Victor Davis Hanson.
But recently, something has gone terribly wrong with immigration—an open border, of course, but also a change in legal immigration as well as student visitors.
During World War II, Japanese Americans fought heroically in horrific conditions in Italy in the famous 442nd Regimental Combat Team and 100th Infantry Battalion—even as their families were interned in the Western United States. Few native-born Americans were more loyal or patriotic than the Japanese Americans.
And now?
While America is at war with Iran and de facto with its terrorist proxies, crowds of immigrants, visitors, and foreign students in New York scream anti-American slogans as they cheer on our enemies in theocratic Iran and its terrorist proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas.
Are we surprised, then, when Islamic terrorists begin hunting down Americans on our own soil?
The Japanese weren’t Muslim.
The Swedes weren’t Muslim.
The Greeks weren’t Muslim.
The Irish, Italians, Germans, French, and Russians weren’t Muslim.
Do you detect a pattern here?

After multiple shooters who reportedly supported the Islamic State attacked Americans amid the Iran war, a Muslim reformer warns that a “seditious” form of his faith poses a grave threat to America, and warns his fellow Republicans need to correctly identify the threat.
Congressmen Keith Self and Chip Roy, both Republicans from Texas, established a “Sharia-Free America Caucus.” Roy warned that “Sharia is a direct threat to our Constitution and Western values and seeks to replace our legal system and erode our basic freedoms.”
“I am a supporter of Chip Roy… and see eye-to-eye with [his allies] on the threat of the global Sharia supremacist movement and the threat domestically against the American way of life,” M. Zuhdi Jasser, a medical doctor and military veteran who founded the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, told The Daily Signal in an interview Friday.
Unfortunately, they still believe in the Myth of the Good Muslim. Individual Muslims may be good people, just as individual Nazis back in pre-war Germany could be good people, but they were still Nazis and Muslims are still Muslims. No amount of good-heartedness can compensate for the innate evil of their ‘religion’.
Islam in its essence is an oppressive totalitarian ideology masquerading as a religion with which no co-existence is possible. Don’t believe me? Read the Koran in the context of the hadith and the tafsir. Like Mein Kampf, it’s all laid out there in black and white.

Ten years after jihadist bombings tore through Brussels, killing 32 people and injuring hundreds, survivors and officials gathered near Maelbeek station to mark an anniversary that remains unresolved for many of those who lived through it.
The tribute took place just metres from the metro stop where one of the explosions struck during the morning rush hour on March 22, 2016, when coordinated attacks on Zaventem airport and the city’s underground network brought the Belgian capital to a halt.
Thirty-two people were killed and more than 300 injured in the attacks, which were later linked to the same jihadist network that was behind the 2015 Paris attacks. Many of the victims were commuters, EU employees, and travellers caught in the blasts as they made their way to work.
Imagine how peaceful the world would be if the Religion of Peace didn’t exist.

The Belgian government has announced the deployment of Defence and Federal Police forces to protect synagogues and Jewish schools nationwide, following a series of antisemitic attacks in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe.
Interior Minister Bernard Quintin (MR) and Defence Minister Theo Francken (N-VA) confirmed that soldiers will work alongside police to strengthen security at Jewish sites, with operations to begin as soon as possible.
The decision comes after an early-morning explosion near a synagogue in Liège on March 9, which alarmed residents and underscored the ongoing threat to Jewish institutions.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday welcomed the resignation of Joe Kent, now the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, criticizing his stance on Iran and calling his departure “a good thing.”
Speaking at a press conference, Trump said Kent was “very weak on security” and took issue with Kent’s reported view that Iran did not pose a significant threat.
“Iran was a threat. Every country realized what a threat Iran was,” Trump said, adding that the real disagreement among nations was whether to take action.
Kent’s abrupt resignation comes amid escalating tensions over U.S. policy toward Iran. According to officials familiar with the matter, Kent had opposed aspects of the administration’s approach to the conflict, particularly assessments that described Iran as an immediate and pressing danger.

