Once in a blue moon, you run across a statistic or record that is mind-boggling. Some are amazing, like Alex Ovechkin’s 895 goals or Serena Williams’ 23 Grand Slam singles titles. But others are disturbing, like the fact that in Washington, D.C., between 2018 and 2022, only 1.7% of people arrested for carrying a pistol without a license were sentenced to prison.

This dismal record comes from the District of Columbia Sentencing Commission, which analyzed arrest and sentencing trends in the District’s Superior Court for carrying a pistol without a license.

Before unpacking how and why only 97 of the 5,558 adult arrests that contained at least one charge for carrying a firearm without a license ended up in prison, let’s step back and look at the bigger picture in the nation’s capital—the astronomical homicide rate—and connect the dots between that rate and guns.

According to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, firearms are used in approximately 77% of all homicides in Washington, D.C. Knives come in a distant second place at 14%.

Wisconsin Circuit Judge Monica Isham is threatening to refuse to hold court because of the arrest of Milwaukee Judge Hannah Dugan.

“Guidance requested or I Refuse to Hold Court,” an email she sent after Dugan’s arrest to all Wisconsin state judges says. WRN exclusively obtained the email from a recipient on April 26.

“I have no intention of allowing anyone to be taken out of my courtroom by ICE and sent to a concentration camp, especially without due process, as BOTH of the constitutions we swore to support requires. Should I start raising bail money?” Isham wrote.

She hasn’t threatened to hold her breath yet, but that may be on the agenda.

“This is not normal.” Those words from Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., are undeniably true after the arrest of Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan. However, the reason it is not normal is far more debatable. Dugan is accused of becoming a lawbreaker in seeking to obstruct an effort to arrest a man wanted by federal authorities. If true, that is manifestly not “normal.”

As soon as the news of the arrest was reported, Democrats declared another constitutional crisis. Klobuchar added that the arrest “is a drastic move threatening the rule of law” and a “grave step and undermines our system of checks and balances.”

That is a curious claim unless Klobuchar believes that the officers are lying. If not, Klobuchar is suggesting that a judge should be allowed (or at least not held accountable) for actively shielding a wanted person and facilitating their evasion of law enforcement.

What is Not Normal is not arresting a judge; what is Not Normal is a judge thinking it okay to break the law.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson came under fire from local Jewish leaders after he wore a keffiyeh, or a traditional Palestinian headscarf, to a public event this week.

The Chicago chapter of the Council on American–Islamic Relations posted a picture of Johnson with its executive director, Ahmed Rehab, at an event to mark Arab Heritage Month. In it, Johnson, who was elected in 2023, is wearing a black-and-white keffiyeh.

“Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (appropriately) commemorated Arab Heritage Month this week. Arab Heritage should be honored and celebrated,” Rabbi Ari Hart of Skokie Valley Agudath Jacob Synagogue wrote on Facebook. “But would it not be possible [to] commemorate Arab Heritage without wearing the symbol that millions of Jews around the world saw worn to celebrate the murder, rape and kidnapping of October 7th?”

A Judeo-Christian law firm will finally get its day in court after Michigan’s Democrat attorney general targeted it when launching a “Hate Crimes Unit” in 2019.

Attorney General Dana Nessel and then-Michigan Department of Civil Rights Executive Director Agustin Arbulu announced the Hate Crimes Unit in 2019, which would “fight against hate crimes and the many hate groups … in our state.” The announcement referenced the work of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which brands mainstream conservative and Christian groups “hate groups,” putting them on a map with chapters of the Ku Klux Klan.

The law firm American Freedom Law Center, which the SPLC brands an “anti-Muslim hate group” for its claims that traditional Islam supports jihad, filed a lawsuit challenging what the law firm called the state’s “Orwellian” violation of its First Amendment rights, and after initial proceedings, the case has been delayed since 2021.

Immigration authorities raided a former New Mexico judge’s home, where they accused him of harboring an alleged Tren de Aragua gang member, and took him into custody.

Former Dona Ana County Magistrate Judge Joel Cano, 67, and his wife, Nancy Cano, 68, were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcementx Thursday after a tipster claimed that undocumented migrants associated with the Venezuelan gang were staying at their home. The couple has been charged with tampering with evidence, jail records show.

