Students at one Seattle elementary school are getting an unexpected lesson in sharing, as district officials are refusing assistance from the city to remove a homeless encampment on school grounds until all of the vagrants are placed in shelters, according to KOMO.
Students returned to campus for in-person classes earlier this month.
Hey, what could go wrong?

On Wednesday night, MSNBC displayed the leftist media’s denial of reality as MSNBC contributor Eugene Robinson insisted that Georgia’s new voting law is almost a “total verbatim repeat” of the “Jim Crow” era even after such hyperbole has been thoroughly debunked.
Ali Velshi — filling in on MSNBC’s The 11th Hour — set up his guest by posing: “I guess part of the issue is that people need to see these things in black and white, and Governor Brian Kemp says there’s nothing Jim Crow about this law. Of course, the President himself said these feel like Jim Crow laws. What’s your take on whether it is or isn’t?”
Robinson — who serves as associate editor for the Washington Post where he is also a columnist — doubled down on the left’s over the top claims of racism….

In southern Spain (Malaga province, just east of the Straits of Gibraltar), a March 2021 police raid on a drug gang coastal warehouse found a ten-meter (31 foot) narco-sub (drug smuggling submersible vessel) under construction and nearly completed. The sub had a fiberglass and wood hull containing twin 200 HP engines. The sub could carry about two tons of drugs. This type of narco sub is used for offshore transfers of drugs from ocean-going fishing trawlers or cargo ships carrying cocaine from South America or hashish and heroin from Africa. Belgium and Spain are major centers of the European drug trade and together account for about ten percent of the drug seizures worldwide.
Building narco subs in Europe was suspected after the long-anticipated appearance of South American narco-subs in Europe finally happened in November 2019. This occurred off the Spanish coast when a trans-Atlantic narco-sub was having engine and ventilation problems made worse by rough seas. The three-man crew was discovered by police as they were abandoning the sinking narco-sub close to shore. Two of the crew, both from Ecuador, were arrested while the third man got away but was captured a few days later and found to be Spanish and the pilot of the sub.

Republican New York Assemblyman Colin Schmitt slammed Democrats in his state on Thursday over their policies that he said were driving New Yorkers to leave for other states.
Schmitt, who is running for Congress in New York’s 18th congressional district, argued on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that the actions of Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and “the radical left,” have transformed “the empire state” into “the exodus state.”

San Francisco residents are abandoning the city in droves, with a large number leaving to Texas and Florida, according to a report released Thursday by the commercial realty firm CBRE Group.
The city lost the most residents out of every major city between 2019 and 2020, with 70 percent moving to nearby Sacramento, according to data that was gathered from the United States Postal Service records through a Freedom of Information Act request.
Moves to Texas increased by 32.1 percent and to Florida by 46.2 percent.

No one expects transit agencies to work very hard to provide safe, efficient services taking people where they need to go. But sometimes urban residents need a reminder that it is their job to rearrange their lives and risk their health and safety to insure that transit has enough riders to justify the huge subsidies it receives.
At least, that’s the opinion of Chicago Sun-Time columnist Laura Washington, who urges Chicago residents to “get on the L or bus. Or both.” After all, she reasons, “If riders don’t return to the CTA [Chicago Transit Authority], Metra [commuter trains] and Pace [suburban buses], look for layoffs, service cuts and hefty fare hikes.” Her view is enthusiastically endorsed by Streetsblog Chicago.

Scandal-plagued First Family member Hunter Biden continued his book tour late Thursday with a softball-laden interview with ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who assisted him in not only dismissing the infamous laptop as “a red herring” because it came from Rudy Giuliani, but declare that he was eminently qualified to served on the board of Burisma.
Unsurprisingly, Kimmel and Biden did not address the breaking news from hours earlier when the Daily Mail published more of what they said were contents of Biden’s laptop, including naked photos of Biden with prostitutes.

Eight law enforcement officials, including three policemen and five members of a local anti-jihadist force, were killed in a jihadist attack in Burkina Faso on Tuesday. Jihadist raids on two military bases in Somalia, using suicide car bombers, killed 23 on Saturday. On Friday, South Africa decided to deploy its troops in bordering Mozambique, days after Islamist militants took over the town of Palma, killing dozens of locals and forcing thousands to flee.
The past week is only a sample of the jihadist peril currently engulfing Africa. These terror attacks reaffirm the growing strength of the world’s deadliest jihadist groups, including al-Shabaab, Isis, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and their affiliates. The global ramifications of the snowballing jihadist insurgency in the continent can be gauged by French energy firm Total withdrawing its staff from Mozambique; the thwarting of UNICEF and the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts in Somalia; or the Joe Biden regime reaffirming its presence in Burkina Faso and other Sahel states to ‘prevent attacks on US soil’.

Vogue Magazine is re-affirming once again that its days of being a fashion magazine are over and that it’s a full on far left political propaganda outfit. The publication’s latest cover features the young 20-something Amanda Gorman, the “poet” who puts far left political punditry to a meter and calls it art.
Yeah, she’s the kind of once-in-a-generation artist that makes lyrics out of Planned Parenthood slogans. Who wouldn’t want a young woman who rhymes about a woman’s right to kill their unborn children to be the “first ever” poet on the cover of Vogue Magazine?
When ‘poet’ means ‘black person hating on whites’, does it really matter?
How small of all that human hearts endure
The part that laws or kings can cause or cure.
Let’s see Maya Angelou come even close to touching real poetry.

