A Democratic New York congressman is calling on the NYPD to arrest and prosecute ICE agents who engage in “unlawful actions” during federal immigration crackdowns in the city.
Democrats are lawfare central.
In a letter to NYPD commissioner Jessica Tisch, U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman rips U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection officers’ “outrageous and unlawful conduct” in cities around the country, saying they have been “violently and improperly” arresting U.S. citizens.
That’s an assumption on his part, otherwise he would cite cases. There are ways to object to what LEOs so, and this isn’t one of them. It is, however, the way that empowers him to make spurious accusations, without the perceived need to cite any evidence, and grandstand for the news media, which I suspect is all it is.
Goldman said with the “likely possibility” that the Department of Homeland Security will “send armies of agents into New York City for civil immigration purposes” he urged the NYPD to be “prepared to strictly enforce state and local laws in order to hold federal agents accountable for any unlawful actions they engage in, including potentially through arrest and prosecution for felony violations.”
Said Commissioner will, if she (it’s always a she in a Blue state) knows anything about the law, ignore him, because of two little words: Qualified Immunity. (Feel free to look it up. Or, if you’re lazy, just ask your favorite AI.)
It’s astonishing the number of Congressmen, who are in charge of writing our laws, appear to know nothing about the laws to which they are attempting to add (or modify, as the case may be). This applies even to those who are lawyers (by training if not by trade) who one would expect to know better. In this particular case, he does know better, being a JD from Stanford; I suspect he’s traded his lawyer hat for a politician hat and never looked back.

Several blue cities, led by Chicago, want federal money to keep flowing but aren’t willing to abide by the Trump administration’s condition of dropping diversity, equity, and inclusion policies to get it.
Joining Chicago in the lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are Boston, New York, Baltimore, Denver, Minneapolis, St. Paul, and New Haven, Connecticut.
The cities filed the case of Chicago v. Noem in federal court in the Northern District of Illinois Monday. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is named in her official capacity as the defendant.

shutdown. They also voted against funding the military, thereby necessitating that the Pentagon initiate some innovative accounting in order to ensure service members are paid on time.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., defended his caucus’s latest vote, opining, “It’s always been unacceptable to Democrats to do the defense bill without other bills that have so many things that are important to the American people in terms of health care, in terms of housing, in terms of safety.” But to most Americans, such tendentious bloviating falls on deaf ears. Most commonsense Americans understand that there is no reason paying America’s warriors should be held hostage to arcane debates over housing policy.
As Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., one of three Senate Democrats who joined Republicans on Thursday in support of the defense appropriations bill, put it earlier this week: “You know, if you’re thinking about winning the election, now, that’s all going to come down to seven or eight states. … And a lot of the things, the extremism that people turned their back in ’24, and that’s how we kind of came up short.”
It’s wise advice. But Fetterman is likely to pay for being such a rare voice of (relative) reason within the party with an impending bruising Senate primary contest.
Why exactly are Democrats, who control neither chamber of Congress nor the presidency, continuing to insist on a protracted shutdown battle? It’s a more complex question than it ought to be. But the basic disagreement amounts to one over expiring Obamacare subsidies and the scope of Medicaid coverage—pertaining, to no small extent, to illegal aliens.
Democrats always have to act as it they are in charge, even when they aren’t, because they can’t admit that they aren’t without destorying the fantasy world in which they all live.

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom seeks to use the mass mail-in ballot state’s Democrat stranglehold to crush California’s independent redistricting commission, but a deep-pocketed key figure in establishing it does not want it to die in the darkness of partisan force.
Charles Munger Jr., a Berkshire Hathaway heir backed by his late father’s $2 billion estate, is committed “to protect something that he fought so hard alongside us to win,” Common Cause CEO Virginia Kase Solomón told The Washington Post.
But Common Cause, which co-wrote Munger Jr.’s Propositions 11 and 20 to make redistricting independent of the state’s Democrat stranglehold, recently returned his $200,000 August donation, saying it would not join the heir in opposing Newsom’s Proposition 50.

The president is still riding on global goodwill for the release of hostages from Hamas. On stage in Egypt, the president of Pakistan praised President Donald Trump for bringing peace to what could have become a nuclear war between Pakistan and India. The Israeli people love him more than they do their own leaders. But here at home, Democrats have kept voting to keep the government shut down.
Democrats, however, have been careful with their battle. Trump has moved defense funding around to make sure the military gets paid this week. He will not be able to keep doing it, but for now, our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines will get paid. Democrats are publicly protesting that this is unconstitutional. None of them are, so far, willing to fight the president on it. Democrats are refusing to vote for the same continuing resolution authored by and submitted by Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer just last year. The resolution is the same, and Democrats are now killing what they themselves wrote last year.
Therein lies the problem for the Democrats. They want credit for fighting Trump and shutting down the government, but they don’t want any blame for shutting down the government. On Wednesday, the 15th day of the government shutdown, neither the New York Times, the Washington Post, nor the Wall Street Journal had a front-page story about the shutdown. If the press could praise the Democrats, they undoubtedly would. But at this point, few Americans are feeling the effects of the shutdown. Social security checks are going out, the military is getting paid, passports are being issued and life goes on.