The investigation began in January 2025 after ICE received an anonymous tip that “an illegal alien from Venezuela and a suspected member of a criminal gang, was residing with other illegal aliens in the United States” at the judge’s home in Las Cruces and was in possession of firearms, according to court filings.

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was charged April 25 with two felonies for her role in helping an undocumented immigrant avoid arrest after he appeared in her courtroom.

According to a 13-page complaint, Dugan, 65, is accused of obstruction a U.S. agency and concealing an individual to prevent an arrest.

Specifically, the complaint says Dugan assisted Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a Mexican immigrant, avoid being arrested by federal immigration officials at the Milwaukee County Courthouse after he appeared in her courtroom for a pre-trial conference on April 18. Flores-Ruiz is facing three misdemeanor battery counts.

Two federal agents eventually chased Flores-Ruiz down outside the courthouse and apprehended him at the intersection of West State Street and 10th Street downtown, according to the complaint.

Since 2021, the Left has waged a veritable war against the American legal system in a variety of ways.

One serial target of Democrats and the Left has been the Supreme Court.

In 2020, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., spoke to an angry throng of pro-abortion protesters assembled at the very doors of the court chambers.

He threatened two of the justices, Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, by name. Schumer yelled to the volatile crowd that the justices’ views would make them “reap the whirlwind,” and the two would not know what “hit” them.

In the ensuing months, protesters mobbed some of the conservative justices’ homes—likely committing felonies. The sympathetic Biden Justice Department chose not to follow the law, and so did nothing—although eventually a would-be assassin turned up.

Former President Joe Biden himself bragged that he would try to ignore the Supreme Court ruling banning his arbitrary cancellation of billions of dollars in student loans. Indeed, he boasted, “The Supreme Court blocked it, but that didn’t stop me.”

In response, no one on the Left ever complained about endangering the “rule of law” or Biden as “a dictator.”

Federal regulations imposed by the Biden administration reached costs of $2.16 trillion in 2024, generating a “hidden regulatory tax” of more than $16,000 on U.S. households, according to a study released Thursday by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI).

CEI’s study, titled “Ten Thousand Commandments,” said the $16,016 in regulatory costs consumes 16% of income and 21% of household expenses.

The report found that then-President Joe Biden reversed “even modest liberalizations” of regulation from President Donald Trump’s first administration. Biden “changed the Office of Management and Budget’s mission away from oversight and toward the promotion of the administration’s regulatory initiatives,” the report said.

The perfect Democrat tax: It harms ordinary people without any benefit to the government.

A surprising number of federal bureaucrats who work in Washington, D.C., plan to oppose President Donald Trump from within the government—a deep state taking shape in his second term.

D.C.-based bureaucrats are split along partisan lines, with Republicans planning to support the president and Democrats planning to oppose him, according to an RMG Research survey commissioned by the Napolitan Institute to coincide with Trump’s first 100 days in office. A whopping 75% of bureaucrats who voted for Vice President Kamala Harris in November say they would disobey a lawful Trump order if they consider it bad policy.

In a refreshing change from Trump’s first term, Republicans in the government largely plan to support the president, the survey finds. This means the Trump 47 deep state phenomenon falls along partisan lines, as opposed to the Trump 45 deep state, in which many Republicans joined Democrats.

While this partisan divide reflects the polarization in the electorate, it still seems remarkable that people who work for the government plan to undermine the president from within his own administration.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) humiliated herself on Sunday when asked if she regretted her repeated praise of former President Joe Biden’s mental fitness, which continued until the moment he dropped out of the race. “I said what I believed to be true,” Warren said during an interview with liberal podcaster Sam Fragoso. “Look, he was sharp, he was on his feet. I saw him [at a] live event, I had meetings with him a couple of times … the question is, what are we gonna do now?”

Warren, who is best known for pretending to be Native American, was almost certainly lying.

From the moment Biden shuffled on stage at the CNN debate and bragged about beating Medicare in June 2024, there has been a steady stream of revelations about all the Democrats who were (privately) concerned or even shocked by the extent of Biden’s cognitive decline since taking office in 2021. They didn’t say anything at the time, obviously, because they didn’t want to anger the president—a notoriously vindictive narcissist—and they didn’t want to help Donald Trump by validating his attacks on Biden’s fitness for office. Two recently published books—Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, and Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History by Chris Whipple—shed even more light on the Democratic Party’s abject failure to stop Biden from running for reelection, even though many believed he was too old and cognitively impaired to serve another four years.

