You know, as he does.
If all of the people who were convinced that they have the right to determine how you ought to spend your money were gone, the world would be (a) far less populated and (b) far more pleasant.

Sen. Cory Booker is the latest Democratic entrant in the presidential sweepstakes. Not one to be defensive, Booker expressed pride in his Spartacus moment.
The moment was vintage Booker. He touted his courage in “exposing” a classified document, claiming that he risked expulsion from the Senate for doing so. But the document had already been approved for release. There was never a risk that Booker would be expelled for discussing it. Moreover, as Ed Morrissey reminds us. Booker misrepresented what the document showed.
But Booker is, I hope, prouder of his Spartacus moment than of the time last year when he held up for a photograph a sign saying “From Palestine to Mexico, all the walls have got to go.” A spokesperson for Booker claimed Booker “didn’t have time to read the sign, and from his cursory glance he thought it was talking [only] about Mexico,” not Israel.
Maybe Booker just likes to have his picture taken.

Virginia’s Democrat governor, Ralph Northam, is under fire from Democrats for (perhaps) having harbored racist thoughts 35 years ago, when he was 25 years old. He is not under fire from Democrats for his recent endorsement of infanticide. That’s all you need to know about today’s Democrat Party.

Tim Pool says — and he has some background in this field, as he used to work for the start-up BuzzFeed-like company Splinter — that for the past five years or so, all these companies have been doing is paying people with the big pile of venture capital money they got at their inception. None of these companies have ever been profitable (well, BuzzFeed might have been profitable before it got the VC money and went into a Someone Else’s Money hiring/luxe office rental spree), and what’s happening now is that they’re seeing the end of their start-up funds running out, so they are confronted with the need to balance outlays to income for the first time.
Well, well, well.

John Dougherty, the business manager of Philadelphia’s branch of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), and six other labor officials were indicted on 116 charges related to lavish misuse of union funds and buying influence with corrupt politicians, Philadelphia’s The Inquirer and CBS Philly report.
…
Dougherty has wielded significant influence across the battleground state, throwing the union’s power and purse behind politicians, largely democrats, running for local, state and national offices.
“I would argue they’re the single-most effective political organization in the state,” former Republican Rep. Ryan Costello told Politico. “They’re thinking five, six, seven steps ahead.”

Three people who operated multimillion-dollar birth-tourism businesses in Southern California were arrested Thursday in the biggest federal criminal probe ever to target the thriving industry, in which pregnant women come to the United States to give birth so their children will become American citizens.
The businesses coached their clients to deceive United States immigration officials and pay indigent rates at hospitals to deliver their babies, even though many of the clients were wealthy, investigators said. Some Chinese couples were charged as much as $100,000 for a birth-tourism package that included housing, nannies and shopping excursions to Gucci.
Actually, I don’t have a problem with the children of rich Chinese tourists becoming automatic American citizens. My problem is with the children of poor Mexican criminals becoming automatic American citizens.

Ace of Spades is having some fun.
Actually, it’s sadder than that.
Because BuzzFeed’s director of quizzes was laid off on Friday.
No, that’s not the sad part. The sad part is why.
Yes, it’s sad that Buzzfeed had a “director of quizzes” in the first place. But even sadder is this: all of BuzzFeed’s most popular quizzes were being created, for free, by an overly energetic 19-year-old college student.
See, they laid the director of quizzes off when some Green Eyeshade Genius realized, “Why are we paying a director of quizzes when all the good quizzes are given to us for free by a 19 year old co-ed?”
