It’s an odd reflex when you think about it: most non-Western societies don’t spend much of their headspace finding oppressed categories of people and elevating them into sainthood before seeking to re-engineer society for their benefit in the name of cosmic completion. It’s an odd religion that makes a tortured criminal their symbol of divinity and plasters the cross he was murdered on everywhere, from the tops of their temples to (formerly) classrooms. The physical cross might be less common now than it once was, but the Christ symbol has never been more ubiquitous in our public discourse. We’re inventing new versions of Christ all the time.

Back in 2019, Michelle Obama’s old chief of staff Tina Tchen was a regular iSteve newsmaker for being involved in various sordid Democrat inside baseball goings-on. For example, when legendary SPLC co-founder Morris Dees got fired, presumably for being an elderly horndog, the SPLC board promised that the saintly Ms. Tchen would do a thorough investigation and then publish a full investigation. It’s been two and a half years but still no report.
And then Tchen helped get Jussie Smollett of with a slap on the wrist.
But now she’s in bad odor with the media for trying to help out Andrew Cuomo when ex. Gov. Moe Syzslak got Me-Tooed for what seemed to be at a quick scan to be mostly Al Franken-level offenses.

At the University of Texas at Austin, where professors have repeatedly and unsuccessfully pushed for an indoor mask mandate, vaccine requirement and regular testing, one policy adds insult to injury: the university says that faculty members and programs may offer nonacademic incentives of up to $50 each to students to get them to wear masks in class, but it’s not footing the bill for any of these rewards.
OF COURSE the Professors want to put the burden of keeping themselves safe on the students. Don’ they know who we are?

Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer (D.) condemned “out-of-state interests” for “pouring millions of dollars” into her state. That apparently doesn’t apply to her own campaign coffers, which prominent national Democrats have flooded with cash thanks to a campaign finance loophole.

At the moment in the U.S., Afghans are not eligible for affirmative action, being classified by the Office of Management and Budget as one of the white peoples of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East; in contrast, their cousins from just east of the Khyber Pass in Pakistan, are officially Asians and thus eligible for racial preferences on government contracts and low interest Small Business Administration minority development loans.
In January 2017, the lame duck Obama Administration tried to start the process of rectifying this grave injustice that there are Third World immigrants who aren’t legally privileged over white Americans by creating the Middle Eastern and North African race category. But the Trump Administration couldn’t see why they would want to do that, so they let the Obama plan lapse.

The Dalton School hosts an annual conference for New York City private schools on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This May, it was Rodney Glasgow’s turn to deliver the keynote address. Glasgow, a longtime school administrator who has founded multiple DEI consultancies, used his speech to address the elephant in the room: the parental pushback to “antiracism” at Dalton and other elite private schools, which made national headlines after Dalton headmaster Jim Best resigned amid the uproar.

A slump in stock price and reports about Proterra’s costly electric buses underperforming across the country have sent the Biden administration’s favorite electric battery company into damage-control mode, retaining a top-flight defamation lawyer and inveighing against “partisan blogs” like the Washington Free Beacon and the taxpayer-funded NPR.
Proterra, the electric bus company linked to several Biden administration officials and top Democrats, has retained the services of high-profile attorney Erik Connolly, the company said. A Proterra spokesman said Connolly was hired to “address some recent false and defamatory publications about the company.” Proterra also published a statement Monday night that sought to set the “record straight about mischaracterizations about our Company in recent partisan news blogs that are opposed to the widespread adoption of zero-emission vehicles.”

An interesting question is whether the women professors who are demanding to be called “Professor” are in hard fields where tech culture is influential and it’s common for professors to become founders or highly paid consultant, or whether they are professors in fields like gender studies that nobody in their right mind who wants to get something hard accomplished would have anything to do with.

Government employees are suing Connecticut to avoid returning to work, arguing that commutes contribute to climate change.
Public employee unions in Connecticut are insisting their members continue to have the option to work full time from home, citing environmental and legal concerns. Democratic governor Ned Lamont allowed government employees to work exclusively from home during the pandemic and is now resuming pre-pandemic guidelines that allow government employees to work from home part-time. The unions are refusing to comply with the reopening plans and are demanding a new telework agreement with the government.
Climate change! Is there any scam it can’t do?
