Inspector Clouseau Standing By

17th January 2022

Scott Johnson at Power Line.

In his press briefing last night FBI SAC Matthew DeSarno went out of his way to assert that the “hostage taker” who seized the rabbi and three others at Congregation Beth Israel during Shabbat services yesterday “was specifically focused on an issue not directly connected to the Jewish community…” The AP took this talking point and ran with it, as though Lady AQ might be a nonsectarian cause and jihadism only indirectly targets the Jewish community. Perhaps the hostage rabbi’s call to his colleague in New York at the direction of the “hostage taker” was only coincidentally “connected to the Jewish community.” How do you say “let’s call the whole thing off” in Urdu?

Vaguely referring to the man who must not be named, the AP story adds that “an angry man could be heard ranting and talking about religion at times during the livestream…” Might it have been the “hostage taker”? The FBI and the press treat the American public like children and idiots.

Taharrush at the Duomo in Milan on New Year’s Eve

15th January 2022

Read it.

The culture-enrichers of Milan must have been jealous of their cousins in Cologne: on New Year’s Eve they decided embark upon some gropin’ and rapin’ in the good old taharrush tradition. Due to the surge of the Omicron variant, severe restrictions were in effect in the public spaces of Milan. But that didn’t stop the “New Italians”, who are no respecters of lockdowns, and are not generally held to account for flouting the rules. They proceeded to terrorize a number of young women in the square of the Duomo (Cathedral) with their violent and unwanted attentions.

Getting Away with Murder: The Campaign to End Kuwait’s Honor Crimes Law

12th January 2022

It always surprises me that Islam is the beloved child of the proglodytes, since Muslim culture (which they always try to implement by force whenever the opportunity presents itself) attempts to enshrine everything that proglodytes claim to detest. Is it just Jew-hatred, or something deeper?

While Biden Negotiates, Iran Keeps Trying to Kill Americans

12th January 2022

Read it.

While American forces were able to shoot down the terror drones, these latest acts of Iranian diplomacy came complete with the words “Soleimani’s revenge” scrawled on the drones. The latest Iranian attacks on Americans forces use Soleimani’s death as a pretext, but the attacks began before the Iranian terror boss was killed, and have sharply escalated under Biden in response to his appeasement of the Islamic terror regime.

There were repeated Iran-backed rocket strikes against Americans in Iraq throughout the last year totaling an estimated 25 separate attacks under the Biden administration.

These attacks have mostly gone unpunished.

Illegal Iranian Oil Shipments to China Skyrocketed in 2021

7th January 2022

Read it.

Illicit Iranian oil shipments jumped by 40 percent in 2021, with China and Syria the top importers of this heavily sanctioned crude, according to figures published by a watchdog group that highlight the Biden administration’s lax enforcement of U.S. sanctions.

From 2020 to 2021—when the Biden administration began negotiations with Iran surrounding a revamped nuclear deal and began to unwind sanctions on the hardline regime—Iranian oil exports increased by 123 million barrels, or 40 percent, according to United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), which closely tracks Tehran’s armada of illegal oil tankers.

The major difference between Iran and China is the language they speak and the religion they follow.

Democrats’ Loose Talk of ‘Disqualification’ Still Dangerous

5th January 2022

Read it.

This year, the Biden administration joined many in the United States in criticizing the mass disqualification of 583 candidates in Iran by the Guardian Council. The Iranian elections (like elections in other countries like China and Venezuela) are democratic only in the most artificial sense: You can freely vote from a pre-selected list of candidates.

Electoral disqualification systems are generally anathema to democratic values, but some in the United States are now toying with the idea for the 2022 or 2024 elections. While more modest than the Iranian model, the Democratic calls for disqualification are just as dangerous. What is most maddening is that this anti-democratic effort is cloaked in democratic doublespeak.

Syria: Separation Lethality

5th January 2022

Read it.

The ruling Assad clan has been making visible, and some less public, moves to demonstrate their efforts to curb Iranian activity in Syria. There is a lot of that in Syria and not all of it has anything to do with the Assads. Iran does not, and never did, share details of all its operations in Syria with the Assad government. That was how the Iranians operated and the Assads were expected to accept that. The Assads are now attempting the difficult, and often fatal, act of leaving a partnership with Iran.

Iranian Powerlifter Seeking Asylum in Norway Over Message on T-Shirt

4th January 2022

Read it.

Amir Assadollahzadeh won a medal at the World Club League Championship in Norway in November, but because he did not wear a t-shirt honoring the late Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani after his victory, he was viewed as a rebel by his authoritarian government (the shirt he chose to wear honored the healthcare workers in Iran who worked through COVID).

There is no Muslim-majority nation that has either democracy or what we Americans would consider basic human rights. None. Not one.

Examine the statements and records of Muslims elected to the Congress of the United States. Start with Ilhan Omar, Keith Ellison, and Raisa Tlaib. Do we want such people to have influence over our laws and public policy? I think not.