Nigeria’s president described attacks in the northeast’s most heavily defended city as “the final desperate” acts of militants trying to spread fear. Many experts say the opposite is true, that the blasts were a sign of strength not weakness.
An ?assault on Maiduguri by coordinated suicide bombers points to state intelligence failures and the capacity of Islamist militants to hit urban areas despite waves of government operations against ?them, they said.
It is still not clear which of Nigeria’s militant groups carried out the attack, underscoring the complexity of a sprawling 17-year insurgency that has killed tens of thousands of people and forced millions more from their homes.
As long as Islam exists, ‘jihadis’ will be a problem. It’s been that way for 1400 years, and there is no indication that it will change. Whether our Ruling Class will continue prating how ‘peaceful’ Muslims are while ignoring the mass murder, or whether they will wake up and decide to do something about it, is an exercise left for the reader.

One of the greatest attributes of human beings is the ability of pattern recognition. Without that ability, you’re just a kind of stumbling around imbecile unable to learn anything from patterns you’ve seen before. So, luckily, sentient beings are able to recognize patterns, like for instance, endless terror attacks from one specific religion. Or the pattern of the slow-motion Islamization of much of Europe. Or the pattern of daycare fraud committed by Somalians. And if those sentient beings aren’t brainwashed by the ideology of diversity and multiculturalism, but rather are able to still comprehend stark reality, then they quite naturally say something to the effect of, “We recognize that pattern and don’t want that here.”

Even as Islamic terror attacks in America are becoming as routine as days of the week ending in “y,” Democrats are hurling the word “Islamophobia” as indiscriminately as Iran is lobbing missiles in every direction to create chaos.
In that vein, Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand got herself all atwitter over an X post by Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville which contained juxtaposed pictures, one of the burning twin towers on 9/11 and the other of Zohran Mamdani sitting on the floor at a Ramadan iftar dinner purportedly inside city hall.
Since a picture, or two, is worth a thousand words, Tuberville’s tweet was linguistically parsimonious: “The enemy is inside the gates.”
Which is to say that after a mere quarter century, the same religion/ideology that took down the towers now inhabits the seat of government in our largest and most important American city. Tuberville’s short and sweet tweet suggests that’s not a good thing. Democrat sensibilities, however, are easily rubbed raw over such matters and Gillibrand’s response was: “This type of Islamophobia is disgraceful and unbecoming of a senator. Delete it immediately and apologize.”
Despite her command, as of this writing, no deletion or apology has been forthcoming.
Mamdani’s own response to Tuberville’s tweet, instead of being angry, was just passive-aggressively silly: “Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.”
Ah yes, breaking bread with New Yorkers! What could be more New York than sitting on the floor cross-legged eating fattoush, tabbouleh, samosas, pakoras, bamya, biryani, kabsa/machboos, mandi and Arabic biryani with chicken or lamb? And as for the hungry kids, were any invited to the iftar dinner?
The best response to Gillibrand’s post was this tweet from @davemarkowitz: “It’s not Islamaphobia [sic], it’s pattern recognition.”

A blast late Friday outside a Jewish school in Amsterdam has Dutch police racing to safeguard Jewish institutions after two attacks in two days.
As in a blast outside a synagogue in Rotterdam the day before, there were no injuries in the Amsterdam explosion, which caused damage to the school building’s outer wall.
“This is a cowardly act of aggression towards the Jewish community,” Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema said in a statement. “I understand the fear and anger of Jewish Amsterdammers. I posted yesterday about a German ethnologist named Susanne Schröter and a study by the BKA (Bundeskriminalamt, the German federal investigative police agency) showing that almost half of young Muslims in Germany support “Islamism”, i.e. the full, devout expression of their religion.
The video below is a follow-up to yesterday’s translated article. Inge Bell is a German human rights activist, business consultant and entrepreneur, and in this clip she talks about the BKA study and the work of Dr. Schröter. She’s less timid in her terminology than the author of last night’s article, and doesn’t refer to “Islamism”. However, she still pulls her punches a bit by talking about “political Islam”, which is tougher, but still tiptoes around the ghastly truth.
It’s very difficult for people to refer to what menaces us as simply “Islam”. To identify Islam without any obfuscating modifiers as the source of what threatens us — to say that Islamic doctrine commands that we unbelievers must be killed or enslaved — is to risk losing one’s job, or being cancelled, or, in certain jurisdictions, even being prosecuted for “hate speech”.
Additionally, it’s devastating to one’s inner equilibrium to realize that the entirety of Islam — however many billions of people the Muslims claim to have nowadays — is a mortal danger to us. It’s a horrible fact to contemplate, as I know from my own experience. I would really have preferred to combat “Islamism”, or “radical Islam”, or “political Islam”, rather than Islam itself. Unfortunately, once you see the reality of it, there’s no going back.
Back in 2007, when confronted with the phrase “moderate Islam”, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan famously responded: “These descriptions are very ugly, it is offensive and an insult to our religion. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that’s it.”

