The Limits of American Progressivism

13th November 2025

Quillette.

When New Yorkers elected Zohran Mamdani as their mayor on 4 November, many commentators and politicians treated the result as a political earthquake. In his victory speech, Mamdani also adopted the language of epochal change. “New York will remain a city of immigrants,” he told supporters, “a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant.” Then, quoting Jawaharlal Nehru, he cast his election as a wild new watershed: “A moment comes, but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new. … Tonight, we have stepped out from the old into the new.”

For progressives, Mamdani’s rhetoric was exhilarating. The Guardian’s Margaret Sullivan reported that his message possessed “a clarity that stands in sharp contrast to most Democratic politicians,” while others on the Left saw his win as proof that the city’s younger voters—many of whom are renters struggling with the cost of living—were finally asserting themselves against decades of failed centrist compromise. On the Right, meanwhile, people reacted with the same intensity but the opposite emotion. Republican Representative Nicole Malliotakis spoke for many conservatives when she warned that the result would be “a disaster.” Her mother, she added, “fled communist Cuba to not live in a communist New York.” President Trump went further, calling Mamdani “a 100% Communist lunatic” and predicting economic ruin (although he hasn’t given Mamdani a Trump nickname yet).

Both sides, in their own way, reinforced the sense that something extraordinary had just happened. However, history and the constraints of American federalism suggest that the euphoria and catastrophism are misplaced. Campaign idealism may have propelled Mamdani to power, but the arithmetic of governing New York tells a different story. The city has been here before, after all, from Fiorello La Guardia’s New Deal municipalism to Bill de Blasio’s “Tale of Two Cities.” The details change, but the structural constraints on ambitious mayoral candidates do not.

Top Catholic Bishop: No Communion for Pro-Abortion Pols

13th November 2025

Read it.

Archbishop Paul Stagg Coakley, elected this week as the new president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has steadfastly maintained that pro-abortion lawmakers should not receive Holy Communion.

That includes former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., LifeNews reported Wednesday.

Coakley, archbishop of Oklahoma City, was elected Tuesday and will serve a three-year term as president of the USCCB. He has established a long-standing record of supporting the denial of Communion to certain politicians, a stance he has held for more than a decade.

And about time, too.

Leftists Seek to Sabotage Conservative-Run Communities Before They Start

12th November 2025

Read it.

It’s an outcome that survival and preparedness experts have been predicting for years: The engineered decline of US cities into lawlessness supported by progressive political relativism, leading to an exodus of conservatives (and anyone else with a brain) to rural America.

The formation of separate conservative communities is a natural response to the political divisiveness of far-left controlled urban centers, as well as the disturbing revelations of pandemic lockdown hysteria in blue cities and states. However, when dealing with any progressive movement it’s important to remember that communists and their ideological cousins don’t like it when the people they are trying to control walk away and start their own thing.

This is not allowed. You’re supposed to stick around and act as their punching bag.

Chicago has experienced a dramatic double-digit decline in violent crime since the launch of the Department of Homeland Security’s “Operation Midway Blitz,” a federal crackdown ordered by President Donald Trump targeting illegal aliens protected by Illinois’ sanctuary policies.

According to new DHS data, shootings are down 35% — the lowest in four years — robberies are down 41%, and carjackings are down 48% since the operation began in September.

Homicides have dropped 16%, while transit crime is down 20%, marking what the agency called “a historic win in the fight against violent criminal illegal alien crime.”

Coinbase Leaves Delaware For “Greener Pastures” In Texas As Exodus Continues

12th November 2025

Read it.

For more than half a century, Delaware stood as America’s corporate capital, renowned for its business-friendly laws, respected Chancery Court, and consistent legal rulings. But in recent years, leftist activist lawmakers and politicized judges have undermined that very foundation, sparking an exodus of major companies seeking stability and fairness to more welcoming states like Texas and Nevada.

