President Joe Biden is forcing Chicago’s top federal prosecutor to resign amid ongoing criminal probes of powerful Illinois Democrats and their associates.
U.S. attorney John Lausch is prosecuting close confidants of Democrat boss Mike Madigan, an ally of former president Barack Obama who resigned from the state legislature Thursday after a decades-long reign in Springfield. Lausch’s office will also prosecute Chicago alderman Edward Burke (D.), an influential figure accused of strong-arming businesses into retaining his law firm.
Investigating Democrats? Can’t have THAT!

At younger ages than ever before, American children are being targeted by the left with sexual content and destructive gender ideology.
It’s coming at them not just from cultural forces in social media and entertainment, but from state governments and local school boards. Now, the White House and Congress are poised to exacerbate these trends by infusing K-12 schools with destructive ideology, politicizing medicine, and undermining parental rights.

Note the smear word ‘flee’. There’s nothing that a U.S. Senator can do to cope with a state-controlled agency’s power mistakes that requires him to be on the scene. If I could have gotten to Mexico, I would have gone.
Biden, as President, has more tools at his disposal to help such a crisis than a Senator. But Biden did — wait for it — exactly nothing. (Oh, now that the crisis is solving itself, they’re providing a bunch of diesel-powered generators — how about those fossil fuels! — which, I predict, will not ever be used.)

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against Amazon on Tuesday night alleging that the online behemoth bypassed regulations meant to protect its workers from COVID-19.
The lawsuit claims that since the pandemic began in March the company refused to adopt legally required safety measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus in its two New York City facilities. It also alleges that Amazon did not adequately sanitize and close its facilities, adopt necessary social distancing measures or notify its employees of possible coronavirus exposures.
…
The lawsuit follows a complaint from Amazon against James made last week in an effort to block it. The company alleged that James was trying to oversee activities and policies that fell under federal law, putting them outside of her jurisdiction and invalidating the suit as a result.
I think Amazon can afford better lawyers than the State of New York can. Of course, the Halfrican New York AG doesn’t care about winning the case (although that would be nice) but mainly about harvesting the headlines.

Earmarks are returning two reasons. The first is that the Swamp itself has returned in full force, now that Trump is gone and his populist movement weakened. The second is that Democratic leaders desperately need a tool to round up congressional votes because their majorities are so thin. A small clique of progressives or centrists can block any bill Pelosi advocates. She and her committee chairs need an effective tool to round up votes.
Earmarks are that tool. Big City Machines used them for decades, securing a councilman’s vote by promising to hire a ne’er-do-well nephew over at Streets and Sanitation department, or put a few more policemen on patrol in his district, or pave the street in front of his mistress’s house. No journalist or political scientist has captured the process better than this brilliant scene from the 1940 movie, His Girl Friday.
My, what a surprise. Democrats are all about buying votes with YOUR money.

Today, Sen. Richard Burr joined six other Republicans in voting to convict President Trump of an impeachable offense. I understand the vote of the other six and consider it defensible, though not how I would have voted.
Unlike the other six, however, Burr previously voted that the trial should not proceed because it is unconstitutional to impeach a president who is no longer in office. But now, Burr has voted to do that unconstitutional thing.

Impeachment managers led by Rep. Raskin charged that following the Capitol storming on January 6, Trump called Senator Mike Lee by accident when he really meant to speak to Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville.
Impeachment manager David Cicilline said “He dialed Senator Lee by accident, and Senator Lee describes it that he had just ended a prayer in the Senate chamber.”
Cicilline then charged that Trump asked Tuberville to “make further objections” to Biden’s election vote count, while Senator Lee “stood by.”
It soon emerged that then entire claim was bullshit, when Senator Lee confirmed it never happened.

