The Washington Poop, paper of record of the Deep State.
In a dramatic shift from 50 years ago, Republicans in Congress overwhelmingly attended nonelite universities for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. At the same time, almost half of all Democrats graduated from an Ivy League institution or some other elite university for undergraduate or postgraduate work, a slight increase from the early 1970s.
That’s the key finding from a new research paper published by three leading political observers from the University of Arkansas, Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia.
The trio put together a 50-year study of members of Congress and their educational backgrounds. They traced the arc from a time when both parties were dominated by figures who attended universities like Harvard, Yale, Georgetown or Stanford to today, when many Democrats still have elite credentials while very few GOP lawmakers attended such institutions.
That’s because ‘such institutions’ have turned into finishing schools for Democrat activists. This is a feature, not a bug. It used to be one could get a good education at ‘such institutions’ no matter your political views, but those days are long gone. Nowadays you can get straight As as a Grievance Studies Major, learning nothing useful, as long as you parrot the Narrative.
This is not news.

It’s probably safe to say that unless they were a serious Washington insider, most Americans had never heard the names of Center for Disease Control Director Susan Monarez and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.
Until, that is, now.
Both Ms. Monarez and Ms. Cook are now in the media’s headlines because both have been fired by President Donald Trump. On the surface, the two have nothing in common. The CDC and the Federal Reserve are two considerably different institutions, with one, as its name indicates, focused on disease control and the physical health of Americans, while the other is all about the economy and American finances.
But in fact – not that you would know this from the liberal media – the CDC and the Federal Reserve do in fact have something very much in common. Both institutions are filled with federal government employees whose first loyalty is to left-leaning politics, the federal government and its bureaucracy – not to the elected President of the United States of the moment. Most particularly does this apply to President Trump, he the decidedly “Outsider” president who was merely elected by the American people. Not to mention – oh the horror! – Trump is a Republican and, worse, someone who never spent a professional day in Washington until elected President.

Keith Olbermann clearly needs some help. On his Thursday Countdown podcast, the former MSNBC and ESPN host unleashed deranged attacks on President Donald Trump and former President George W. Bush, accusing the former of being behind the Minneapolis Catholic school shooting and the latter of staging terrorist threats to get himself re-elected. The common thread, for Olbermann, is that Democrats need to come out and simply speak this “truth” in order to win.
I didn’t realize that Olbermann still had a platform anywhere.

Juan Carlos Dela Torre had already experienced one run-in with one of the roving crews of federal law enforcement agents who descended on Washington, D.C., this month. Then on Friday night came another.
He was standing on the sidewalk smoking a joint, which the officers grabbed as evidence of “consuming marijuana in a public space,” a misdemeanor in the district. The officers took him to a local police station, searched him and, they said, found a small amount of the stimulant MDMA. He was sent to jail.
“I’ve never seen this much police presence in my whole life,” said Mr. Dela Torre, 37, a massage therapist who has lived in Washington since 1994. “You guys are worried about some guy smoking a joint on the corner on a Friday night?”

Graham set the scene of the tension-charged women’s swimming championship meet in 2022, where biological male Thomas and a then-unknown University of Kentucky swimmer named Riley Gaines tied for fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle, though the male swimmer was the one who posed with the fifth place trophy:

President Donald Trump’s surprise Anchorage summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin could have been a signature achievement for Steve Witkoff, the developer-turned-diplomat who facilitated the meet up.
But promised follow-up meetings between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have not materialized, ceasefire demands were dropped, threats of tough action have disappeared and Trump’s team has offered no clear road ahead.
Some frustrated U.S., Ukrainian and European officials say part of the problem is the go-it-alone style of Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy for peace missions and go-to negotiator on Ukraine. He has refused to consult with experts and allies, leaving him uninformed at times and unprepared at others, according to seven people familiar with internal discussions. Two said he misses the mark by viewing the conflict through a real estate lens, like a land dispute.
What puzzles Politico is also what is ‘frustrating’ these apparatchik officials: They are used to people in government doing things The Way They’ve Always Been Done, and neither Trump nor Witkoff are meeting expectations.
This is a feature, not a bug. Doing things The Same Old Way is what got us into this situation in the first place. Trump (and Witkoff, who appears to be on the exact same page as Trump) is an entrepreneur; entrepreneurs don’t go for small incremental advances, but look for some way to achieve the Big Win. The way you do that is to try something, and, if that doesn’t work, try something else. If you do that often enough, you’ll finally hit the jackpot. Politicians and creatures of the Deep State aren’t looking for the Big Win; they’re looking to avoid the Big Loss (or, indeed, any loss at all that will impair their Peer Group Rating among the other apparatchiks).

