You have to be pretty stupid to opine publicly about the race/ethnicity of a mass shooter before his race/ethnicity is known. You have to be very stupid to base such an opinion on the obviously false claim that mass shooters are “always” of a particular race/ethnicity. And you have to be world-class stupid to risk your professional career on such an assertion.
But that’s what Hemal Jhaveri, then the “diversity and inclusion editor at USA Today Sports,” did following last week’s mass shooting in Colorado. She tweeted, “It’s always an angry white man [who does this]. Always.”

USA TODAY Sports’ race and inclusion editor Hemal Jhaveri announced Friday she was fired after falsely saying an “angry white man” was responsible for Monday’s mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado.
“[I]t’s always an angry white man. Always,” Jhaveri said Monday evening before police revealed the shooter was 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, a migrant from Syria.
Last I knew, Arabs were considered ‘white’. But now, I guess not. Maybe its because proglodytes consider ‘Muslim’ to be a race or something.

A Yale University psychiatrist who practically made a career out of diagnosing President Donald Trump as dangerously mentally ill from afar has been fired for being in gross violation of the “Goldwater Rule.” Dr. Bandy X. Lee is no obscure doctor since for the past four years she has made frequent appearances on MSNBC and CNN shows as well as being prominently written up with a favorable slant in such periodicals as the New Yorker and the Washington Post.

Once making up about 14% of US farmers, Black farmers make up less than 2% today. Many were forced out by racist lending practices by the agriculture department that led to vast losses of land, income, profits and generation wealth.
Really? I’ve never seen a black farmer, or even heard tell of one, outside of proglodyte whining.

The reaction to the mass shootings in Boulder, Colorado, and Atlanta, Georgia, over the last week has revealed how invested the Democratic establishment is in one all-powerful narrative. Both shootings produced an immediate response from the media, Democratic politicians, and activists—that the slaughters were the result of white supremacy and that white Americans are the biggest threat facing the US. That interpretation was reached, in the case of the Boulder shooting, on the slimmest of evidence, and in the case of the Atlanta shooting, in the face of contradictory facts.
After the Boulder supermarket attacks, social media lit up with gloating pronouncements that the shooter was a violent white male and part of what Vice President Kamala Harris’s niece declared (in a since-deleted tweet) to be the “greatest terrorist threat to our country.” (Video of the handcuffed shooter being led away by the police appeared to show a white male.) Now that the shooter’s identity has been revealed as Syrian-American and his tirades against the “Islamophobia industry” unearthed, that line of thought has been quietly retired and replaced with the stand-by Democratic response to mass shootings—demands for gun control.

Today, Joe Biden allowed Megan Rapinoe, a female soccer player, to use the White House for two of her favorite purposes: (1) whining about not being paid enough and (2) calling attention to herself.
Rapinoe, a radical feminist, is leading the crusade for “equal pay” for women soccer players. At the White House, she made it personal, declaring that, by being paid less than players on the men’s national soccer team, she has been “devalued, disrespected, and dismissed because I am a woman.”
Nonsense. Rapinoe certainly has not been dismissed. The limelight shines on her constantly. Today’s appearance at the White House is only the latest example.
If Rapinoe has been “devalued,” it’s not because she’s a woman. Rather, it’s because people just aren’t that interested in women’s soccer.

The whitest people in the USA are probably Asians. At least that would appear to be the case when we look back on that astonishingly silly “Whiteness and White Culture” graphic produced by the National Museum of African American History & Culture. All that stuff in the chart regarding work ethic, respect for authority, and the scientific method is probably more characteristic of families with “tiger moms” than many white households these days.

Poor Colin Kahl. The Stanford professor is qualified, experienced, and shares President Biden’s views on defense and foreign policy. Ordinarily, that would be enough to get confirmed to a job like undersecretary of defense for policy.
But no more! Three and a half years after #MeToo, the casting couch has migrated from Hollywood to Capitol Hill, thanks to Senator Tammy Duckworth.
On Tuesday, Senator Tammy Duckworth announced that, since President Biden’s political appointees were insufficiently diverse, she would be voting against any Biden nominees with white skin color, starting with Kahl. The only exception, Duckworth said, would be for LGBTQ nominees.
Well, Kahl will have a hard time pulling off a racial rebranding this late. So, if he wants to revive his career, he knows what he needs to do. He can slap on a wig and announce he’s now calling himself Cassandra Kahl. Or he can bend over and start taking it like a man. No whining now, Colin.