On Wednesday morning, Coinbase joined the growing exodus, announcing on its website and in a Wall Street Journal op-ed by Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal that it is moving its state of incorporation from Delaware to Texas.

“For decades, Delaware was known for predictable court outcomes, respect for the judgment of corporate boards, and speedy resolutions,” Grewal wrote in the op-ed.

However, he pointed out that recent inconsistent Chancery Court rulings and reliance on ad hoc legislative fixes do not create a sustainable business environment.”

Judge Strikes Down GOP Map, Boosts Democrats in Utah

11th November 2025

Read it.

A Utah judge on Monday rejected a new congressional map drawn by Republican lawmakers, adopting an alternate proposal creating a Democrat-leaning district ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Republicans hold all four of Utah’s U.S. House seats and had advanced a map poised to protect them.

Judge Dianna Gibson ruled just before a midnight deadline that the Legislature’s new map “unduly favors Republicans and disfavors Democrats.”

Mamdani’s Far-Left Playbook Will Be Replicated Across the Country

10th November 2025

The Foundry.

Is America about to be hit with a Mamdani-style socialist tidal wave?

That’s what more than a few Americans are thinking as the dust settles on the unnerving election of socialist Democrat Zohran Mamdani in New York City.

Make no mistake, his faction of the Democratic Party absolutely has momentum after the win. So right now, much of the national political discourse is focused on the “meaning of Mamdani.”

I grew up in California, the Bay Area, and got used to “fringy” leftists in local government. But to see an American city as massive and iconic as New York fall under the sway of a man fond of quoting Karl Marx is certainly a significant event. How did this happen? Will his playbook truly be replicated elsewhere? Is this style of politics truly the future of the Democratic Party?

To answer those questions we have to first diagnose how Mamdani pulled off this victory.

The Sierra Club Embraced Social Justice. Then It Tore Itself Apart.

8th November 2025

The New York Times, paper of record of the Crust.

The Sierra Club calls itself the “largest and most influential grass roots environmental organization in the country.” But it is in the middle of an implosion — left weakened, distracted and divided just as environmental protections are under assault by the Trump administration.

The group has lost 60 percent of the four million members and supporters it counted in 2019. It has held three rounds of employee layoffs since 2022, trying to climb out of a $40 million projected budget deficit.

Its political giving has also dropped. Federal campaign-finance records show $3.6 million in donations from the Sierra Club during the push to defeat Donald J. Trump in 2020, but none as Mr. Trump stormed back to the presidency in 2024.

And this year, as the Trump administration returned better organized and better prepared than in its first term, the Sierra Club was the opposite. While Mr. Trump boosted coal power, canceled wind farms and rolled back pollution limits, the club was consumed by internal chaos, culminating when the board fired its executive director, Ben Jealous, a former president of the N.A.A.C.P.

This goes beyond shooting yourself in the foot, this is shooting yourself in the groin. Such is a perennial problem with the Wokerati—it isn’t enough to be in favor of just one or a few of the Woke agenda, you have to be equally in favor of every piece of the Woke agenda or you get caught by the circular firing squad.

Maths Body Faces Lawsuit Threat Over Trans-Inclusion Policy

7th November 2025

Read it.

A senior academic has threatened legal action against the London Mathematical Society (LMS) over its new transgender-inclusion policy, accusing the organisation of discriminating against members with gender-critical views.

John Armstrong, a lecturer in financial mathematics at King’s College London, has issued a pre-action letter through lawyers claiming the policy breaches the Equality Act and restricts free speech. The guidance warns that repeatedly using incorrect titles, pronouns or names for transgender people could lead to suspension, and affirms support for individuals using facilities aligned with their “affirmed identity”.

Armstrong argues this conflicts with an April Supreme Court ruling defining sex in law, and says requiring members to use pronouns such as “they/them” or “xie/xer” is discriminatory. He further alleges the rules effectively ban humour relating to transgender issues.

LMS trustees have rejected his claims, saying pronoun use does not limit expression and that offensive conduct should not be tolerated.

