With the Persian Gulf uncharacteristically quiet in recent days, without any material provocation either real of staged, late on Wednesday CNN reported that five armed Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard boats unsuccessfully tried to seize a British oil tanker in the Persian Gulf. There was no independent verification of the report, but instead it was once again sourced to those who stands to gain the most from a way with Iran, namely “two US officials with direct knowledge of the incident.”

Usually in any showdown with a Muslim state of the Middle East, especially a large, theocratic country like Iran, the United States would be subject to the usual Islamic boilerplate slurs of Islamophobia, racism, imperialism, and colonialism, and we’d see popular anti-American unrest. But in the Muslim world, Iran is probably more unpopular than even the Trump administration. Renegade allies such as Hezbollah, Bashar al-Assad’s rump remains of Syria, and Hamas are reminders that Iran has no friends. Hatred for Tehran in the Middle East transcends the ancient Persian–Arab and Shiite–Sunni fault lines, and it’s fueled by 40 years of Iran-backed terrorism, bullying, and backing of insurgent movements throughout the Middle East.

Several years ago France passed a law against wearing the hijab in public. This was a rearguard action by what remains of French culture in a society that has already been heavily Islamized, and is at least 15% Muslim. Needless to say, the Muslim population of France considers the new law an outrage, and is taking active steps to thwart it.

There are more Muslims in France than there are black people in the U.S. Think about that.

The first video talks about the fact that these acts are provocations — elements of the “soft jihad” that weaponize aspects of kuffar culture, in this case the strong taboo against “discrimination” — to demoralize and weaken civil society among non-Muslims.

Sound familiar? Repeat after me: Black Lives Matter.

The second video features a former (or lapsed) Muslim who explains in no uncertain terms what all these burkini capers mean in terms of the 1400-year-old war waged by Islam against the infidels. No one is a fiercer defender of women’s rights than a woman who has managed to escape the stranglehold of sharia.

I don’t have a lot of confidence that Americans, who can barely remember things that happened since they reached puberty, to pay attention to a war that has been going on for 1400 years.

Terrorists have been caught strapping Wi-Fi-activated backup triggers to bombs in Indonesia, police claimed this week.

The explosives were discovered in a raid earlier this month, and included a switching mechanism that enabled them to be detonated using a signal sent via Wi-Fi if the main trigger, which uses a SIM card and waits for a mobile phone message to detonate, was blocked by radio-frequency jammers.

In the West bank the Palestinian Fatah government is threatening to cause an economic catastrophe by refusing partial payments from Israel and donor nations unless everyone stops deducting the money Fatah spends on supporting and encouraging terrorist activity. This issue has become more of an issue since 2018 when Israel passed a law to deduct from the $130 million a month (it collects in taxes and fees for the Palestinians in the West Bank) the amount (over $20 million) Fatah pays out to Palestinian terrorists in prison or to their families for deceased terrorists. The U.S. had already enacted a similar law and was deducting a similar amount from the $300 million it currently gives to the West Bank Palestinians. Other foreign donors have taken similar measures.

According to a Reuters report from Friday, among the 15 dead were the father and two brothers of the mastermind of last week’s Easter Sunday bombings, which left 253 dead and another 500 injured. As we reported on Friday, a radical preacher named Zahran Hashim has been identified as the primary architect of the series of bombings at three churches and three luxury hotels. Hashim was a leader of the National Thawheedh Jamaath, and had been arrested over his involvement in the defacing of Buddhist statues. In Egypt the government has completed the first phase of building the new town of Rafah. The original Rafah was torn down starting in 2015 because it was on the Gaza border and a popular place for smuggling tunnels into Gaza because there were nearly 2,000 buildings and structures there that could serve as the Egyptian end of a smuggling tunnel. Over 1,500 structures were torn down to create a buffer zone of cleared land over 1,000 meters wide. The new Rafah is two kilometers from the border and apparently too far to build smuggling tunnels. Moving Rafah caused a lot of anger among the thousands of people living there. Although they received new homes and assistance in moving the Rafah population had their lives disrupted and were forced to accept new homes in high rise apartment buildings. Using the apartment buildings made it easier to check basements for any smuggling tunnel activity.
