I am getting very tired of all of the pretended ‘fact checks’ that occupy what is available to read on the Internet these days. Most of them aren’t ‘fact checks’ at all, but merely an excuse to assert the writer’s opinion as superior to that of whomever is being ‘fact checked’.

The ‘fact check’ originated in journalism as a way of verifying that something asserted as fact in an article was, in truth, a ‘fact’, i.e. something that actually existed in reality, presumably as opposed to an opinion, upon which rational minds might disagree. Fact checks were undertaken by people hired by a publican for that purpose, much like the similar assistants who were assigned to verify the origin of quotations and those who edited copy to make sure it conformed to correct spelling, grammar, and style.

That notion has in recent times been weaponized and is now wielded by people who are most accurately characterized as busy-body know-it-alls, people who mistake their own opinions for Truth and aren’t shy about sharing that supposition with the rest of us.

According to authorities, 20-year-old Armando Hernandez, Jr. walked into a shopping center in Glendale, AZ last Thursday and started randomly firing his semi-automatic rifle at people because he suffered from the “feeling that women don’t want him.”

Ed Leiter of Maricopa County Attorney’s Office told a judge on Thursday that Hernandez was a self-admitted “incel” (involuntary celibate) who was “deeply angered” by the fact that women rejected him and wished to make them “feel the pain he feels on a daily basis.” He said that Hernandez had been plotting a mass shooting for three or four years and wanted to shoot at least 10 people—primarily couples who appeared to have been engaged in happy sexual relationships. Hernandez only managed to critically injure one person before authorities subdued him.

The day before Hernandez’s rampage, Canadian authorities lodged terrorism charges against unnamed 17-year-old boy who is accused of walking into a Toronto “erotic massage parlor” on February 24 and stabbing one women to death before another woman wrestled his machete from him and stabbed him in the back, allowing police to arrest him at the scene.

For all you hear about an alleged wave of white-supremacist terrorist killings in North America, it appears that the incels are currently stacking up more bodies than all the Nazis combined. Some estimate that since 2014, self-admitted incels and people whose social-media histories reveal extensive activity on incel forums have committed a minimum of seven mass murders that left 54 people dead.

Over its 100-year history, the ACLU has—to its credit—vexed both sides of the political aisle because it refused to compromise the principles of its “civil libertarianism.”

Sadly, that is no longer the case. In recent years, the group has retreated from its principles when they clash with trendy left-wing priorities.

By now, the ACLU’s retreat from the First Amendment is well documented. It will not defend the First Amendment rights of pro-life pregnancy centers or small religious businesses. It no longer defends religious freedom, although it once did. And in a leaked internal memo, the ACLU takes the position that free speech denigrating “marginalized groups” should not be defended.

Sadder yet, however, is the ACLU’s recent abandonment of the right to due process. For a group founded to help the powerless, this is a repudiation of its founding ideals.

He did this deliberately. Why?

It’s hard to think of a reason why — these people could have been isolated in the thousands of unused temporary hospital berths built to… well, to keep coronavirus patients isolated.

Instead he ordered them back into nursing homes, to infect other people of a very high risk of dying from the disease.

And die they did.

Regardless of the facts of the case, the media has trotted out its standard story of an innocent black man being subjected, like so many others before him, to the racist violence that, we are to believe, defines life for blacks in the contemporary United States.

In reality, most violence in the U.S. is intra-racial, but when it comes to interracial violence, blacks are considerably overrepresented, as they are in regard to violent crime generally. Still, the constant media hype obscures these simple truths, which people nevertheless know to be true from their own experience. Whenever, for example, people speak of “a bad neighborhood” in an inner city, it’s taken for granted that the neighborhood is a black one.

After a six-hour firefight with the police, the shooter, a 29-year-old black man, was dead—whether at police hands or his own remains unknown.

In contrast to Arbery’s killing, this second interracial killing case has gotten virtually zero national media attention through Tuesday morning, even though it’s fairly spectacular in scale and quite curious in motive. For example, an eyewitness speculated that the killer appeared to have brought extra ammunition for his planned shoot-out to the death with the police.

On January 8, London Breed, San Francisco’s mayor, was sworn in for her first full term. The city’s department of public works deploys feces cleaners daily—a “poop patrol” to wash the filth from the sidewalks.

As the number of confirmed coronavirus cases explodes across Africa, the creeping involvement of the WHO has made some leaders suspicious of the NGO. Tanzanian President John Magufuli was growing suspicious of the organization, so he reportedly decided to investigate whether the organization was as trustworthy and reliable as it claimed to be.

He played what the local press described as “a trick” on the organization: He sent the WHO samples of a goat, a papaya and a quail for testing.