A Turkish-Kurdish schoolgirl is said to have been groped by nine boys of Arab descent in the back room of a Berlin youth center in Gropiusstadt, Neukölln. It then came out that she was raped in November, in the youth center garden. A scandal has erupted after it was reported that the youth center staff did not file a police report, reportedly out of fear that the suspects would be labeled as the “typical Muslims.”
For months, there were already troubling reports from Berlin youth center in the multicultural neighborhood of Neukölln: involving unwanted embraces, girls having their breasts and buttocks touched without consent, and being pulled onto boys’ laps.
All of these incidents were allegedly happening in plain sight of staff.

As the wise man once said, making predictions is hard, especially about the future.
Nonetheless, success comes to those that predict they will be successful. What is happening in Iran today is 47 years overdue because we were afraid to predict success. We are winning. We will win. The bad guys are losing. They will lose.
I will not spend time on why it is foolhardy to assume someone else will react to a certain situation the same way as you would. It is foolhardy, but, some situations are so compelling that a prediction regarding how someone else will react can and should be made confidently.

The following report cites a study showing German Muslims’ growing support for “Islamism”. Young “radicals” are increasingly following “Islamist interpretations of Islam”.
For those of us who don’t subscribe to the artificial “Islam/Islamism” dichotomy, what the study seems to have measured is the tendency of young Muslim culture-enrichers in Germany to study the core scriptures of their religion and practice the prescribed behaviors as decreed by Allah and revealed to his messenger Mohammed. They learn that Allah has commanded them to wage jihad against the non-believers until the infidels submit to Islam or are killed. If a soldier of Allah is killed during his jihad, he is rewarded with all the perquisites of Paradise, including the well-known 72 virgins.
Such is “Islamism”, which is indistinguishable from Islam. The “Islamist” is simply acting in accord with the central tenets of his religion.

On X (formerly Twitter) there has been some exchanges between Professor Gad Saad and Ambassador Richard Grenell. Saad has authored several books and his latest, Suicidal Empathy: Dying to be Kind, is scheduled for release May 12, 2026. Saad’s experience as a Lebanese Jew whose family narrowly escaped Islamic violence shapes his understanding of Islam. His studies have helped him understand how the West is an enabler and may well fall as a result. Grenell has pushed back on some of Saad’s posts decrying painting all practitioners of Islam as a threat. Grenell also emphasizes the First Amendment protections for beliefs and peaceful practice.
As I followed this exchange I saw a truth in both viewpoints. As a firm believe in the First Amendment (and all civil rights recognized by our Constitution) I struggle with how America battles Islam within a constitutional framework. Can it be done? I don’t know, but maybe this reframing of the issue is a start:
Islam is a violent/invasive political movement that uses its non-violent practitioners as “human shields” to invoke First Amendment protections for its persistent and embedded civil rights violations.
Recall that the First Amendment isn’t limited to religious belief and practice. It also includes political beliefs as well. That is why the Communist Party was never illegal, and a belief in Communism was never outlawed. What is outlawed is advocating the violent overthrow of the United States (but see discussion of Brandenburg v Ohio below). American history is littered with small communist organizations — communes — that came into and out of existence as the ultimate un-sustainability of its structure asserted itself.

I first read this book in February of 2013 and read it again in 2015 in the face of attempts by Muslims, media, Obama and others to claim that “Islamic terrorism is not Islamic” after Paris. Probably time to bring it out again to at least skim my highlights.
Such claims fly directly in the face of history, the Koran, Islamic tradition, and numerous events and discussions, including the response to Pope Benedict’s Regensburg lecture covered in this book, which I consider to be extremely important for the trinity of faith, reason, and truth in our time — both relative to Islam and secular attacks on that holy trinity of meaning.
The proximate reason that the political left and Islam reacted to the speech was Benedict’s use of a quote from a 14th century dialogue between Byzantine Christian emperor Manuel II Paleologus and a Persian scholar relative to violence in Islam which reads:
“Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,”