Sen. Cotton Seeks DOJ Probe Into Code Pink’s CCP Ties

7th November 2025

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., is calling on the Department of Justice to investigate Code Pink, alleging the left-wing activist group has ties to a terrorist front organization and the Chinese Communist Party, The Washington Free Beacon reported Friday.

The Beacon cited a letter Cotton wrote to Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday, in which he made claims of “potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) and material support to foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs).”

Code Pink — notorious for disrupting Congress with anti-Israel outbursts — has advocated for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a U.S.-designated terrorist group, raising “serious questions about whether it has provided material support,” Cotton wrote.

Illegal Immigrant Wins Mayoral Election in Major City

7th November 2025

Read it.

In case you hadn’t noticed how brazen far-left Democrats have become since President Donald Trump won the 2024 election, allow me to introduce you to a woman who previously admitted that she was living in the U.S. illegally and who just won an election to become the next mayor of St. Paul, Minn. The left isn’t even hiding the fact that illegals are participating in our political/governmental systems anymore.

How bold do you have to be to declare, openly, that you’re in the country illegally and then run for political office while not being a citizen? And the government is allowing this to happen right out in public, without much, if any, pushback.
Democratic State Rep. Kaohly Vang Her took home a big victory on Tuesday night, defeating incumbent Democratic Mayor Melvin Carter after a tabulation of second-choice votes. She, who was born in Laos and entered the country as a refugee, once stated during a public debate that both she and her family were illegal migrants. She later walked the comment back, but obviously, if she previously admitted this, it’s likely true.

Silicon Valley’s Growing Anti-Woke, Pro-Abundance Rebellion

7th November 2025

Read it.

To paraphrase and utterly subvert one of Karl Marx’s best-known quotes, a “spectre” is haunting Silicon Valley—the spectre of authentic abundance. All the powers of woke California have entered into an unholy alliance to exorcise this spectre: public sector unions, the environmentalist lobby, the crony capitalists, Antifa radicals, and Reddit trolls.

They’re going to lose. For all the power the state’s ruling unholy alliance still wields with its “No Kings” populism, its partisan Prop. 50 redistricting, and its absolute grip on state and local governance, it is now in conflict with a far greater historical and cultural momentum. Innate to California and irrepressible, the forces of innovation and creativity that have defined the state for nearly two hundred years are asserting themselves in new domains. Authentic abundance is on the way, and nothing can stop it.

I hope that’s true, but I’m not sanguine. There are plenty of Democrats in Silicon Valley, and You Cain’t Fix Stupid.

Democrat Election Victories Fail to Spark Mass Mobilization Around White House

5th November 2025

Read it.

The longest U.S. government shutdown in history certaintly hurt Republicans, as Democrats scored victories in Tuesday’s elections, including socialist Zohran Mamdani becoming New York City’s next mayor, and Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill winning their respective gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey. However, none of that momentum rolled into the Democratic Party’s color revolution-style operation on Wednesday to surround the White House under the banner “The Trump Fascist Regime Must Go Now.”

Refuse Fascism, a “No Kings” partner funded by dark-money NGOs, planned sentiment-shaping operations aimed at swaying public opinion and undermining the Trump administration ahead of the 2026 midterm cycle. One might have expected, given the momentum from last night’s election results, that this front group of unhinged leftist boomers would have managed to rally more supporters out of the retirement homes – but like the last No Kings protest, it fell entirely flat…

The Left  has this delusion that they live in an Eisenstein movie, that every Republican loss in an election will inevitably lead to the storming of the Winter Palace White House, and the Red Hordes will sweep the land.

Britain “Doomed” Under Labour As Wealthy Scramble To “Get The Hell Out Of London”, Ryanair Boss Warns

5th November 2025

Read it.

The UK is doomed under Labour, the boss of Ryanair has warned as he claimed wealthy people were scrambling to ‘get the hell out of London’ before being hit by a Budget tax raid.

