It has often been observed that progressives are re-segregating some areas of the country, especially college campuses. But Minnesota has never been segregated, so our progressives are boldly venturing to segregate our citizens by race for the first time.

Tucker Carlson lit the New York Times ablaze Monday night after one of its own interview subjects was murdered in a racially motivated attack in South Africa.
Four men entered 62-year-old vineyard owner Stefan Smit’s Western Cape home and shot him dead as he was having Sunday dinner with his friends and family. Smit became the latest victim in the struggle between white landholders and black South Africans living in poverty who believe the land should be redistributed to them as reparations.
We saw this same scenario play out in Zimbabwe, with horrible results for both blacks and whites.
Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.

Because I teach kids robotics, I get to see the dexterity of kids and how long it takes to develop. While our robot kids were doing LEGO for several years, they were pretty good already but the transition to screws, nuts, plyers and screwdrivers was the hardest thing they had to tackle all year. One guy kept snapping the heads off screws, permanently ruining parts we couldn’t now get the screw body out from.
So what is happening to our kids? Well, this article goes over how we have removed shop, hobbies and other activities that develop good hand eye coordination, dexterity and three-dimensional thinking from our kids daily life. Parents would rather give babies an iPad that work with them and the frustration of LEGOs or heaven forbid, have them help them with tools.
This points up an increasing problem. It doesn’t just affect surgeons and dentists — it also spells problems finding carpenters, plumbers, electricians, machinists, welders … you name it, if it requires good hand/eye coordination, we are soon going to be running short. There are a lot of things robots still can’t do.

Before the emails roll in telling me that I “don’t science,” I’m well aware that the theory of natural selection was about genetic changes that occur over a series of generations. However, the point remains that once upon a time, being stupid got you killed. And no one got sued. The person who couldn’t figure out that some ill-conceived idea was a bad one faced the consequences. If the consequences didn’t kill them, they learned not to do the stupid thing again, making them just a teeny bit smarter and more equipped to deal with the world. Some who believe our planet is overpopulated might even argue that the obsolescence of natural selection is the root cause of the people boom.
But now, we are coddled, cautioned, and warned out of needing to think for ourselves. Another evolutionary theory says that when some trait or characteristic goes unused, it disappears after a few generations. Sort of like those cave fish that don’t have any eyes, After multiple generations deep underground in the pitch black, their eye sockets are now empty. Perhaps after multiple generations without the need for critical thought and common sense, those in “civilized societies” are going to evolve into creatures with their own empty spots where something useful was previously.

Two attendees of the Bronx Community Board 11 meeting, including the board’s chairman and district manager, say that military veterans Silvio Mazzella and Anthony Vitaliano walked out of a private meeting with Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Ocasio-Cortez reportedly held a closed-door meeting with her constituency in the Bronx Wednesday, when two military veterans allegedly walked out on account of the congresswoman’s anti-American rhetoric.
Good for them.

The defining feature of American Conservatism since the rise of Buckley and National Review is that it managed to conserve nothing. In fact, the movement was largely born out of the Civil Rights Movement, in which the New Right, as they were called then, conceded the right of free association to the Left. From that point forward, conservatism in America was mostly just a modification of Progressivism, often following it around like a shadow from one new radical idea to the next.

Most of us can rant endlessly about the evils of the academy, and a cursory reading of any newspaper will reveal some absolutely batshit crazy event on some college campus. In spite of the ocassional flash of rational thought, the trend in American universities is clear; they are descending into madness. No thoughts of education, just a mad rush to the next mile marker on the road to a perfect idea-free hive of rigid orthodoxy.

In the old Soviet Union, the Communists allegedly used the term “useful idiot” to describe Westerners whose naïve political views furthered the Soviet agenda, even though these Westerners didn’t realize that they were being exploited in such fashion. It is in this context that I confidently declare that American economists have been useful idiots for the green socialists pushing extreme climate change policies. The radical environmentalists were quite happy to embrace the economic concepts of “Pigovian negative externalities” and a carbon tax in the past, but now that it is impossible for economic science to endorse their desired agenda, the activists have discarded the entire field as hopelessly out of touch. Economists who still support a carbon tax and other climate “mitigation policies” should be aware of the bigger picture.

To Stelter, the fact that there wasn’t any wall-to-wall coverage was a bad thing, that it meant we’re becoming totally desensitized to news like this. I too worry about this possibility, especially given how many mass shootings we’ve had since Columbine. What Stelter doesn’t seem to acknowledge, however, is the role the media has played in that increase.
Scott Adams is of the same opinion. He would prefer if the name of the shooter were never mentioned on the news.

Software giant Salesforce will no longer allow retailers who sell some types of firearms to use its software, the Washington Post reports.
Well, that ought to make the decision about what CRM software to use a bit easier. Speaking as someone who has had to attempt to connect to SalesForce data for reporting purposes, I’v e never been impressed with the quality of their software.
This is the principle defect in the whole ‘software as a service’ concept. If you buy the software, you can use it or not, as you please. If you are merely renting the software, then the vendor can cut you off for any damned reason it pleases, including political correctness. This is why I don’t pay for streaming music services — the convenience doesn’t compensate for the insecurity. Never base your life on a service provided by someone else if you can avoid it; and, if you must, make sure that there are alternatives.

You will note that the higher the component of human labor, the higher the real price increases. Fields that have experienced low automation and therefore low increased productivity are the worst culprits; people are less efficient than machines. Once the logjam breaks and somebody figures out how to apply automation effectively to education and health care, things will get much better very quickly. Until then, we’re stuck doing it The Old Way, which sucks.