Two decades ago, the phrase “Dearbornistan” became common among conservative bloggers during the Global War on Terror, because of the notorious cluster of Islamic radicals in the Detroit surburb of Dearborn
As soon as I heard about Thursday’s attack on a synagogue in West Bloomfield — before anything had been reported about the suspect’s identity — I checked to see how far the synagogue was from Dearborn. It’s about 20 miles, but the distance is a bit shorter to Dearborn Heights, which is six miles west of Dearborn itself. One of the many tiresome habits of the MSM and academic Islamist apologists is the regurgitation of the lie that the Islamic texts that expressly call for violence against non-believers are (a) context-specific and only applicable to events in the early formational years of Islam and/or (b) merely relevant in the context of self-defense when attacked by infidels. They don’t really call for violence.
Oddly enough, in the 14 centuries since the death of the Prophet, Muslims have rather regularly misinterpreted this modest, context-specific, purely defensive guidance while they continued to invade, conquer, kill and enslave many millions of non-Muslims. In recent years, the incidence of jihadist violence is increasing again despite the internet making available creative translations inserting the revisionist references to self-defense and despite assurances by our betters that these instances are a small aberration that we must endure in service to our commitments to diversity and to the polite ongoing euthanization of Western civilization.
…
We need to end the pretense that jihadist violence is some rare event unrelated to express religious texts. The weird but defining white liberal delusion that they have transcended their own culture, heritage, country prevents them from descending from that higher fictional plane to engage in a defense of the culture and heritage they have putatively escaped even when they themselves may be personally at risk of lethal attack. We all have to pretend there is no such thing as jihad because it would disrupt the fantasy world of Keir Starmer or Barrack Obama (kinda like The Matrix for narcissists.)

The public media martyrdom of would-be deportee Mahmoud Khalil continues on National Public Radio. Khalil, who performed openly pro-Hamas activities during post-October 7 campus protests as a green card grad student at Columbia University, before the Trump Administration moved to arrest and deport him, was celebrated on Tuesday morning’s All Things Considered.
The fawning profile by DHS/immigration reporter Ximena Bustillo and national justice correspondent Carrie Johnson: “One year later: Mahmoud Khalil remains in limbo but ready to fight.”
Khalil attended protests that distributed Hamas and Hezbollah literature, which the United States considers terrorist organizations. There’s no First Amendment right to support violence and terror, and no right for green card holders to stay in the country if they violate American policy, especially not a graduate student who abused his host country’s hospitality by harassing its Jewish citizens – there were many disgusting anti-Semitic incidents at Columbia University. Khalil could never bring himself to condemn Hamas.
Yet NPR stuck up for Khalil’s Columbia protesting, without providing any examples of his controversial stands like supporting Hamas’s murderous rampage of October 7, 2023. Does NPR really want listened to sympathize more for Khalil than the innocents killed, raped, and kidnapped? Iran’s asymmetric warfare in the Strait of Hormuz has shifted from kamikaze drone strikes on tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships to littering the world’s most important maritime chokepoint with naval mines.
Even though much of Iran’s conventional naval capability has been severely degraded in the 12 or so days of the Operation Epic Fury campaign, IRGC forces retain asymmetric leverage in Hormuz and the Gulf region through sea mines, drones, small vessels, and missile threats.
“It’s a good tool of asymmetric warfare,” Jahangir E. Arasli, a senior research fellow at Baku-based Institute for Development and Diplomacy who specializes in maritime threats, told the Wall Street Journal.
“The conventional capability is wiped out, but they have this asymmetrical capability,” Arasli said, noting that he was speaking in a personal capacity.

The advice warns that children’s drawings could be considered blasphemous under certain interpretations of Islamic law, and that music and dance lessons might also conflict with some Islamic teachings.
Entitled Sharing the Journey, the guidelines note that Islamic culture has a long artistic heritage, emphasizing geometry, calligraphy, and patterned design. It warns that three-dimensional depictions of humans—including religious figures such as Jesus or the Prophet Mohammed—may be seen as idolatrous by some Muslims.

Exactly 45 minutes after the government published its definition of “anti-Muslim hostility” came the first attempt by a politician to weaponise it against speech he dislikes. Iqbal Mohamed, the pro-Gaza independent MP for Dewsbury & Batley, asked the communities secretary Steve Reed how the new definition would be applied to the “escalating hostility” of what MPs said about Muslims in parliament and “what sanctions” would be enforced against those who transgress.
Did Reed repeat the assurances he’d just given that the definition would have no effect on free speech? Did he slap down this naked attempt at censorship? No. He said Mohamed was “right to point to the huge concern we should all share about the unacceptable level of hostility and abuse directed at Muslims”.
As a Muslim myself, I think I am qualified to agree that abuse — hate speech — and discrimination against us are unacceptable. But as a former chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), I also know these things are already illegal.

