Last December, Michael Shellenberger reported in a #TwitterFiles thread that the Aspen Institute hosted a “Hack-and-Dump Working Group” exercise in the summer of 2020 titled, “Burisma Leak,” which predicted with uncanny accuracy an upcoming derogatory story in the New York Post about Hunter Biden’s lost laptop.
The documents Shellenberger published showed how at least five media figures, including David Sanger and David McCraw of the New York Times, Ellen Nakashima of the Washington Post, then-Daily Beast and future Rolling Stone editor Noah Schactman, and Rick Baker of CNN worked alongside Twitter and Facebook’s chief moderation officers, Yoel Roth and Nathaniel Gleicher, to plan a response to a hypothetical damaging exposé about Joe Biden’s son.
The “Burisma Leak” exercise predicted many elements of the real response to the New York Post’s coming Hunter Biden story, including complaints from influential Democratic congressman Adam Schiff about its “source and veracity,” and public statements from “former senior intelligence officials” falsely raising the specter of a “Russian operation.”

There are few things liberals love more than raising taxes. They are particularly fond of regressive taxes that fall primarily on the poor. Tax hikes on alcohol and other “sin” products are designed to control people’s behavior and force them to behave more like elite liberals who shop at Whole Foods and inject themselves with diabetes medicine to lose weight. Cigarettes, soda, gasoline, and so on.

In an incident sadly familiar to many New Yorkers, a man living on the streets with a long history of mental illness started screaming, acting erratically, and threatening the people sharing his subway car earlier this week. “I don’t mind going to jail and getting life in prison,” screamed the 30-year-old Jordan Neely, who had 44 arrests under his belt and an outstanding warrant for felony assault, as he flailed around throwing items of his clothing. “I’m ready to die!”
In response, a 24-year-old Marine Corps veteran put Neely in a chokehold, incapacitating him and releasing him after he stopped struggling and passed out. A freelance reporter who took video of the incident, Juan Alberto Vazquez, told news outlets that no one on the train initially thought Neely was in any worse shape than being unconscious, but by the time the police who met the train at the station took him to a nearby hospital, Neely was pronounced dead.
Police questioned the young man, whose name they did not make public, but released him without charges pending an investigation. In the next 36 hours, the usual suspects began to gin up the outrage machine. Readers online lambasted The New York Times for not immediately declaring Neely a murder victim and characterized the incident as having racist implications; Neely is black, and the Marine is white. Governor Kathy Hochul declared the case “troubling.” AOC tweeted, “Jordan Neely was murdered” and declared that funding the police is “militarized” and “disgusting.” By the end of the week, it’s likely Jordan Neely will be on the front of every paper, forcing the country to consider whether erratic and threatening behavior from someone clearly out of his mind justifies the application of force in self-defense.

Apparently, every day is a battle for LGBTQ+ lawmakers. According to an Associated Press report, they “find themselves fighting just ‘to exist.’”
Literally! LITERALLY!
Read on and you’ll find these bills include Florida’s March 2022 Parental Rights in Education law which banned discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade classrooms. And, of course, they identify the legislation as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
The lawmakers – and the AP – are especially incensed over bills that “would classify providing gender-affirming care to minors as a form of child abuse.” Isn’t it?

Bob Hoge with our friends at RedState had a hilarious piece Tuesday pulling together the latest saga and kid-in-a-grocery-store meltdown MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan pitched last week after he was roundly condemned and fact-checked for one insane claim after another about crime and, of course, racism.
At the heart of it, Hoge noted that Hasan has objected Twitter’s Community Notes feature, which allows users to fact-check false claims, seeing more play under Elon Musk’s ownership and he was “getting awfully sick of” it. This was particularly ironic since he recently released a book entitled Win Every Argument: The Art of Debating, Persuading, and Public Speaking.

As a contributing columnist for the Post, former CIA deputy director Michael Morell published numerous articles before the election attacking former president Donald Trump and pushing various claims about Russian disinformation. Morell called on Trump’s intelligence chief, John Ratcliffe, to resign in his final Post column on Oct. 12, 2020, a week before he concocted the Hunter letter. In an Oct. 11 piece, Morell said Trump’s financial debt raises national security concerns. In August 2020, Morell made the disputed claim that “the Russians infiltrated Trump’s 2016 campaign.”
Morell was carrying water for the Biden campaign behind the scenes, too. The former intel official admitted in a recent congressional interview that he was behind an Oct. 19, 2020, letter that cast the release of Hunter Biden’s laptop days earlier as a probable Russian disinformation campaign. Morell said he organized the letter, which was signed by 50 other former intelligence officials, after a conversation with Biden adviser Tony Blinken, now the secretary of state. Morell told lawmakers he undertook the initiative to help Biden “win the election.”
The Post has penalized columnists for campaign connections more tenuous than Morell’s. In 2011, conservative columnist George Will came under scrutiny after his wife began advising Rick Perry’s presidential campaign. The Post’s ombudsman found that Will did not use his column to improperly boost his wife’s client, but said the columnist should have disclosed his wife’s work. The ombudsman wrote that “readers need to be able to judge for themselves if any conflict of interest could bias a journalist, even an opinion columnist.”
“A cynic would say none of this is surprising,” Tim Graham, the Media Research Center’s director of media analysis, said of Morell and the Post. He noted that the Post describes Morell’s CIA service in the George W. Bush administration to make Morell look bipartisan. “It’s that ‘career official’ spin that helps them present people like Morell as less partisan.”

An all-time media blackout is in effect. We’re experiencing real-time Sovietization.
It transpires that the infamous incident before the 2020 election in which 50 former intelligence officials signed an open letter declared a New York Post expose about Hunter Biden’s laptop to have the “classic earmarks of a Russian information operation” was instigated at the behest of the Joe Biden campaign. This at least is the allegation in a letter to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken released by Jim Jordan, chair of the House Judiciary Committee, and Subcommittee on the Weaponization of Government.

Most rich people who take part in politics are on the Left, which is a major reason why the Democratic Party and its candidates consistently have so much more money than the Republican Party and its candidates.
I have long been bemused by rich liberals like Warren Buffett, who tell us their tax rates are too low. Really? Guess what: the IRS will cash your check! If you seriously think you aren’t paying enough taxes, or you actually believe the government spends money more wisely and effectively than you do, there is an easy solution. Write the IRS a check, I guarantee they will cash it.
Yet, strangely, I have never heard of a rich liberal doing this, even though most of these people are second or third generation beneficiaries who cannot comprehend how hard their ancestors worked to accumulate the wealth that they enjoy.
On Wednesday, a group of rich people held a press conference in Washington, urging Congress to pass a 90% tax rate on the wealthy. Stephen Moore crashed their party. It turns out that these rich liberals don’t actually want to turn their own money over to the government. The woman who pipes up at the end is, I understand, a Disney.
The point is that these mooks don’t want taxes raised on them; they want them raised on other people, people who don’t make as much money as they do and therefore would be put at a comparative disadvantage financially by higher tax rates. The ‘write a check’ response is all it takes to strip the word-salad disguise off of this attempted robbery.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley called out Newsweek after the outlet reached out for comment about the color of a dress she wore to her daughter’s wedding.
“This is why people don’t trust the media. Liberal ‘journalists’ spend their time harassing conservatives about outfit choices,” Haley tweeted Friday. “Grow up, Newsweek.”
She is reported to have worn a white dress to her daughter’s wedding. This is apparently a Rube Faux Pas among the Crust.
