I’m reminded of the story told about John Rockefeller Jr. Allegedly, one of his acquaintances went to visit him in his office which was Spartan, spare, and somewhat dingy. The acquaintance told John he should spruce up his space, get a bigger office with nicer furniture and furnishings, artwork, etc.
Rockefeller asked, “Why?”
“Well, to impress people if for no other reason.”
John shrugged and said, “So who do I need to impress?”
Poor people don’t know any better; rich people don’t care.
