Saudi Arabia has executed 213 people so far in 2024, more than it has in any other calendar year on record, as the kingdom competes for a seat at the UN Human Rights Council (HRC).

According to the London-based rights group Reprieve, which documents the death penalty worldwide, the largest recorded figure prior to this year was 196 in 2022, followed by 184 in 2019. “As the world’s attention fixates on horror elsewhere in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia is clearing death row with a bloodbath,” Reprieve’s deputy director, Harriet McCulloch, told MEE.

“The Kingdom smashed its own grim record for most people executed in a year in the first nine months of 2024,” she added. “With 213 executions and counting, death row prisoners are at greater risk than ever before, their families desperately awaiting news of their fate in the news.”

A Palestinian-owned cafe in Oakland, California, has introduced a menu to celebrate its first anniversary that includes an item celebrating the leader of Hamas.

Near the bottom of its menu, the Jerusalem Coffee House advertises the “Sweet Sinwar” orange, ginger, and carrot juice. The $10 drink shares a name with Yahya Sinwar, the terror group’s leader and architect of its Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel.

The cafe released the menu on Monday, the first anniversary of the attack and a day that featured competing pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian rallies across the United States, as well as expressions of communal mourning in Jewish communities.

A 13-year-old boy has been apprehended by Swedish police after a shooting by Israeli company Elbit Systems’ building in Gothenburg. While nobody was injured in the shooting, the suspected shooter is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated weapons offenses. Police said the boy was not from the area but appeared to have traveled there for the purpose of committing a crime.

Elbit Systems, a defense technology contractor, has been the target of protests and attempted sabotage before. In December, the company was targeted by protesters spray painting slogans on the building and in June, a live explosive device was found outside the company’s office. The company has also been the focus of protests in Gothenburg city center, and its UK headquarters was targeted by violent anti-Israel protesters in August.

While it’s unknown whether the actual perpetrators of the latest attacks on Israeli targets in Sweden and Denmark have ideological motives, Swedish security services Säpo have reason to believe the people at the top do.

A leading UK journalist has expressed outrage after a Wikipedia page dedicated to the grooming gangs scandal in which approximately 1,400 girls were abused over decades was changed.

As Gript previously reported, thousands of girls in the UK were drugged, raped, trafficked, and beaten by groups which were “almost exclusively” comprised of Muslim men, mostly of Pakistani origin according to former Greater Manchester Police detective turned whistle-blower, Maggie Oliver.

Speaking to Gript, journalist Charlie Peters – who has reportedly extensively on the grooming gangs scandal and worked closely with numerous victims – said, “The state-endorsed narrative is that the grooming gangs scandal is a right-wing myth propagated by extremists, with a 2020 Home Office report released under Priti Patel’s leadership facilitating much of that agenda.”

The French school hierarchy’s inability to combat militant Islamism was once again made obvious when a teacher was slapped by a Muslim student after asking her to remove her veil, worn in violation of French law.

The incident took place on Monday, October 7th. A student in her final year of secondary school, aged 18, put on her headscarf as she was preparing to leave the school at 4:30 p.m. The wearing of religious insignia is normally prohibited on the premises of a state secondary school. According to the initial investigation, a teacher approached the girl and asked her to remove her headscarf. The student responded to the request with insults, while continuing towards the exit. The teacher then caught up with her and asked for her identity, while preventing her from leaving the building. The student then slapped the teacher, who hit her back. The girl eventually fled, before being caught at her home and taken into custody. The teacher immediately lodged a complaint.

The student was previously unknown to the police, but her father is already known for offences against secularism. He maintains that it was the teacher who struck the first blow. The girl was due to be tried on Wednesday, October 9th, but was granted an extension until December. She attended Wednesday’s hearing unveiled. She will be tried for “violence resulting in less than eight days’ absence from work” and” threatening to kill a public official.” The young woman admitted that she had slapped the teacher but denied having made any death threats. Former Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, MP for the Tourcoing constituency where the incident took place, said that the incident had been confirmed by the school’s CCTV.

We seem to have reached a hinge moment in the long-running battle against the Islamic State. In recent months, the jihadist outfit has been mustering forces in Syria’s Badiya desert, recruiting and training a new band of holy warriors to resurrect its dream of ruling a caliphate. The rallying of jihadist forces and the corresponding outburst of violence have not been out of the ordinary in this vast ungoverned space, but they may yet prove combustible enough to engulf Syria and parts of Iraq.

This year, the number of attacks in Syria and Iraq has doubled. The primary targets of the growing insurgency have been US garrisons in Syria and units of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Kurdish-led troops whom the US helped to defeat the militant group five years ago. The jihadists’ immediate objective has been to curtail counter-terrorism patrols and free thousands of their confederates from jail, where they have languished since the SDF and US-led coalition recaptured the Islamic State’s last bastion.