Michael O’Leary said he had no faith in the Chancellor’s ability to restore growth and branded her tax policies ‘dumb’.

The comments came amid reports that Rachel Reeves is planning to target the wealthy with a mansion tax in the Budget later this month.

He told the Guardian: ‘The UK economy under the current leadership is doomed.’

‘The UK badly needs growth, but the way to deliver growth is through selective tax cuts… you are not going to grow the UK economy by taxing wealth or taxing air travel.’

Mr O’Leary’s comments add to a chorus of criticism of Labour from UK business leaders – following warnings about tax from the likes of Marks & Spencer boss Stuart Machin and Asda’s Allan Leighton.

The win was short-lived.

Climate Activists Who Vandalized Stonehenge Acquitted And Set Free

5th November 2025

Read it.

Within a progressive controlled nation, who gets punished by the law is greatly dependent on their political and ethnic affiliations. Left leaning groups (and people like migrants who are useful to left leaning groups) enjoy a separate set of legal standards compared to people who oppose leftist ideology. This has become a clear trend within the UK in recent years.

This two tier legal system helps the encourage future crimes by leftists and their allies while the hammer is brought down on conservatives and patriots to ensure they are fearful of stepping out of line in the slightest.

This double standard is obvious once again in the recent acquittal of three Just Stop Oil activists who made headlines after they spraying down the historic site of Stonehenge with a mixture of powder and orange dye.  The dye cost around $1000 to clean but luckily did not leave lasting damage.  The stunt was allegedly designed to draw attention to JSO’s climate change agenda.

When Green Policies Go Wrong: Cows Die After Climate Feed

3rd November 2025

Read it.

Since October, Danish farmers have been required to feed their cows Bovaer—a methane-reducing additive intended to make agriculture more climate-neutral. However, several farmers have reported that some animals have become ill or died after consuming the supplement, Danish media, including Nyheder TV2, reports.

The new regulation, effective from January 1st, 2025, mandates that all farms with more than 50 conventional dairy cows feed Bovaer for at least 80 days a year. Many farmers began using the additive on October 1st. Reports describe cows suffering from fever, reduced milk output, or sudden death shortly after consumption. One farmer said he lost several cows, each representing a financial loss of about 10,000 Danish kroner (€1,300).

Bovaer, developed by the Dutch company DSM-Firmenich, contains 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP), a compound that inhibits methane-producing enzymes in a cow’s digestive system.

Ugandan Villages Destroyed to Fight Climate Change

3rd November 2025

The Telegraph (UK).

The £33m aid project was designed to help poor Ugandan farmers deal with the impact of climate change.

But the reality saw their crops and homes destroyed in an “inhuman” project that left them “on the brink of starvation”.

Local government officials, who were guarded by armed security forces, razed crops, trees and homes as they claimed to be re-wilding wetland in a project run by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), which has received £2.6bn in UK taxpayers’ money.

It is one of a number of controversial projects uncovered in a seven-month investigation by The Telegraph into how the Government is spending £11.6bn in International Climate Finance (ICF).

On Friday, The Telegraph revealed how the public has paid for a £52m road to nowhere through the jungle in Guyana, rusting solar panels on schools in Zimbabwe and condoms in the Congo all under the guise of climate aid.

Attempted Murder: Mayor’s Son Tried to Firebomb Former AfD Member

2nd November 2025

Read it.

Several arson attacks took place in Leibertingen (Baden-Württemberg) last week. According to the police, a 22-year-old man threw Molotov cocktails at a car and two neighbouring houses. He also attacked police officers and other emergency services with incendiary devices. It has now emerged that the attacks were probably politically motivated. Among the victims of the arson attempt was Michael Koppatz, a former politician and active member of the AfD (Alternative for Germany).

The mother of the alleged perpetrator, Tobias K., is the mayor of a neighbouring town.

The suspect first set fire to Koppatz’s wife’s company car in the parking lot. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire in time before it spread to Koppatz’s house. Shortly afterwards, he allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at the window of Koppatz’s house, but it did not cause any damage. The former MP retired from politics some time ago because he no longer agreed with some of the party’s policies.