San Francisco Democrat District Attorney Brooke Jenkins reiterated she would not “hesitate” to bring charges against federal agents or National Guard troops if she had a “provable case,” Politico reported Thursday.
Jenkins made her latest comments Wednesday, hours after President Donald Trump again said he’s considering deploying the National Guard to San Francisco, which he called “a mess.” She first warned federal agents of possible charges in a social media post last week.
Jenkins said she would take the unprecedented step of bringing charges, such as excessive force, if U.S. troops or immigration agents broke local laws.
“If I believe, and have conviction, that we can meet our burden and charges are appropriate, that I won’t hesitate to do so,” she told Politico.

While the federal shutdown grinds on, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Rep. When Sen. Elizabeth A. Warren recently traveled to the Big Apple to endorse New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, she was asked if overt socialism is really the best model for Democrats to adopt. “You bet,” she replied in her signature folksy style.
The Boston lawmaker wasn’t just jumping on the sudden trendiness of socialism three-and-a-half decades after its near-extinction. With fellow Senate traveler Bernie Sanders, Warren has been a catalyst for moving her party to the left since her first campaign in 2012.
She and Sanders are, in many ways, the godparents of the self-avowed Democratic Socialists such as Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who are providing the youthful energy for the Democrats in the Trump era.
As history has proved, socialism is only for the proletariat. The apparatchiks skate free.
Financial records examined by RealClearInvestigations show that Warren has hardly followed the path of socialism in her personal finances. Start with the redistribution of wealth. Warren tirelessly bashes the “selfish” and “greedy” rich for not paying their “fair share,” and demands the government step in and redistribute their income to the poor. But charity does not always begin in the Warren home.
While Warren hauls in nearly $1 million a year, she donated less than 3% of her household income to charity in 2024, according to her tax returns. This is much less than the charity of the Obamas, for instance, who typically donate more than 20% of their earnings to the needy and philanthropic causes, and low for the average American in her income bracket, studies show. The average millionaire donates more than twice her share.
It also appears that Warren opens her pocketbook wider when she’s running for national office and under a bigger media microscope.
The $26,669 in charitable deductions Warren reported on her tax returns last year pales in comparison to the $81,858, or 9% of income, she reported as she launched her campaign for the White House in 2020.

A three-day operation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) nabbed 120 illegal aliens – three of four of whom have commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) issued by U.S. states that grant CDLs regardless of immigration status.
The issue of illegal alien CDLs made national news in August, when Harjinder Singh attempted to make an illegal U-turn, causing a deadly wreck that killed three people in Florida. Singh has been charged with vehicular homicide.
In the ICE-OHP operation, which concluded September 25, the CDL of one illegal alien taken into custody had “No Name Given Anmol” listed as his identity on his license.
Three-fourths (75.8%) of the 120 illegal aliens arrested in the operation have commercial driver’s licenses.
Of those 91 illegal aliens with CDLs, nearly two-thirds (63.8%) were issued their commercial driver’s licenses by either California or New York – both so-called “sanctuary states”.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) claimed that “nobody” knows what the left-wing terrorist organization Antifa is and that it does not exist, despite promoting an Antifa “handbook” in a 2018 social media post.

He went on to claim that “the first person I ever heard use the word Antifa was Donald J. Trump when he was going on about Charlottesville.”
A since-deleted X post made by Ellison in 2018 while he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives shows him holding Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, authored by Rutgers University “antifascist historian” Mark Bray. In Federalist No. 51, James Madison famously wrote that “ambition must be made to counteract ambition.” He believed that members of each branch of government would jealously protect their own institutions from the other branches.
Of course, Madison never met Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY). Goldman is an example of how the wrong type of ambition can destroy Congress if it becomes widespread among members.
This week, both Republican and Democratic members raised alarm over the disclosure that special counsel Jack Smith tracked the telephone calls by members of both houses of Congress.
Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) stated, “On the surface of it, it would strike me as a significant invasion of the right of senators to conduct their jobs, so this is something that needs urgent follow-up.”
But one member leaped to dismiss such institutional concerns as much ado about nothing. Goldman attacked the victims as legitimate targets to help “confirm Trump’s effort to overturn the election.”
Goldman has long been viewed as the face of rage politics in Washington. He often uses hearings to attack witnesses and political opponents. His signature style involves heaping insults on witnesses and then immediately “reclaiming his time” to prevent them from answering his accusations.

