You will notice, in all this talk of a ‘tax cuts’, that the underlying theme is that any ‘tax cuts’ be ‘paid for’.
What this means is, that any changes result in no net decrease in tax revenues for the government.
How is this a ‘tax cut’? IT ISN’T.
If taxes are changed, but at the end of the process the government still has the same amount of tax revenue, then IT IS NOT A TAX CUT. It is a tax re-arrangement. In a tax re-arrangement, some people wind up paying less tax, and other people wind up paying more.
In other words, this is an attempt to shift the tax burden from some favored people to some unfavored people. Once again, the government is picking winners and losers, using taxpayers’ own money as the carrot and stick.
This is a cornerstone of proglodyte politics. No matter what happens, the amount of money that government takes from the people who earn it cannot be allowed to go down. The contest then becomes a fight over who gets to be winners and who losers in the subsequent re-arrangement. That’s the sort of fight that lobbyists for special interests live for (and get paid big bucks for), and how proglodytes make their living (and accrue their power).
Somebody ought to point out to Republican legislators that they ought to be deeply embarrassed by participating in this charade.

In the Paul Simon song, it’s all happening at the zoo. In Minnesota, it’s all happening at the mall — the Mall of America. Sunday was a big day at the Mall. We had the knife stabbings that did some serious damage to two customers trying on clothes at Macy’s. Minnesota man Mahad A. Abdirahman is the alleged perpetrator. He is charged with two felony offenses and being held on $750,000 bail.

Freeberg sorts through the trash.
Someone’s been hitting Snopes a bit too hard. And I seek to criticize them for it, not for any hard-linkage to the now thoroughly discredited lefty-leaning “debunking” website, but for their borrowing of the flawed methodology. And the rest of us should pay attention, for this is an object lesson in “How, and why, liberals are to blame for most of, in fact nearly all, of the pointless arguing.”
…
Here is the problem with debunking things with feelings. The unstated but unavoidable conclusion Darrell seeks to prove, that there is no institutional anti-Trump pro-Obama bias at work, is patently absurd. But, you’ll notice, all the facts he puts out are technically true. This isn’t because his point has merit overall, it’s because there is so little fact in what he says, and so much feeling. It’s like opening a large Amazon package and finding eighty to ninety percent of the volume is taken up by those cushy air pillows, and you got half as much toothpaste as you thought you were getting.
…
This is why persons today of sane mind, don’t want liberals running anything, anywhere. Modern liberalism is all about, among other things: My feelings are all-important; yours don’t count for squat.

As I wrote in The War on Humans, environmentalism has become increasingly anti-human, both in proposed policies–such as those that would reduce economic vitality and thwart human thriving–and the goal of reducing human population.
Environmentalists ought to have the courage of their convictions and just eat a bullet for the team.

It would be nice to think that I was not the only person who watched Tuesday’s congressional hearing regarding sexual misconduct on Capitol Hill and felt pronouncedly stupider afterwards. But apart from a headline in The Washington Post suggesting that “Training is ‘first step’ in stopping sexual harassment in the House, lawmakers say,” there is little evidence so far that any other sentient human beings saw it. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was talking about Russia on the other C-SPAN at roughly the same time, so maybe no one did.

BlueBlazer McEntrepreneurship that he should not under any circumstances be showing his penis to members of his staff or his fellow representatives. Adults, especially those with college degrees, proud service in our nation’s Armed Forces, decades of experience getting things done in the private sector, and the other sorts of things that you generally find on the CVs of congressmen, learn these things from posters when they are 40 or 50 years old. Amazon is blaming the U.S. Postal Service for having to shut down its grocery delivery service in portions of the country, according to Recode.
USPS was responsible for delivering orders from the tech conglomerate’s eponymous service Amazon Fresh for a large majority of intended destinations, but allegedly failed to do so in a timely manner, or at all, in certain instances. Amazon cites this, as well as an overall imperfect relationship with USPS, as the primary reasoning behind its decision to limit its delivery feature, which included cutting it off in parts of nine states.
They expected the Postal Service to deliver stuff in a timely manner? Really? Really?

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times last August, the cofounder of Black Lives Matter, Patrisse Cullors, stated that BLM would not sit at the table with President Trump, because he “is literally the epitome of evil, all the evils of this country – be it racism, capitalism, sexism, homophobia”.
Trump’s views and actions aside, calling capitalism evil and conflating it with racism is noteworthy. The same goes for the increasing tendency among racial justice advocates to embrace the left-wing economic agenda.
Pure Trump Derangement Syndrome.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Natalie Jeffers, who cofounded BLM in the United Kingdom, urged her followers to: “Fight racism with solidarity. Fight capitalism with socialism. We must organize – dedicate ourselves to revolutionary politic power.”

Everyone is commenting on this New York Times column in which a black professor offers an argument that could be reduced to a syllogism:
Premise A: Donald Trump got elected.
Premise B: Donald Trump is racist;
ergo,
Conclusion: Black children can’t be friends with white children.
I believe I commented on that earlier. Remember, if you’re the one obsessed with race, you’re the racist.
Really, this is the essence of his argument, a bizarre non sequitur rooted in a profound sense of racial paranoia derived from the identity-politics calculations of Democrat Party “social justice” propaganda. Although he tries to marshal evidence in support of his anti-white attitude, the entire argument of his 1,500-word screed is built upon a simple foundation: Democrats, good. Republicans, racist.
That’s because the Democrat party is the Puritan party, constantly engaged in the hunt for heretics and sinners. If you’re not with them, you’re with Satan (Now Trump, before that Bush, before that Reagan or Gingrich depending on the day, etc.).

David Cole sorts through the trash.
In 2016, I wrote about the Boyle Heights neighborhood in East L.A. Boyle Heights is about 95% Latino, and its residents aim to keep it that way. Last year, the Obama administration handed down a federal civil rights indictment against Boyle Heights’ oldest and largest street gangs. The gangs had been using violence and intimidation to keep black people from moving into the neighborhood. Blacks who braved the threats and tried to make a life for themselves in Boyle Heights’ low-cost housing units soon found themselves firebombed into homelessness. The gangs had strong support from the community, and even after the federal indictment, the area is still almost entirely devoid of blacks.
Boyle Heights activists have been in the news once again, and this time, their targets are white. They’ve been waging a relentless campaign to force the closure of any stores that might attract white people to the neighborhood. First to go were the art galleries, which were targeted because art appreciation is apparently a whites-only endeavor (unless you’re Frida Kahlo or a graffiti tagger). “Fuck white art” was painted on gallery doors. Windows were broken, employees harassed. Most of the targeted gallery owners surrendered to the segregationists and fled. After defeating a bunch of pretentious art sissies, the activists decided that the coffee shops were next. Yes, drinking coffee is now apparently emblematic of white supremacy. Protesters picketed a local coffee shop, holding signs that read “Caffè AmeriKKKano” (because if the Klan was known for anything, it was its love of espresso) and “fuck white coffee” (okay, seriously, that doesn’t even make a lick of sense). Customers trying to enter the store were harassed. Signs were posted around the city depicting a white hipster’s head in the crosshairs of a rifle. And through it all, at no point did the activists make any attempt to hide the racial nature of their cleansing campaign: “No white people. No white stores.” It’s almost funny reading the reactions of some of the gallery and coffee-shop owners. “But we’re progressive whites! We’re the good guys! We resist Trump!”
They don’t get, or refuse to get, that it’s about race, not politics.