In what appears to be a perverse “don’t say transgender challenge”, the legacy newscasts went out of their way to mention that the coward who entered into the Annunciation Catholic Church and opened fire on an ongoing Mass was in fact a transgender individual. The networks were equally circumspect about divulging the shooter’s motives.
“The name of President Trump on the guns” is not even in the same tonal universe of what the shooter ACTUALLY wrote, which was “Kill Trump.” This deceptive description, paired with descriptions of the shooter as a racist antisemite, seeks to create the illusion of the shooter being a Trump supporter, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

With a long career in both the news media and the highest echelons of the New York Police Department (NYPD), John Miller has been one of the top media experts in everything from terror attacks to mass shootings like Wednesday’s massacre at Minneapolis’s Annunciation Catholic School.
It’s with that foundation that Miller beclowned himself all afternoon by watering down and dismissing the transgender shooter’s hatred of Christians, Jews, and President Trump (in addition to having attended the school and the shooter’s mother having recently retired from the school).
From one of his first hits to analysis just after 6:00 p.m. Eastern, Miller offered one mealymouthed excuse after another, declaring there “won’t” ever “be a specific motive” since the best explanation for the attack was that “he was in pain” and “hated everybody.”

With the alleged shooter in Tuesday’s the massacre at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis having been transgender and filled with anti-Christian and anti-Semitic views plus calls for President Trump to be assassinated, the liberal media have stuck to their usual patterns with ABC calling for mass gun control and CNN ironically also smearing Christians for praying.
During the second ABC News Special Report about the massacre, chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce grew emotional on the verge of tears as she attacked President Trump and anyone who’s stood in the way of “meaningfully address[ing]” “gun reform,” seemingly ignoring the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act they celebrated at the time.
Bruce — who was the Biden administration’s chief apple polisher — dropped any pretense of facts when she seemed on the verge of sobbing when she smeared Trump for focusing on crime in Washington D.C. but not demanding “gun reform” (i.e. European-style gun control).

According to the Joint Committee on Taxation, the richest of rich Americans pay an average tax rate of 34 percent, higher than any other cohort’s. In reality, as everyone has long known, they pay less than that. A new study by some of the country’s most preeminent economists has finally put concrete numbers to the disparity. The average rate that the richest Americans pay, they find, sits at just 24 percent. That number has fallen markedly in recent years and will remain low for the foreseeable future, thanks to Donald Trump.
Think about that. A quarter of someone’s income is taken from them BY FORCE so that government bureaucrats can waste it. Yet the author of this article doesn’t even blink at it; he’s more focused on being one of the crabs in the bucket bringing potential escapees back into the muck.
The new study is a technical feat, combining data on corporate earnings, private wealth, and individual tax payments. And it confirms that the country’s tax code is regressive, not progressive, at the very top. Every year, America’s richest citizens paper over their earnings with losses and use other creative accounting strategies to shelter their fortunes, as the tax code allows them to do. As a result, the country’s billionaires pay lower tax rates than many of its millionaires do. Indeed, they pay lower tax rates than many middle-class professionals.
Why this comes as a surprise comes as a surprise. The reason billionaires pay lower tax rates than many middle-class professionals is clear to anybody who looks at the tax tables: Middle-class professionals pay tax on wage income, which is rapidly regressive and tops out at 37%, while billionaires pay tax (when they pay tax) on capital gains and dividends, which top out at 20%. This doesn’t take any ‘creative accounting’ at all, just enough brains to perform some elementary optimization. This is the reason Warren Buffet pays tax at a lower rate then his secretary, which all of the hand-wringers and finger-pointers are either too stupid to find out or too evil to bother to mention.
The study, by the UC Berkeley economists Akcan Balkir, Emmanuel Saez, Danny Yagan, and Gabriel Zucman, examines the wealth of Americans on the Forbes 400—not the 1 percent or even 0.01 percent, but the 0.0002 percent, a group including Larry Ellison, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Trump himself. As of this year, these individuals have a minimum net worth of $3.3 billion.
And are therefore the verbal whipping-boys of mere small-change millionaires like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Whenever a Democrat says “TAX THE RICH!” they mean “TAX THOSE RICHER THAN ME!”.

