I wrote here about an op-ed by professors Amy Wax and Larry Alexander in which the authors praised America’s 1950s “bourgeois culture.” Though acknowledging the existence of “racial discrimination, limited sex roles, and pockets of anti-Semitism” in that culture, they insisted that the modern “loss of bourgeois habits has seriously impeded the progress of disadvantaged groups.”

Predictably, Wax and Alexander were instantly accused of racism by what Robert Woodson describes as “the growing army of angry academics who police the prevailing narrative of black victimhood.” Woodson observes that, according to this narrative “black progress is determined not by personal choices and individual behavior, but by white supremacy, America’s history of slavery and discrimination, and institutional racism.” Thus, “touting ‘bourgeois values’ is interpreted as an offense against authentic black culture.”

Instead, however, we see that careers where women are most abundant and most ambitious, such as television and movies, are where they are most exploited.

Liberal outlet Think Progress criticized a black researcher Tuesday for promoting “old and racist” ideas about the effects pollution has on minority populations.

Uni Blake, a scientific adviser with an oil and gas lobby, supposedly used a racist argument to suggest that poor genetic makeup might help explain the effect pollution has on black people, according to Think Progress’s Sam Fulwood. He failed to mention that Blake is a black woman with years of experience in toxicology.

A company in Brazil faced accusations of racism this week after it ran a toilet paper ad featuring the slogan “Black is beautiful.”

Santher, a Brazilian toilet paper company, released an advertisement for its new brand of luxury toilet paper featuring white actress Marina Ruy Barbosa wrapped in black toilet paper, reported the Telegraph Wednesday. The slogan “black is beautiful” accompanied the ad.

It’s amazing the amount of time black people just spend Being Black. When do they have time for real life?

The Electoral Justice Project will consist of two parts. First, the hiring of black organizers called the Electoral Justice League to focus on local strategies and champion certain issues facing the black community. The second part entails a national help desk to reach out and help black organizations with electoral strategies.

Of course, exactly why black people need ‘organizing’ is never stated. I can’t help the feeling that this is just another effort to pay people to go around stirring up trouble. ‘Local strategies’ seems to mean ‘ways we can pressure white people to pay us guilt money’. What ‘certain issues’ are going to be ‘championed’ remains deliciously vague.

The Movement for Black Lives is an umbrella group for over sixty groups that fight for black liberation. The organization released a policy platform last year, calling for an end to the war on black people and a free access to high school for all black Americans.

‘Liberation’ from what? The necessity to work hard, save money, take care of your kids, and spend time relaxing?

What ‘war on black people’? The only ‘war’ I see is the war on white people just for being white.

Where don’t all black Americans have access to ‘free high school’? The public school system in the United States is devoted to free school through high school for everyone, even illegal immigrants. Any black kid who is willing to study (aye, there’s the rub) can go to high school for free.

The disruption was livestreamed on BLM at W&M’s Facebook page. Students took to the stage just a few moments after Gastañaga began her remarks. At first, she attempted to spin the demonstration as a welcome example of the kind of thing she had come to campus to discuss, commenting “Good, I like this,” as they lined up and raised their signs. “I’m going to talk to you about knowing your rights, and protests and demonstrations, which this illustrates very well. Then I’m going to respond to questions from the moderators, and then questions from the audience.”

It was the last remark she was able to make before protesters drowned her out with cries of, “ACLU, you protect Hitler, too.” They also chanted, “the oppressed are not impressed,” “shame, shame, shame, shame,” (an ode to the Faith Militant’s treatment of Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones, though why anyone would want to be associated with the religious fanatics in that particular conflict is beyond me), “blood on your hands,” “the revolution will not uphold the Constitution,” and, uh, “liberalism is white supremacy.”

These people need to read up on what happened during the French Revolution. What goes around, comes around.

Gay and transgender activists in Tallahassee, Florida are really mad because the taxpayer-funded local school district reassigned a fifth-grade teacher after she told the little kids in her classroom to address her with the title “Mx.” and refer to her using the third-person plural pronouns “they,” “them” and “their.”

The teacher, Chloe Bressack, pulled her transgender pronoun stunt at Tallahassee’s Canopy Oaks Elementary School earlier this school year.

Bressack, who identifies as gender neutral, sent a note home to parents saying that she expected their fifth-grade children to address her as “Mx. Bressack” and to use plural pronouns when discussing her singular self.

The backlash from parents was intense.

School district officials responded to the outpouring of parental complaints by hastily removing Bressack from her fifth-grade classroom and transferring her to the school district’s adult basic education program.

I’m sure the adults in the basic education program will admire and applaud her commitment to ‘diversity’.

The FBI released its official crime tally for 2016 today, and the data flies in the face of the rhetoric that professional athletes rehearsed in revived Black Lives Matter protests over the weekend.  Nearly 900 additional blacks were killed in 2016 compared with 2015, bringing the black homicide-victim total to 7,881. Those 7,881 “black bodies,” in the parlance of Ta-Nehisi Coates, are 1,305 more than the number of white victims (which in this case includes most Hispanics) for the same period, though blacks are only 13 percent of the nation’s population. The increase in black homicide deaths last year comes on top of a previous 900-victim increase between 2014 and 2015.

Who is killing these black victims? Not whites, and not the police, but other blacks.

While some of these headlines are misleading, wrongly depicting this incident as a “fight” between two sides, when in fact it was an attack by transgender activists on a member of the feminist group, even inaccurate coverage is better than no coverage. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and the more attention that is focused on this issue, the more people will become aware of the hateful intolerance of transgender activists, who seek to silence their critics. Because facts and logic are against them, they resort to terroristic intimidation tactics against their opponents.

Basic freedoms and important matters of public policy are at stake in this debate, and it is obvious which side is trying to silence dissent by labeling disagreement as “hate.” People need to wake the hell up.