The Telegraph (UK).
A former Syrian intelligence officer living in the UK has been charged with war crimes in the first prosecution of its kind in the UK.
The 58-year-old man was charged on Monday with a string of offences following an investigation by counter-terror police.
The suspect is said to have led a group tasked with suppressing anti-government demonstrations in eastern Damascus in April 2011, following the start of the Syrian Civil War.
His alleged offences include three counts of murder as a crime against humanity (CAH), three counts of torture, and one offence of conduct ancillary to murder as a CAH.

Thank God the two Muslims arrested were not the sharpest tools in the shed. The devices were filled with home-brew TATP – the explosive of choice of Islamic terrorists worldwide. They didn’t get the formula right and the devices failed to go off. But it wasn’t for lack of trying. They were targeting a protest outside Gracie Mansion whose aim was to raise awareness about the Islamification of NYC. The Muslim call to prayer is now broadcast in the city. The two wanna-be terrorists threw the devices at the anti-Islam protesters while someone shouted “Allah Akbar”. They later told police they targeted the protest because “they insulted our religion.” Thats the religion of peace for you.
Interestingly, Mayor Mamdani’s statement implies that the anti-Islam protesters were the problem and threw the devices …
Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are.
What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are.
I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day.
My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.
Talk about fake news. The local news followed suit, breathlessly reporting that the Mayor and his wife are safe … as if they were in danger.

Europol has issued a grave warning regarding the “immediate repercussions” of the conflict in Iran for European Union security.
Spokesman Jan Op Gen Oorth signaled that the regional war will likely trigger a surge in terrorism, organized crime, and sophisticated cyberattacks.
A central concern for the police body is the potential for “destabilising activities” conducted by the Iranian-sponsored “Axis of Resistance.” This network of Shi’ite—or at least pro-Iranian—paramilitary groups is expected to pivot toward the EU to engage in intimidation, terror financing, and the exploitation of digital infrastructure via artificial intelligence (AI)-driven fraud.

The persistent harassment and destruction of Christian Serbian heritage in Kosovo by the Albanian Muslim majority represents one of the most egregious ongoing violations of religious freedom and cultural integrity in contemporary Europe. This phenomenon, rooted in post-1999 ethnic revenge and fueled by radical Islamist influences, has manifested in the deliberate targeting of Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) sites, the mass displacement of Christian Serbs, and the export of Muslim extremism abroad. Far from isolated criminal acts, these incidents form a pattern that undermines the very foundations of Christian presence in the region and demands urgent corrective action from Western powers that bear responsibility for the current situation.
Historical records document the scale of destruction with chilling precision. According to the International Center for Transitional Justice and corroborated Serbian Orthodox Church sources, 155 Christian churches and monasteries were destroyed or severely damaged between June 1999 and March 2004, following the NATO intervention and the establishment of international administration.
This figure encompasses revenge attacks in the immediate post-war period, escalating dramatically during the 2004 unrest, when 35 additional sites were razed or heavily damaged in a matter of days. Notable examples include medieval masterpieces such as the Holy Virgin of Ljeviš (14th century, burned inside); the Church of Christ the Savior (14th century, burned); the Cathedral of St. George in Prizren (20th century, mined and burned); the Monastery of the Holy Archangels (14th century, looted and burned); Our Lady of Ljeviš in Prizren (UNESCO-listed, torched); the Church of St. Nicholas in various locations (multiple instances destroyed or vandalized); the Church of St. Panteleimon in Potkaljaja (14th century, damaged); the Church of St. Cosmas and Damian (14th century, damaged); and countless others from the 14th-15th centuries that embodied Serbia’s medieval Christian civilization. These acts of iconoclasm, often involving dynamite, arson, and looting, aimed to erase visible symbols of Serbian and European Christian identity and presence in Kosovo.
This is what Muslim immigrants to other Christian countries would do—if we let them.