One reason that many Republican voters took a shine to Donald Trump in 2016 was the way he showed no respect to the national chattering classes of the Democrat-media complex. George W. We’ve reached the 20th anniversary of deadly Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf of Mexico, which killed an estimated 1,836 Americans. But misinformation landed first. NBC and MSNBC tremendously hyped Democrat Mayor Ray Nagin’s Today show estimate of 10,000 dead in New Orleans.
Appearing on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, NBC anchor Brian Williams offered a sermon: “These were Americans, and everyone watching the coverage all week, that kind of reached its peak last weekend, kept saying the same refrain: How is this happening in the United States? And the other refrain was, ‘Had this been Nantucket, had this been Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, how many choppers would have–’” Then Williams was drowned out by applause.
Williams the serial exaggerator also claimed he could see bodies floating outside his hotel room in the French Quarter, but the New Orleans Advocate reported that the area had been largely spared in the catastrophe and experienced little flooding.

Slammed by pricier policies and climate-driven natural disasters, more and more Americans are exposing themselves to risk.
And the Narrative creeos in on little cat feet…. No, they aren’t ‘climate driven natural disasters’. They are Democrat elected officials driven natural disasters, for which California is the poster child. Government incompetence makes natural disasters worse when it doesn’t actually cause them. That drives insurance rates up, and then government tries to muscle them down again so that they will be ‘affordable’, but those government-imposed rates aren’t ‘affordable’ for insurance companies, so the companies quit writing insurance. So people wind up without insurance whether they like it or not.
Even if the government doesn’t drive insurers out of the market, non-rich-people can’t afford the new rates. So going without insurance is the only option. Or move… (Time to leave.)

John Bolton was Trump’s National Security Advisor from April 2018 to September 2019. It seemed an odd choice, because Bolton is a hawk and Trump is a Jacksonian on foreign policy, which is not the same thing. Bolton had good credentials, having served under both Reagan and Bush, and had been Bush’s hard-nosed UN Ambassador for about a year and a half.
At a certain point Bolton openly turned against Trump – although I’m not sure he was all that supportive even from the start (here’s an article that claims to describe the downward trajectory of their relationship). But by the time he ended his tenure in the administration, Bolton was Trump’s enemy who wrote a book in 2020 excoriating Trump.
That’s not the issue. The issue is whether he leaked classified information. The proceedings against Bolton are framed by the left in this way: “the justice system is being turned on Trump’s political critics.”
Gee whiz, CNN; did you notice the lawfare against Trump and anyone with the temerity to support him? Did you notice the weakness of their cases? Do you remember “no one is above the law”? I suppose you think Trump’s enemies should get immunity from any prosecution, and a medal?
The real question is whether Bolton is guilty of leaking classified materials and whether his actions fit the definition of a crime, without gymnastics by prosecutors to make it somehow fit when it doesn’t.

As a general rule, both liberals and conservatives want their partner to share their values, but right away, Cornish only wanted to focus on one side of the political spectrum’s supposed toxicity. In the podcast clip, she asked Hill, “In what ways have political trends poisoned the dating well?”
Like Cornish, Hill only focused on one side of the relationship, “So, I think that we are in a very tricky political and cultural moment for dating. Just because, you know, men and women are kind of growing further apart in a lot of ways and especially among young people. And you see that young men are moving further to the right. Young women growing more progressive, and I think for a lot of women in particular, it can just sort of feel like, ‘This is not a time where I trust men. I feel respected by men. One time-tested way to examine media bias is to see if the media label any indicted Democrat official as a Democrat. But with President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Washington, D.C., highlighting blue city mismanagement, over ABC, CBS, and NBC’s Friday evening and Saturday morning shows, only CBS passed the test of identifying New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell as a Democrat, and even that comes with the caveats that it was only shown on the West Coast and online streaming airing of Evening News and provided the fewest details of the three networks.
Because the networks’ non-West Coast evening news slots were understandably taken over by special coverage of the Trump-Putin Alaska summit, that left West Coast and streaming audiences for traditional newscasts on Friday night. On CBS Evening News, host Maurice DuBois reported, “The mayor of New Orleans was indicted today on federal fraud, conspiracy, and obstruction charges. Democrat Latoya Cantrell, the city’s first female mayor, is accused of trying to hide a romantic relationship with her bodyguard, who was a city police officer.”
