…leftists who are too obsessed with global warming to want to reproduce. Hey, if that’s what it takes, we probably should be grateful. NPR asks the question–seriously, as far as I can tell–“Should We Be Having Kids In The Age Of Climate Change?”
We certainly ought to encourage ‘progressives’ not to have children.
The problem is, once they get an idea into their heads, they won’t rest until you go along with it (by force of government if necessary).

Joe Bob Briggs reads the tea-leaves.
I should have waited four more days so that I could read the column by Jim Rutenberg in The New York Times explaining that there’s no media bias because all the rules of journalism have changed.
Damn, Jim, if you’d told me in advance, I could have saved Taki some money.
I learned from this article that the way it works now is, if you’re a working reporter and you think Donald Trump is a demagogue, “you have to throw out the textbook American journalism has been using for the better part of the past half-century, if not longer, and approach it in a way you’ve never approached anything in your career.” You have to “move closer than you’ve ever been to being oppositional.”

U.S. District Judge Sean Cox threw out a lawsuit the federal government brought against a Detroit-area funeral home over the firing of a transgender employee. His Thursday ruling said the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission failed to accommodate the religious beliefs of the funeral home’s owner, who said he feared violating “God’s commands” by permitting one of his directors, a biological male, to wear a skirt-suit while ministering to grieving customers.

Steve Sailer is not afraid to ask the obvious questions.
Why do people say things like “talent must be distributed equally” when all the evidence of our eyes from watching the Olympics is that talent is not distributed equally? Instead, talent is distributed in complex patterns by nature, which are in turn made even more complex by nurture.
Because ‘progressives’ are all about Must Be Distributed Equally, and if it isn’t so, they strive to make it so — and where they can’t make it so (Hello, Nature!) they just assume it (because wishing will make it true).

Despite the admission, the U.N. says it deserves no legal liability for the deaths, and will continue to avoid making reparations.

What do these presidents have in common? Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy. When I saw that question posed by University of California Irvine neuroscientist James Fallon, my response was that they were the three most popular presidents of the 20th century.
They all had fascist inclinations and increased the footprint of the Federal government on daily life, precisely because of that popularity.
Now what about Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and George H.W. Bush? All markedly less popular – each lost his bid for re-election.What I didn’t know is that biographers of each president had been asked to rate their subjects on a standardized assessment of psychopathic traits. Those first three super-popular presidents ranked No. 1, 2, and 3; they were America’s most psychopathic presidents. The three who couldn’t win a second term ranked among the least psychopathic.
…

Nassim Nicholas Taleb points out why modern life sucks.
T he best example I know that gives insights into the functioning of a complex system is with the following situation. It suffices for an intransigent minority –a certain type of intransigent minorities –to reach a minutely small level, say three or four percent of the total population, for the entire population to have to submit to their preferences. Further, an optical illusion comes with the dominance of the minority: a naive observer would be under the impression that the choices and preferences are those of the majority. If it seems absurd, it is because our scientific intuitions aren’t calibrated for that (fughedabout scientific and academic intuitions and snap judgments; they don’t work and your standard intellectualization fails with complex systems, though not your grandmothers’ wisdom).

Martin Reynolds, the fellowship director, spoke to this me over the phone Wednesday afternoon. When asked whether white journalists should bother applying to the program, Reynolds pointed to the fact the grant is for journalists of color. Asked what “colors” specifically, Reynolds said racial and ethnic minorities.
I pointed out that I am Argentine and asked whether this would allow me to qualify for this opportunity. Reynolds then asked if I was a “white male” and I responded in the affirmative, but pointed out that I’m still an ethnic minority. Reynolds then said that people “understand” if they operate within a “community of color.” The fellowship director said that he doesn’t require a photo of the applicant to check their color because he trusts their “integrity.”
When asked if the program is discriminatory, Reynolds said “no.” He viewed the program as necessary to cover a disparity in journalism. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race in employment.
Just in case you were wondering why ‘journalism’ is so defective.

A team that included Nobel Prize-winning chemist Professor Brian Kobilka, of Stanford University in the US discovered the drug called PZM21 after evaluating some three million different compounds.
Morphine, derived from the opium poppy, works by acting on a receptor in the brain that reduces pains, but it also affects a different receptor that can lead to fatal breathing problems in the event of an overdose.
But PZM21, which so far has only been tested on mice, appears to act on the first receptor to about the same level as morphine without significantly changing the second one.

What business is that of the government?
“Of the many challenges facing the NPS in the 21st century, the lack of ethnic and racial diversity among the visiting population may be the most critical,” the NPS said in a grant announcement posted on the government’s grant website Wednesday.
Perhaps without ‘ethnic and racial diversity’ we’ll have more forest fires? This makes no sense.
White people are twice as likely to visit parks as black people, the document states. Park visitors are predominately white, and minorities make up only 22 percent of park visitors, even though minorities make up 37 percent of the U.S. population, according to research conducted by the NPS in 2008 and 2009.
Maybe the don’t like tramping around in the woods. Maybe somebody ought to ask some black people and find out why they’re not conforming to the SWPL ideal.
U.S. parks reflect America’s racist roots, according to KangJae Lee, assistant teaching professor at the University of Missouri.