There has been an ongoing effort to link the spa shootings to a trend of increasing hate crimes against Asian Americans. There is much still to learn about this phenomenon. It may have peaked last spring with the onset of the coronavirus and certainly appears to have driven by several big cities, especially New York City, Los Angeles and the Bay Area. But this broader trend doesn’t appear to fit a neat woke narrative, either.
For one thing, many attacks against Asian Americans clearly aren’t acts of white supremacism or even incidents of racial hatred.
It is an unfortunate feature of big American cities at the moment that not much explanation is needed for attacks against anyone other than a rising tide of lawlessness. That surely accounts for some significant percentage — if by no means all — of the attacks.

David Cole points out some inconvenient truth.
Operation Slippery Slope has hit a snag: too many casualties from friendly fire.
…
Worse still, most of the assault perpetrators have been black. That really put a dent in the “white supremacist” thing. Until last week, when a repressed neurotic white Bible-boy who lives in fear that every time he jerks it Jesus takes a spear to the pericardium gave an unhappy ending to eight massage-parlor temptresses, six of whom were Asian. This would be Slippery Slope’s Gulf of Tonkin! Now the “epidemic” had drawn mass blood (sure, two of the victims were white, but details, details…). Time for an all-out offensive against racist whites whose anti-Asian words and thoughts had “contributed” to a “climate” that “caused” the mass shooting. The fact that the killer didn’t have a racist motive or a track record of racist comments was irrelevant; the media quickly declared that the police can’t be trusted to accurately investigate the crime. Journalists and Hollywood celebrities simply “knew” that racism was the motive, and their psychic hunches beat actual investigative work and facts (so much for “trusting the science”).

Steve Sailer is upset.
As I pointed out in my review of Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s Prey, Northern Europe has a major problem with growing harassment and criminality against women walking down the street. But nobody was supposed to talk about it because the harassers aren’t Northern Europeans. But then a white policeman was arrested for the London murder of an attractive young white woman. This emergence of one of Tom Wolfe’s Great White Defendants means that now everybody in Britain is talking about the problem of violence.
Similarly, the ongoing attacks on Asians in America could be talked about as long as you blamed it on Trump for reasons, but the actual specifics of the cases (most of the attackers were blacks or immigrants) were a massive hot potato.
But, now, some white guy has murdered 6 Asian women (plus two whites, and wounded a Latino man), so everybody can safely talk about the crisis of violence against Asians because we have our Great White Defendant.

Social justice activists have been arguing for some time that scientific societies and institutions need to address systemic sexism and racism in STEM disciplines. However, their rationale is often anything but scientific. For example, whenever percentages in faculty positions, test scores, or grant recipients in various disciplines do not match percentages of national average populations, racism or sexism is generally said to be the cause. This is in spite of the fact that no explicit examples of racism or sexism generally accompany the statistics. Correlation, after all, is not causation. Without some underlying mechanism or independent evidence to explain a correlation of observed outcomes with population statistics, inferring racism or sexism in academia as the cause is inappropriate.
One might have hoped for more rigor from the leadership of scientific societies and research institutions. Alas, this has not been the case. In the current climate, many have simply adopted popular rhetoric and the jargon of critical theory has begun to dominate communications by these institutions. Pandering and virtue signalling have begun to generate proactive initiatives by the highest levels of the scientific community, often replacing the focus on science itself. Here are a few examples from the past few weeks alone.

The Democrats intend to ride the mini-riot at the Capitol on January 6 for all it is worth. One aspect of their strategy is lawsuits by people like Eric Swalwell. Swalwell has sued President Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., Rudy Giuliani and Congressman Mo Brooks for, among other things, intentional infliction of emotional distress. Is there any chance the rest of us can sue Swalwell for the emotional distress he has caused us? I suppose not.