Since laying waste to the caliphate in 2019, the US has maintained a small but robust military presence in Syria and Iraq, conducting a largely surreptitious campaign to suppress the remnants of IS. US warplanes carry out airstrikes and provide live aerial surveillance to SDF ground forces conducting raids on suspected Islamic State cells. Occasionally, American commandos undertake missions of their own to kill or capture senior Islamic State leaders. In 2024, the SDF has reportedly captured 233 Islamic State fighters in 28 operations while American aircraft have conducted three strikes on Islamic State targets in Syria and one in Iraq. This level of kinetic activity mirrors 2023, when the US carried out four strikes against Islamic State.

An investigation commissioned by the Swedish government recommends banning cousin marriages and also proposes making marriages between close relatives—such as an uncle and his brother’s child, or half-siblings—illegal.

The investigation points out that cousin marriages are linked to honor-based norms, and that there is a specific risk of girls and women facing ‘honor-related oppression’ in these marriages. It also highlights that cousin marriages today happen to a considerable extent in Sweden.

The proposed ban would apply to marriages in Sweden but also mean the country would not recognize such marriages conducted in other countries.

Pakistan is notorious for its forced first-cousin and uncle-niece marriages, with the consequent deleterious genetic results.

Although not explicitly cited as the reason for Sweden’s proposed ban on cousin marriages, the risk of congenital disabilities is twice as high in children whose parents are closely related, studies show.

Zulfiqar Khan, an imam from Pakistan, has been expelled from Italy following accusations that he supports extreme jihadist ideologies and backs the Hamas terror group.

According to Il Giornale, Khan, who had been serving as an imam at a mosque in Bologna, was detained and is awaiting a hearing to confirm the order issued by the Interior Ministry.

Columbia University student Khymani James is standing by comments he made in the spring fantasizing about “murdering Zionists” and saying “Zionists don’t deserve to live.” He said in a string of Tuesday social media posts that he “never wrote” an April apology he issued over the remarks, which got him suspended and attracted international media attention, adding, “Anything I said, I meant it.”

James shared a letter from Columbia University Apartheid Divest, the student group behind the illegal encampment that plagued campus at the time of his infamous remarks, to his X followers on Tuesday afternoon. The group apologized for its past treatment of James, saying a “so-called ‘apology'” it released on his behalf in April caused him”irrevocable harm” and exposed him “to even more hatred from white supremacist and queerphobic liberals and fascists.” The letter also endorsed “liberation by any means necessary, including armed resistance” and said “violence is the only path forward.”

James responded by thanking his “comrades” for their “beautiful, powerful” words. He said he “couldn’t agree more” with the endorsement of violence.

“I never wrote the neo-liberal apology posted in late April, and I’m glad we’ve set the record straight once and for all. I will not allow anyone to shame me for my politics,” he wrote. “Anything I said, I meant it.”

In the last two months, Iran set up fake news sites to defame Trump and promote Kamala, hacked the Trump campaign and tried to pass stolen documents to the Harris-Walz campaign and its media allies, and finally plotted to assassinate former President Trump and his officials.

A new report published by the House Homeland Security Committee finds that “foreign jihadist networks and homegrown violent extremists” represent a “persistent terror threat to America.”

The committee’s report identifies over 50 cases in 29 U.S. states between April 2021 and September 2024, including dozens of attempts to provide material support to designated Islamist foreign terrorist organizations such as ISIS, Hezbollah, and al-Qaeda, with individuals receiving military-type training from ISIS and Hezbollah as well as committing fraud.

On Saturday a 4.5-magnitude seismic event occurred in Iran’s Semnan province, sparking speculation that Iran has tested a nuclear weapon for the first time. Such a seismic event is typically the result of an earthquake, but speculation has arisen on social media suggesting the event was instead an underground nuclear test carried out by the Islamic Republic in response to Israeli threats to bomb Tehran’s nuclear energy and oil facilities.

According to Iranian sources speaking with The Cradle, the possibility that a nuclear test was indeed conducted is being discussed at high levels in Iran. Syrian sources speaking with The Cradle in September predicted that Iran would seek to develop breakout nuclear weapons capability in response to Israel’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

One year on from the October 7th terror attacks, commemorative events are taking place across Israel today, while Hamas terrorists continue to fire rockets from the Gaza Strip.

At least four projectiles were fired into Israel in the early hours, which Hamas claimed were targeted at “enemy gatherings.” Three of the projectiles were reportedly intercepted by the Israeli Air Force, while the fourth was found in an open area. Two women in the 30s were treated by paramedics after sustaining light wounds from shrapnel.

The world was today—on the anniversary of the October 7th terror attacks, which saw Hamas massacre more than 1,200 Israelis—sent another reminder of the Iran-backed terrorist organisation’s butchery, as an Israeli hostage previously believed to be alive in Hamas captivity was announced dead.