At some point during the 20th century in America, racism became the biggest sin or at least one of them. This may have occurred during the 1960s, to the best of my recollection. But at any rate it occurred – and the Democrats, who had previously been upholding and institutionalizing racism (especially in the South) managed to pin the “racist” label on the GOP. How that occurred is a long story, but the gist of it can be found here.

Once that was done, by the time Obama campaigned for president he was escalating into what I called “playing the pre-emptive race card” (I describe it in this post, with links there to earlier posts of mine). Obama specialized in accusations of racism against the GOP opposition before any had occurred, and also of redefining all criticism of himself or his policies as racist. That seemed a real turning point to me.

Once it became racist to criticize him in any way, the idea spread that criticizing any black Democrat was racist. Strangely, that “racist” accusation didn’t apply when Democrats criticized black people on the right, because by definition those conservative Republicans were allying themselves with racists and were therefore race traitors and fair game.

Once all of that was established, when the Tea Party movement – which had zero to do with racism – came into being, it was also labeled racist.

A Minnesota prosecutor is allowing state employee Dylan Adams to skirt criminal charges for vandalizing Tesla cars and causing more than $20,000 in damages, even after surveillance footage caught Adams vandalizing the vehicles.

While police described the video as clear evidence that Adams committed felony-level vandalism, Hennepin county attorney Mary Moriarty (D.) declined to charge the 33-year-old, a program consultant at Democratic governor Tim Walz’s Department of Human Services. Surveillance footage shows Adams keying six parked Teslas and stripping their paint—just weeks after Walz mocked the electric car company, saying that watching Tesla stock fall gave him “a little boost during the day.”

Adams is not a political appointee, a Walz administration spokesperson said.

Arizona Democratic Party chairman Robert Branscomb II accused his party’s U.S. senators of trying to intimidate and coerce him, prompting sharp rebukes from state and federal officials and pointing to a deep rupture in the state party.

Branscomb alleged in a Saturday morning email to party members that Arizona senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego, both Democrats, “threatened” and “intimidated” him after he appointed an executive director who is not their preferred choice. According to Branscomb, one of the senators vowed to “no longer support or participate in state party fundraising,” while the other told Branscomb to reverse the decision or “face consequences.”

Within hours, Arizona’s Democratic officials—in a statement sent by party vice chair Aaron Marquez—fired back. The senators—along with Governor Katie Hobbs, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, and Attorney General Kris Mayes—said that “the Chair has lost our trust” and slammed Branscomb’s accusation as “the kind of bad-faith response we’ve come to expect from leadership,” according to Arizona’s 12News.

This week, Democrats decided to expend their quickly diminishing political capital in defense of a deported Salvadoran illegal immigrant named Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Garcia was deported to El Salvador some weeks ago; the Department of Justice initially admitted that his deportation was an “administrative error.” It turns out that Garcia had an order withholding removal to his home country, due to his claims that returning to El Salvador would risk his life. Nonetheless, the administration flew him to that country’s Terrorism Confinement Center, where he is apparently being held to date.

Initially, a district court judge ruled that Abrego Garcia’s removal was violative of due process, and that the administration had to “facilitate” his return to the United States. The case was elevated to the Supreme Court, which found 9-0 that while the executive branch likely had the power to order his deportation, it still had to follow court orders to “facilitate” his temporary return for due process reasons. The Trump administration, for its part, claims that it has already “facilitated” his release from custody — that they’ve asked Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele nicely to release him, and that Bukele has refused. Bukele sat in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump and said just that: “The question is preposterous: how can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States?”

Regardless of the legal wrangling over the case — and there is in fact a solid legal basis to the idea that the administration ought to temporarily return Abrego Garcia just to receive a court hearing, after which he can be deported right back again — Democrats have wrong-footed themselves yet again. This week, Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., decided to fly down to El Salvador to visit Abrego Garcia; other Congressional Democrats vowed to do the same. In their telling, Abrego Garcia is an innocent caught up in the mills of wrongheaded justice.