The distinguishing characteristics of Muslims in government is corruption and oppression. This is universally true.

Peacekeeping: Arab Disaster Zones Are Different

31st December 2021

Read it.

At the end of 2021 the UN reported that a third of the 420 million people in Arab countries do not get enough to eat while 29 percent of adults in these countries suffer from obesity. Worldwide only 13 percent of adults eat too much and are obese. The UN attributes this widespread hunger to the number of long-lasting wars and civil disorder in general. Many governments are at fault but these cannot be named because this is a UN rule that is generally followed, along with not getting involved with internal politics. Another reality not mentioned is that the hunger problem is not inadequate food supplies but the inability to deliver the food to those who need it. Until the end of the Cold War in 199s this was seen as a problem that could be solved and it often was. That is no longer the case and the situation began to change in the 1990s as food aid, and emergency aid in general, was weaponized in many parts of the world.

Nations suffering from chronic violence, lawlessness and massive numbers of refugees are often not that way because of war but because of other factors, including how many foreign aid groups operate, or try to operate there. NGO (Non-Government Organizations) now handle most of the emergency food distribution and tend to have their own ideas of how to handle things. NGO attitudes are often at odds with the locals as well as the foreign nations that provide the cash and goods needed to deal with the avoidable hunger. One problem often leads to another as the NGOs, locals, and donors clash over what to do and how to do it. The main problem is there is more to be done than anyone is willing to pay for. To make matters worse there are always disagreements, sometimes violent, over how to apply the aid. That has forced donors to prioritize where they send aid. That means chronic offenders are getting less, or sometimes no aid from many major donors.

JVP Joins CAIR on Wiesenthal Center’s Global Anti-Semites List

28th December 2021

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is among 10 of the world’s worst anti-Semitic organizations, the Simon Wiesenthal Center said Tuesday while unveiling a new report.

The list, which Wiesenthal Center founder and Dean Marvin Hier said “includes institutions that we never thought we would have to put on our top 10,” also singles out a purportedly Jewish organization. Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) opposes Israel’s existence. And it took advantage of the recent Hanukah holiday to solicit donations to build “a radical, loving, anti-Zionist Jewish movement for liberation.”

US Navy Intercepts Huge Cache of Arms From Iran Near Yemen on “Stateless Ship”

This week the US Navy announced that it seized some 1,400 AK-47 assault rifles and 226,600 rounds of ammunition from a “stateless” fishing vessel after it was intercepted in the North Arabian Sea based on suspicious activity, which led to a “flag verification boarding”.

The illicit weapons and ammunition were then transferred to the guided-missile destroyer USS O’Kane. The five passengers were reportedly Yemeni nationals. Subsequent reports suggested it may have been an Iranian smuggling operation into war-torn Yemen, where Tehran-backed Shia Houthi rebels have for a half-decade been battling the Saudi-UAE coalition which has also long enjoyed the support of the Pentagon.

Oh, and she’s mentally ill. What a surprise!

Why CAIR Merits Attention From All of Us

22nd December 2021

Read it.

As we reported earlier this month, Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) San Francisco director Zahra Billoo recently gave a speech in which she outlined an enemies list for Palestinian advocates.

Her list included the vast majority of American Jewry, whom she dismissed as “polite Zionists,” including people with the Anti-Defamation League, the Jewish Federation, campus Hillel chapters and “Zionist synagogues.”

It’s a stunning expression of hate that, if it targeted any other minority group, would create a firestorm of controversy and generate national news.

But CAIR has yet to say a critical word about Billoo. To the contrary, it posted a statement expressing pride in “the courage she demonstrates in her civil rights work” and saying she is the victim: “we strongly condemn this online smear campaign against our sister and colleague, Zahra Billoo.”

Islam is as much an existential enemy of America as the Communist Party.

Nigeria: The Great Fade

There is less Boko Haram and ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province) activity in the north, particularly Borno state, where both Islamic terrorist groups were founded and thrived for several years. The two groups turned much of northern Borno into an economic wasteland, full of local self-defense groups, anti-terrorist vigilantes and a much more effective military. The Islamic terrorists have experienced heavy personnel losses because of a lack of new recruits while suffering higher losses from sickness and desertion. A combination of hunger, fewer places to loot and more danger from the security forces or armed civilians Boko Haram and its more radical spinoff ISWAP a less attractive career option for the many young Moslem men who are poor, unemployed, and angry.

Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.), and Pramila Jayapal (Wash.), praised its Bay Area director Zahra Billoo as a “widely respected civil rights activist” and said it was “so grateful for the courage she demonstrates in her civil rights work.” The group claimed her speech was being mischaracterized and called the allegations of anti-Semitism a “blatant lie” and “smear campaign.”

Syria: The Last And Worst Obstacle

30th November 2021

Read it.

