Paul Mirengoff shares the wealth.
Most of us have heard of the midlife crisis and some may know about it first hand. Max Boot’s midlife crisis seems unusually acute.
First, he abandons long-held positions. Then, he forgets how to make a coherent argument. Now, he tweets: “I enjoyed chatting with ??@StormyDaniels?? at the reception after ??@RealTimers?? tonight.”
I’m not on Twitter, but was under the impression that only teenagers, narcissists, and the hopelessly starstruck put up tweets about whom they just chatted with.
Boot doesn’t tell us what he and Stormy chatter about. It’s probably just as well.

When they signal their virtue, the Democrats expose their distance from voters’ concerns about the economic, legal and cultural consequences of immigration. Of course, the Republicans are also doing little more than signaling their virtue by shouting about law and order, and sticking it to the Mexicans. But while the Democratic strategy is cynically foolish, the Republican strategy is cynically effective. The domestic politics of the migrant caravan may be a double act of inanity and cynicism, but the electorate will not applaud the actors equally. The Democrats are cueing up the Republicans’ electoral punch line.

Donald Trump says the U.S. plans to withdraw from the 1987 INF nuclear arms-control treaty that everyone agrees Russia has been violating for a decade. Yet somehow this is said to be reckless behavior by—Donald Trump? Welcome to the high church of arms control in which treaties are sacrosanct no matter the violation.

Two water-centric tech organizations, The Skysource and Skywater Alliance, teamed up to develop a shipping-container-enclosed device that can turn water vapor (i.e., humidity) into drinking water at a significantly cheaper rate than other, similar technology or techniques like desalination. The group’s technique recently won the $1.50 million Water Abundance XPRIZE, a two-year competition devoted to coming up with energy-efficient ways to harvest fresh water from the air.
I wonder whether that would work in Texas.
The prize-winning version is powered by biogas, making it easy to operate almost anywhere. The biofuel gassifier creates renewable energy cheaply from cast-offs like wood chips, coconut shells, and dead plants, vaporizing the material to generate power. The system also generates a lot of heat, which is good for pulling water out of the air—think of how humid it is in the summer versus the winter. In the process of generating energy, the biogassifier also creates biochar, a type of charcoal that can improve soil fertility.
We got plenty of biogas in Texas. We can start with Austin.

Ah, the Jewish mother! She, no doubt, is the source of Jewish zeal. A Jewish mother is a nuclear reactor of energy that is measured in megatons. It is no wonder that her children are blessed with zeal. Conservatives are using identity politics to destroy liberalism from within.
Actually, conservatives have little to do with it. Proglodytes are doing it all by themselves. The system they’ve built is disintegrating because of its own internal contradictions.

Steve Sailer deconstructs some memes.
I realize I am a horrible extremist, unlike the folks who pronounce so confidently in the New York Times, but it would seem to me that DNA can tell us some things about human identity, which is an interestingly complex subject.
For example, Honolulu preppy Barack Obama may well have had less “lived experience” while growing up of being an African American than did Rachel Dolezal, who grew up with black (adopted) siblings. But Obama had the DNA (and a 150,000-word memoir explaining that his “Story of Race and Inheritance” was all about his “Dreams From My Father”), while Dolezal didn’t have the DNA.

Ace of Spades is in tune with the zeitgeist.
NPCs have no agency; NPCs don’t think for themselves; NPCs don’t perceive, process, or understand; NPCs arrive at the same worldview not because it’s authentic to their experiences, but automatically. As a descriptor, it suggests that those to whom it applies aren’t even human, but are rather, functionally, robots, or clusters of computer code. That this has resonated as widely as it has is funny, but also a little scary.
I was unfamiliar with this term but I welcome it as another tool in the ongoing endeavor to capture the unique combination of simple-mindedness and inflexibility of the modern proglodyte.
