Musk cited business interests as the primary reason for the move in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. Tesla is opening a new factory outside Austin and SpaceX uses a launch site in south Texas, according to The Verge.
Musk said that California had become complacent and too used to “winning” like a dominant sports team might. “They do tend to get a little complacent, a little entitled, and then they don’t win the championship anymore,” Musk told the Journal.

Governor Walz is talking faster and faster about less and less. Yesterday he appeared at the regularly scheduled press briefing with Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm and Infectious Disease Division Director Kris Ehresmann (video below). They announced a shift in the recommended quarantine guidelines consistent with last week’s revised CDC guidance. Walz contributed approximately nothing to the discussion. He loves to hear himself talk.
My impression from listening in yesterday is that we are on the other side of the current wave of the epidemic. Fatalities reported over the past three days numbered 75 (12/5, 43 in long-term care facilities and other congregate care settings), 64 (12/6, 38 LTC residents), and 21 (12/7, 8 LTC residents). As I understand their remarks, new cases also seem to have moderated. Before declaring progress, however, they await the dreaded Thanksgiving effect on case numbers that they anticipate in the data this week.

A team of University of Arkansas physicists has successfully developed a circuit capable of capturing graphene’s thermal motion and converting it into an electrical current.
“An energy-harvesting circuit based on graphene could be incorporated into a chip to provide clean, limitless, low-voltage power for small devices or sensors,” said Paul Thibado, professor of physics and lead researcher in the discovery.

The National Association of Realtors claims to have 1.4 million members. There will be fewer members before long as the association begins purging conservative real estate agents.
At the center of the storm was an addition to Article 10 which covers various forms of discrimination. But unlike all the previous sections which addressed how real estate professionals interacted with customers, Article 10-5 is catchall cancel culture that controls what real estate agents say on social media on their own private accounts and in their free time.
This goes far beyond being made to bake a cake. Even if you’re at home and you post something opposed to gay marriage or illegal migration, you can lose your business.

Why did teachers get into teaching if they didn’t like to actually teach? It appears more and more likely that many decided to become teachers just in order to have a guaranteed paycheck and shorter hours with summers off? I’m sorry to sound jaded, but the response to this pandemic by unions, who represent teachers, has been to exploit the situation to buy themselves a year and counting of working from home, to heck with the consequences for kids. One of the biggest unions in the country is straight-up gaslighting Americans about what game they’re playing, posting on Twitter yesterday.

The group shouted with bullhorns and held signs during the evening protest, where individuals contested the results of the race between President-elect Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, according to video. Genevieve Peters, who took the footage while donning a “Trump 2020” snow hat, called the election “bullshit,” before police eventually arrived at the scene, the video showed.
“We are over here in the fricking dead of night, man,” Peters said, according to the Washington Examiner. “We are letting her know that we’re not taking this bullshit election, we are not standing down, we are not giving up. You are not going to take this election from a man that has earned it completely 100% by a freaking landslide. Let me tell you: This ain’t over.”

The group of 28 state Republican legislative members and members-elect, including Arizona House Majority Leader Warren Petersen, will announce Monday their view that the number of fraud allegations warrant an investigation.
“The election should not have been certified with the number of irregularities and allegations of fraud. Especially troubling to me are the allegations surrounding the vendor Dominion,” Petersen said in the press release. “It is imperative that a forensic audit occur immediately of the equipment and software. Upon any showing of fraud the legislature should immediately convene to decertify the vote.”

James O’Keefe of Project Veritas, in the ultimate trolling coup of the year, monitored and recorded CNN’s morning conference call with CNN President Jeff Zucker and other company executives and reporters for some two months. O’Keefe has released the first batch of audiotapes from those calls, which confirm the network’s anti-Donald Trump, pro-Joe Biden bias.
Exposing CNN’s liberal bias is no bombshell, as it is self-evident to any objective viewer, but it is deliciously affirming to hear these legacy media frauds betray their corruption in their own words. There’s no explaining away their admissions of news doctoring in these tapes.
The recordings prove that the executives not only dictate the network’s editorial slant but also manipulate its news side in deciding what stories will be reported and how they will be presented — to ensure that Trump is portrayed in a negative light and Biden is protected at all costs.