But Abrego Garcia is indeed a nefarious character. It turns out that aside from his illegal immigration status, Garcia’s wife accused him of “violently beating her multiple times” in a 2021 court filing, according to the Daily Mail. When he was originally arrested in 2019, arrest records show he was found with cash and drugs, as well as two other members of MS-13, while wearing gear associated with MS-13. And this is the person Democrats have tried to valorize.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on April 16 fulfilled her past promise to declassify information related to President Joe Biden’s domestic counterterrorism strategy.

Dubbed the “Strategic Implementation Plan” (SIP), the 15-page-long document details the Biden administration’s findings and action plan to counter an alleged increase in homegrown domestic terrorism.

Gabbard released the documents in response to prompting from conservative groups like America First Legal, which expressed concerns about the Biden administration allegedly “censoring disfavored speech on the Internet by labeling such speech ‘misinformation,’ ‘disinformation,’ ‘hate speech,’ ‘domestic terrorism.’”

Coming in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol breach, after which the Biden administration claimed that domestic terrorism was the greatest terror threat the United States faced, the SIP represents the government-wide counterterrorism strategy.

James Carville railed against Democratic National Committee official David Hogg for funding primary challenges against incumbent Democrats, suggesting Wednesday night that he “might” sue Hogg over the effort while calling the Parkland shooting survivor a “contemptible little twerp.”

Carville’s comments come after he called for progressives to distance themselves from the Democratic Party, calling for a “split” due to what the veteran Democratic strategist called “pronoun politics.”

Hogg, a 25-year-old gun control activist, who was elected the DNC’s vice chair, has sparked an intra-party uproar over his announcement that his political group, Leaders We Deserve, would be spending $20 million to challenge “asleep-at-the-wheel” Democrats in deep-blue districts.

Democrats are rushing to organize trips to El Salvador as President Trump refuses to comply with a Supreme Court order to facilitate the return of a Maryland resident who was erroneously deported to the country.

Why it matters: It’s not just about one deportee, or even immigration policy, lawmakers say. “This is about a president of the United States defying the Supreme Court and wanting to be a king,” said Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.).

It’s not about any deportees, or ‘immigration policy’; they’re just the pretext. It’s about trying to make themselves look good, Trump look bad, and frustrating the results of a democratic election, for which ‘Democrats’ have never had much use.

Garcia and Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) are trying to secure GOP authorization to lead a congressional delegation to visit deportees at El Salvador’s Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT), Axios first reported Tuesday.

Thereby giving it some sort of ‘official’ coloration, to offset the undeniable authority Trump has as President.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) is leaving Wednesday to travel to the Central American country. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is also planning a trip, as Axios first reported.

Let’s all jump aboard the bandwagon, shall we? Virtue-signaling is not just for the proglodyte-in-the-closet.

Newsom announced on April 4 he would ask trade partners to exempt California-made products from any retaliatory tariffs and seek to develop new “strategic trade relationships,” doubling down on his approach Wednesday after Trump issued a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs while leaving in place the 10% baseline and increasing tariffs on China.

Protesters disrupted a town hall meeting held by one of President Trump’s closest allies in Congress, prompting police to physically remove them and taser one.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican congresswoman from Georgia, attracted a crowd of more than 150 supporters to a community centre in suburban Atlanta while demonstrators rallied outside. A small group of protesters managed to enter the event, and at least three people were arrested including two who were tasered after they scuffled with police.

Greene, one of Trump’s most loyal and vocal allies, repeatedly said “bye” to people being escorted from the room and praised officers for their response.

“This is a town hall; this is not a political rally; this is not a protest,” Greene said.

Police said they had arrested a 40-year-old Atlanta man, a 45-year-old man from Dallas, Georgia, and a 28-year-old woman on charges including obstructing police and violating a city ordinance forbidding vulgar language in a public place.

First they came for Mahmoud Khalil, and I said nothing because I thought it was a damn good idea. He is a citizen of Syria who came to America to get a college degree. After graduating he stayed in America to be a leader in a group dedicated to supporting Hamas by disrupting normal activities at Columbia University, threatening and harassing Jewish students. Hamas is an organization that deliberately seeks out and murders as many Jewish babies, infants, and toddlers as it can. They came to deport him. Not imprison him; not kill him. They came to give him a free plane ride back to his home country. For reasons unknown, Democrats are outraged.

