I have a simple job. My patients pay me money to prevent them from becoming dead. I then put that money in a bank account, and use it to pay for groceries and electricity and bourbon and other necessities. Despite my simplistic finances, I hire an accountant to prepare my tax returns. Which are over 100 pages long. He gives me an envelope with over 100 pages of God-knows-what in it, and he says, “Be sure to read through that before you send it in.” As if I could decipher even the first page. I’m a really good doctor, but I don’t understand tax law. So I hire my accountant named “Chris.” Who recommends somebody who recommends “Chip.” Who calls somebody who recommends “Chad,” who recommends working with companies who advertise during golf tournaments, so that I can save some of my own money. And I don’t understand what any of these people do. And this is my money. And, technically, my country. And my government. Pretty much, I thought. After a fashion. Which is passing laws I don’t understand which require me to hire people I don’t know who work for companies I don’t understand to do something that makes no sense. All so that I can save some of my own money.

Like most metro areas, even in Red states like Texas, Dallas is a deep Blue Democrat machine city. As such, it follows the classic Democrat playbook of making law-abiding citizens pay the costs of harebrained social engineering schemes.
Time to leave.

Hint: Yes.
When FBI agents asked for permission to rip hundreds of safe deposit boxes from the walls of a Beverly Hills business and haul them away, U.S. Magistrate Steve Kim set some strict limits on the raid.
The business, U.S. Private Vaults, had been charged in a sealed indictment with conspiring to sell drugs and launder money. Its customers had not.
So the FBI could seize the boxes themselves, Kim decided, but had to return what was inside to the owners.
“This warrant does not authorize a criminal search or seizure of the contents of the safety deposit boxes,” Kim’s March 17 seizure warrant declared.
Yet the FBI is now trying to confiscate $86 million in cash and millions of dollars more in jewelry and other valuables that agents found in 369 of the boxes.
Prosecutors claim the forfeiture is justified because the unnamed box holders were engaged in criminal activity. They have disclosed no evidence to support the allegation.

Team Biden isn’t content with imposing critical race theory (CRT) on America’s students. It also is bent on indoctrinating federal workers in CRT’s grotesquely racist anti-American tenets.
That, at least, is the conclusion I draw from Biden’s selection of Kiran Ahuja to lead the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). If confirmed to that position, Ahuja would be able to oversee the curriculum for the “diversity, equity, and inclusion” training federal employees will receive.
Ahuja is a fan of CRT. She’s a supporter of Ibram X. Kendi, a Boston University professor who is probably the leading exponent of CRT. In fact, Kendi gave a lecture on “anti-racism” (i.e. racism against Whites) for the speaker series sponsored by a group Ahuja heads.
When Kendi wrote that the election of Donald Trump was an example of white supremacy, Ahuja linked to that article. In the same blog post, she spoke of the need to free Black, indigenous, gay, and transgender Americans from the “daily trials of White supremacy.”

Propublica, a leftist media organ, has just published an article on the wealthiest Americans, based on what they acknowledge to be illegal disclosure of taxpayers’ information. They will almost certainly not be prosecuted by the leftist DOJ careerists, once again backed by leftist political appointees. The leftist White House media mouthpieces are good with the felonies and already framing this as the rich not paying their fair share.

Richard Epstein.
… large governments are often hard-pressed to fund their ambitious spending programs. And so the Biden administration proposes to increase the capital-gains top rate from 23.8 percent to 43.4 percent to pay for its $6 trillion American Families Plan, which includes about $1.8 trillion for child care, education, and paid employee leave. But as its Treasury Report makes clear, it fears that the steep capital-gains rate increase will induce massive selling before the effective date of the statute in 2022. It, therefore, proposes an unprecedented step of imposing the higher capital-gains rate on any transaction that took place after late April, when that tax hike was first proposed.
But Treasury misfires badly. Sales of capital assets are good for the economy because they allow individuals to shift from weaker to stronger investments. The inefficiency comes from forcing premature transfers. Yet the massive rate increase proves that high rates, even when applied on a prospective basis, will distort the allocation of capital, depress overall share prices, and ensure that the new tax will fall short of its revenue goals, which are better achieved through durable tax cuts. But the Biden administration plainly ignores these drawbacks for long-term wealth creation in its relentless request for revenue today.

