 1980’s is one of their primary frameworks for talking about current events. They are always looking for the next Reagan, Thatcher or Bill Buckley among the current mediocrities. Their answer to almost every issue is a slogan from the high water point of conservatism. Modern conservatism is a cargo cult where current members ape the members of the past.

The Stealth Tubeless Tag Holder is a protective three-part silicone and rubber tubeless mount for your AirTag. Its valve bases seal against your bicycle tire’s rim. The accessory’s stem protects both the rim and AirTag from impacts as it can compress and rebound under extreme loads. It can also allow sealant and air to flow so it won’t rattle inside the tire rim.
…
The product is a good idea – if someone’s going to steal your bike, it’d be pretty easy to spot an AirTag if it’s hanging by a keychain or something similar. However, this accessory seems like it could be a pain when you need to exchange or remove the AirTag. AirTag batteries only last about a year, so it’s likely you’ll need to exchange the battery multiple times within your bicycle’s lifetime.
I presume that living in a place where people are unlikely to steal your stuff is not an option.

American Islamists continue exaggerating the depth of violence in Hindu-majority India and pushing alarmist rhetoric about an impending genocide of Muslims.
“Germany 1932 is here and now in India,” warns an editorial in the May-June issue of Islamic Horizons. “It won’t matter to the latter’s 212 million Muslims when, years later, some sages clumsily whisper ‘never again’ and then snicker. And yet the U.S. State Department refused to categorize India as a ‘country of concern’ on its religious freedom list.” The editorial describes India’s democratically elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a reincarnation of Adolf Hitler.
Except that Muslims loved Hitler. The Mufti of Jerusalem was an admirer, and there was at least one Muslim SS unit formed. (They were united by their hatred of Jews.)

ZMan does a deep dive.
The term “New Right” is one of those phrases that has a long life but has never had much meaning in American politics. Bill Buckley was a member of the New Right when he got going in the middle of the last century. Later, various efforts were made to create a New Right as an alternative to the Buckley Right. As conservatism collapsed over the last decade the term has become a popular one with failed alternatives. Members of the alt-right even tried rebranding as the New Right.
The long life of the term in America, without much meaning, says more about the overall state of politics than the various efforts to create an alternative. In Europe, the term New Right has meaning, because it is a real school that has been trying to create a new politics that reflects the current age. In America, the popularity of New Right reflects the fact that there has never been a genuine Right. What passes for the Right is just a foil for the prevailing orthodoxy of the ruling class.
That reality is clearer now that at any time in the history of the empire, but there are those giving the term another shot. There are several groups competition to be the new Right to replace the rubble that is mainstream conservatism. There is a lot of interest in the mainstream in these projects as the prevailing orthodoxy works best when it has a foil to operate as a gatekeeper. Channeling popular frustration into a sterile alternative is the secret to maintaining order.

Famous, liberal Vox writer Ian Millhiser panicked Thursday after the Fifth Circuit upheld the controversial “censorship” law.
NetChoice, the plaintiff in the lawsuit to stay the law, sued Texas over the “censorship” law last year and argued that it violated the First Amendment. The injunction was overturned this week and the law went into effect.

Bernie Sanders wants to bring socialized medicine to the U.S. To be fair to Bernie, though, that is probably the position of nearly every Democrat. As a reminder of why socialized medicine (like socialism generally) is one of the worst ideas in world history, here are two stories that happen to be in the news in the U.K. today.

Islamization in Germany’s education system has currently reached a level of progress that was not assumed, even in the boldest projections of 2015/2016, when the long-term social effects of a predominantly Arab-Maghreb Muslim mass immigration under the pressure of the wave of refugees were anxiously discussed. Not just where over 90 percent of non-German students at so-called “hotspot schools” dominate everyday school life, but also wherever Muslim students are — still — in the minority, a fatal attitude of submission and docility has become entrenched among school authorities and government officials, which, in cowardly and anticipatory obedience, places avoiding conflict at all costs above even a weary remnant of cultural self-assertion.

Glenn Greenwald.
If we were to create a framework in which prominent people were held responsible for any violence carried out in the name of an ideology they advocate, then nobody would be safe, given that all ideologies have their misfits, psychopaths, unhinged personality types, and extremists. And thus there was little to no attempt to hold Maddow or Sanders responsible for the violent acts of one of their most loyal adherents.

For the very few of you who have not heard of Klausie baby, he is the chairman of the World Economic Forum, or WEF, a grandiose title and well deserved to be sure, although it once published a think piece with its since-deleted slogan that said “You will own nothing, and you’ll be happy.” The WEF is where technocratic dreams make contact with business and political biggies high up in the Swiss Alps. Personally, I think it’s a networking scam, and the media has for a long time shielded the public from its goals. Except when Forbes magazine published a WEF think piece back in 2016 that urged people to “own nothing, have no privacy, and life will never be better.”

George P. Bush is having trouble gaining traction in his race for Texas Attorney General (his stepping stone to the governorship and then the White House). He has tried really hard to shake off the family legacy of “compassionate (big government) conservatism” and “illegal immigration is an act of love,” He has tried desperately to brand himself as a MAGA Republican. But the voters aren’t buying it.