Then they came for Kilmar Garcia (a.k.a. “Maryland Man”), and again I said nothing because it was a damn good idea. Mr. Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador who entered the USA illegally. He is also a member of a criminal gang known as MS-13. MS-13 murders people for fun and profit. An earlier attempt to deport Mr. Garcia was delayed by an immigration judge who was concerned that Mr. Garcia would be in danger if returned to El Salvador. This is due to rival gang enemies who wished him harm. They deported him anyway, perhaps by a paperwork mistake. Democrats are outraged again, for reasons unknown.

Next they came for others with MS-13 tattoos. Democrats are convinced that Trump is moving so fast to deport foreign gang members that innocent people must be getting swept up and deported by mistake. Democrats are particularly concerned for innocent people who happen to have tattoos that are gang-related. Apparently, Democrats have never spoken to anyone who knows anything about gang tattoos—you need permission to get a gang tattoo. It is a badge of honor that must be earned. If someone has an unauthorized gang tattoo, the gang will kill them. MS-13 has no American citizens as members. Wannabe members must earn membership by committing violent crimes. Deporting all MS-13 members appears to me to be a no-brainer. Again, for reasons unknown, Democrats are outraged.

Next they came for Tren de Aragua gang members. There is no dispute that they (1) entered the USA illegally, and (2) make their living by committing crimes. Democrats insist we slow things down to give each member a court hearing of some sort. Democrats are silent as to what evidence such people could possibly present at such a hearing that should prevent their deportation. Again, I am silent and my silence means approval.

This format, of course, echoes the “Als sie kamen” rhetoric of Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller about Nazi Germany, which proglodytes have perennially repurposed to complain about anybody anywhere holding them responsible for anything.

UPDATE: Jennifer Rubin tries this trick, as expected – Free Kilmar  One of the oldest ploys in the proglodyte ploybook is taking the moral high ground and dragging it into the mud, hoping that people will be fooled. The error here, which they think with enough handwaving you won’t notice, is that socialists, trade unionists, an Jews aren’t ipso facto criminals–although a lot of them seem to turn out eventually to be criminals–but illegal immigrants, jihadist, and drug cartel thugs /murderers are ipso facto criminals. As Scott Adams never tires of saying, analogies can illustrate your point but cannot prove it. Analogies can’t prove anything, because they deal with a different situation, however much it might be similar, and however much you might wish it did.

A federal judge in Puerto Rico issued a scathing order last week accusing Democratic prosecutors on the island of plagiarizing nearly their entire 241-page complaint that blamed oil companies for causing global warming.

In the order Wednesday, district court judge Aida Delgado-Colon outlined how David Efron, the lead attorney representing Puerto Rico’s capital city San Juan, appears to have plagiarized a similar but separate complaint that 16 Puerto Rican municipalities filed a year earlier. A side-by-side comparison of the two complaints shows large blocks of text are copied word-for-word.

A criminal referral against New York Attorney General Letitia James has been filed with the DOJ, alleging that James had “falsified records” to get home loans for a Virginia property that she claimed was her “principal residence” in 2023 – while she was serving as a New York state prosecutor.

The Department of Justice has charged a self-identified “queer scientist” in the firebombings of a Tesla dealership and the Republican Party headquarters in Albuquerque.

Jamison Wagner, 40, is accused of setting fire to multiple cars at a Tesla dealership on February 9 and vandalizing the facility with graffiti, including the words “Die Elon,” according to a federal complaint. Wagner struck again the following month, prosecutors allege, setting fire to the Republican Party office in Albuquerque and painting the phrase “ICE=KKK” on the building.

The granddaughter of Hillary Clinton’s mentor was officially charged with felony vandalism and trespassing after she “ransacked” the Stanford University president’s office as part of an anti-Israel demonstration last year.

Santa Clara District Attorney Jeff Rosen on Thursday announced the charges against Zoe Edelman, the granddaughter of Children’s Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman, whom Hillary Clinton has called her “hero and mentor.” Eleven other suspects were also charged in the case.

