After Bill Gates told a UK think tank earlier this month that the Covid-19 vaccine ‘helps you with your health, but only slightly reduces transmission,” a flood of people pointed out that the billionaire vaccine proponent had essentially said the quiet part out loud – admitting that the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines ‘don’t work well’ and was ‘an explicit acknowledgement that the mRNA and rAdV vaccines for COVID are not working well.’
“We didn’t have vaccines that block transmission. We got vaccines that help you with your health, but they only slightly reduce the transmission. So, we need a new way of doing the vaccines,” is the exact quote.

“We have very rigorous navigation safety procedures and they fell short of what our standard was,” said Houston, referring to the boat’s leadership triad. The incident occurred Oct. 2, and roughly a month later the service announced the commanding officer, executive officer and chief of the boat were all relieved of command.
“That safety investigation board is not complete yet. But we know enough right now and as soon as this event happened, we shared it with the operational force, so they knew what happened,” Houston said, speaking at the Naval Submarine League symposium today.

The Democratic frontrunner for Arizona governor played a central role in firing a black female staffer after she complained that she was paid less than her white male colleagues, a federal court jury found in a multimillion-dollar discrimination case.
The jury awarded that state legislative staffer, Talonya Adams, $2.75 million after it found that Adams “was being discriminated against on the basis of race or sex with respect to her pay and was terminated for that reason” in 2015. Adams blamed Arizona secretary of state Katie Hobbs (D.) for the firing, saying Hobbs—who served as minority leader in the state senate at the time—”seems wholly disconnected from people of color.”
“This was Katie Hobbs’s decision,” Adams told Phoenix-based 12 News. “I think she’s always been very uncomfortable with minorities. She seems wholly disconnected from people of color.”

A widespread view is that, yeah, sure, human genetic evolution used to be important, but then we invented culture maybe 10,000 years ago when we invented agriculture, and since then it’s been all cultural evolution. C0chran and Harpending argued instead in the Ten Thousand Year Explosion that recent rapid cultural evolution brought about moreselection pressure for genetic evolution. Today’s new paper is in line with their view.

Major endorsements from former president Barack Obama and Rep. Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.) failed to deliver Democrats a mayoral victory in Columbia, S.C., a city the party has controlled for decades.
Daniel Rickenmann, a Republican businessman, on Tuesday defeated Democratic attorney Tameika Isaac Devine by 4 points to become Columbia’s next mayor. A slew of prominent national Democrats, including Obama, Clyburn, and Democratic National Committee chairman Jaime Harrison, backed Devine in the race.

The movement to defeat race-obsessed left-wing school board members is a worthy one. It can be expected to improve public school education. However, there are limits to what even a conservative school board can do to limit woke instruction in the classroom.
At the end of the day, education will always be in the hands of teachers. And public school teachers will always be leftists compared to the population in the area. Even in conservative parts of the country, many public school teachers are leftists, and just comparatively.
That’s why private schools and home schooling have an important role to play in preventing leftist indoctrination at the K-12 levels. Ideology apart, they also have an important role to play in ensuring quality education at these levels.

We know about the FBI raids mostly through the four stories the New York Times has devoted to the subject. The fourth of the Times stories is dated November 11. The Times gives no hint of the possible government misconduct involved in the raids and the apparent leaks to the Times.
Given the bylines on the four stories, the Times seems to be serving as a conduit for its friends in high law enforcement/national security places. In its capacity as a conduit for the publication of classified national security information, the Times itself is a recidivist offender against the laws of the United States. The gravity of the Times’s wrongdoing far exceeds the misconduct O’Keefe et al. could have committed in this case, if any. The backdrop of the Times’s wrongdoing sets its O’Keefe stories — both what they say and what they don’t — in an acid context.

President Joe Biden’s pick to oversee $1.2 trillion in infrastructure spending is a top adviser to a trade organization that seeks Chinese investment in American infrastructure.
Mitch Landrieu serves as strategic adviser to the United States China Heartland Association, which supports cultural and business exchange between China and 20 states in the American heartland. The association frequently partners with Chinese Communist Party front groups that operate abroad.
Landrieu’s position with the Heartland Association could raise eyebrows given the organization’s promotion of Chinese investment in domestic infrastructure projects. American officials have expressed concern that the Chinese government and state-linked companies use infrastructure investments in foreign countries to influence policy abroad. Heartland Association chairman Bob Holden, the former Democratic governor of Missouri, this year urged Chinese investment in U.S. infrastructure, saying it presents a “win-win” for both sides.
Landrieu is an old-time well-connected Louisiana Democrat politician, former Mayor of New Orleans and Lieutenant Governor of the state.

