Recode co-founder and New York Times contributor Kara Swisher wrote an opinion piece for The Times that was no less than a tantrum aimed at Facebook’s refusal to be as censorious as other Big Tech companies in the lead up to this November’s election.
Swisher’s ultimatum to Facebook, “Clean Up Your Act, Facebook, or We’re Leaving,” is an example of the progressive left’s attempts at bullying platforms into censoring content that they disapprove of. The June 30 opinion piece gleefully noted that the Stop the Hate Facebook ad boycott campaign “organized by the N.A.A.C.P., the ADL, Color of Change and others” are “seeking to force [Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg] to change” by “focusing on your wallet, knocking billions off your net worth in recent days.”

he Washington Post tried to push back on President Donald Trump’s claim that the most dangerous cities in America are run by Democrats – but the graph provided largely proved Trump’s point.
Trump said Wednesday that “every one” of America’s “20 most dangerous” cities “are Democrat run.” WaPo’s analysis headline wrote that “Trump keeps claiming that the most dangerous cities in America are all run by Democrats. They aren’t.”
The article, however, did not provide a single city run by a Republican in the top 20 most violent cities per capita. According to data WaPo gathered to disprove Trump, 19 of the 20 cities with the most violent crime per 10,000 residents are run by Democrats. The lone city on the per capita list not run by a Democrat is run by an Independent.
“Most of the current mayors of these cities are Democrats,” WaPo admitted. “Two of the mayors of cities with the most reported violent crimes overall, though, are independents and one, the mayor of Jacksonville, Fla., is a Republican. Among the 20 cities with the most violent crime per capita, one isn’t a Democrat: the independent mayor of Springfield, Mo.”

Almost five short months ago, ‘journalist’ Ryan Broderick was the envy of his fake news peers. The BuzzFeed ‘senior reporter’ had just written a hit-piece against Zero Hedge slamming us over the ‘conspiracy theory’ that COVID-19 may have emerged from a lab in Wuhan, China, and claiming that we doxed one of their scientists. Hours later, we were summarily kicked off of Twitter – a ban which has since been reversed after the social media giant admitted they were in error. Meanwhile, the lab origin ‘conspiracy theory’ has gained widespread support and is now the focus of several international investigations into the CCP lab.

On Wednesday’s Full Frontal, host Samantha Bee delivered a monologue focusing on the epidemic of “harassment and prejudice at home, school, and work” faced by transgender people. Throughout the segment, Bee trashed J.K. Rowling for daring to express a divergent view on the debate about transgenderism and accused the Trump administration of declaring “full-on war” on transgender people while Bee herself declared “full-on war” against biology.

Ever since the 2016 election outcome, Krugman has made it a point to fire off wild predictions about what would happen under a Trump presidency. When markets began to plunge after Trump’s march towards an astounding victory, Krugman initially stated before recanting later that “[i]t really does now look like President Donald J. Trump, and markets are plunging. When might we expect them to recover?” Krugman further suggested that “If the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is never.”
With this sort of leftist insanity in Krugman’s writing, it should come as no surprise for viewers to find gaffes, incendiary comments, faulty economic rationales, and bouts of cringe humor on Krugman’s Twitter account.

The cesspool that is the United Nations Human Rights Council has decided that its top official, a Chilean socialist called Michelle Bachelet, shall “prepare a report on systemic racism, violations of international human rights law against Africans and people of African descent by law enforcement agencies, especially those incidents that resulted in the death of George Floyd and other Africans and of people of African descent.” The “systemic racism” and human rights violations are assumed. Apparently, Bachelet’s task is to write these conclusions up.

In our experience, the “objective” media tilt dramatically in favor or abortion advocates. But amazingly, it’s not biased enough for them. NARAL Pro-Choice America released a “media analysis,” a “deep dive” this week on the way journalists cover abortion. They hired the Global Strategy Group, a Democratic polling and PR firm, to do the study.
How flawed is it? Start with how they read the media: “A random sample of more than 300 abortion-related articles were elected for study across ten major news outlets…from January through June of 2019.” It would be much more accurate to pick just one media outlet and read every article. But listen to some of their actual complaints/findings, which are really complaining that the pro-life side gets too much attention:

As demonstrations continue to occupy part of the Capitol Hill district of downtown Seattle, MSNBC’s Vaughn Hillyard and Stephanie Ruhle defended the occupiers from accusations of anarchy and mayhem on Monday by citing their “very peaceful” nature and their dedication to community.
Hillyard hyped the, “very peaceful week here on these streets” and credited that peace to the city’s decision to abandon the East Precinct. Despite the fact the group calling itself the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest once called itself the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, Hillyard insisted, “this is not some hostile takeover.”
The former Soviet Union was very peaceful, as is today’s North Korea.

This piece in the New York Times is worth reading for sheer entertainment value. By Ben Smith, formerly of Buzzfeed, it is headlined “Newsrooms Are in Revolt. The Bosses Are in Their Country Houses.” With this sub-head: “Those who can afford it left the city, shining a spotlight on class divisions in the media.”
The “class division” is between those who can afford to decamp for the luxury of the Hamptons or the Hudson Valley, and those who have to stay in the city and be exposed to COVID-19. And also, I suppose, work. This is how the upper-media-class lives….

This country is now dead and we must make a new one.
Meanwhile, Thotiana Lowe, a left-leaning writer at the supposedly formerly right-leaning Washington Examiner (owned by the same liberal corporatist who used to fund the Weekly Standard), writes that Columbus was racist and evil so, you know, might as well pull down his statues, too.
The problem faced by Popular Mechanics (and Popular Science and Scientific American and even the venerable National Geographic) is that their business model crashed and burned once the Internet got good. Nobody wants to pay for publications when information just as good is available for free. So they depend on advertising, which means they depend on ‘clicks’, which means they write everything in the standard click-bait formula that you see everywhere today. Which means they get ‘woke’ because the only people who are willing to work for such an organization are progressivism-steeped arrested adolescents who see nothing wrong with importing their totalitarian political agenda into every nook and cranny of life.

Bill Maher closed Friday’s edition of Real Time with a hyperbolic rant directed at Republicans on Capitol Hill. In addition to slamming the congressional GOP for always sticking by President Trump no matter what, Maher compared Republican Senator Lindsey Graham to a “slave abused by fat daddy” and warned that “democracy is about to stop breathing.”
I get the impression that Bill Maher is one of those fashionable people who at one time was considered ‘edgy and entertaining’ but has coasted to a crawl where he is just on the fringe. People watch him out of inertia and he gets paid out of inertia, in the same way that certain ‘classic’ black and white films get replayed on late night TV because they are ‘classics’ rather than because they are really worth watching.

During MSNBC’s Tuesday coverage of George Floyd’s funeral in Houston, Joy Reid took the opportunity to revise history and push the idea that all the racists became Republicans after the historic 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Reid explained, “It was Lyndon Johnson completing the work that Kennedy began. That act would have been a 1963 act had it been able to go through. But the resistance of white segregationists, at the time white Democrats in the south, people who ultimately moved into the Republican Party in outrage over the betrayal by Lyndon Johnson, who betrayed his region and his race by pushing through the martyred Kennedy’s bill after the martyrdom of so many black men and women.”
Joy Reid doesn’t know much of anything, actually.