ZMan looks at ‘conversations’.
Elections in America have always been contentious things, as the point of them is to get all sides as agitated as possible. If you wanted to find the point at which our elections turned ugly it would be when the concept of turnout became the focus. The surest way to get your guys motivated to vote is to convince them that the alternative is pure evil, the worst thing imaginable. Since one side will always lose, it means something close to half the country is always angry at the result.
…
How do you reach a compromise with someone who thinks invisible men from a faraway land used mind control to change an election? On top of that, they were perfectly willing to destroy the country over it. If one side is sure the other side is evil, there can never be a compromise. The best you can get is a truce in the hostilities, but eventually one side will attack again. After all, any compromise with evil is immoral on its face, so the only more thing to do is confront it.

The Belgian plod says it seized 27.64 tons of cocaine worth €1.4bn (£1.2bn, $1.65bn) from shipments into Antwerp in the past six weeks after defeating the encryption in the Sky ECC chat app to read drug smugglers’ messages.
“During a judicial investigation into a potential service criminal organization suspected of knowingly providing encrypted telephones to the criminal environment, police specialists managed to crack the encrypted messages from Sky ECC,” the Belgian police claimed, CNN reports.
“This data provides elements in current files, but also opened up new criminal offenses. The international smuggling of cocaine batches plays a prominent role in intercepted reports.”
Good practice for the next war.

Does the name Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa ring a bell? What about Noah Green? Only the true news junkies, with a gift for remembering trivia, will recall their names at this point. Which is remarkable, because Mr. Alissa killed ten people in a Boulder grocery store two weeks ago, and Mr. Green killed a police officer at the U.S. Capitol one week ago. Both crimes led to ubiquitous headlines, across all media platforms, as soon as they happened, as you might expect. But then, the strangest thing happened. They disappeared. Poof! They just vanished.
Both killers were Muslim, which prevents the stories from being covered. Leftist news sources like CNN ignored the stories, because they are unhelpful to our mass media’s stated goals of promoting the Democrat party. Right-wing news sources like Fox News ignored the stories, to avoid the appearance of discriminating against Muslims or other minorities. So guess what that means? That means that nobody can cover stories like this. So poof! They’re gone!

One of the dumbest of all the anti-Trump conventions was the “without evidence” trope. This was a single-use smear, analogous to an old-fashioned Derringer. The Democratic Party press fired it once, and we will never see it again. Certainly not while a Democrat is in the White House.
The concept was stupid, since politicians say things all the time for which they do not, at that moment, provide “evidence.” Over the last four years, it was even worse than that, since Democratic Party news outlets like the Washington Post ritually repeated the “without evidence” claim even though such evidence had been provided, often in copious detail, but not in the same sentence.

“Government must be a powerful force for good in the lives of Americans,” White House National Economic Council Director Brian Deese announced on March 29. This is the core principle of President Joe Biden’s promise to “change the paradigm” with his $3 trillion stimulus package which seeks to pour vast amounts of tax dollars into dozens of government programs that have dismally failed in the past. But thanks to Biden’s election, the federal government has suddenly become far more competent than ever before.
To have confidence in the American Jobs Plan, it is not enough to believe that additional spending is needed for repairing bridges, paving roads, or boosting child care. Instead, one must believe that the damning revelations from all the inspectors general and Government Accountability Office reports in recent decades are null and void. A vast increase in outlays will achieve miraculous results because there is no resemblance between federal agencies commanded by Biden appointees and the same agencies in the past half century. The notion that “government must be a powerful force for good” is premised on the notion that Biden himself is such an inexorable “force for good” that history no longer applies inside the Beltway.

President Joe Biden appointed Vice President Kamala Harris to oversee the administration’s response to the crisis at the border 15 days ago, but she has not yet made a visit.
Harris was appointed March 24, and as of April 7 had not announced any plans to visit the southern border. When a reporter mentioned that Harris hadn’t visited the border and asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki if Harris was still working on addressing the crisis, Psaki said that the vice president had stopped for a snack “like many Americans.”

The Georgia lawmaker who was arrested after knocking on the door of the governor’s office as he made televised comments in support of the sweeping, controversial new election law he’d just signed will not be charged, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Rep. Park Cannon, an Atlanta Democrat, was arrested March 25 and charged with obstruction of law enforcement and disruption of the General Assembly. She was released from jail later that evening.
“While some of Representative Cannon’s colleagues and the police officers involved may have found her behavior annoying, such sentiment does not justify a presentment to a grand jury of the allegations in the arrest warrants or any other felony charges,” Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said in an emailed statement.
And so she’ll keep doing it , and doing it, and doing it, until she actually gets charged with something.
This is why we see so many violent protests — the protesters, even when they are arrested, are held for a while and then sent on their way. So they internalize the belief that breaking the law for political purposes is free. And they’ll continue to do it.

A review.
In the 2019 British general election, the Labour Party was eviscerated, losing 60 seats and handing the Conservative Party a massive 80-seat majority. The most dramatic repudiation came in the Midlands and the North, where seats that had never voted Conservative fell to the Tories. It was an electoral catastrophe, and Paul Embery’s book Despised: Why the Modern Left Loathes the Working Class is intended to provide an autopsy and an analysis of the Left’s deeper ideological and cultural errors.
Embery comes from within the left-conservative, Blue Labour tradition of Tory Socialists like John Ruskin—a left-wing form of post-liberal politics that leans left on economics and right on culture. Cultural distinction without exclusion; relationality over autonomy; community self-help over government centralisation. In clean, clear prose over 200 pages, he mourns the destruction of his party as a serious political force, and sets out what he thinks it must do if it is to be able to fight again effectively.

Naomi Hasegawa’s family sells toasted mochi out of a small, cedar-timbered shop next to a rambling old shrine in Kyoto. The family started the business to provide refreshments to weary travelers coming from across Japan to pray for pandemic relief — in the year 1000.
Now, more than a millennium later, a new disease has devastated the economy in the ancient capital, as its once reliable stream of tourists has evaporated. But Ms. Hasegawa is not concerned about her enterprise’s finances.