A top House panel that oversees public land policies is investigating five green groups that brokered a settlement with federal officials in the waning days of the Biden administration, forcing family-owned ranches to vacate their leases on federal property over environmental concerns, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Under the January 2025 settlement between the green groups, owners of 11 multi-generational ranches, and the National Park Service, 12 of the 14 existing organic dairies and cattle ranches located across Point Reyes National Seashore in northern California will be abandoned by early 2026. The agreement was made possible by the Nature Conservancy, a Virginia-based group which financed the agreement and will pay the ranchers an undisclosed sum of money.

The settlement is the culmination of a lawsuit the green groups in question filed against the National Park Service in 2022. The lawsuit argued that the agency had illegally leased Point Reyes National Seashore property for commercial beef and dairy ranching “despite the significant harm that it causes to environmental, scenic, and recreational values.” Environmental activists have long attacked ranching, arguing it destroys surrounding habitats and produces carbon emissions.

The head of the nation’s largest health care union “has for years used the politically influential union’s funds to benefit himself, his family and political allies,” Politico reported after reviewing thousands of pages of financial records and interviewing more than 20 current and former union staffers.

George Gresham, president of the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, spent more than $60,000 in union funds on hotel stays, meals, and transportation for his daughter to accompany him as a caregiver on business trips, according to Politico. The union also paid over $86,000 for Gresham’s flights to South Africa and $17,000 for his extended stay at a Bronx hotel—even though he owns a home nearby and earns a $300,000 annual salary.

“Whatever George needs, they find the money to do it,” one union employee told Politico, while a former staffer said that “it was clear I wasn’t supposed to ask questions about a whole bunch of stuff.” Another staffer said that, unlike Gresham, “our members don’t get an unlimited piggy bank where they can just tap it anytime they need something.” Nearly all of the interviewed staffers requested anonymity for fear of retaliation by Gresham and his allies, Politico reported.

Democrat Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz is blocking more than 300 of President Donald Trump’s nominees from swift confirmation votes despite previously criticizing efforts to stall nominations during the Biden administration.

Schatz’s blockade on hundreds of Trump nominees and at least nine bipartisan foreign relations bills comes as Senate Democrats are escalating opposition tactics against the Trump administration to appease their left-wing base. Schatz, a member of Senate Democrat leadership, previously criticized Republican Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s decision to place holds on military officials’ promotions as “obstruction” and “antithetical” to the Senate’s “advice and consent” responsibilities.

Schatz expanded his holds on Trump nominees to include individuals tapped to serve across 12 agencies, such as former New York Republican Rep. Anthony D’Esposito whom Trump appointed to a Department of Labor position, Axios reported.

A new crop of Democratic candidates is trying to turn the midterms into a referendum on age and complacency in their party’s ranks.

In recent weeks, Jake Rakov, a 37-year-old former staffer to Rep. Brad Sherman of California, announced he is challenging his onetime boss, lambasting the 70-year-old, 15-term incumbent for not doing enough when the district was engulfed by wildfires. Progressive YouTuber Kat Abughazaleh, 26, is taking on 80-year-old Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, declaring that the party desperately needs to “change the establishment.” Saikat Chakrabarti, the 39-year-old former chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), is going up against former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, saying, “we are living in a totally different America than the one she knew when she entered politics 45 years ago.”

And on Wednesday, George Hornedo, a 34-year-old who went viral on TikTok for his comments about a “party elder” discouraging him from mounting a Democratic primary bid in Indiana, announced he is running against eighth-term Democratic Rep. Andre Carson.

For decades, Democrats have been telling us that the climate apocalypse was just around the corner. If we didn’t adopt renewable fuels and energy sources immediately, we would all bake to death from global warming.

Democrats didn’t care about the jobs or economic growth they would destroy to appease their climate gods. “Learn to code,” they said.

Unfortunately for Democrats, the company making the most popular electric car in America is Tesla, owned by the Left’s newest bete noire, Elon Musk.

They hate Musk because he and his Department of Government Efficiency are cutting off the gravy train of federal funding of left-wing nongovernmental organizations—the taxpayer-subsidized entities that allow unemployed leftists to protest while you and I are at work and that provide jobs to otherwise unemployable grievance studies majors.

So, faced with a choice between saving the environment and opposing Musk, what did Democrats do?