While police officers and a firefighter were investigating the scene of the fire, another Molotov cocktail was thrown at them, landing a few meters in front of them and exploding on the street.

Academic Papers Obstruct and Lie To Protect Harmful ‘Gender Medicine’

2nd November 2025

Some of the most prestigious medical journals are refusing to publish corrections to papers that contain demonstrably false claims about ‘gender medicine.’

That’s the main finding of Dr. J. Cohn, author of ‘Censorship of Essential Debate in Gender Medicine Research.’ She noted the ‘low or very low-certainty evidence for the benefits of medical gender interventions’—echoing last year’s Cass Review—including suicide prevention. Despite the facts, academic medical journals continue to publish demonstrably false claims about gender medicine.

Since 2022, when these dubious ‘facts’ appeared online or in print, including in the JAMA, the New England Journal of Medicine, and Pediatrics, Cohn has submitted corrections: a normal part of the peer review process. Typically, journal editors responded with assertions about their confidence in the articles and their parallel doubts about the rigorous scholarship cited by Cohn.

The Democratic Party’s power grip on the Mid-Atlantic, particularly in Maryland, appears to be eroding.

Local headlines and a Justice Department statement confirm that leftist-controlled Baltimore County has been removed from the federal list of sanctuary jurisdictions after signing a cooperation agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The DoJ wrote in a press release that the county’s cooperation represents progress in restoring public safety, despite state-level restrictions on federal immigration enforcement. The county had been listed as a sanctuary jurisdiction since August, a designation leftist County Executive Kathy Klausmeier argued was a mistake.

French Lawmakers Vote Against ‘Zucman Tax’

1st November 2025

Read it.

The ongoing debate over France’s budget continued on Friday, when the National Assembly voted down a proposal for a 2% tax on assets exceeding €100 million, known as the Zucman tax after its economist proponent, Gabriel Zucman. The measure, supported by an alliance of left-wing parties, aimed to target around 1,800 wealthy households and would, Zucman has said, generate €15-20 billion annually. Center- and right-wing lawmakers united in opposition, citing concerns about capital flight, job losses, and economic harm, while the government warned the tax would be unconstitutional. A milder ‘Zucman-light’ variant from the Socialists, proposing a 3% levy on assets over €10 million, with exemptions for family and “innovative” firms, also failed to pass.

The vote escalates political tensions as France races to approve its 2026 budget by year-end, with the deficit projected to hit 6% of GDP amid post-pandemic recovery strains. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu faces mounting pressure, as he lacks a parliamentary majority and is reliant on Socialist support to pass the budget.

If the minority government excludes wealth redistribution measures, left-wing deputies have threatened to topple it. To pacify furious lawmakers on the Left, Lecornu offered concessions like abandoning planned freezes on pensions and welfare benefits, which would otherwise fail to adjust for inflation. Lawmakers did approve a compromise: a 2% tax on non-operational assets held in holding companies, expected to raise up to €1 billion.

Zucman, a 39-year-old Berkeley professor, decried the vote as a “missed opportunity for fiscal justice.” Critics, including budget minister Amélie de Montchalin, argued it would drive wealthy taxpayers abroad and undermine business competitiveness. With Senate review pending, further amendments could reshape the budget, but analysts warn of prolonged gridlock.

Perhaps the rich will leave the city entirely and leave it to the poor. We can have our own Socialist Failed State right there on the Hudson.

Climate Nostradamus Bill Gates Calls Eco-Doomism ‘Wrong’

One of the most notorious billionaire pontificators on the climate change boondoggle just did an about-face and told the eco-extremists screeching Armageddon to take a chill pill.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates shocked the political sphere by completely skewering the leftist narrative that we’re all going to die from climate change in a few years in an October 28 blog post.