OK, so on the one hand you have sworn affidavits from observers saying that supervisors told ballot counters to go home for the evening shortly after 10 p.m. and a video showing everyone leaving en masse at that time. And on the other hand, you have two government officials promising that no one was told that counting was over.

John Hinderaker at PowerLine.
Did Joe Biden and the Democrats steal this year’s presidential election? Polls suggest that a great many Americans, including many Democrats, believe that they did. I don’t know whether the election was stolen or not. I will say this: the Democrats went to great lengths to commit, or enable, voter fraud. To cite just a couple of examples, in a number of states, including my own, they used corrupt, collusive litigation to eliminate the minimal safeguards that prevented fraudulent mail-in votes from being submitted, like the requirement that signatures be witnessed. Why would they do this? Obviously, they didn’t want those safeguards to stand in the way of fraud.
And in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Detroit, Democrats locked Republican poll watchers out of the buildings where mail-in votes were being evaluated and tabulated. The Republicans had to get court orders just to be admitted to the premises, long after counting was under way. Why would the Democrats lock out Republicans? Because they intended to count the votes honestly?

The first presidential election in which the District of Columbia participated was in 1964. Before that, DC was excluded from presidential elections. It was designed as a neutral site, for Americans to meet to discuss their differences and to establish our government. The Democrat Party pushed hard, for years, to add DC to presidential elections. And you can certainly understand why. Those who prefer big government, like Democrats, tend to gravitate to DC.
…
I think this illustrates why the Republican Party needs someone with the personality of Donald Trump. Who else can be effective in a town in which 95% of the people hate you? I couldn’t work there. Could you? But he seems to thrive on the combat. So not only can I understand why he was elected, but perhaps that is the only realistic option that Republicans have, for the foreseeable future.
The genial Reagan/Bush types may no longer be an option. Not if we want to get anything done. It appears that we need Donald Trump, or somebody like him. I’m not saying that’s good or bad. I’m just saying that’s the way it is.

Oddly enough, I have no problem hating Biden, just as I have no problem liking Trump.
The key is in not focusing on what he says, but on what he does. Regardless of what Trump says, he does good things. Regardless of what Biden says (or almost says), he does bad things.
Biden is more or less guilty of all of the things that people have been saying (falsely) about Trump.
Who couldn’t hate a guy like that?

Flush with cash, city dwellers from New York City have been panic buying condos in the suburbs as homes in these outline areas become too pricey, according to Bloomberg.
Following the virus pandemic, social unrest, and surge in violent crime, an exodus of New Yorkers have fled to the surrounding rural communities over the last eight or so months. Dwindling supply of suburban homes created the next chapter in the flight out of the city; that is, buying interest for apartments in suburbia has erupted this fall.

“We assembled five genes from maize that code for five enzymes in the C4 photosynthetic pathway into a single gene construct and installed it into rice plants,” said lead author Dr. Maria Ermakova, who works at The Australian National University (ANU), as part of the international C4 Rice Project, led by Oxford University.
Rice, one of the main world food staples, uses the less efficient C3 photosynthetic pathway. Scientists predict that the introduction of the more efficient C4 photosynthesis traits into rice can potentially increase photosynthetic efficiency by fifty percent, improve nitrogen use efficiency and double water use efficiency.

In October, the Seattle City Council floated legislation to provide an exemption from prosecution for misdemeanor crimes for any citizen who suffers from poverty, homelessness, addiction, or mental illness.
Under the proposed ordinance, courts would have to dismiss all so-called “crimes of poverty” — which, according to the city’s former public-safety advisor, would cover more than 90 percent of all misdemeanor cases citywide. In effect, the legislation would create a new class of “untouchables,” protected from consequences by the city’s powerbrokers.

Wonder why comedy feels like it’s on life support these days?
Just give the latest edition of “SmartLess” a listen. You’ll figure at least part of it out.
The podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, is described as a show that “connects and unites people from all walks of life to learn about shared experiences through thoughtful dialogue and organic hilarity.”
The hosts’ idea of “shared experiences,” sadly, is bowing to Cancel Culture and slamming anyone who doesn’t self identify as “liberal.”