A Berlin court has sentenced a 20-year-old Syrian man to 13 years in prison for a jihadist-inspired knife attack on a Spanish tourist at the German capital’s Holocaust memorial.
The suspect, named only as Wassim Al M., was convicted of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, and attempted membership of a terrorist organisation.
The attack occurred in February 2025, only days before Germany’s general election. The court confirmed that Al M. acted “in the name of the Islamic State (IS) group” and targeted a person of Jewish faith. The victim survived only because the knife missed major blood vessels by millimetres.
Al M. approached the 30-year-old victim from behind among the concrete steles of the memorial, inflicting a 14-centimetre (over five-inch) cut to his throat. Despite serious injuries, the victim managed to stagger out of the steles before collapsing in front of the memorial.

A federal judge on Wednesday temporarily blocked the enforcement of an executive order issued last year by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that designates two Muslim groups as foreign terrorist organizations.
U.S. District Judge Mark E. Walker wrote in his preliminary injunction that the First Amendment bars the governor from continuing the troubling trend of using an executive office to make a political statement at the expense of others’ constitutional rights.
The governor’s order targeted the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim Brotherhood. His office didn’t immediately respond Wednesday evening to an email seeking comment on the judge’s order.

A total of 746 rapes were recorded in London in January, according to publicly available crime data from the Metropolitan Police Service.
The figures mean that, on average, one rape was reported roughly every 60 minutes in the British capital during the first month of the year.
The data, broken down by borough, show particularly high numbers in several inner-city districts. Southwark recorded 41 cases—the highest total—followed by Tower Hamlets and Haringey with 40 each, and Croydon with 39. Newham, Lambeth and Lewisham also reported more than 30 cases each. Even in boroughs with lower totals, double-digit figures were common. Kingston upon Thames recorded 12 cases, Richmond upon Thames 11, and Bexley and Harrow 10 each.
Separate data obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show that in 2023, 780 individuals were investigated for rape offences. Of those, 544 were British nationals, 229 were foreign nationals and seven were of unknown nationality. The statistics do not clarify whether British nationals were born in the UK or naturalised.
Organised group-based sexual abuse in London, often referred to as ‘grooming gangs’—with its existence denied by Labour mayor Sadiq Khan—may well be a contributing factor to the grim statistics.

A 17-year-old boy’s night out in Florence turned into a “horrifying ordeal” after he was abducted and raped on the night of February 14th. After spending the evening with friends, the teenager consumed enough alcohol to feel dizzy and eventually fell asleep on a seat aboard atram. According to surveillance footage, a 32-year-old Moroccan national took advantage of the boy’s state, lifting the unconscious youth onto his shoulders and carrying him off the vehicle.
The victim eventually came around under an overpass on Viale Guidoni, near the T2 tram terminus, where he was stripped and raped. Following the attack, the teenager managed to escape his tormentor around 5:00 a.m. and sought help at a nearby petrol station. After contacting his parents, he was rushed to the emergency room at Meyer Hospital for treatment.
Police investigators managed to reconstruct the events of the incident with the help of CCTV footage, which led the swift identification and arrest of the suspect. The 32-year-old migrant, who has resided in Italy for three years and has a prior criminal record, is now in custody facing charges of sexual assault on a minor. While he has partially confirmed the allegations, he claimed his actions were the result of being under the influence of alcohol.

Whatever one’s view of the so-called ‘special relationship’ between the United Kingdom and the United States (and I, for one, think it’s non-existent and embarrassing), the UK’s refusal to support American action against Iran marks a troubling moment in British foreign policy. The decision to prevent the United States from using joint UK-U.S. bases while simultaneously (and endlessly) stressing Britain’s non-involvement signals a government more concerned with internal community relations than strategic reality.
Close Commonwealth allies such as Australia and Canada, not natural bedfellows of the Trump administration, recognised the necessity of confronting Iran’s aggression. Britain and its Labour government, yet again, chose hesitation. The government has suggested that legal constraints made participation impossible. That claim does not withstand scrutiny.
Lord Wolfson, the shadow attorney general, has outlined a clear legal basis for action. He stated that the right of self-defence exists against an imminent threat from a hostile state with a consistent record of aggression. Also, there have been Iran’s sustained campaigns against British interests, including assassination plots, cyber-attacks, and threats to UK forces—not least the six-year insurgency against the British military in southern Iraq by Iran-backed Shia militias. There is also the moral obligation to assist allies acting in self-defence, particularly where Iran’s nuclear ambitions pose an existential threat to Israel.