Gates first outlined the doomist narrative: “‘In a few decades, cataclysmic climate change will decimate civilization. The evidence is all around us—just look at all the heat waves and storms caused by rising global temperatures. Nothing matters more than limiting the rise in temperature.” Then came the kicker: “Fortunately for all of us, this view is wrong. Although climate change will have serious consequences—particularly for people in the poorest countries—it will not lead to humanity’s demise.”

A bronze statue of Confederate Gen. Albert Pike, toppled and burned by demonstrators in 2020 protests, has been reinstalled in Judiciary Square.

Crews placed the statue Saturday, surrounded by fencing and signs reading “Historic preservation work in progress,” Channel 4 in D.C. reported.

The Department of the Interior said the restoration follows President Donald Trump’s directives on restoring historic monuments, citing compliance with federal preservation law and executive orders promoting the beautification of the nation’s capital.

New Jersey Teachers Union Backing Mikie Sherrill Plans Drag Queen Event Days After Election

New Jersey’s largest teachers union, which has endorsed Democrat governor candidate Mikie Sherrill, will host a drag queen event days after the November election.

The New Jersey Education Association, which has 200,000 members as the Garden State’s chapter of the National Education Association, will host its annual convention on Nov. 6 and 7, two days after the gubernatorial election. At the convention, the NJEA Consortium—a union project undertaken with education and “social justice” organizations—will host a Friday event called “Drag is Not a Crime: The Past, Present, and Future of Drag.”

The convention’s floor plan also includes a booth dedicated to the drag theme. The NJEA convention theme puts “learning” third—after “equity” and “justice.”

California and Chicago Move Toward Taxation Armageddon

27th October 2025

Read it.

Various blue states are facing towering budget deficits as federal pandemic payments end and expenditures rise.

The result is a widening gap between the two parties on tax policies as Democratic leaders seek to avoid massive budget cuts in favor of tax increases. Two of the most economically moronic measures can be found in California and Illinois where leaders could be pushing high-tax residents out of their respective states.

In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom is seeking a billionaire tax that would target roughly 180 individuals who are expected to remain in the state, like some voluntary canned hunt. In Chicago, Mayor Brandon Johnson is facing the same exodus of businesses as California. His solution? A head tax on the very large corporations is needed for the city to survive. Even the far-left governor, J.B. Pritzker, is opposing the move as economically suicidal. However, groups like the teachers’ unions are pushing for this and other new taxes to support, among other things, a bloated pension plan for its members.

Spend spend spend — it’s all Democrats know how to do. And they can’t quit spending, so they have to raise taxes. And “the rich” don’t have enough money to cover the spending (and, besides, they depend on rich leftists for campaign contributions), so they have to tax everybody else to make up the differerence.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned Sunday that he’s about make good on a threat to revoke millions in federal funds for California because he says the state is illegally issuing commercial driver’s licenses to noncitizens.

In an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Duffy said California Gov. Gavin Newsom has refused to comply with Department of Transportation rules that require the state to stop issuing such licenses and review those already issued.

“So, one, I’m about to pull $160 million from California,” Duffy said. “And, as we pull more money, we also have the option of pulling California’s ability to issue commercial driver’s licenses.”

The Green Mirage: The Hidden Costs Behind the Electric Car Hype

25th October 2025

Read it.

In Sweden, a two-kilometer stretch of electrified highway allows electric vehicles to charge while they drive — a prototype for 3,000 kilometers of such roads planned by 2045.

It all sounds sleek, modern, and progressive, like something from a futurist’s dream.

Eddie Grant once sang, “We’re gonna rock down to Electric Avenue.”

But before we charge headlong into this electric future, we should pause to ask: is any of this really helping the environment?

The answer, inconveniently, is no.

Electric vehicles are not the sustainable miracle they’re marketed to be — this article details the hidden environmental toll of battery production, the inefficiency of “green” energy systems, and the deeper agenda behind the global push toward EVs and UN-driven sustainability mandates.