Three Moroccan asylum seekers escaped from a reception room at Madrid’s Barajas Airport on Sunday night, marking the second such incident in just over a week. The individuals were among a group of six asylum seekers waiting for their international protection requests to be processed. While three were apprehended by the National Police, the other three remain at large. This latest escape has further intensified concerns over the deteriorating conditions at the airport’s detention facilities.

The Objective reports that sources from Spain’s Interior Ministry and the police union Jupol said the asylum seekers managed to escape through a hole in the ceiling of one of the airport’s reception rooms, the same breach used by four other Moroccan asylum seekers during a similar escape on October 2nd.

The fact that the hole had not been repaired despite the previous incident has sparked criticism. Ibón Domínguez, a spokesman for Jupol, condemned the situation, saying that “the non-admitted room of Barajas does not meet the minimum conditions of safety and health.”

Across Europe, authorities are bracing for a wave of protests and violence as the first anniversary of the October 7th Hamas terror attacks on Israel approaches. Ministers and security forces in several countries have warned of heightened unrest in major cities as Islamists and their left-wing allies celebrate the attack and protest Israel’s response.

In Berlin, a march is scheduled from the Brandenburg Gate to Bebelplatz on October 6th. Die Welt reports that security forces have warned of potential overload due to the scale of protests. The German Police Union (GdP) has issued a stark warning, saying, “We are looking at the coming days with great concern,” said Benjamin Jendro, spokesman for the GdP in Berlin. UK-based anti-Israel organization Palestine Action sent several of its far-left radical members to attack the Teledyne CML Composites factory in Bromborough, UK, which it claims supplies critical parts for F-35 stealth fighters.

Palestine Action’s X account posted a viral video on Tuesday showing its ‘Actionists’ – or ‘agents of change’ – conducting a rooftop entry into the factory, breaking through the ceiling panels, and comprising what the group claims is a ‘clean room’ for F-35 jet part production.

“According to a senior Teledyne manager, contamination of their clean rooms could stop production for up to 12 months. Actionists just got through to the clean room for Israel’s F-35 fighter jet parts,” Palestine Action said.

On August 5, Bangladesh’s prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, was forced to resign and flee to India after student-led protests turned into a violent demand for change in the country. The political and social upheaval that has followed has devastated Christians, Hindus, and other religious minorities. Islamists are exploiting the unrest to attack them with impunity.

According to reports and social media posts from the region, many houses and farms belonging to religious minorities have been destroyed, with their possessions and livestock looted as well. Both Christians and Hindus have been beaten, raped, murdered, and pressured to abandon their homes. Many of those not driven from their homes remain in hiding out of a fear of persecution, according to Open Doors, which monitors Christian persecution globally.

A young hostage kidnapped by ISIS terrorists at age 11 and then held by Hamas for a decade has been rescued by Israeli forces in Gaza after a months-long operation led by the US, officials said Thursday.

Fawzia Amin Sido, 21, was freed earlier this week, with footage showing her being embraced tightly by her emotional family soon after touching back down in her native Iraq.

“Fawzia, a Yazidi girl kidnapped by ISIS from Iraq and brought to Gaza at just 11 years old, has finally been rescued by the Israeli security forces,” tweeted David Saranga, the director of the digital diplomacy bureau at Israel’s foreign ministry.

Two Swedish teenagers were jailed Thursday in pre-trial detention in connection with two predawn explosions in the vicinity of the Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen a day earlier. Prosecutors said investigators were establishing “whether the motive could be a terror attack.”

No one was injured in the blasts on early Wednesday in a neighborhood with several foreign diplomatic missions, though the nearby Jewish school was closed following the explosions.

The pair, who cannot be identified under a court order, were ordered held for 27 days. They faced preliminary charges of possessing illegal weapons and carrying five hand grenades. Two of the grenades blew up when the suspects threw them at a house near the embassy, prosecutor Søren Harbo said.

“This was pretty close to the Israeli Embassy,” Harbo said before Thursday’s court hearing. The explosions caused damage to a roof terrace of a nearby house. The diplomatic mission was not harmed.

Just a week after the murder of young Philippine in the Bois de Boulogne near Paris, involving a Moroccan migrant facing deportation, another murder has stirred up French public opinion: that of a 17-year-old man, Kilian Binard, who was stabbed to death on Sunday, September 29th in Normandy. This time, the suspect is of Algerian nationality.

According to the initial findings of the investigation, the stabbing occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 29th, as the young man was leaving a nightclub near Bayeux. The victim, a 17-year-old boxer, became involved in a fight involving around twenty people in the nightclub car park. The suspect allegedly hit Kilian in the back and neck with a knife recovered from his car.

The suspect, an Algerian national, was in possession of a ten-year residence permit that had recently been renewed. The permit was withdrawn after Kilian’s murder. The man initially denied all charges against him, before admitting that he had picked up a knife during the fight, “unfolded the blade and used it to strike the first person in front of him, which he said had no intention of killing,” according to the prosecutor in charge of the investigation.