The Other McCain provides an example.
Say hello to Everton Brown, a man from Baltimore, Maryland, seen here in a YouTube video from 2010, protesting at the White House, claiming that he was being targeted for harassment by the FBI.
Brown was not targeted by the FBI. He was crazy.
And what do we know about crazy people, boys and girls? We can leave it to professionals to provide a clinical diagnosis — paranoid schizophrenia, most likely — but when someone organizes their entire life around the delusional belief that they are a victim of persecution, nothing prevents citizens from concluding this person is crazy….
In case you don’t recognize the name, he died in a gun battle with police on May 8 of this year, after killing three of his neighbors.
See how this works? The law apparently does nothing to protect you from crazy people, but “the confidentiality of health records” does prevent you from finding out how many times this kook got turned loose.
Would you be surprised to learn that the Maryland legislature this year rejected a bill that would have established clear guidelines for determining if a crazy person is actually dangerous?
If it does, you need to get out more. (Oh, and stay away from Blue states like Maryland.)

The Washington Post reports that the current U.S. Senate is the oldest in American history. Dianne Feinstein turns 88 this month. Charles Grassley turns 88 in September.
Richard Shelby is 87. James Inhofe is 86. Patrick Leahy is 81. Twenty-three senators are in their 70s. The average age of senators at the beginning of this year was 64.3 years.
It may be that being 88 now is like being, say, 78 a few decades ago. So despite being the oldest, this might not be the most age-impaired Senate in our history. Robert Caro’s book about the Lyndon Johnson-dominated Senate makes it clear that more than a few solons of the 1950s were rendered largely useless by age and/or drink.
Dianne Feinstein and some of the other Senators cited in the Post’s article insist they are still as sharp as a tack. But there must be a few who are losing it. A local pharmacist said in 2017 that he routinely sends Alzheimer’s medication to Capitol Hill.
In reality, it’s likely that most, if not all, of the Senators in their 80s and late 70s aren’t nearly as sharp as they used to be. To me, the interesting question is whether they realize this.

House, and in effect the country. It’s still not out of the question, but it’s beginning to look more like Chief of Staff Ron Klain, unelected and not confirmed by the Senate, is the real president. This should make all Americans uncomfortable.
Klain, who was the vice president’s chief of staff when Biden held that office, has been called “the man executing Biden’s mission” (which seems to be carrying out the Cloward-Piven model that advocates manufacturing a political and economic crisis so that politicians can accrue more power in order to fix it, and use that power to kill off capitalism). He’s also been called Biden’s “co-pilot and fixer.”
Yes, those descriptions could be used to define the chief of staff for any president of any party. There are times, however, and this appears to be one of them, when a chief of staff wields too much authority.

If Republicans had done this to stop a Democrat measure, the Narrative Media would be trumpeting ATTACK ON DEMOCRACY!
And it’s just posturing, because the Governor can just call another special session, which this shenanigan will almost guarantee.
The move was reminiscent of 2003 when outnumbered Democrats twice broke quorum to stop Republican efforts to redraw voting maps. House Democrats first left the state en masse for Ardmore, Oklahoma only to return several days later. Senate Democrats delayed a special session that summer by going as a group to Albuquerque, New Mexico for several weeks.
Ultimately, neither effort worked as the Democrats eventually returned to the Capitol and Republicans passed the bill.

The most interesting thing about what the Fed is now doing is that it is illegal. The Fed’s argument that it is not monetizing the US debt fails now on its own terms. The Fed is buying treasuries for no purpose other than to directly finance the government’s escalating debt.

Many have seen this as another instance of Biden’s weird obsession with little girls. Yes, but I think the truth is worse than that. Biden’s handlers have undoubtedly warned him many times not to act inappropriately toward little girls, but when he goes off-script, as here, he can’t help himself. As indicated, too, by the manner in which he speaks, I think Biden is well into his dotage. Like many elderly people suffering from dementia, he is prone to blurting out inappropriate thoughts that happen to cross his mind.
And the very Narrative Media folks who were s0 eager to crawl up Trump’s anus with a microscope are rushing to pooh-pooh this obvious evidence of Biden’s condition.

Rep. Smith: Biden Budget Release Shows ‘How Proud They Are of This Disaster’
Biden Banking On $3.6 Trillion Tax Increases To Fund Agenda Plans Such plans, like all government plans, are based on the assumption that the victims will just sit there and cough up, which they won’t; they’ll adjust their behavior to avoid as much of the tax increase as possible, so the hikes will realize much less net revenue than projected. This happens so consistently with revenue projections that I’m surprised they even bother any more.