The prevailing narrative of “zero-emission” transportation falls apart with documented evidence, industry data, and science itself.

The green movement’s corporate and political drivers open up broader questions of personal freedom, economic control, and truth in environmental science.

Joy Behar Whines School Girl ‘Snitched’ on Anti-Vietnam Ranting to Students

24th October 2025

Newsbusters.

On Tuesday’s edition of ABC’s Behind the Table podcast (The View’s podcast), Joy Behar recounted to host Brian Teta about her liberal activism during the Vietnam War. Inspired by last weekend’s so-called “No Kings” protests, Behar hyped how she used to rant to her students back when she was a teacher and encouraged them to draft dodge. She also whined about one girl who “snitched” and got her fired.

Behar kicked off the show by decrying how Republicans were dismissing the protests as “a big nothing,” according to her. To counter that, she tried to suggest five to 10 times the number of estimated attendees actually supported the protests.

Is every Democrat a self-righteous asshole, or do we just see the worst of them in the news?

Watch: Oligarch-Battling Bernie Sanders Thinks It’s Perfectly Normal to Own Three Homes

24th October 2025

Read it.

Oligarchy fighter and working class man of the people Bernie Sanders sees nothing out of the ordinary in owning three large properties.

When recently questioned about his three houses, the ‘No Kings’ figurehead passed it off as if most Americans own multiple properties and he’s just like everyone else.

“Do I own three residences? Yes I do,” declared Sanders.

He then explained that he has “a beautiful home in Burlington,” a place in Washington, and “like many thousands of people in the State of Vermont” he has a “Summer camp on Lake Champlain.”

“It’s a nice one,” he enthused.

“That’s it!” Sanders declared.

Two more than I’ve got. Apparently socialism pays really really well.

EU Top Court Argues for More Benefits for Deported Immigrant

23rd October 2025

Read it.

The European Court of Justice’s Advocate General has once again put the rights of deported asylum seekers above the needs of ordinary Europeans. In an opinion issued Thursday, Advocate General Richard de la Tour declared that an asylum seeker who cannot be transferred to another EU country within the set deadline must continue receiving full asylum benefits, including money for clothing, household goods, transport—and even a cell phone.

The case revolves around an Afghan national who first applied for asylum in Romania in 2021 before entering Germany. Under the Dublin Agreement, Romania—as the first country of entry—is responsible for his application. Romania had agreed to take him back but suspended the transfer due to the war in Ukraine. In the meantime, German authorities in the Bavarian district of Schweinfurt reduced the man’s benefits, limiting them to essentials such as food, accommodation, and medical care.

Rather than supporting this reasonable restriction, the Advocate General sided with the Afghan claimant. He argued that the 2013 EU Reception Conditions Directive “prohibits a Member State from denying an applicant benefits to cover his or her needs for clothing and household goods.” He went further, calling Germany’s national legislation “problematic” for allowing the automatic withdrawal of benefits without a detailed assessment of the personal consequences for the applicant.

Cuba’s Growing Private Sector Exposes the Failure of Socialism

23rd October 2025

The Foundry.

After 65 years of socialist control, Cuba’s private sector has become the island’s most unexpected victory for freedom.

For decades, the Castro regime tried to convince the world—and its own people—that socialism was efficient, equal, and sustainable. But today, the model is collapsing under its own weight. Food shortages, blackouts, and mass emigration have exposed the truth: Socialism doesn’t work. What does work—and quietly transforms Cuba from within—is the entrepreneurial spirit of ordinary citizens who have stopped waiting on the state.

Many outside observers still don’t realize Cuba even has a private sector. The regime downplays it, terrified of what it represents: economic independence, self-reliance, and dignity. Yet since 2021, more than 10,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (MIPYMES) have been officially registered, according to the Cuba Study Group. These are not “oligarchs” or “elites.” They are everyday Cubans who have decided to hacer de tripas corazones—to turn scarcity into strength and survival into freedom.

Minneapolis Public Schools Facing Discrimination Complaint

23rd October 2025

Read it.