In the south (Daraa province) there has been an undeclared war between Iranian and Syrian forces since 2018. Anonymous assassins use pistols and hidden bombs to kill those who work, or worked for government forces or Russia and Syria backed local militias. Russian and Assad forces openly force Iran-backed groups and individuals out of the area. There is no open violence because Iran, Syria and Russia are still officially allies. Near the Daraa/Israel border area Russian and Syrian pressure has prevented Iranian attacks on Israel. Russia and Syria have also been checking locals to see if they are Syrian Shia wearing authorized Syrian army or police uniforms rather than Lebanese Shia using stolen uniform as disguises. This border security operation is a big deal for Syria and Israel and a major embarrassment for Iran, which is why Iran has not cranked up its usual media outrage to complain. Israel will sometimes fire on Iranian forces operating in Daraa, especially near the Israeli border. Israel also shares intel with Russia and Syria about Syrian officers who are secretly working for Iran. The Iranians pay well, and in dollars. Israel will sometimes release evidence of this to the media, so that Iranians back home have another reason to oppose Iranian foreign wars. Negotiations have been underway between Iran and Russia/Syria for over a year but are not making much progress. The covert Iranian violence is just another incentive for Syria to get the Iranian agents out of the area.d

Nigeria: Autonomy, Anarchy and Abandonment

18th November 2021

Read it.

Local officials in the northwest (Niger state) claim that more Boko Haram gunmen have been arriving and have taken control of five villages. A security task force is being organized to eliminate that Boko Haram problem. For over a decade Niger State has seen increasing tribal violence and banditry. Both usually involve Fulani tribesmen, who have been active in raiding throughout northern and central Nigeria for generations. The violence is mainly about land use disputes between the nomadic Fulani herders and local farmers. The banditry and raiding are often opportunistic, with locals taking advantage of the chaos, which keeps the security forces occupied, to steal cattle to raid a remote village of another tribe and carry off anything portable of value.

In the last five years the fatalities from this tribal violence have exceeded those caused by Boko Haram, which suffered obvious and massive defeats between 2015 and 2017. That eliminated Boko Haram control of any territory and the group has been surviving through banditry ever since. Boko Haram suffered even greater losses from internal battles. In 2015 a large portion of Boko Haram declared itself part of ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) as ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province). In 2018 a smaller ISIL group ISGS (Islamic State in Greater Sahara) occasionally showed up in Borno.

The harrowing ordeal began – as BBC recounts – like any usual pick-up, but at some point the driver David Perry was alerted by the bomber’s device.

The State Department is working to secure the release of several hostages taken by Iran-backed terrorists after they stormed the U.S. embassy facility in Sana’a, Yemen, U.S. officials told the Washington Free Beacon early Thursday.

A group of Houthi rebels reportedly stormed the U.S. compound on Wednesday seeking “large quantities of equipment and materials,” according to regional reports translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute. The raid comes just five days after the Houthis kidnapped Yemeni nationals who work for the U.S. embassy.

The State Department confirmed to the Free Beacon that the Yemeni staffers are being held hostage and that the Iran-backed militants stole property after breaching the American facility in Sana’a, which housed U.S. embassy staff prior to the suspension of operations there in 2015.

The Biden administration will, of course, do as little as possible.

The Belarusian Connection

For the past few months the government of Belarus has been inflicting a wave of Middle Eastern “refugees” on the European Union through the borders of Lithuania and Poland. The migrants are flown from Turkey or Baghdad to Minsk and then carried by bus or taxi to the borders of the EU. Poland has borne the brunt of this onslaught, and the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border has intensified since the beginning of November.

A “youth” went on a stabbing rampage with a knife on Monday in the French city of Cannes. He attacked a police car and slashed at a policewoman, who was fortunately unharmed, thanks to her bulletproof vest. Two of her colleagues then got out of the vehicle and shot the knifeman, wounding him.

The attacker’s motive is unknown, although “Allahu Akhbar” (Arabic for “defund the police”) features prominently in this news report.

Iranian Drones Cast Intimidating Shadow Over Iraq

9th November 2021

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi survived an armed drone attack Sunday on his official residence in Baghdad that wounded seven of his guards.

The attack, which involved Iranian-made drones, was an assassination attempt that sends a message of intimidation to Kadhimi and any other Iraqis who pose a challenge to the influence of Iran and its proxy militias inside Iraq.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, Iraqi security officials blamed Iran-backed Iraqi militias, which increasingly have challenged the authority of Iraq’s weak coalition government. They claimed that Kataib Hezbollah (“Brigades of the Party of God”) and Asaib Ahl al-Haq (“League of the Righteous”), two of Iran’s most powerful Iraqi surrogates, carried out the attack.

Those two Iraqi Shia militias also have launched many drone and rocket attacks on U.S. military personnel supporting the Iraqi armed forces. In January 2020, the United States retaliated for repeated attacks on American troops in Iraq by launching a drone strike that killed the commander of Kataib Hezbollah and his Iranian master, Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the leader of the elite Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The Quds Force, which trains and equips Iran’s network of regional proxy groups, has transferred thousands of drones, rockets, and missiles to Iran-backed groups in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and Yemen.