A long-left-leaning billionaire philanthropist has triggered San Francisco politicians by praising President Trump’s performance in office — and even more so by urging Trump to deploy National Guard soldiers to suppress the city’s rampant criminality.
“I fully support the president,” said Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff in an interview with the New York Times. “I think he’s doing a great job.” That puts Benioff at stark odds with his fellow San Franciscans: In a June Public Policy Institute of California poll, 77% of Bay Area residents disapproved of Trump’s performance. Benioff recounted his recent honor of sitting across a table from Trump at a state dinner hosted by King Charles at Windsor Castle, and said he used the dinner to tell Trump “how grateful I am for everything he’s doing.”
The reason Democrat politicians prefer criminals to billionaires is (a) there are more criminals than billionaires, hence more votes, (b) criminals are more stupid than billionaires, hence more likely to vote for Democrats, and (c) there are enough foolish billionaires that will make massive political contributions to Democrats (Lenin’s ‘useful idiots’) that they’ll still rake in the bucks. On Tuesday, a judge released pending trial the two suspects arrested for ramming and boxing in a vehicle driven by a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agent in Chicago on Saturday, saying they were not a flight risk and could be trusted to appear in court.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Heather McShain was the judge who presided over the detention hearing, Judge McShain said, given that both are U.S. citizens and lifelong residents of Chicago with no criminal history, they can be released on bond, pending trial, WGN Chicago reports.
Marimar Martinez – reportedly armed with a semi-automatic weapon – and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz were participating in a protest against federal immigration law enforcement in the city when they allegedly rammed the CBP vehicle and attempted to box it in.
According to the criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, Martinez and Ruiz used their vehicles to strike the vehicle containing three CBP agents Saturday morning near the intersection of West 39th Street and South Kedzie Avenue on Chicago’s Southwest Side.
Both suspects fled, but were quickly apprehended, the Justice Department reports. Martinez, who had been shot during the confrontation, was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she received treatment for her wounds.
The complaint charges Martinez, 30, and Ruiz, 21, both of Chicago, with assault on a federal officer using a deadly or dangerous weapon, as well as impeding, and interfering with a federal law enforcement officer.

The Schumer Shutdown dragged through the weekend, with neither side budging. Republicans pushed for a straightforward continuing resolution to keep the government funded through November, but Democrats chose to hold the line for their wish list of radical spending priorities—billions and billions of dollars’ worth—and in doing so, shut the government down. The media has focused on their demand for free health care for illegal immigrants, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lot more buried in this standoff that isn’t getting the attention it deserves.
Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) took to the Senate floor this week and laid out, in his trademark blunt and hilarious fashion, exactly what Democrats are trying to shut the government down over—and it’s every bit as ridiculous as you’d expect.
“Basically, President Trump just said, ‘We want you to take some stuff out of the budget that we think is wasteful,’” Kennedy began. “And we did — and that upset the congresswoman.”
That “congresswoman,” of course, is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who, according to Kennedy, went ballistic when Trump and congressional Republicans started cutting some of the more absurd Biden-era spending priorities.
Kennedy didn’t hold back as he read aloud what Democrats are fighting to restore.

Every once in a while, I check in on the Democrats to see if they have somehow organically manifested one new brain cell while they just sleep, lobotomized and Matrix-pod style, in the liquid goo of groupthink, identity politics, race hustling, “academic” theories, and post-post-post-postmodern ideologies (the fourth post just kills you)—and I’m quickly assured that they have made no progress whatsoever.
For example, here’s Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett stating just days ago that just because somebody commits a crime, it doesn’t make them a criminal, while her yoga teacher nods along in deep agreement as though she has just presented a breakthrough in differential geometry at MIT and he’s in the class following along, taking notes.

Since Democrats have shut down the federal government because they want another $1.5 trillion bailout of Obamacare, it’s a good time to remind everyone that the law has been a wide-ranging and expensive fiasco.
Virtually every promise made by Democrats regarding the Affordable Care Act has failed to come true.
Sure, former President Barack Obama infamously promised that Americans could keep their preferred insurance if they desired. By the end of his second term, around 7 million people had been booted from their insurance because of the Affordable Care Act. Who knows how many have been dropped since.
But let’s also not forget that Obama pledged that the law would reduce family health insurance premiums by “up to” $2,500 annually by the end of his first term. Premiums not only continued to rise during his presidency, but since 2010, they have spiked from $13,000 to nearly $24,000.
Democrats used to love to talk about “bending the cost curve.” Well, congrats.

