The number of people illegally crossing the English Channel to the UK hit a record high in the first half of 2024, official figures published on Thursday August 22nd show.

The news follows publication of data showing how the Home Office in the final phase of the most recent Conservative Party government accepted record numbers of asylum applications.

A total of 13,489 migrants who arrived on small boats was recorded in the first six months of 2024—an 18% jump in the year-on-year figures—just prior to the election of a Labour government. In comparison, from January to June 2023, 11,433 migrants made the journey.

The German traffic light coalition is considering paying “financial travel support” to asylum seekers set to be deported to Afghanistan, Bild reports. Critics question why the country would reward foreigners with no residency rights to do what they are supposed to do anyway—leave the country.

Providing rejected migrants with ‘start-up money’ for food and housing is intended to encourage them to leave, but also to help avoid legal challenges, Germany’s interior ministry said. Failed asylum seekers have in the past challenged deportation orders on grounds of being returned to abject poverty.

Programs already exist in different German states to assist rejected asylum seekers who return to their home countries voluntarily. Amounts can range from a few hundred to “several thousand euros,” Bild says—amounts that are still small compared to the cost of having the migrants remain in Germany.

The number of illegal immigrants deported from Spain has dropped to a new low as the Canary Islands struggle to deal with a growing migration crisis.

According to Interior Ministry figures, reported by El Debate, of the more than 29,000 illegal migrants who have arrived in the islands so far this year, only 3% have been sent back.

On top of this, the ministry estimates that by the end of the year, the total arrivals could reach between 45,000 and 50,000.

I first heard the word “Islamism” in a video of a 2010 debate between Maajid Nawaz, Zeba Khan, Douglas Murray, and Ayan Hirsi Ali. international organized crime gangs after a surge of incidents in neighboring Norway and Denmark, justice ministers of Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo announced during their joint press conference on Wednesday, August 21st.

These efforts will include “joint operations and joint patrolling,” primarily in Sweden and at the request of the Swedish police, Norwegian Justice Minister Emilie Enger Mehl told the media in the Danish capital.

Despite its anodyne name, Jewish Voice for Peace enflames anti-Israel sentiment. On the very day that Hamas terrorists raped, murdered, and took hostages in Israel (Oct. 7, 2023), JVP leaders blamed “Israeli apartheid and occupation” as “the source of all this violence.”

In the weeks afterward, Jewish Voice for Peace rallygoers in Providence, Rhode Island, chanted, “Hey hey, ho ho, the Yahudi [Jews] have got to go!” JVP speakers in Philadelphia stated: “The anticolonial armed resistance out of the Gaza Strip was provoked by decades of Israeli state-sanctioned violence and to report it otherwise is false and misleading.”

This underscores my suspicion that Islam is a deliberate attempt by Satan to extirpate the Chosen People of God. Prove me wrong.

The sentence handed out to David Spring is the latest shocking example of how low the bar has now been set in terms of free speech in response to rioting that occurred after the murder of three girls in Southport last month.

Spring attended a demonstration of around 700 people in London on July 31 which turned disorderly.

Police bodycam footage that was played in court showed Spring calling police officers “cunts,” making “hostile gestures” and joining in with chants of “who the fuck is Allah” and “you’re not English anymore.”

Besides the Columbia students, attorney Stanley Cohen’s clients have included a Hamas cofounder and Osama Bin Laden’s son-in-law. Cohen has also repeatedly posed for pictures with Hamas honchos and defended the terrorist group’s violence.

“Hamas is not a person. It is not a movement. It is not an ideology,” Cohen wrote while mourning Haniyeh’s July 31 assassination. “It is the winds of freedom, justice and equality that can never be stolen from the hearts and souls of millions.”

Israel has informed Washington that if Hezbollah harms more civilians in a retaliation campaign for the assassination of its top military commander Fuad Shukr last week, Israel’s military will have no choice but to launch a disproportionate response.

On July 10, a Catholic man in Pakistan was gunned down. Marshall Masih, 29, was the father of four children and was targeted by Muslim neighbors after he objected to their harassment of local Christians, his family said.

Masih is one of the latest victims of severe Christian persecution in Pakistan, which is rated 7th on the Global Watch List produced by Open Doors, an organization that monitors global Christian persecution.

According to Open Doors’ 2023 “Pakistan: Full Country Dossier,” Christians in Pakistan were killed for faith-related reasons (including state-sanctioned executions). Churches and other Christian properties (houses, shops, businesses, schools, hospitals, and cemeteries, among others) were attacked, damaged, bombed, looted, destroyed, burned down, closed, or confiscated.

Christians have been detained, sentenced to jail or labor camps, and sent to psychiatric hospitals as punishment. They were otherwise physically or mentally abused (including beatings and death threats). Some were forced to leave their homes, go into hiding, or leave the country because of their faith. They were exposed to all these abuses for the ‘crime’ of being Christian.

Imagine what would happen if a ‘Christian’ country did that to Muslims.

A 19-year-old man arrested in Vienna on Wednesday had been planning a suicide attack at a Taylor Swift concert in the Austrian capital, local intelligence services announced on Thursday, August 8th.

“He said he intended to carry out an attack using explosives and knives. His aim was to kill himself and a large number of people during the concert, either today or tomorrow,” the head of the domestic intelligence agency, Omar Haijawi-Pirchner told a news conference. He was referring to three concerts by the U.S. pop singer that were supposed to take place at the Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but were cancelled due to the terror threat.