George Gascón is the far-left district attorney in Los Angeles. He’s among those prosecutors who, with the backing of George Soros, have gained power and are using it to let criminals walk, or at least to treat them leniently.
To the latter end, Gascón issued a directive to his attorneys forbidding them from seeking longer sentences for repeat offenders under the state’s Three Strikes Law, as well as in several other types of cases where the law mandates sentencing enhancements for those convicted of serious crimes who have prior convictions.
Gascón’s willful refusal to follow California law didn’t sit well with his prosecutors. The Association of Deputy District Attorneys for Los Angeles County (ADDA) brought a lawsuit against Gascón.
Now, a local judge, James Chalfant, has granted a preliminary injunction against Gascón’s directive.

In a Tuesday op-ed in The Wall Street Journal, NYSE President Stacey Cunningham said she and 25 other representatives of New York’s securities industry sent a letter to state legislative leaders warning against the unintended consequences of imposing such a tax.

The latest fundraising plea from Democratic congresswoman Cheri Bustos tells potential donors their money is desperately needed to fund struggling post offices—but every dollar raised is going straight to her campaign.
A Sunday email from Bustos, an Illinois lawmaker who was chairwoman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee last cycle, painted a dire picture of operations at the USPS, and begged recipients to chip in. “We need EVERYONE reading this email to do their part to help us raise $3,420 TODAY and save USPS,” Bustos wrote in the fundraising email, pointing to an NPR report on mail delivery delays. “Please chip in $5 or whatever you can afford right now.”

Joe Biden is a corrupt politician of the old-fashioned variety. He has no fixed convictions about anything. That’s why he has been on both sides of so many important issues.
Biden has never been in the business of accumulating power in service of a policy agenda. He has always been in the business of accumulating power to feed his ego and enrich the Biden family.

Maybe this is a trend. I’m sure that there are a number of California, Oregon, and Washington counties that would rather be a part of, say, Nevada or Idaho. Indeed, I rather suspect that the non-coastal counties of California would rather be their own state.

Franklin Roosevelt with the apparently untouchable achievement of 3,721 executive orders. FDR signed nearly as many executive orders per year that all other presidents averaged over their entire presidencies (many of which were two terms). Interestingly, the executive orders of Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson make up 43% of all the executive orders of all of our presidents in history.
Equally interestingly, the tyrant Donald Trump signed 220 executive orders, which is 3,500 less than FDR. Since the year 1900, the only presidents with fewer executive orders than Trump were JFK, Ford, and Bush I. Trump apparently did not like executive orders. Odd behavior for a tyrant. But never mind.

ust one week after making the decision to close its Union Square store, b8ta CEO Vibhu Norby announced via Twitter on Wednesday that the Hayes Valley store is now closed “indefinitely” as well due to a store manager having a gun pointed at him during a robbery.
“Our story is not exceptional,” Norby said. “I think the city will say it’s a b8ta-specific problem because we have a visible storefront and high-value merchandise, but everybody’s witnessing this.”
He said since his story has been covered in the media, other Hayes Valley merchants have reached out to share stories of their break-ins. Norby said he won’t reopen the store until he sees a month free of break-ins on the block.
The Union Square b8ta store closed last week because there were three muggings on the street it is on this year. “It doesn’t matter how expensive it is,” Norby told SFGATE in January. “We can’t send our employees into a store where there’s even a 2% chance they get mugged.”
The basic problem with Democrats running a city is that they can’t even get right the essential job of a government, protecting the people from harm. They can’t (or won’t) protect them from riots, they can’t protect them from crazy people wandering the streets, and (appently) they can’t protect them from violent crime.
B8ta has stores around the globe, and Norby told SFGATE last month that the crime in San Francisco is unlike anything the company experiences elsewhere. “This actually doesn’t happen anywhere else in the country,” he said. “We have 17 other stores, including three internationally. This just doesn’t happen anywhere else. It’s only here.”

The Other McCain surveys the swamp.
Journalists who actually bothered to check the facts — there are precious few of those in D.C. nowadays — pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez’s office is not in the Capitol building, which was stormed by a mob of Trump supporters Jan. 6. Instead, her office is in the Cannon House Office Building, on the south side of Independence Avenue, across from the Capitol. None of the rioters ever entered the building where AOC was in her office, cowering in her bathroom and allegedly fearing for her life.