The “Schumer Shutdown” is here and Democrats have essentially reversed 30 years of messaging about the dangers of closing the government.
Forty-three Senate Democrats, led by Minority Leader Chuck Shumer, D-N.Y., voted against a stopgap budget measure Tuesday night that triggered a government shutdown. This came over protests by congressional Republicans and President Donald Trump.
It’s a remarkable reversal for America’s two major political parties.
In past shutdown debates, Republicans have typically been in the more difficult position of demanding budget cuts while Democrats blast them for not supporting X, Y, and Z. In many cases, there has been a Democrat in the White House who could help congressional Democrats craft any narrative they chose about the catastrophic consequence of the government closing.
They’ve typically portrayed the ensuing government shutdowns as something akin to the apocalypse.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., posted a montage of Democrats arguing during past budget battles, saying that shutting down the government would be devastating to the average American.

“So we do want to provide health care funds for illegals,” Fox News’ Brit Hume pointed out, reacting to a Democrat congressman’s admission Tuesday that not all of the increase in health care funding Democrats want is going to American citizens.
“So we do want to provide health care funds for illegals, but just not much of it,” Chief Political Analyst Hume wrote on X.com, responding to video of Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) on Fox Business discussing the funding battle that has caused the government to shut down.

Barack Obama’s long-promised presidential library is shaping up to be just as corrupt as his administration. You probably haven’t heard much about this in the media, but recent tax filings reveal that money donated to the Obama Foundation—supposedly earmarked for his sprawling “presidential center” in Chicago—is quietly being redirected to one of the left’s most notorious dark money groups: the Tides Foundation.
The numbers tell the story. In 2022 and 2023, the Obama Foundation handed over $2 million to Tides, a group best known for serving as a clearinghouse for radical left-wing causes and for shielding donor identities. It should come as no surprise that George Soros heavily backs Tides, and Tides is directly tied to groups organizing anti-Israel protests. That includes demonstrations against the Jewish state in the aftermath of the Oct. 7 Hamas atrocities. In other words, donations made in the name of funding a presidential library are now helping bankroll organizations promoting antisemitic activism under the guise of social justice.

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division is suing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, claiming it is infringing on the rights of citizens seeking concealed-carry permits.
The lawsuit is the first affirmative case in support of gun owners filed by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Civil Rights Division said it had received numerous complaints that revealed “inexplicable” delays well beyond California’s statutory requirements and in violation of the Second Amendment.

The New York Times Magazine posted a 2,500-word essay, likely bound for the next print edition of the Sunday magazine, by far-left Times journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones: “What the Public Memory of Charlie Kirk Revealed.” Hannah-Jones was the force behind the paper’s discredited revisionist history The 1619 Project, which tied the founding of America to slavery.
The headline deck to this callous piece, another failed and personally obnoxious attempt at ideological revisionism.

In emotionally fraught testimony Monday, Steve Federico, father of a young woman who was brutally murdered by a black career criminal in South Carolina, pleaded with Democrats to stop protecting dangerous criminals with soft-on-crime policies.
The House Judiciary Committee held a field hearing in Charlotte, North Carolina, Monday, to “examine violent crime in Charlotte, North Carolina and the surrounding areas looking at repeat offenders and lenient pretrial release policies and decisions among others.”
The man’s daughter, Logan Federico, 22, was fatally shot in the chest by Alexander Dickey, 30, during a home invasion on May 3, 2025. She had been visiting friends at a rented property in Columbia, South Carolina at the time of the execution-style murder.

“Let your rage fuel you.” Those words from Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Abigail Spanberger captured what I have called “rage politics” in America.
Across the country, politicians and pundits are fueling rage, encouraging voters to embrace it. If you turn on the television, you would think that Darth Sidious had taken over: “Give in to your anger. With each passing moment, you grow stronger.”
I do not think for a second that Spanberger supports violence. She was sharing with voters the “sage advice” of her mother, which she said she has applied in her political career. However, the anger is all around us.
I think she supports violence–if it’s against Republicans. It seems pretty obvious.

Democrats in Congress are calling on the Federal Communications Commission to protect subsidies that help reduce the cost of Wi-Fi on school buses.
In a letter led by Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., the lawmakers argue against FCC Chair Brendan Carr, who said in a press release last month that the commission should end expansion of the E-Rate program, which provides discounts on Wi-Fi on buses and hot spots on school campuses.
“Rolling back the E-Rate hotspot and school bus decisions would undercut some of the most effective tools for addressing inequities in home connectivity and would reverse progress in closing the ‘Homework Gap.’ For millions of students, especially those from low-income households, internet access outside of school walls is not a luxury but a prerequisite for academic success,” reads the letter, which was signed by Sens. Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico, Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, and Peter Welch of Vermont, and Rep. Grace Meng of New York, all Democrats.
Holding out for the Really Important Stuff.