A Russian test of a direct ascent anti-satellite weapon has created a field of around 1,500 pieces of space debris, putting global systems and even the International Space Station at risk, the US government confirmed Monday afternoon.
For hours Monday, the Pentagon was careful not to confirm anything as rumors swirled — and expert sleuths poured over data — about Russia having knowingly created a new debris field by destroying on of its satellites. One military source told Breaking Defense it “looks like” the debris was caused by a ground-launched missile; that same source claimed around 1,500 pieces of debris have now been thrown wildly into orbit.
That debris figure, as well as Russia’s role in the situation, was officially confirmed by State Department spokesman Ned Price, who said “Russia’s dangerous and irresponsible behavior jeopardizes the long term sustainability of our space and clearly demonstrates that Russia’s claims of opposing the weapons and weaponization of space are disingenuous and hypocritical.”

European Union foreign ministers are expected to approve measures to widen sanctions on Belarus, including the targeting of national airlines and even travel agents identified as facilitating the mass transit of Middle East asylum seekers toward EU borders. The fresh sanctions come days after President Alexander Lukashenko threatened to cut off natural gas supplies which run through Belarus to Europe – a threat which Russia immediately distanced itself from.
Poland’s Defense Ministry on Monday decried that “More and more groups of migrants are being brought to the Kuznica border crossing by Belarusian forces,” which appeared to be confirmed in the latest videos widely circulating on social media. Deputy Interior Minister Maciej Wasik said there are currently “thousands of migrants” at the crossing, with officials still warning about the prospect of armed confrontation. On this note, some newly emerged videos appear to show shots fired at the border…

UK police are investigating an attempted terrorist attack after a blast went off in a taxi outside a hospital in Liverpool. It doesn’t appear, however, that the vehicle reached its intended target due to the heroic actions of the taxi driver.
The bomber died in the blast, with the taxi driver escaping the car alive – after the driver had stopped the car in the middle of the road and reportedly locked the doors to prevent the bomber’s escape with the device. The harrowing ordeal began – as BBC recounts – like any usual pick-up, but at some point the driver David Perry was alerted by the bomber’s device.

A popular topic on this side of the great divide is who is and who is not a grifter, a shill or controlled opposition. The general assumption is that the people with perches in Conservative Inc. are working some sort of con. Maybe their racket is to keep people from looking over the great divide. These are the gatekeepers. Others may co-opt a dissident idea and then neuter it. They say things like Critical Race Theory is actually an attack on nonwhites so white people can oppose it.
Often forgotten is that the other side has their fair share of grifters who make a comfortable living working the true believers. Here is an example from the Daily Beast of what can be called woo-woo for the wokies. The writer is telling them that their newly minted hero, Liz Cheney, and an old has-been named Chris Christie, will give Trump a run for his money in the 2024 Republican primary. The Twitter thread on this topic is an amusing window into political mental illness.

With Belarus’ longtime strongman ruler Alexander Lukashenko in the international spotlight over this past week as tensions soar with Poland over the migrant border crisis, he’s been touting his close relationship with Putin while also threatening to shut off the Yamal natural gas pipeline to Europe – something which Putin warned against in fresh statements this weekend.
The threat to shut off energy supplies to Europe is something the Kremlin has distanced itself from, given especially it puts Russia in an awkward position at a moment the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is in the last hurdles of German regulatory approval. The Belarus matter can now be use by critics of NS2 to further their argument that Russia is being handed too much geopolitical and resource leverage over Europe’s energy independence. The fight over the Russia-to-Germany pipeline is not over.

In covering the motions hearing last week in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, I noted a surprising comment from Judge Bruce Schroeder that he had “spent hours” with the Wisconsin gun law and could not state with certainty what it means in this case.
The statement could effectively knock out the misdemeanor gun possession count — the one count that could still be in play for the jury after the prosecution’s case on the more serious offense appeared to collapse in court. A close examination of that provision reveals ample reason to question not just its meaning but its application to this case.
Note the picture: Rittenhouse was well trained and conscientious in gun safety.
