The apogee of this phenomenon is Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, both of whom have blurted out this week that their prospective tenure in the White House will be a “Harris-Biden Administration” or, in Kamala’s more blunt formulation, a “Harris Administration.” What’s amusing about this obviously Freudian slip is that it describes what we all know is on the table if the Democrats win. Of course, that’s also what’s blood-curdlingly terrifying about it.

Biden is deteriorating. There’s just no kind or delicate way around this point, although of course we don’t relish the man’s decline or take the suffering of old age lightly. Had Biden been left at home to watch the twilight of his years descend with dignity, we would wish him only the best. As it is, however, the Democrats have forced us to state the obvious by running a campaign which looks like the climactic scene from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The man can’t hold a microphone steady at this point, let alone form a coherent sentence.

An alleged Portland rioter was indicted Tuesday on charges that he pointed a “high-powered laser” at the eyes of a city police sergeant.

Bryan Kelley, 36, is accused of injuring the cop during a riot in late August, according to a press release from the Multnomah District Attorney’s Office. The 36-year-old faces second degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of unlawfully utilizing a laser pointer, the release detailed.

The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) released a video of the laser allegedly used by Kelley, which shows the bright purple beam burning a hole in what appears to be a thin piece of cardboard.

A Democrat bureaucrat finally said what we all have known to be the truth: the Wuhan virus limitations that Democrat politicians and bureaucrats have imposed on Americans will go away after the election because that was the plan all along.

As 2019 ended, the Democrats knew that Trump was cruising to re-election. He’d kept his base because he kept his promises about the wall, trade deals, the military, abortion, and our Second Amendment rights. Best of all, he’d supercharged the economy with tax and regulation cuts. The surging economy enticed other Americans who had not voted for Trump in 2016 to contemplate voting for him in 2020.

The Democrats’ troubles continued in 2020. In January, their impeachment imploded. Worst of all, the Democrat primary candidates did not excite the base. The only passion was for a spittle-flecked, wild-haired old communist, and the Democrats knew that, even in 2020, nominating a communist was a bridge too far. The Wuhan virus was an extraordinary and unlooked-for blessing for the Democrats because they used it to destroy Trump’s economy.

I love the smell of conspiracy in the morning. Personally, I don’t think that there are enough Democrats who have the wit to look that far ahead. But that’s me.

In Portland, the police are leaving the force. More have left in the last month than in the whole of the previous year. A backlog in paperwork probably conceals that many more have filed for retirement. The reason for this lies in the cowardly, detestable, and fickle political leadership of the city, which has refused to do anything as the city is torn apart by rioting. Politicians running against the current mayor are, if anything, even crazier than he is. The front runner is avowed Antifa.

The police chief there, Jami Resch, resigned amid criticism of her department coming from the city council. It seems they didn’t like Resch’s attempts to crack down on rioting.

One wonders what will be left of Portland in another year or so. The fact that they are poised to elect an Antifa member as mayor bespeaks a city-wide suicide pact.

I think they believe that military intervention might determine who serves as president. The charitable version is that they fear a defeated Trump won’t leave the White House, thus requiring military action to remove him. Another version is that Democrats don’t intend to accept a Trump victory in a close election, and will want the military to help it oust a victorious Trump. (A variation on both versions is that there won’t be a clear winner.)

In an article titled, ‘Erdogan’s calculated war,‘ the German newspaper Die Welt quoted sources from the Turkish military saying that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had recently ordered his generals to sink a Greek warship, without inflicting casualties. They refused. Then came the suggestion to down a Greek aircraft. Again, they refused.

But notice what’s missing from Biden’s statement. As Rich Lowry notes, Biden never identified anyone as the people he was condemning, other than “right wing militias.” At most, he allowed, he was against riots, arson, looting, and assaults “whether on the left or the right” — in the abstract, without conceding that anybody on his side of the political spectrum, or anybody engaged in protests for left-wing causes, or anybody listening to voices on the left or voices in the Democratic coalition, was responsible for anything whatsoever. Never mind, say, the Portland shooter describing himself as “100 % ANTIFA all the way!” Or the progressive New York lawyers who threw Molotov cocktails at police. Or the Black Lives Matter protest organizer arrested for torching the Wendy’s in Atlanta where police shot Rayshard Brooks. Or the Black Lives Matter protester from Alaska who set fire to a police station in Seattle with officers inside. Or the Black Lives Matter protester arrested for throwing rocks at a truck with a Trump sign. Or the Black Lives Matter protester charged with attempted murder for shooting a man he called a “white supremacist” in Provo. The death of George Perry Floyd, Jr. on May 25, 2020 was universally condemned by American society. Citizens of all races, colors, and creeds watched the video and saw a problem in need of redress. Millions of citizens across the entire country marched peacefully to petition our government to address something. The challenge was: how to reform the police to restore to the mindset of “to protect and to serve” when some portion of officers seem to have come to view their role as “to oppress and to rule”?

Such peaceful protests continue today; however, Marxist political organizations—such as Antifa, BLM, and the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL)—operate alongside the movement for police reform and seek to create the appearance that the millions of peaceful protestors in the streets support their radical agenda to transform America into a socialist state.