Easy. Democrats decided to look out for themselves. Musk has to be stopped, no matter what it means for the environment.

Democrats went from ostentatiously buying Teslas as a symbol of their virtue to ostentatiously selling Teslas as a symbol of their commitment to the party. Whether buying or selling the car was worthwhile didn’t matter to Democrats; for them, everything about Tesla is performative.

Sen. Cory Booker’s (D., N.J.) marathon 25-hour speech last week broke a Senate speaking record. But his fundraising off that speech broke long-standing Senate ethics rules, a watchdog group alleged in a complaint filed Tuesday.

The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT), an ethics watchdog nonprofit organization, alleged that Booker violated ethics rules by using his record-breaking speech for campaign purposes. In a complaint filed Tuesday with the Senate Select Committee on Ethics, the watchdog group highlighted a series of campaign messages Booker sent to his supporters during and after his record-breaking performance on the Senate floor, including messages asking followers to “stand with Cory” during his speech by signing up for his email list and others that solicited contributions for Booker and the DNC from anyone “inspired” by his historic showing.

Booker’s use of his record-breaking Senate speech to raise money for his campaign is a clear violation of long-standing ethics rules that prohibit lawmakers from using their official position for campaign purposes, FACT said in its complaint. If Booker’s violation goes unpunished, the group warned, the Senate floor “will increasingly be seen as a campaign venue and treated as such.”

Political theater is what Dramacrats do best. Converting political theater to cash comes second. Ignoring rules that they find inconvenient is a permanent part of their character.

Most of our readers are too young to remember the Vietnam War of a half-century ago, but those of us alive who held draft cards classifying us as 1A have a more personal perspective. In 1971, when I received my low draft number, all I could think was that perhaps I, too, would have to participate in the horror that was combat in that wicked war.

The Paris Peace Accords of January 1973—signed a month after I took my military physical—ended direct US involvement, although the US government continued to aid the South Vietnamese until their government and armed forces completely collapsed in April 1975. Today, Vietnam and the US are at peace with each other, but even today, unexploded US bombs continue to blow up and kill innocent people.

A dark web doxxing website targeting Tesla owners and allies of Elon Musk appears to be compiled from hacked data originally stolen from a massive ParkMobile app breach in 2021, according to records obtained by a data privacy group.

The site, known as DogeQuest, first appeared in March and publishes names, home addresses, contact details, and other personal information tied to Tesla drivers and Department of Government Efficiency staff. Marketed as a hub for anti-Musk “creative expressions of protest,” the platform has been linked to real-world vandalism and remains live on the dark web. Federal investigations into DogeQuest are already underway, the New York Post first reported.

“If you’re on the hunt for a Tesla to unleash your artistic flair with a spray can, just step outside—no map needed! At DOGEQUEST, we believe in empowering creative expressions of protest that you can execute from the comfort of your own home,” the surface-web DogeQuest site reads. “DOGEQUEST neither endorses nor condemns any actions.”

Journalist Matt Taibbi is suing Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove for libel, after the California Democrat claimed during her opening remarks in a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing on Tuesday that he’s a “serial sexual harasser.”

To look at the Pacific Northwest today one would never know that 25 years ago the region was an economic powerhouse at the forefront of technology and business innovation. At the time Portland and Seattle were known for constant rain as well as raining cash, and the “millionaire density” of the Seattle area was at historic highs. The tech boom and international trade with Asia had created a Silicon Valley of the northern coast.

Companies like Nike, Starbucks, Microsoft and Amazon established corporate offices and generated tens of thousands of jobs, and many of those jobs were considered high income. People can debate the overall effects of the population surge to the region; there are many who would argue that Washington and Oregon were better off when they were considered backwoods fishing and lumber states. That said, it’s undeniable that for a time the Northwest was one of the most desirable and lucrative places to live in the US.

That’s all gone now. The wealthy are leaving Seattle like it’s a leper colony and all that’s left are millions of broke activists, poverty stricken residents and illegal immigrants. Some blame the constant riots or the steady stream of welfare recipients. Others say that the draconian covid mandates caused people to jump ship. However, a primary factor in businesses (and money) leaving the city was the institution of a progressive “Payroll Expense Tax”.