The chairman of the Arlington Fire District board said he’s reached out to Chief Tory Gallante to discuss the possibility of a compromise about the use of American flags on fire trucks.
American flags were removed from three Arlington Fire District trucks Tuesday, sparking heated discussion on social media and disappointment from union members.
What possible reason could there be to REMOVE American flags from fire trucks? In fargin Poughkeepsie?
Arlington Fire Commissioner Chairman Jim Beretta said the board majority feel the flags are a “liability during normal operations for our people and other motorists,” and that the board had not been consulted before the flags were mounted.
How could American flags be a liability during normal operations for fire trucks in an American city?
Two board members “had no problem with it as long as it was safe and not in the way of operations,” Beretta added. Three board members “did have a problem with it for normal operations, citing liability and distraction to other motorists.”
And if you believe that one, they’ll tell you another one.

Because we really don’t have enough lesbian farmers in this country, don’t you know.
The agency is working with singer and LGBT activist Cyndi Lauper for a “day of conversation” about the struggles of gay and transgender individuals in rural America. The agency says its wants to change the perception of what it means to be a farmer in America away from the “white, rich male.”
At your expense, of course. No doubt you missed the part of the Constitution where that was one of the delegated powers to the Federal government.
“The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Civil Rights, in collaboration with the National Center for Lesbian Rights and The True Colors Fund, will engage with LGBT rural communities across the country to host the LGBT Rural Summit Series,” the USDA said. “Each series will offer a unique opportunity for USDA and other federal agencies to share information relating to policies, programs, and services that exist to protect, promote and strengthen LGBT rural communities.”
I am not making this up.
“Contrary to widely held myths that the LGBT community is largely living in affluent metropolitan areas, studies show a very different and more realistic picture of the LGBT community,” the USDA said. “For a number of reasons, many people in the LGBT community choose to live, work, and raise their families in the rural communities that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is proud to serve.”
Perhaps that’s because ‘affluent metropolitan areas’ are behavioral sinks in which no rational adult would want to live or raise kids.
The agency said nearly 10 percent of all same-sex couples in the United States live in rural areas and are “actually more likely to be families of color and raising children.”
How microscopic a part of the population is represented by 10% of an already negligible portion of the population is left as an exercise for the reader. But no victim class is too small to be ignored by the people spending YOUR tax money.
“We are trying very hard to change people’s mindsets,” Davis said. “When [people] hear ‘rural America,’ I don’t want them to think that means one type of person: a white, rich male.”
Although ‘progressives’ and the Drive-By Media expend millions of dollars every year pounding that message into people’s brains.
“You do have gay farmers who are growing your food,” said Marcus Hollan. “You have lesbian agricultural teachers in your high schools and your colleges teaching youth. It’s time we start recognizing them but also celebrating them.”
That’s like recognizing and celebrating the Zika virus. The zombies have taken over the police department.

YoutubeIn the wake of the publication of a major interview with Juanita Broaddrick, a lot of left-leaning writers are soberly re-examining her decades’ old rape accusation against Bill Clinton—which seems to grow less plausible (or perhaps less important) in their eyes, the more it threatens Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid.
“While I (sort of? am leaning toward?) believe Juanita Broaddrick, her characterization of Hillary Clinton sounds irrational, maybe induced from PTSD,” writes Wonkette’s Rebecca Schoenkopf. Schoenkopf deserves credit for admitting a startling truth: her tribe is generally much less likely than this to agonize over accepting the victim’s narrative. “Why did Juanita Broaddrick change her story? ask people who otherwise would automatically answer ‘rape survivors do that sometimes,'” notes Schoenkopf.

Notably missing from the current discussion of Obamacare is any sign of disappointment, let alone panic, from the Democrats. The ACA was supposed to be Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement. Doesn’t he care that the program that bears his name is falling apart? Seemingly not.
Likewise with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the other Democrats who pushed Obamacare through Congress without a single Republican vote. Pretty much everything they said about the ACA has been proved wrong. Do they mind? They don’t appear to.
Democrats don’t expect to be punished for inflicting an expensive, failed program on the American people. Instead, they believe they will be rewarded. As Obamacare continues its slow-motion collapse, they will shift to Plan B. “We tried the market-based approach,” they will say, “and it didn’t work. Now there is only one alternative left: single payer health coverage.” At that point, with the government already dominating health care through Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare, and with genuinely free and private health care a dwindling remnant of the industry, they think the road to socialized medicine, the holy grail of modern leftism, will be open.

In the land of NeverTrump, it turns out one American is more reviled than Donald Trump. This would be the Donald Trump voter.
Lincoln famously described government as of, by, and for the people. Even so, the people are now getting a hard lesson about what happens when they reject the advice of their betters and go with a nominee of their own choosing. What happens is an outpouring of condescension and contempt.
This contempt is most naked on the left. No surprise here, for two reasons. First, since at least Woodrow Wilson progressives have always preferred rule by a technocratic elite over democracy. Second, today’s Democratic Party routinely portrays its Republican Party rivals as an assortment of nasty ists (racists, sexists, nativists, etc.) making war on minorities, women, foreigners and innocent goatherds who somehow end up in Guantanamo.
Thus Mr. Trump confirms to many on the left what they have always told themselves about the GOP. A New York Times writer put it this way: “Donald Trump’s supporters know exactly what he stands for: hatred of immigrants, racial superiority, a sneering disregard of the basic civility that binds a society.”
Still, the contempt for the great Republican unwashed does not emanate exclusively from liberals or Democrats. Thanks to Mr. Trump’s run for office, it is now ascendant in conservative and Republican quarters as well.

Almost immediately upon leaving office he reportedly proceeded to help rich folks do the alleged distorting.
