The nonprofit organization building a coalition of states that favor choosing the president by popular vote promotes itself as nonpartisan, but is financed by millions of dollars from left-leaning groups.
Some of the leaders of the movement are prominent Republicans, and most of the funding for the nonprofit, National Popular Vote Inc., has come from a wealthy Democrat and a billionaire Independent.

Progressive sports media’s anti-Christian “jihad” reached a new level of ridiculousness Sunday as an Outsports blogger attacked In-N-Out Burger because the Liberty University team ate a post-game meal there after its first-round victory in the NCAA basketball tournament Friday night.
Associating with Christians. How hateful. Burn the witch!

It isn’t all that meaningful to debate whether the inverted yield curve in the U.S. that occurred Friday will lead to a recession a year from now. Nothing is written in stone. Whether one comes to pass or not doesn’t validate nor negate the signal one way or the other.
Women and minorities hardest hit, etc. etc.

Steve Sailer turns over a rock.
With all the current emphasis on hearing from too-long suppressed Voices of Intersectional Diversity, we are getting a crash course in what Women of Color have on their minds. Which often turns out to be: Let’s talk about how adorable I am. Let’s complain about how white racism causes white people to constantly talk about how adorable I am.

Back in December I brought you the latest social science findings about the ideological meaning of . . . coffee choices. Sure enough, liberals do drink more lattes than conservatives, in part, the authors of the study speculated, because a preference for latte could somehow be connected to a more cosmopolitan, internationalist outlook, whereas the xenophobia of conservatives inclined them against liking Eurotrash beverages. Whatever. But the joke was on the latte liberals, as the authors noted that lattes actually have more domestic content than the average black cup of joe, because the milk came from all-American cows. I’m guessing, by the way, that latte liberals haven’t thought through how their lattes will suffer when the Green Nude Eel eradicates all those farting cows. (Sorry, but almond and soy milk just don’t cut it.)
I think vegetarians count as prey. What do you think?

Look, prior to his capture by the North Vietnamese he was the military equivalent of Beto O’Rourke. If his father and grandfather hadn’t been Admirals he would have been passed over for promotion before he made Commander and had to go to work for a living. His main claim to fame as a Navy officer was how hard he could party and what sort of Black Sheep Squadron hijinks he could get up to.
While ie was a POW he behaved heroically, no one questions that. Sometimes people, when you step on them, prove that there’s a hard center to all that softness. But that doesn’t give you a pass for the rest of your life. And it’s the rest of his life that we’re talking about.
Once he got back, he resumed being a consummate jerk. He divorced his crippled first wife, who had kept the faith with him through his captivity, to marry a rich blonde. He ran as a solid conservative Republican in order to get elected to the Senate and then turned around and sold out his party whenever he got the notion. He was famous for being one of the chief RINOs in Washington, and for saying shit about people he didn’t like that Trump would never dream of.
Trump never said anything about McCain until after McCain had spent time bad-mouthing Trump. McCain was the source of the ‘dossier’ that sparked the Mueller investigation that has gone on for two years and cost the taxpayers millions of dollars for absolutely nothing except sending a bunch of small fry to jail for ‘process crimes’ that would never have occurred had it not been for the investigation.
Worst of all, John McCain, AFTER HAVING CAMPAIGNED ON GETTING RID OF OBAMACARE, cast the single vote that blocked Obamacare repeal BECAUSE HE WAS IN A SNIT ABOUT TRUMP. That failure has caused thousands of people millions of dollars in health care expense just because of personal pique. Whatever bad thing you can say about Trump, John McCain was just as bad, if not worse.
Sure, I’ll criticize John McCain. Call on me any time.

If you were to transport someone from the 1980’s to our age, they would be amazed by some things, like HD TV’s and streaming services. They would probably be a bit disappointed that the internet has not advanced very far or that cars are still pretty much the same as they were forty years ago. Of course, even the most jaded man of the 80’s would be shocked at the cultural revolution that has taken place. The thing that would be most shocking though, is the total collapse in social trust.

Veronique de Rugy lays it out.
I get why so many are devoting such amounts of energy to this task. First, the likes of Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and few others have made the notion of socialism acceptable in some circles and even hip. Also, according to a poll from August, for the first time since Gallup has asked the question, more Democrats approve of socialism than of capitalism.
However, if all we do is talk about how Venezuela is a hellhole and Cuba is a terrible place, I fear that we might end up being the modern equivalent of Don Quixote fighting the windmill.

We have far too many colleges in this country, and far too many college students. The current crisis is caused by taxpayers being made to guarantee student debt on the part of people who don’t have the brainpower to succeed in college.

When Beau Jessup came up with an idea to help Chinese families name their babies, even she thought it was a bit far-fetched.
The then 16-year-old was still in high school when a trip to China with her father sparked her now multimillion-dollar business venture, Special Name, which helps Chinese families choose a culturally appropriate name for their child.
Within the first six months of launching back in 2015, Beau made more than $A84,000 helping name more than 200,000 Chinese babies.

ZMan turns over a rock.
Way back at the dawn of the internet age, the people paid to promote the interests of the ruling elite came up with the phrase “new economy” to describe the rise of electronic commerce. The idea was that it was not just a different way of doing the same stuff, internet sites instead of catalogs, for example, but a new type of economics. The old idea of a business having a building, employees and profits, was being replaced by the virtual business that existed as idea on-line, without a defined physical presence.
This idea that we were about to step through the barrier between the world governed by classical economics into a new world controlled by new economics was very popular with the business press. Guys like James Glassman wrote books about stock valuations based on this new form of economics, where companies that had no assets and no profits, had stratospheric share prices. These predictions were hilariously wrong in the short term, but the whole new economy stuff has proven to be false in the long run too.

The European Union is terrified of the upcoming EU Parliament election, because they are anticipating a parliament dominated by populists, climate skeptics and Euroskeptics who want to break up the union.
If skeptics do win control of the European Parliament, under the democratically deficient EU system elected members probably won’t have the power to change EU climate policy or break up the EU. But the skeptics may rob the unelected soviet style bureaucrats who really run the EU of the facade of democratic legitimacy they have enjoyed to date, thanks to their rubber stamp parliament of tame elected Europhiles.