Denmark should not rule out the possibility of reinstating border checks on the Øresund Bridge that connects Copenhagen with Malmö, Sweden’s third-largest city, Danish Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard said on Wednesday, August 7th. His statement followed the arrest of two “Swedish” nationals in relation to an explosion in the capital a day prior.

The fact that there’s a renewed discussion about reintroducing border checks between two EU members belonging to the Schengen area proves the point of the conservative parties in Brussels, who have long been saying that unchecked immigration crossing the EU’s external borders will eventually be the death of the bloc’s precious free movement zone.

The 24-year-old perpetrators of Tuesday’s Copenhagen attack, a man and a woman, are believed to have entered the country by crossing the Øresund Bridge before throwing some kind of explosive device into a kiosk in Østerbro, downtown Copenhagen. Luckily, no one was wounded in the incident and the perpetrators were quickly arrested. The police refused to give any further information about them, including whether they had Swedish citizenship or not.

The incident was not an isolated case. The bombing was the fourth case in less than a week involving armed perpetrators from across the strait, with ‘Swedish youth’ involved in three separate shootings in Copenhagen last weekend.

The United Nations’ Palestinian refugee agency has spent more than nine months denying its employees work alongside Hamas, dismissing these claims as Israeli propaganda. On Monday, the organization fired nine staffers for participating in the Oct. 7 terror spree that killed more than 1,200 Israelis.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announced that it will fire a handful of its employees based in the Gaza Strip for working alongside Hamas as it slaughtered Israeli civilians. “For nine people,” UNRWA spokesman Farhan Haq said, “the evidence was sufficient to conclude that they may have been involved in the seventh of October attacks.”

It marks an abrupt about-face for the contested humanitarian group, which has long faced accusations that its employees double as Hamas agents and divert aid to the terror group. Israel alleges that at least 12 UNRWA employees directly participated in the Oct. 7 attack and that around 10 percent of its workforce is affiliated with the terror group, including around 450 employees who serve as Hamas foot soldiers.

After a two-week lull, Iran-backed Houthis targeted a Liberian-flagged container ship traveling through the Gulf of Aden, and rebel forces claimed to have downed a US military spy drone this weekend.

Bloomberg reported a Houthi missile struck the container ship “Groton” just above the waterline, causing minor damage to the hull.

An anti-Israel group that scorned Joe Biden’s reelection bid over the president’s response to the Jewish state’s war on Hamas is now embracing Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she is more likely to push for a permanent ceasefire that would embolden Hamas.

The Black Muslim Leadership Council Fund endorsed Harris on Thursday, according to NBC News, making it the first Muslim group to back Harris that previously declared itself “uncommitted” toward Biden.

Harris, the group’s founder Salima Suswell said, received the group’s support because she skipped Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s congressional address and has otherwise “shown more sympathy towards the people of Gaza.” As a result, the group is hopeful that Harris will help it achieve its policy goals, which include an end to Israel’s war on Hamas that would establish the “rebuilding of Gaza as a Palestinian region, with no Israeli oversight.”

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin has revoked a pre-trial agreement reached with men accused of plotting the 11 September 2001 attacks.

In a memo on Friday, Mr Austin also said he was revoking the authority of the officer overseeing the military court who signed the agreement on Wednesday.

The original deal, which would reportedly have spared the alleged attackers the death penalty, was criticised by some families of victims.

A Shia sect claims to be raising money to buy a remote territory in Scotland, which it would rule under Shia law.

Sheikh Yasser al-Habib and his Mahdi Servants Union (MSU) group are preparing such a bid. The cleric was in advanced talks to buy Torsa, a 270-acre island off the coast of Oban, Western Scotland, reports the Telegraph. To date, nearly £3 million (€3,557,280) of a £3.5 million target has been raised towards this target.

An MSU supporter filmed Torsa and two smaller neighbouring islands. This footage was included in videos posted to his Fadak TV channel, based in Fulmer, Buckinghamshire, in which al-Habib says the island represents an “irreplaceable opportunity” to create a “homeland” for his brand of Shia Islam, administered under his interpretation of Sharia law. Promised new buildings include a Mosque, a hospital, and a hawsa (Shia seminary).

The Suez canal blockade by Yemen’s Iran-backed Shia Houthi militia and shipping continues. Ships traveling north in the Red Sea towards the Suez Canal have been under attack by the Houthis since late 2023. The Houthis are at war with Israel and still fire at ships more or less at random, though they contend they only fire on ships serving Israel. So far 60 ships have been attacked and half of them damaged. Two ships were sunk while two others were boarded by Houthi gunmen and captured. One was later released but the other one is still being held. Four sailors have been killed and eight wounded.

An organizer for a prominent anti-Israel group complains that some “Palestinian political organizations” that he considers allies have been “criminalized.” His group doesn’t say which ones, though.

Mohammed Nabulsi, a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement, appeared to refer to organizations internationally recognized as foreign terrorist groups during an interview with the International Journal of Socialist Renewal, a left-wing publication.

The International Journal, which published the interview Friday, asked Nabulsi about the Palestinian Youth Movement’s “relations with organizations in Palestine.”

“It’s very difficult for us to directly engage Palestinian political organizations, because the dominant ones that are carrying the movement are deemed illegal and criminalized,” Nabulsi, a Houston lawyer, replied. “You really can’t engage in a direct way or in a coordinated way.”