A civil rights complaint has been filed against Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) after reports that several high schools offered courses restricted by race and sex.

Minnesota outlet Alpha News reported that the complaint concerns courses titled “BLACK Culture – Building Lives Acquiring Cultural Knowledge.” The Washington Free Beacon first noted that South High School’s curriculum guide listed one section of the class as open to “all black male students” and another to “all black female students.”

“The course is open to black male students of any grade,” one course description reads. Roosevelt High School reportedly offers a similar course titled “High School Black Culture Queens.”

As Chief Justice Roberts famously said (in Parents Involved in Community Schools v. Seattle School District No. 1), “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race” .

ICE Agent Wounds Deputy U.S. Marshal and TikTok Streamer, Who Is Charged With Assault

23rd October 2025

L.A. Times, a Voice of the Crust.

The incident unfolded around 9 a.m. in a dense immigrant community where, according to Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, federal agents were carrying out “a targeted enforcement traffic stop” of an undocumented immigrant who “previously escaped from custody” and “attempted to evade arrest yet again.”

The suspect, Carlitos Ricardo Parias, was charged Tuesday night with assault on a federal officer, according to acting U.S. Atty. Bill Essayli. During the stop, the 44-year-old undocumented immigrant from Mexico “rammed his car into agents’ vehicles after they boxed him in and ordered him to submit to arrest,” Essayli said on X.

McLaughlin said ICE agents “fearing for the safety of the public and law enforcement … followed their training and fired defensive shots.”

Witnesses said the suspect was struck, and another bullet appeared to ricochet and wound a deputy marshal.

cLaughlin later confirmed that a law enforcement officer at the scene was hit in the hand by a ricochet and that the target of the operation was wounded.

Immigration Agents on NYC’s Canal Street Confronted by Protesters

22nd October 2025

Read it.

An immigration enforcement sweep targeting vendors on New York City’s famed Canal Street turned chaotic Tuesday afternoon, as bystanders and protesters confronted federal agents and tried to block their path.

Thus ‘obstructing justice’, which is a crime in every jurisdiction of which I am aware.

The confrontation between the agents and hundreds of angry New Yorkers took place along a busy commercial thoroughfare that has long been a hub of the city’s not-so-underground market for knock-off designer handbags, watches, perfumes, and sunglasses, as well as phones and other electronics.

So, it’s a hotbed of criminality.

An Associated Press reporter observed dozens of federal agents as they made one of a number of arrests in the area, detaining a street vendor who appeared to be selling bedazzled smartphone cases.

The reporter, a Tool of the Crust, no doubt attempted to portray the arrested street vendor as somebody just going about his normal life and suddenly being hassled FOR NO LEGITIMATE REASON by agents of ‘Trump’s totalitarian state’. That’s their Narrative, and they’re sticking to it.

Federal Judge Blocks Push to Remove Gender Ideology From Sex Ed Curricula

22nd October 2025

Read it.

A federal judge in Oregon said during a hearing on Monday that she plans to issue an injunction stopping the Trump administration from requiring several Democratic-led states to remove references to gender ideology from their sexual health education curricula as a condition of receiving federal grant funding.

U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken, based in Eugene, made the comments in reference to a lawsuit filed by 16 states, including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and Wisconsin, as well as the District of Columbia. The states of Oregon, Washington, and Minnesota are leading the group.

You will have noticed, as I have, that the vast majority of these anti-Trump judges are female.  Feel free to speculate.

The Spanish Summer Camp Trying to ‘Queer’ Kids

A children’s summer camp in Spain has sparked a string of alarming safeguarding allegations. What should have been a fortnight of normal camp activities was, according to several attendees, more like a carnival of horrors. The camp, organised by non-profit youth group Sarrea Euskal Udalekua Elkartea, was held from August 8th to 23rd in the village of Bernedo, and was hosted by a controversial trans activist who had previously boasted about wanting to “indoctrinate” children.
